Migrate To SD Card? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

So, in the new Marshmallow Update (New for me at least), Google introduced the ability to combine SD Card and Internal Storage. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems AT&T or Samsung have disabled this feature. When I try to launch the activity using activity launcher, it complains about missing android.permission.MOUNT_UNMOUNT_FILESYSTEMS. I have added that permission to the manifest, and rebuilt Activity Launcher, but I still get the same error. Anyone interested?
Thanks for your help,
Josh

Move Apps to SD Option?

Hello,
Waiting for my Z3 Compact to arrive. I can't wait!
Question for you owners out there. Did Sony add the option under storage settings like they did with the Z2 to move apps to SD?
Fingers crossed!
Thanks in advance!
Would like to know myself. Seems like a boneheaded move if it's not an available feature by default. I mean, I know eventually root will allow us to achieve apps2sd even if it weren't, but it would be such an Apple move if this were a restriction.
I could only see 'Transfer data to SD card'
Photos
Videos
Music
no apps or any other options yet.
App2SD is not present and I'd predict that it'll also not come. I'd already be happy if we could get write access to the SD. Thank you Google... no, I don't want to use your Cloud "services".
Can you set pictures, videos and Music to get stored on the SDcard by default? Setting the location by default would make things much easier. Not too worried about 16gb for apps, always was fine for my N4 with everything else as well. Just needed to clean up storage every once in awhile.

Anyone found a solution to this, running low on internal storage!
Luckily Google will bring back Apps2SD in Lollipop. Now we just have to wait, till Sony releases a LP rom...

Hey all, in KitKat we introduced APIs that let apps read/write file in app-specific directories on secondary storage devices, such as SD cards.
We heard loud and clear that developers wanted richer access beyond these directories, so in Lollipop we added the new ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE intent. Apps can launch this intent to pick and return a directory from any supported DocumentProvider, including any of the shared storage supported by the device. Apps can then create, update, and delete files and directories anywhere under the picked tree without any additional user interaction. Just like the other document intents, apps can persist this access across reboots.
This gives apps broad, powerful access to manage files while still involving the user in the initial selection process. Users may choose to give your app access to a narrow directory like "My Vacation Photos," or they could pick the top-level of an entire SD card; the choice is theirs.

you can set the default image/video location from the camera settings, read somewhere that you can do the same with music via the play music app.
Okay probably got that wrong, but on the other hand effectively it's the solution to the problem. If the apps can easily store their biggest part of data on the SD, the internal memory will be save.

Apps that have stopped working since 4.4.2 update. Internal SD Card Write Permissions

Hello,
I used to use the following apps regularly until my OTA update to NG2. It seems that the apps now have trouble reading or writing to internal SD storage, which (Correct me if I'm wrong) I believe is a fault of the developers not updating andrioid's new security restrictions.
The particular apps I'm referring to are:
Line (sending or receiving pictures/videos no longer works)
QuickPic (regular error messages while looking at pictures)
SwiftKey (unable to save language packs)
My goal was to see if others are experiencing similar issues and to perhaps shed light on something that might help those developers update their apps correctly.

There have been permissoj issues with apps trying to write to internal storage since 4.4.2 KitKat.

apps on the sd card

My mother is looking at getting a new tablet but is looking at getting a tablet where she can install the apps on the sd card. Looking at the 2016 version with 6.0. Can you do that with this tablet
I have the T813 and stock it's cumbersome. You have to manually move each app to SD card within Application Manager. And every time there's an update from Play Store for said app you have to repeat memory move. It's garbage really.

This is not even a Samsung limitation it's Android in general, so not sure what you mean by 'garbage'?
There are 2 ways around this, enable adoptable storage or use one of the many apps to move the apps for you automatically.
Link2sd , Folder mount etc. Root required.
Also the fact it already has 32gb of internal storage, to fill it you would have to have a serious amount of apps installed if all you use the internal storage for is apps.
I manage just fine with plenty left over on 16gb.
DONATE ME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BUY ME A BEER OR HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU
I had said stock. To use any of those 3rd party app or terminal fixes or you need root which in turn invalidates warranty currently with the 2016 S2 Tabs that I'm aware of.
As for this being a general Android problem, so what? Samsung being largest OEM should be building devices with large internal memory options for this 2016 series.
Aside from memory management, I'm actually quite satisfied with my T813 regardless. I just won't be custom modding right now. Maybe later when the issue becomes more annoying.

Get a list of broken app shortcuts

Hello Xperia Xperts!
I have an old Sony Xperia Z with latest factory updates (Android 5.0), and I had few apps installed on its external SD card.
Now the SD card is damaged for some reason, my app drawer is left with few broken links to non-existing apps. Instead of my apps' icon, it shows a green Droid icon with a small red SD icon on its top-left corner, which obviously means that those apps can not be loaded because device can not read the SD card.
I don't care much about the SD card for now, my concern is how to get the list of those broken shortcuts? I wish to get even the groupId of those apps (e.g. com.example.foe) so that I can figure them out and re-install them from Play Store.
Is there anyway to get this list?
Since I asked in other forums as well and still did not get an answer, I want to highlight that those apps are not available on the Play store installed list, they are not considered as installed anymore by any Android related tool. They are not in `pm list`.
Apparently only Sony launcher recognizes them and I want to find a way to read what Sony launcher is reading.
And, answering myself. I found them all available inside this file:
Code:
/data/data/com.sonyericsson.home/shared_prefs/home_external_storage_apps_pref.xml

Force Allow Apps on External (in Developer Options) Query's ?

So ive been using this option since setting up my Exynos Note 8 from day one with a Sammy Pro Evo Plus 256gb micro sd card and its worked pretty much perfect allowing me to move all of the app/data to the external SD Card BUT when an app gets an update come through and downloading/installing said update the app always reverts back to the Internal whereas it was previously on the external which is obviously very annoying and inconvenient that's Query 1 so Query 2 is only as far as i can tell this only happens with any app/game from installed from Google play using this feature that is whilst im able to move all of the app/data to the external Sd card it actually doesn't show/reflect that at all in the Storage options which obviously makes know sense and obviously pointless being a complete waste of time, any ideas/suggestion with any of the above welcome, thx.
