AT&T just blocked my N910T3 running full Note 7 rom - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Warning / FYI:
After installing and running Nemesis Note 7 Rom, AT&T suspended my service tonight and also blocked / blacklisted my imei. Mind you I am using an N910T3 and have been flashing custom Roms on this note 4 since January of this year. I installed the ROM yesterday and have been messing with it up until 7:30 tonight when I realized I didn't have mobile data. I thought I broke something by flashing governor tuner but uninstalling it and reapplying data fixes wasn't working so I restored a backup that had no issues and still no data. Confirmed by logging into my at&t account that it had been suspended and then began a lengthy chat with at&t rep which is how I found out they blacklisted the imei also in addition to suspending service.
The representative was adamant that the phone imei had been blocked by TMobile, but a call to them confirmed that while at&t put in the blacklisting, reported the phone as stolen as soon as Nemesis ROM registered a note 7 to their system yesterday night, and that there was nothing in their system they could do to unblock the imei. I
Long story short, after explaining the concept of custom Roms to the rep, at&t has put an unblock request in to be resolved by the 14th, hopefully it works, and just a word of warning to everyone!
PS. I had also changed build.prop product model to SM-G935F shortly after installing yesterday, so the red flag must've gone into their system as soon as it went online. Maybe developers need to stop putting the N9300 as the product model stock to avoid this!!

Another thing just came to mind as well. Nemesis was the first rom I installed that required data fixes and all that jazz because it wasn't ported exclusively for a t-mobile device. I wonder if that also had anything to do with it, as running Aurora, Project L, etc. never triggered my carrier. Unless as they get closer to the 15th when they release that deathbed update for the note 7, they are getting more and more aggressive...

Wow that sucks! Thanks for the warning. I was considering one of the Note7 ports, guess I'll just stick to CyanogenMod for now.

Did u figure this out? There's no way the phone can b deactivated? Makes no sense. Unless your straight talk month service ran out.
WOW guys
here's the scenario.
i have the at&t s4 i337 with ST (straight talk sim)
my wife has the at&t s5 g900a with ST (straight talk sim)
both rooted stock 4.4.2 and titanium pro BOTH WITH at&t software update, Knox, lookout ALL FROZEN/DISABLED
been having issues with my S4 so I took my ST sim out and put in my wife's S5 to test my sim card.
all of the sudden device management arrows /at&t software update shows up in the bar on my Wifes S5
immediately the s5 became completely disabled to any network capability.
checked apn settingsetc etc. the s5 was COMPLETELY dead to any network.
5 hours on phone back n forth with ST and AT&T they blamed each other for my issue (saying the other was blocking the service)
Come to find out, the S4 ive been using for over a year, that i bought on ebay has a BAD IMEI! (never thought to check)
Bottom line, for some reason when i put the ST sim from my phone (bad imei-s4) into her S5 it triggered some sort of update that shut off network communication on the S5. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AT&T Software update disabled on the S5!!!!
SOLVED
Unfortunately i am going to have to buy myself a new phone because i cant keep a stolen phone in good conscious, and i went and bought a new ST Sim for wifes phone and transferred to it, now her phone is all back to good.(must have flagged the sim itself)
Moreover, i would like to know, for future reference, HOW/WHY could At&T force an update to shut down network/sim card when AT&t update and knox etc etc was frozen/disabled in Titanium??????
Even MORE, what other apps can i disable or freeze on the S5 to prevent ANY future automatic/forced updating to occur???
Is there a full freezable apps list for the S5 ? Specifically ones for at&t updates?
i mean, i assumed OTA stuff was strickly FW upgrades only (i.e. like 4.3 to 4.4 etc etc)
Freeze the following to stop all updates:
AT&T Software Update.
FWUpgrade.
LocalFOTA.
Samsung Push Service.
Security Policy Updates.

