Home screen wallpaper issues - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi all.
I have had my 3T for a few days now, I came from the LG G5.
I have noticed that my home screen wallpaper looks bad. When viewing the original image in the gallery it looks fine but once I set it as a wallpaper or lock screen the quality goes right down the toilet! The image is a little blocky and it also has a yellow tint to it or a warmer tint if you know what I mean.
Anyone else got this??

Not having these issues, screen is crisp & have been trying so hard to spot this tint that there is another thread for (I can't see it & have been trying with various wall and studying so so hard for) not saying it is a fabrication, but for me and my eyes if it is present I'm not seeing it.....
As for your walls could be a scaling issue, how many walls have you tried? And is it the same no matter what walls you use?

[Q] Dark spots on the screen when displaying a black image

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) phone about one week ago. I noticed a problem with the screen. The problem is like this:
When I am in a very dark room (and make sure my eyes have adapted to the darkness), and display a completely black image with the phone, the screen is not completely black. This is NOT the problem I want to say. The problem which bothers me is that, inside this gray screen I can notice some really black spots, just like the screen has been spattered by some black ink (but is has not).
Why is this a problem? Because even if the screen cannot be perfectly black when displaying a completely black image, it should still be uniform; but this is not the case!
This problem is similar to the one described in this web page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150171
Maybe I should add that this problem never affect its performance in normal conditions. It only shows up when the environment is completely dark and when it display something really black.
So I would like to know whether this problem is caused by a defect of the phone.
A photo is attached. It was taken with a long exposure time. The photo is taken with a small Canon camera, with ISO = 200, and an exposure time of 15 seconds.
This thread has some discussion regarding the issue. I have these marks on my SGS2 screen as well; bit of a nuisance really.

Mine is pitch black as far as i can tell. However, when i run screenfilter, it dims the colors but the background (normally black) becomes a light grey.

All OLEDs can have this issue. I would imagine more have it than not. My old Zune HD did this. My note has it, my Infuse has it. If you are into watching black screens with nothing on them in pitch black rooms, then stay away from OLED screens. Since you really can't see this with normal use, I would say it is no big deal.
Your video issue is something else all together. That is just a boneheaded gamma setting by Samsung. Shades below 4 (with my gamma test image) aren't smoothly ramped down, they are just eliminated entirely! This gives a noticeable step from shadow details to black, which shows compression tiling that you normally wouldn't see..
I believe physical damage causes this problem..because last week when my girlfriend tossed Me my deo can it accidentally hit the screen and since then there's a huge black spot in that area thankfully though it's only visible on a pitch black image ....like the bootscreen
so no issues
This belong in Q&A
My very first Note had blotches visible even in daylight on a gray background. I had it replaced the next day under Samsung early life failure policy (first 30 days). Second phone had blotches visible only on a black background in a dark room. So did 3rd, 4th and 5th! However, the 5th Note had blotches around the edges unlike the other 4 Notes so I decided to keep it. The fact is: ALL Notes 1 have blotches. If you can't see blotches consider yourself blessed. Blotches are the only thing I hate about Note 1.

even though a lot of screens have this, Id send it back if I was you. I think its unacceptable for aproduct this expensive. It shoukd be flawless. So quickly call upon warrantee.
Next time, dont leave the store without doing an instore test, that way you can return it immediately with no questions asked

It's a bit hard to do a "dark room" test in store. After the 5th I gave up my search for a perfect screen. Until Samsung changes their AMOLED manufacturing process and improve QC there won't be "perfect" screens.

The problem is these dark spots won't appear even on the standard *#0*# screen test .
so it's kind of a non issue but what I am worried about it is, will it deteriorate in time and become an issue later on ?

[Q] Does my Note have a black clipping / black crush screen bug?

Here's the picture with the test image.
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/6136/20121220181102.jpg
Looks like it. Don't worry about it though, you probably won't notice it in normal use.
mine is so noticeable when I play darker movies like Dark Knight. All the black clips It's so sad. I haven't read enough to find a work around, and I don't think there is one.
Do new Notes 1 (the N7000), ones produced recently (eg. 3/6 months ago) still have this bug? If yes, is the display better than displays of 1,5 year old Notes?
I have the initial release of note and thank God never experienced any such thing.

