My K3 Note, running Marshmallow S433 v66, detects WiFi networks it knows that require a log-in or acknowledgement and pops up a log-in prompt.
In previous ROMs I've used, this would take me to the appropriate log-in page. Now though all these links take me to lenovo.com.cn which is of course utterly useless (in every possible way).
The weird thing is this is true even when using a different browser, not the system one.
Can anyone suggest please where this URL might be coming from - the hosts file maybe?

In need of help again, very sorry.
using froyo 2.2 on an ATT vers Nexus One.
Problem:
So with using the default browser (mozilla?), as well as Dolphin HD browser...there are a few important sites I cannot load (no matter what) via 3g or 2G data.
It tries to load at first but just quickly stops leaving me at a blank page.
However, if i switch to my wi-fi network, these same problem pages will load without issue. Not a problem.
But switch back to mobile data 2G or 3G...these sites will not load.
All other websites I visit (so far) load fine either wifi or 3g/2g, it's just some specific ones. This is a constant and consistent problem with specific websites.
The sites are
- hotmail
- ebay mobile
* but I'm sure I'd find others.
So it's strange...perhaps this is best asked in the dev section?
I have no idea what to search on this problem (here or google).
It's as if something is out of whack at the browser end, like it's reading some form data that I could fix/edit/delete and resolve this problem. Or perhaps it's some security bug/issue...
Either way, I need to get this fixed so I can check hotmail if I need to while on the road, ....problem is I don't know where or what to do here for a fix. Any suggestions?
Certain config file, or the like I can edit or del for a fix?
I've DEL the cache, form data, cookies, etc...everything. No fix.
Can the default browser on the nexus one be uninstalled/reinstalled?
I know I can uninstall/reinstall Dolphin HD, I'll try that.
I also like the default browser though...any way this can be fixed?

it's as if there's a glitch that occurs if you once viewed a site via wifi...then when using 3G it has hang ups (blank load screen).
Is there anyone who might have an answer here?

As mentioned it seems to be more of an odd or rare "glitch" here...like something that goes awry under special circumstances (won't load a certain page under 3g/2g data - but will load same page using my wifi).
Now it's happening with facebook in default browser and dolphin. Seems to be happening due to usage at home (wifi)...then accessing same via 3G/2G (not at home). Some hiccup...causing a no load scenario with cell data (no problems via wifi though).
Can we please only reply if this is something you also encountered or may know what's going on here?
I'm no expert but the sites you described seem to be https sites, a secured version of normal webpages. And you're trying to acces those sites through an unsecured data connection 3G/2G.
So I don't know exactly what https does but I assume it won't allow you to send/receive your data over an unencrypted network.
But as for your hotmail problem, you can configure your stock e-mail app to receive your hotmails.
This definitely is the wrong section to post this, you might get a lot of flack for posting here!
Try installing a new rom, your issues are not normal. Try Enom's newest -- it has a stable kernel, and offers perhaps an updated apn file. Short of that, you need to call your cellphone provider, and find out the apn settings from them (double check), and/or why they are restricting access...
I understand your frustration with not getting a response in the Q&A section, but the dev section is for devs and testers. Maybe look at what distribution of froyo you are running (cyanogen? enom? kang-o-rama? leo?) and post in their respective threads. and if this is just a stock updated froyo, you definitely need to call your cellphone provider.

verify your APN settings. Same thing happened to me & proper APN settings fixed it.
Not sure the proper ones for AT&T, however.
edit: make sure to clear anything that ought to be cleared -- an asterisk isn't the same as cleared
Delete your Proxy IP and Port under APN settings and try to reload the page.
As mentioned above, 1) this is wrong section, 2) if you're on a custom ROM - try another ROM, and if you're on stock FRF91 or any custom ROM does the same - then it's definitely a problem with your cellular provider and/or your APN settings.
It may pay to check that it's not your carrier.
Can you access those sites with your SIM in another phone?

I'm going to cut to the chase because I'm rather lazy about typing all this up and my head is kind of jumbled right now so I won't go into detail on how this came up. Found on this page.
After a bit of research I found that Android 4.1.2 and onwards have a feature built into the OS that notifies carriers whether or not we're using the data for tethering. As of right now the only way I have seen to bypass this is to use a user agent filter in your browser. It's obviously annoying since the pages that come up are the mobile web pages and aren't optimized for desktop usage. I want to know if there's a way to bypass (or remove) that feature.
The script on the page above didn't work for me, which is basically why I'm making this post. I've already tried changing my APN to no avail.
Note: I'm on T-Mobile.

