Same IMEI displayed twice - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

TLDR, One IMEI = BAD. Replacement phone on route. If your phone shows the same IMEI twice, get in touch with whoever you bought it from.
----------
Hi Everyone,
I've had all the OnePlus phones at some point, and today I got the 3T.
The X, 2, and 3 all had two IMEI numbers.
My 3T only has one.
All of them were purchased in the UK.
Is this normal? Do you have one IMEI number too? Will this create an issue if I use two SIMs on the same network?
My work and personal SIMs are both on O2.
Thanks

If you're talking about that label on the back of the 3t as it was shipped, then mine (I'm in the US) had two IMEI numbers. I'd guess that a label with one is just a mistaken label.

Die You check with *#06#
My OP3t shows me 2 IMEI

*#06# shows the same IMEI twice. Very strange!

It's the same except for the last two digits. Really sure...?

Well, looks like I'm sending my phone back. It's been a fun three hours, *sigh*

Yeah, every single number matches 100%, on *#06# and in settings

2 seperate imei numbers here (US)

The drama continues! Apparently I own the worlds first single SIM 3T!! lol

The same call handler said they'd organise a replacement, and the new phone would have two IMEIs.

I have the same issue but with Oneplus 3, not 3t.
I guess I'll have to call O2... I didn't know this was an issue until I saw this thread.

The O2 call handler initially told me that the IMEI should be the same, then later when they clarified it they said that they meant the 3, not the 3T.
So this person reckons that the 3 should have one IMEI, and the 3T should have two.
I work in a large phone repair centre, and every single OnePlus 3 I've seen has two IMEIs - which is about 8 units so far.

My O2 oneplus 3 has same imei on both. Having to exchange as late paying bill and imei barred the phone.
Now with bar removed it is conflicting seriously not allowing it to make calls on network.
Think O2 have implemented this as they can keep track of device so if it was barred again they know where it is, if 2 different imei's the other would not block and could still use the device

My second phone was the same. I'm now waiting for my third

It looks like it should definitely have 2 different numbers, according to research I did online. I'll check with O2 on Monday.
My Oneplus X has 2 IMEIs as it should.
This is a weird thing.

Yup mine is Displaying the Same IMEI twice, but I only use one sim & as mine is the 128gb I'm not sending it back ..... would be a long wait for a replacement....

I have now contacted them a I'll have to go to the store for them to look at it and they might take it to fix it. Do you guys think will be a long wait after?

Motorola is awful about registering IMEI numbers. I had to call them to get mine registered correctly. Bought from them directly and they still didn't recognize the number.

you may have a space or something in there. that is a real device. try typing it in one number/letter at a time.
My Nexus 6 bought directly from Motorola was shipped from China, so it appears quite likely at least some of the N6's are made in China.
If you bought directly from Motorola, it took a few days for them to recognize the IMEI in their system. Not sure why, but it magically started working on their website (I was trying to buy the insurance from Motorola). If you DID NOT buy from Motorola, you cannot use their insurance as far as I know.
You don't have to leave the last digit off for any reason do you? I remember having to leave the last digit off the IMEI for something once. It might have been to activate it on Sprint though rather than with Motorolla.
Thanks for your answers... Anyway... I am not good with this phone.

bought blacklisted ATT S6 active..but it is still working?? how is it working?

Hello,
So, I just bought a BNIB S6 active...ATT says it is blacklisted. However, I just put my ATT SIM in it and it is working fine, just like its not blacklisted..the data works, SMS works, etc...
all of the "imei checker" sites also say that it is blacklisted also
so, my question is...why do the sites AND ATT say its blacklisted, but still working just fine? Is it something in the system that is laggy, and in a few days it will eventually block the IMEI and my SIM card??

well, interestingly....about 3 minutes AFTER I posted this thread, the phone did get suspended..lost the data, sms capability, etc.
However, I logged onto my account and just clicked on "re-activate" phone and now its working again...it said after you click "reactivate" to call ATT or chat with rep and they will unblock the phone...so, I called ATT..and they said the line has no restrictions and that i'm good to go...
Weird, so am I good, u think?

Presumably a stolen batch of phones. One can imagine that there are many points in the distribution chain where a case of phones might end up walking off a truck. But with inventory tracking, I expect that the imeis of each phone are also known, so they get blacklisted as soon as the carrier's asset tracking system catches up. AoN

Incorrect Unlock Code from AT&T

Hi, I like to know if anyone else has the same problem and what options there are if any.
I bought a new AT&T Note 9 on Ebay. Seller told me the phone had been paid off so I went ahead and requested an unlock code from AT&T.
AT&T approved my request and provided the unlock code. Problem is that I kept getting message that the unlock code is incorrect. I have tried 3 times already and still got the same incorrect unlock code message.
Upon further research, I found that one may have up to 5 attempts to enter a code to unlock the phone. If entering incorrect code more than 5 times, the phone will be permanently locked to the network, in my case to AT&T.
I have been given the run around from both AT&T and Samsung. One says the other should be responsible for fixing the problem (!!!!).
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
Go to cellfunlocker and buy code..they will give you all codes you need

First question. It's an important one that you need to answer accurately. Did the original owner buy it from ATT or Samsung ?
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
Seller told me that the phone was purchased from AT&T and paid off, which seems accurate because AT&T already approved my unlock request even though the unlock code does not work.
Now with the blame game AT&T and Samsung are playing, I am not sure what else to do. Last resource will be to pay and get another unlock code from 3rd party.