[Q] Color (black) scale on GT-N7000

Hey there,
I just bought a GT-N7000, and I am quite dissapointed with the display quality. I have a lot of experience with Super AMOLED (plus) screens from Galaxy S and SII, but I am facing an issue on my new Galaxy Note.
You can see it on dark pictures, photos or mainly videos. It looks like the screen on the Note were more sensitive of brighter tones of black then the screens on S or SII. Let's say I am watching a video. If the scene is full of light, everything is all right and you can definitely see the breathtaking quality of the Super AMOLED screen. But when the scene goes dark - everything got different. On the S or SII, all the dark led pixels were inactive, so the screen was absolutely black on dark places. But, it looks like my new Note is a lot more sensitive of light, and the result is, it finds a not-absolute-black places all over the screen, and the scene is not Black at all. There is around 50% of the screen's area which is not Black, but just dark grey, consiting of small squares. Also, these squares flicker in a very high frequency, which makes it even more annoying. This is also happening with photos taken in dark, but, of course, the squares are stable.
Are you facing this issue too or am I the only one? I hope you did understand my words, if not, I could provide some photo samples of what I'm talking of.
This is called black crush and present on all Note 1s to varying degrees. Samsung refused to acknowledge it as an issue.

Search for the thread in the n7000 forums with 'black clipping' in the title If you don't find it as black crusg. Lots of good reading there. You will find all the info you desire in this topic.

[Q] Display gradient

Using the search didn't result in anyone asking what I have to ask, so I'm opening a new thread.
I don't know if it happened from the start, but last 5 days I'm noticing like a moving gradient on the display. When changing from bright apps (messaging for example) to homescreen with dark background. Also I'ts visible when pulling notifications down and homescreen slowly darkens. You can (well, I can) clearly see like moving gradient circles. You have to set the brightness to full to make it more obvious.
See the video that I recorded of the problem, It's visible.
http://youtu.be/8QxuEmZnjRc
But I repeat, I really can't confirm if it happened from day one. I have the phone for more than a month now.
I have these purple blotches on dark backgrounds. Only noticeable well when brightness is set to maximum. I also noticed after a while. Funny how it happens only on black backgrounds. Probably a manufacturing fault

Anyone else seeing that? Maybe it's not faulty, maybe it's meant to be like that
I doubt it's meant to be like that

Black Crush!!!

So i have been noticing this since quite a lot of days. The p20 pro has black crush issue in videos. The screen tester apps dont show it because the problem is only while playimg videos. The black shadows are never really black. To test this you need to watch a video with complete blacks in 0% brightness in dark room. You will see that there are white dots in the black screen. Its so much irritating, hope huawei fixes it soon as it is most likely a software bug like on s9
As an example if you see at the very start of the video where the helmet falls, the screen should be completely black whereas on a close look you can actually see white dots all over screen
I can see it in your video, but it doesn't happen on my screen in the same situation.

So you mean the blacks are perfectly black for you on zero brighntess in a dark room while playing this video?
I can see the white dots on my p20 as well as on my pc... I think thats what the video should look like... Its like dirt falling at the same time as the helmet.

Try it with this video. I don't get any white dots in the black using your conditions.

The background in this video is not completely black for me in the conditions i mentioned. It feels like the pixels do light up
Btw it must be some software bug because the borders which were not covered by video including the sides of notch are completely black

@mathab you cant compare with a pc. You need some other amoled display device because the pc will light up the pixels as well. Anyway also try the other video posted in next comment.
Edit: you can try this too
I thought where talking about the little white dots on the first video
In the last video you posted I can see backlight in every scene :/ just as you.
Dont have any amoled screen at hand to test (cause maybe the video does not have true blacks ¿?)

try this one, its very clear after 2-3 seconds that your eyes adjust to darkness that theres something weird going on, white spots are all over the screen.
FYI Ive got an L04 from Mexico rebranded to L29

Yes this is what i have been trying to say. And the weird thing is it only happens in video and not on sides of notch where the video doesnt play. So the issue is not with the screen but the huawei firmware. Hope they roll out a fix soon.
I personally believe there are many users with this problem but they havent noticed it.
I do see them to when the brightness is low! I notice that when you scroll on any page that got black content, a sort of purple shadow follow the black content. Anyone experience this?