Updated m9 latest OTA update and phone forgot whos it was

We have a family plan with T-mobile, and three of the four phones are the HTC One m-9. Mine is a Galaxy note 5.
My son's HTC phone received the latest OTA update three days ago. The one dated 9/27/16 with version number 3.39.531.21. It is available here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m9-t-mobile/news/
I have never rooted it, it being my son's phone, but I've rooted my own phones in the past.
We plugged it in and started the update and went to bed.
In the morning on the way to school, my son showed me the initial encryption screen. It would not take his password. He and I tried several times. He has allways had the same password and has never changed it - he is required to not change it without telling us or he knows he will lose his phone.
At a loss, I booted into the stock recovery and wiped the cache, and then did a system reset.
Now the Google "Verify your account" screen is impassable. It does not remember the Google account that we have always used with this phone, and so now there is no way to actually use the phone.
I also tried reinstalling the 3.39.531.21 update using the link above. The rom updated seemingly perfectly, but I still have the same security block.
I will be calling T-mobile to see if i get anywhere, but I also thought I would ask here since I doubt they will have much to offer me. This is not a stolen or transferred phone - we bought it direct from the T Mobile website brand new and the receipt for this phone is still in my email. My son's google account is the only account that has ever been on it. Is there any way to get around the google theft verification?

Nexus 6, T-Mobile and MMS problem

This has been a frustrating issue. My wife and I both have Nexus 6 phones. She has the 32gb & I have the 64gb version. Hers recently started not receiving MMS messages. Anything with a large picture would simply never show up. Anything with a very small graphic or group text would show up as "Non-text content". Here are the steps we've taken to solve this:
1. TMO started by insisting it was an APN issue. So she edited her APN. Didn't help.
2. We then swapped SIMs. Hmmmm. My phone then behaved like hers while hers could then send/receive MMS.
3. TMO said ok maybe it's the SIM. They sent us a new one. SAME result. Her phone wouldn't receive MMS.
4. Out of frustration, I factory reset her phone and reset the APN info. Didn't help. (Cleaned up her phone of some trash programs though. :laugh
5. TMO engineering says they still can't find anything on their end. Elevate to tech supervisor. She tells us to go a TMO store (right near us) to try a THIRD SIM. OK, we do. SAME RESULT. We tried swapping SIMs around again and the same thing happens. My SIM in her phone, everything works. Her SIM in mine, I can't receive MMS.
6. TMO store guy suggests MAYBE (but unlikely) that there is something her account has that's stored on the SIM when its activated that causes the phone to freak. Also says it's above his pay grade .
So now we are again waiting on TMO to poke around further on their end. My question for all you smart types here is:
Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Is there anything you know of that could be causing it? I think it's a bad provisioning somewhere in the dark recesses of TMO. The ONLY change we made to our plans (which seems just coincidental) is that we moved from the 2 lines Unlimited for $100 plan to the over-55 Unlimited plan. We did this maybe 3 weeks ago. But the features are all the same on both plans.
We are both on the same Android 7.0 final OTA firmware updates from Google. NBD92G
Would there be ANY chance that a sideload firmware update would make any difference? We're getting desperate here. Any & all suggestions welcome.
I wonder if her SIM is configured for wifi calling. There has been a conflict between wifi calling and mms for awhile. I've seen it reported several times where this T-Mobile forum post helps in that case
Don't use old firmware... I had issues on certain custom ROMs and old firmware where MMS wouldn't work over WiFi. Never as bad as you were getting.
If you wanna stay stock, sideload the latest OTA to go to NGI55D. Anything older than that is vulnerable to Blueborne exploit, which is a HUGE security concern IMO. I can confirm MMS is working correctly (even with WiFi enabled) on bone stock NGI55D as well as custom ROM Dirty Unicorns v11.7.1 which includes September security patch.

I've had this issue on most LOS roms. i ended up making a custom APN i flash when i try a rom built on LOS.
Yeah, it sure sounds like a problem with account partitioning, or something else with the account that gets associated with the SIM on initial use. What if you try the problem SIM in a phone that is not a Nexus 6? I wonder if you could get a new sim and set it up in a different phone, then transfer it to the problem phone?
OK all, finally got a TMO engineer who agreed with my assessment -- that it was a hidden provisioning problem. She nuked my wife's line and recreated it from scratch. Everything works great now. Frustrating that we had to go through about 15 phone calls and over 3 hours of phone time to get it resolved.