I'd suggest cutting your losses and going the route as the person above mentioned using simunlocker net. To be honest.

I ran into the same issue. Apparently it's a common issue and one that ATT is not moving quickly to fix. I just bought an unlock code from cellunlocker. Now I just have to wait. Irritated since ATT is is supposed to do this for free and I already waited once for their useless unlock code. Now I have to wait for another one.
I submitted a request last week for a lock code from AT&T, then later that night said screw it, and purchased one from Cellunlockers.net. 2 days later, AT&T sent me the code (same one from Cellunlockers), and it was in the correct 16 digit format. So it looks fixed now, but you still have to wait 2 days. $25 gets you the code in a few hours. So I guess it all depends on how patient you are.

Must not be fixed for everyone. I requested a code from ATT last week and received the 8 digit code. I tried it again last night, and they sent me the same 8 digit code. Not sure why some are getting the correct 16 digit codes then. And its a wide spread problem if you search the forums. Even ATT's own support forums, and people there are saying the only solution is a 3rd party.

Both. I'm using it on T-Mobile, but need to leave the ATT firmware on it to unlock the SIM first. Then I'll flash either the U1 firmware or the TMo firmware. Haven't decided which yet.
The first Note 9 I bought was a Verizon model off eBay for $690. Two days later the seller "made a listing error," and meant to list it as a brand new ATT version for $900. He forced me to cancel the listing and issued a refund. Which has since been denied by HIS bank, so I don't have the device or my $690.
In the meantime, I found this ATT variant, which is mint condition, like new for $560. They listed it parts only, because it MIGHT be locked to a carrier. Before I purchased I verified it was clean, clear, and paid off and eligible to unlock. Now just dealing with getting the correct unlock code. It cost me $22.50, so I'm still in this for less than $600. So it's all good.

Sounds good. Hopefully the phone won't turn out blacklisted a few months down the line. I think you might be happier with the T-Mobile firmware due to functionality like RCS messaging etc. I believe wifi calling works on the U1 firmware but that's it. For Sprint anyways.

I don't think it will get blacklisted. If it does there's always PayPal buyer protection.
I don't use RCS, since I use Google Voice for my primary number, so I'm stuck with Hangouts anyway. WiFi calling worked on the N950U1, so I assume it will work on the N960U1. Seems like the signal was maybe a little better with the TMB firmware, but I cant remember for sure.
It worked!! Less than 12 hours later and I had a 16 digit code. I'm now running my T-Mobile SIM without issues!
Hi guys, quick question... Im about to try cellunlocker. My phone is Note 9 960F dual sim. So it comes with two IMEIs... which one do I give to the website? SIM 1 or SIM 2?
ive tried switching SIM cards between SIM 1 and SIM 2 and wherever I put the different network simcard, thats the one that is grayed out and stuck on 2G only. So either I have two unlock both SIM slots or maybe just one slot/ IMEI?
Thanks

It's a mixed bag. Some people got the full 16 digits. In my case on two separate ATT Note 9s, I only received 8 digits from ATT, so I had to get the correct code from cellunlocker.net, which was 16 digits.

If you can figure that out you will solve a 7 month old mystery. From what I've seen, ATT blames Samsung for giving them the wrong codes, and Samsung says ATT is providing the wrong codes. Either way, 3rd party vendors are able to get the 16 digits codes without issue.
Before the Note 9, Samsung phones used 8 digits codes. So it seems ATT did not update their system to provide the full 16 digit number. The number they give you is the first 8 digits, as though the full number was truncated by ATT's system. It just doesn't seem to be a priority on ATT's part to fix it.

Which phone do I have 960U or 960W

Hello,
I bought a used phone in Canada (almost brand new). It is blue 6/128GB variant. In the blue backplate, and in the One UI about phone it says SM-N960U and in both areas it has the same IMEI number. The back glass looks original.
But when I do a IMEI lookup online it says SM-N960W (used more than one site) and the phone is not blocked.
Is this normal?

the user probably flashed U or u1 firmware using patched Odin. which you can revert if the need be. general discussion and guides section has the how to.
but from what i gather you are in the states? so actualy keeping it as U might be beneficial for you...
anyways W and U (or u1) are all the same phone hardware wise. if ure happy with it and its working good then that shouldn't be an issue. unless its not payed off and once it comes to term and balance is not payed, it will get black listed and carriers will stop it from operating in their network.( so check esn state.)

acctualy it will just read what's flashed. so...
eg: if its a true W and someone flashed U firmware with patched Odin, then that app will report it as a n960u because it just reads what firmware resides on it.
IMEI can't be changed by firmware, it can only be permanently change by changing QCN & CERT, which will not work on you Note 9, so far.
I remember there were Xposed modules changing IMEI, but not permanently, just as an overlay.
Factory reset, upgrading to newer versions, debloating your phone.
Of course your real IMEI will show up simply.
You don't have to worry about your IMEI locationg another varian, I had similar experience, sadly their info about my variant was wrong.
Check your bootloader, it can not be faked.