I have a great problem on my sony z3. When i use any browser on my device, when i scroll down it appears a pop up by wonderlandads that redirecting me on other apps download.
I don't know what to do because it's not my router's fault, infact when i use my device with mobile data it happens anyway.
Please you are the only one that can help me, i've tried so many things (change dns on my router, 5 different antivirus, delete data on phone and sd, the last thing that remains is an hard reset and i red that this doesn't work for other people) but nothing worked. If you are interested i can send an email of my home screen recorded.

Identify what apps you have installed on your phone. Probably one of those causing this.
My advice: Make a backup, then make a factory reset. If that solves it, it's one of your installed apps causing the issue.
Also just by the way, this is the Z3 Compact part of XDA, be mindful of that when posting further! (And welcome to XDA!)
I suggest using AdAway, It adds almost all the ad servers to your host files and redirects them 127.0.0.1 which is your own device so you don't get any ads.
Also try avoiding shady websites when downloading apks
Just do a clean wipe and everything should return to normal
Ever since I have this phone, I have been unable to sign-in to open Wi-Fi services that require it (like in some fast-food chains for example).
Usually when you make use of seach a service you are directed to a sign-in page in your webbrowser, after which you enter some details and/or accept some conditions. However, whenever I am directed to such a page it will not load. I have tried this in multiple places, all resulting in the same error. The error tells me it couldn't connect to the server by the way, the same you get when you try to browse without having a connection. My default browser is FireFox, but I have also tried switching default to stock browser and chrome so the page would be opened there, and they garner the same result. Coincidentally I have been perfectly fine signing in on FireFox with a different device. I think this pretty much excludes the browser as the culprit, so it seems like a device problem. Possibly a setting somewhere?
In any case, if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them!
I had a similar issue, I realised that it was because I was using adguard DNS. Turned that off and it now works 100% of the time.
I'm having this problem with the WiFi at the gym. I don't have adguard either. Not sure what causes this. I'm also using Firefox, but I didn't have any problems with my HTC.
I usually find it's because most sites use https and the sign in pages are using http.
Try going to a site that still uses http, my site of choice, as it's easy to remember is:

I did indeed have Blokada installed with adguard DNS enabled. But even uninstalling it didn't solve the issue for me. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Thanks for the suggestion! Just visisted a couple of http only sites, and they loaded just fine. So I suppose my issue is elsewhere.
Http://neverssl.com is useful for when you are trying to sign on to a wifi portal and need to go to a page that won't redirect to https and fail.
So I found a setting in the device settings for a DNS server. Switching it to 'automatic' allowed me to access the login site for the WiFi service, so yesterday I was able to use the connection. Unfortunately, after a device reboot, it failed to allow me to sign in again. Every time this happens, it tries to direct me to connectivitycheck.platform.hicloud.com and then fails to connect. Luckily due to my success earlier, I had the link to the sign-in page in my history and that allowed me to visit the sign-in page directly. Visiting neverssl did nothing for me in any of the cases, by the way. All in all I suppose it has something to do with the DNS settings of the device, even though changing them to the settings that worked for me before didn't do anything for me this time.
Whenever I want to connect to an open WiFi that requires a login afterwards (e.g. at airports etc.), I fail to get redirected to the corresponding page. I have tried to copy the link and open it in a browser but it didn't help. See screenshot attached.

You didn't provide important info - are you on stock MIUI and are you using any ad blocker?
If you do, then whitelist:.
http://connect.rom.miui.com/
Every time you want to login to a hotspot, MIUI wants to post something to the given site.
We could only guess what kind of info it takes from the phone and sends to China
i used the workaround to go to browser manually and typed 1.1.1.1
that worked in 95% of the cases

I may be a bit slow here but I dont see how this would fix the problem that I am not forwarded to the corresponding login page.

Please try and we will see then if your problem is caused by connect.rom.miui.com being blocked
Stock MIUI wants to go 'home' to post some data (we don't know what data and what they do with, so IT IS scare) every time right before going for the loging page for hotspots
Of course, if you don't want to allow posting the data to its server, you keep their server site blocked, but you will not be able to open hotspot login pages from MIUI stock

Read yourself the screenshots you posted.
See connect.rom.miui.com and read the previous posts
You should solve yourself by either:
a) disable all adblockers you have, it might be also that your private DNS is blocking the access
Or
b) if you have the ad-blocker like AdAway, DNS66, Blokada or so, whitelist connect.rom.miui.com
You should be able to open the 'page' https://connect.rom.miui.com

But on the other side, be aware that apparently your Xiaomi phone always posts 'some data' to that server
For that reason people who maintain hosts sources for adblockers, put that domain to be blocked
Hence it's up to you, you either want to protect yourself from the phone sending 'some data' (who knows what) to that server - and not being able to connect to the public WiFi access like yours
Or
Allow access and don't care about what data your phone sends every time
Or
Buy another phone, not MIUI, or unlock Bootloader and install some custom ROM instead of the stock MIUI