Carrier switch help! VZW to ATT

Hey all! Forgive my ignorance, it's been a long time since I've done anything with firmware on Android phones (since I flashed a custom ROM to my Motorola Droid X about 10 years ago, lol). I've been poring over these forums for a few hours now and trying to piece some information together, but I could really use a hand from some more experienced folks.
Here's my situation: I'm in the U.S. I own an AT&T SM-N950U, and a Verizon SM-N950U. The Verizon phone is no longer being used (since April of 2018). I accidentally dropped the AT&T phone and heavily damaged the screen/digitizer and chassis, and would like to go back to using the Verizon phone, but on AT&T's network. I swapped the AT&T SIM to the VZW phone, and I was surprised to see that after a reboot, the AT&T splash screen came up, and after a factory reset, acted just like a new AT&T phone. It will send and receive data, SMS, and phone calls. However, the phone is still running Oreo, and when I tried to update it through OTA or through Samsung Smart Switch, it said that the phone was up to date. A little digging in the settings shows me that the phone is still considered a VZW-branded phone (ATT/ATT/VZW), and I believe this is the reason why I'm not able to receive the OTA updates. I also noticed that I no longer get 5G service, and I'm worried that there may be other functions missing too. I've seen BlueFox721's guide on carrier switching, and decided to do a bit more research before making an attempt, but I figured I would ask some questions.
First off, my main goal is to get this VZW Note 8 to work with all intended functionality of an up-to-date AT&T Note 8, including future OTA updates, bloatware, the whole deal. Is this actually possible?
If it is possible, can it be done without tripping Knox and hindering Samsung functionality?
I've read that root isn't possible with any bootloader past v3... I'm running v4 (N950USQU4CRF3). Is root necessary to switch carriers, or is it as simple as flashing an AT&T firmware with a newer bootloader version than what I currently use?
Again, I know a lot of this information is out there, but there's just so much to comb through I thought it might be better to just ask in regards to my particular situation, in case I'm not understanding something correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

US Cellular Note 9 no longer updating on AT&T?

Back in July I got a steal on a new US Cellular Galaxy Note 9, so I immediately threw my iPhone 6S SIM card into it and went through several rounds of software updates. After the last update the splash screen switched to AT&T and it suddenly had several AT&T apps. It didn't TOTALLY eliminate the US Cellular stuff because I had to delete at least one app and change the Samsung browser's default home page.
Due to the iPhone SIM card and some stuff on AT&T's side, it would not do VoLTE or WiFi calling until I got a new SIM and had AT&T use the IMEI from an AT&T Galaxy Note 9 (read it off one from the store). I did that in late August and the only remaining issue O noticed was that my MMS messages will not download as long as I am on WiFi.
I just noticed what may be a new issue: I think I stopped getting carrier updates. Looking on AT&T's site, I see that they have multiple newer updates with the latest from September 18th:
https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...tep_KM1278532?make=Samsung&model=SamsungN960U
My "Security Patch Level" says May 1, 2019, while AT&T's website says that there have been 4 updates since then (latest at Security Patch Level September 1, 2019).
My baseband version doesn't quite match any of the ones associated with AT&T updates, though their May 22nd update seems to be the most similar (AT&T's N960USQS1CSE1 compared with my N960USQU1CSE3).
I recall that the new phone updated multiple times and was still on Oreo before it updated again to Pie, and again to AT&T-flavored Pie. I figure the final update was really just adding the AT&T apps and splash screen, but it somehow stopped me from getting further updates from US Cellular. I'm pretty sure I had an AT&T SIM card inserted for all of my updates.
On that note, I believe I tossed the original SIM and US Cellular does not operate in my region (only showed up here through a salvage store). I'm not easily able to get another US Cellular SIM for triggering it to revert to a US Cellular ROM. I'm not interested in custom ROMs and all that and ultimately just want to keep my phone up to date the same way a normal AT&T customer would after buying theirs from AT&T. I thought the Note 9 adding carrier customizations to match the inserted SIM would take care of all this automatically (half the point, right?) but I guess I was wrong.
Is it possible to get carrier updates like I was getting before? If not, what would you guys recommend for getting up to date and staying up to date? Thanks!

I'll check it out when I get back to my PC. Thanks! I assume it's something I need to flash with Odin?
