When I insert a SIM card into my phone, it always reboots after it finds signal. So I could be in airplane mode, but when I disable it, the phone reboots just after it finds signal! This first happened on MiniCM7, then I tried GinderDX, but still the same! I have unlocked bootloader, Alfs v09a and GingerDX v028, if that matters...

I don't think that would help, because it worked perfectly even with custom kernel. I used the same ROM and kernel all the time, then suddently the SIM card rebooting problem appeared. The problem was there too with Alfs 08!
No one can help me?
Maybe its a problem with your sim card chip? It may have been corrupted or damaged. Go to a communications store and check..

Or just try using the sim card on another phone..

My SIM card is not damaged, it's the phones fault. What should I do?
Try downgrading to 2.1 all stock softwares will be restored then you can know wether it is hardware or software problem .. if it isn't solved then can be hardware problem with sim or sim slot...

How are you sure the Sim isn't damaged.. It may well work in another phone, maybe just that the x8 is highlighting that there is an issue?
Your provider will supply you another sim for free so it's easy to get that verified..
Try another sim in your phone (x8) and you'll soon find out..

Another SIM card doesn't work too in my X8, so that's not a SIM card problem.

I have the same problem.
insert your sim then press the power button
wait until bootanimation appears nd connect your charger to x8 when bootanimation is running.
your phone will boot safely but remember when ever you plug out your charger it will reboot again.
I'll tell you full solution.
wait for few days.

I have the same problem Anyone have solution for that?
Same issue here. Anyone?
I don't think this is caused by my SIM card. It happens with other SIM cards too and my SIM works fine on another phone.
It does not seem to be software either because the problem still happening after flashing the stock rom with SE PC Companion.
I even bought another Xperia with the screen damaged and tried to replace the full main board but the problem still happening. After this, I tried to replace only the screen on the other phone to see if it would work, but it didn't!
Now I don't know if I bought a damaged phone with the same problem as mine or if this problem is caused by my LCD screen (that is the only part that the phones shared).
Mine is E15a with unlocked bootloader. I flashed SEMC Debrand Engine around a week before the problem happens.
The other X8 is also E15a, but it does not have unlocked bootloader (capital R) and arrived with stock ROM and full reset, so I do not know it it was "custom flashed" before.
F** weird problem!

Unlocking bootloader is restoring the sim-lock state. I'm not too sure about that. But I hope your phone is locked back :/

Yes, my X8's bootloader is unlocked. I've bought a X8 without LCD to replace my main board and this new X8'bootloader is not unlocked.
And to give you some update, I've just found out what was the problem!
The problem was with the battery. Since I replaced it, I have had NO PROBLEM AT ALL anymore!
When I wrote the last post, I forgot that the battery was also the same in both phones (just like the screen that is from my first X8).
I will try to follow this tutorial to see if can make my phone work with the old battery, but I am not very confident that it will work.
Anyway, I'll let you know if I have some news...
Hi,
I bought Xperia Z a week ago and there was update available, I tried to update it, but the phone stuck in boot loop, I solved this via Sony Update Service. So there is new and actual software. It works fine, until the first charge, the charging was ok, but after unplugging I tried to resolve lock gesture, but it stuck and restarts, the restart repeat several times. And after every charging, there are frome three to five restarts and then the phone is available to using.
Unfortunately, the Backup and restore app is not working, it stuck at 8% and then the phone restarts. So I decided to use SUS again, but it doesn't helped. The restarts are still there, no matter if original or non-original charger, so there is no connection to used/downloaded apps.
Is there any help to this issue?
I don't rooted the phone, but the phone is bought as used from credible store.
Thanx for answers
FW: 10.1.1.A.1.253
I'd suggest to restore the phone to factory default and return it to the store. It could be a hardware issue, that the phone receives a to high voltage when removing it from the charger.

bump
when I charge the phone to 80%, not full, and then unplug, the phone doesn't restart
Something defiantly seems off. It should not restart. Loke other suggestion it try a factory reset, if that doesn't work u might need to contact Sony for exchange or repair.

try option 2 if option 1 fails
option 1: Repair through Sony Update Service followed by a Factory Reset under settings > backup & resets. (Internal Wipe)
option 2: Flash another FTF file
but then again, it seems like a hardware issue. Suggest you get an exchange if its still under warranty or whatever.