What's the sexiest IMEI number on a device you have ever owned? I had one back in the UK once and the last 4 or 6 digits were all 1s.
In regards to op phone being blacklisted, do Canadian carriers share IMEI list with USA carriers? I was under the impression that only the originating carrier could blacklist the device only on their Network.
I only a couple more years ago , there was news that USA carriers shared their IMEI blacklisted numbers. But wasn't aware that for example, a T-Mobile blacklisted device could still work on att .

How to unlock T-mobile phone bought online

Hi, I'm thinking about buying a locked T-Mobile Google Pixel 4 XL being from outside the US, and I'd like to check first with you guys what are my options yo unlock it. I've read here that if the owner Is a long-time owner they can request the phone to be unlocked, although this might not be the case with the person I'm planning to make the purchase with.
Is my only option to unlock it by buying a code (if that"s still a thing..) anyway, I would appreciate your help, thanks!
I contacted T-mobile directly because I do not have an account. The rep told me if I bought the pixel 4xl in the store I would still have to wait 40 days for an unlock code even though I am buying the phone outright.
Get the t-mobile app and chat with them. If you ask nicely they'll unlock it
If the phone is being financed through them then they will most likely refuse to unlock it.
Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
I used Facebook messenger to contact TMobile. Mine is paid off but the rule is 2 payments and 40 days I think. 40 days is easily waived.
Thank you all, I can give it a try, however, will they help me even if I purchased it through eBay?
Took me about 6 or 7 Pixel 4XLs, ordering and returning via Care, TMOHelp, or a Supervisor from either. On the 12th (of February), i received my last and final Pixel 4XL, when i received it, i left it in the UPS Box, so the IMEI is yet to be active, and i owed FULL PRICE for the device, and i contacted the right Rep @ TMOHelp on Twitter to white list my IMEI, before i even activated or turned the device ON. The TMOHelp rep asked for the new IMEI and 5-10 minutes and he would try and work his "MagentaMagic" and i tried explaining, as long as he whitelists the correct IMEI, we wouldnt and shouldnt have any issue. He came back and said all went well, just turn the device on make sure I update the UNLOCK App and choose PERMANENT UNLOCK and there she was : T-Mobile Google Pixel 4XL Carrier Unlocked and awaiting fastboot instructions... Only took 6-7 Devices and a little over a Month!

Mine was unlocked immediately (within 20 minutes) via the Twitter help. Once the rep white listed the IMEI it took about 10 minutes for the permanent unlock to show up. My device is not paid off, however I have had 6 lines on a business account with auto pay setup for over 2.5 years. I'm definitely thinking account longevity helps.

I used the chat option within the T-Mobile app and got it unlocked immediately after the phone reboot. He didn't even ask for the IMEI number but just the last 4 digits of the phone number of the phone to be unlocked.
He mentioned the phone must be active with T-Mobile service for at least 40 days, account in good standing, and been with them for a long time. So, it really depends on how and who you talk to to get it done!

Yes. I think the length of time you are with them is the key factor. The guy on Twitter said as much.
Okay so I am in shock right now.
I'm a brand new T-Mobile customer, my phone is on a lease and I just got this Pixel 4 XL like 4 days ago.
My phone is fully SIM unlocked and I can verify that the OEM bootloader unlock is no longer greyed out and I've already checked it and it worked.
Originally when I asked I said hey I don't really have a good signal where I work can we unlock the phone so I can use a different sim when I'm at work and they told me I needed to pay off the phone and wait the 40 days.
I tried messaging them again and asking them to enable the dual SIM feature and they did. They asked why I needed it and when I told them they said sure no problem, they set my T-Mobile SIM to be an eSIM and then white listed my phone so I could use the T-Mobile unlock app so that I could use my AT&T SIM.
Sounds like the trick is to ask them to enable dual SIM mode due to signal carrier issues. I will say that the person that I was speaking to told me which type of tower I was connected to and that they could see that I had an extremely poor signal in that area and that there was probably nothing we could do to fix it. Basically they verified that I was in an area with a poor signal and then were like sure no problem!
The person helping me stayed right there on Twitter and walked me through the entire process until I had both SIMs functioning together.
Have my phone just over a week, tried and failed 2 times!
Finally, after third time chatted with T-Mobile through Twitter got my phone unlocked.
It depends who you talk to... Just keep trying!