1 - how to repare through SUS? when I connect phone to SUS it show me only the option to re-update phone and it delete all files, so after that is wipe necessary too?
2 - where to get FTF file?

if you bought the phone just a week ago, then why dont you ask your phone-company to resolve the issue. Phone-company is your retailer and from where you purchased the phone.
Why to take risks at your side....

op 1- when it says that your phone is up to date there should but a blue line of words saying something repair your phone if you are having issues, just click on that.
op 2- android development section and some in the general section too.
like i said if you seriously dont want to go through all that hassle just take it back to the shop and ask for a new one and show them that youre pissed off and demand for an exchange or something. Show them how it restarts lol.

Hi - My XZ1 is one week old, on stock, unrooted and having .257 fw. I have not disabled any of the apps. I am in an area where I have only 2G. I have tried with GSM only and WCDMA (Preferred)/GSM option for network.
When I reach home, I disable 2g as I have wifi at home. Again, when I re-enable it either thru quick settings or settings proper, it does not get enabled. It forces me to restart the phone. Once the phone is restarted, i can enable the mobile data thru quick settings. Any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It is the Sony PC Companion software for Windows which will be installed if you successfully connect to the PC for the first time (or you can download and install it if that does not happen). Once you connect the phone to the PC using the USB cable and start the PC Companion, you have an option to repair the phone. It will wipe the phone and the internal SD card (not the external Card) so you will have to back up the phone using the backup option in PCC (You will anyway be prompted by the PCC to backup when you try to repair - Just note that it can be a lengthy process if you have a lot of data.
Thanks a lot for the info.
I'm new to this.
A totally random event. I restarted my phone one evening last week and it show no sim. Using the LG support tool I had multiple failed attempts to update the software. Then as sudden a the sim registration had disappeared it came back to life. All fine until again the phone just stopped registering the sim.
Phone is secondhand. And I have tried numerous times removing, cleaning and replacing the SIM. Tried another active SIM on the same network with no luck.
I've never had a 'bricked' phone so don't know what to expect but I imagine the phone wouldn't even boot up!
I have now rooted the phone and installed CWM recovery, still no joy and have in desperation performed a hard reset. Nada!
Software is V10h. I read something about EFS folder to backup but all I could find is a text file. The IMEI is not registering on the phone. It could be a very simple answer but currently I'm stumped. I have requested a replacement SIM but have little hope this will resolve the issue.
I hope someone has an answer...

re-flash 10h or 20a kdz. look for various tutorials on the forum. (btw, your phone isnt registring on network cuz your imei isnt being read, probably due to failed upgrade process
(or some other bug). it should be fixable though)
also, replacement sim wont help. its your cell phone that's faulty, either hardware or software, not the SIM itself
also, i'm not sure how it goes if your IMEI is blacklisted by your cell phone company - is it possible the phone was stolen? perhaps the original owner reported it stolen to his carrier and they blocked the IMEI?

If the IMEI is blacklisted, the phone will still show it correctly in the settings and the carrier will just block based on this. This is why changing an IMEI is illegal in most countries and why discussions on how to change it aren't allowed on XDA as it can get the site in serious trouble.

check if ur gapps are fine. reinstall all gapps. maybe u deleted some app that u shouldnt. happened to me too 2 weeks ago and i had no sim so signal , i couldnt see my imei, etc. if that doesnt help , then reinstall ur rom or install a custom one. I mean maybe u must be sure to check if u deleted some system app that u shouldnt. Since u have double checked with other sim , if its not from an app , then the above thread is right, the owner could have reported the phone stolen

There have been some problems with this, but normally due the the RIL on CyanogenMod-based ROMs. I would suggest that you find the time to either reflash v10h or upgrade to v20A/B/C (as appropriate for your region) and see if that fixes it for you.
you still havent mentioned anything about gapps. this means you checked and you are sure that they are fine ??
So I have tried flashing software V20A using the LG software updater and now all I get is the phone booting into 'S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading'
I can get into any other screen, despite pressing all combination of buttons together.
I have attempted reflashing back to V10H and try and get it back to how I had the phone. No luck there
And also tried again with V20A. No joy.
Is there anything else I could try?

Hi again. I ordered one of these. Lets test it. Last resort
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780274&page=165
I've got a more or less big problem. My Xperia SP cannot recognize, that my SIM-card is inserted. If I turn it on it doesn't ask for the PIN and furthermore I can't receive or send SMS's, I can't receive calls or call somebody and I haven't got mobile data. I tried to insert my SIM-card in another sony phone and it didn't work. I also put another working SIM-card in my phone and it also couldn't recognize it. I think (I'm actually sure) it's caused by the non-functional phone apk, but maybe also the SIM-card is broken.
What shall I do? I have a TWRP backup, but I'm not 100% sure, whether it is from before or after. What is a less- or non-risky possibility to replace the phone.apkor is there a better method to repair the phone?
edit: I found out, if my phone is turned on and I remove the SIM-card, it realizes it, and reboots.
Please help me!
???
Sorry, but why is my post ticked with a hook??? The problem isn't solved yet!

First of All thanks for your reply. But I already took another SIM-card (which on Xperia L works fine) and put it into my device but there were the same problems. Yesterday I downloaded the SemcPhone.apk file, pushed it to /system/app and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted. Then it asked for the PIN but after unlocking I got a bunch of Force closes and they didn't stop.. Even after rebooting again I had the problem, so I deleted the apk file again. But it's now the same like I described there above :/
Reflash ROM.. You have phone.apk problems aswell so this should fix it
Okay.. And the stock ROM, is this the "Deodexed stock ROM" (777MB) from android development or the "normal" stock ROM (odexed) (12.0.A.2.245) also from android development section?
No, to prevent any issues just open Sony Update Service (can be downloaded from the Sony website) and "restore" your phone..
So go back to full stock
Okay cool thank you I'll try it

The last version of Sony Update Service misses the XSP.
I have contacted Sony Mobile to point this out. Untill we recieve a new update you need to use the PC Companion to restore your phone or you need to use Flashtool

Okay, then I'll do that
:/
I tried it with PC Companion but when it had to start repairing and it booted the phone into flashmode (I think so, because the LED was green) and then PC Companion said: "The phone contains modified software, which cannot be updated" and below "Error 2003" ..
I tried it 2 times and both the same :/
My phone has unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and has the DoomKernel, no custom rom.

Well that is unfortunate. You need to relock bootloader and reflash with flashtool.
You cannot use Sony software with unlocked bootloader
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Oh! That's actually bad. But then I first have to flash back the stock kernel, then relock bootloader, repair with PC Companion and eventually unlock Bootloader again if necessary for me, right? Just for being sure.
Yes correct you need stock kernel then lock bootloader, then re flash/repair phone
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Ok good. Now the last question: from where can I get the right stock kernel? I found a post from DoomLoRD, where he wrote, that you have to flash stock kernel.sin and no FTF kernel but I couldn't find a stock kernel.sin and in another post from alivanov79, alivanov79 posted a link to an FTF kernel. So Do you know which one is the right one?

I am facing the same problem, but before I start doing stuff, may I know if your problem has been solved?
My Xperia SP as well on occassion doesn't detected sim card. Sometimes when I need to make phone calls the most, it starts to do it. I am planning to send it for warranty, as I am having another 20 days before the warranty expires.
Surprisingly, many Sony Xperia models users have experience of having a phone that doesn't read SIM cards. Google reveals it all.

Hey,
yeah, I'm still alive
So, the thing is, my problem there had been caused by myself, fiddling around with some root stuff, so it hadn't been my phone's fault.
But what I did is I just flashed another ROM because I didn't see another solution and it really drove me crazy not being able to use the SIM card related functions.
Well, keeping your post in mind I don't think you'd like to flash another ROM (I probably shouldn't have done that, too).
So if you didn't already try to repair your phone with PC Companion, that'd be the first thing, I'd do in your case.
Otherwise I'd send it for warranty as you considered it already.
Yeah, my sister's Xperia L also has that problem and that's really unfortunate.
So I hope, my "advide" could help at least a bit although there may not be plenty of hints, but yeah.
If I shocked you with that essay I'm sorry, too

Lol I don't think ROM flashing is the root problem, as I have been using CM11 for a month (and maybe more). The problem starts appearing lately..
I will flash stock ROM and relock bootloader and then reflash stock via PCC to see if it will fix the problem
Anyway thanks for the reply!
No, that's not even something to be called "essay"....
