Process of putting new ROM on the tablet - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a new 5th gen 7" fire tablet (5.3.2.0), I'd like to get rid of all the amazon stuff and put a basic Android ROM on the tablet, but i'm very new to this and very unsure of the termanoligy and process involved, i have tried to read up on it here over last few days but the problem is there is soooo much info i don't know if i'm coming or going.
So from my understanding i need to backflash from 5.3.2.0 to 5.3.1.0 however that is about as far as i can go, i'm lost after this as there is so much written about kingflash/bootloader/OTA updates (which i need to block) etc etc. would someone be so kind as to show me a link to the best way to do this given current state of affairs with my firmware and also any pitfalls i should watch out for, please help i'm so and the Mrs is moaning she wants her new tablet.

[Q] services to Root my Kindle fire HD

Hi Forum
I`m just new to the forum, and have been looking at ways to root the AMAZON Kindle fire HD, and to be perfectly honest with all forum members i just dont have a clue on how i can Root it myself. I live in the Glasgow. Scotland.
Could anyone direct me, or know of anyone who could do this for me, as i dont think i have the confidence to go about this myself without bricking it?? I know it may be simple for most of you computer wizards out there, but nightmare for me. I got this 7" Fire HD for my good ladies xmas, and it was not my first choice Tablet, (so i`m stuck with it)
I would like to use MY Tablet for Google apps and ALL things Android without Amazon Using me as a cash cow. Dont get me wrong, Amazon will be okay for some item that i may want, but i dont want to be controlled by them.
If anyone can assist me it would be very much appreciated
Cheers

Hey man well welcome to our community! This forum is full of information on all different types of devices, including the kindle fire HD 7" model. My suggestion to you is do a little more research on this forum. A lot of people on here will just tell you to do the reasearch before posting questions like this because we have all done the same and it is all on this forum. Don't take it the wrong way, it's just are way of saying you might want a little more knowledge on what exactly rooting a kindle means and what comes with it. I can point you in a few directions; Here's some links to look into:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 this link is good and I believe they just added an autmoted root to the tool! Also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547 this link as you can see is for begginers, like you. It helped me out so much with the language and just about everything! Just remember research, read and read some more and it will not be as confusing! If you need anything else just post back here and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction. Good Luck!:good:

New Amazon Fire Tablet

Hi
I have ordered an Amazon Fire Tablet from Amazon and it should be here soon. Ideally I would like to root it and put CM12.1 on the tablet. Main reason for this is speed/KODI.
I have had a read around the forum and my head is blown! So much information to take in.
Once I get the tablet, I am planning not to connect it to the internet to stop it updating.
If anyone has purchased the tablet from Amazon recently, what version of the software are they shipped with?
Can someone please give me a high level guide of the steps to take?
Apologies for the 1000's of questions, it has been a while since I have done anything like this.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Riyaz_7
My recently ordered tablet shipped with 5.1.1.0. It had a bit of dust behind the screen so I got a replacement which came with 5.3.1.0.
Regarding steps, the general thread is good enough.

Start with forum index and CM 12.1 thread. Pay particular attention to the OP and recent posts. Plan on doing some reading as everything you need has been posted multiple times. Ask specific questions as needed (after doing preliminary homework).

Need Help with Blu R1 HD, new to all this stuff.

So i just recently bought this Blu R1 HD, and was wondering if i can install another Android OS onto so that i dont get amazon ads anymore or any amazon app for that instance. Im new to all this Android lingo like bootloader, root, etc.... Can someone tell me if its possible, and if so how do i do it? or point me to the right place that has a tutorial on how to do it. I tried looking at youtube but i dont understand anything they are talking about. I need everything dumbed down.
Thank You!
Yamadeen, I just very recently went thru the same questions and it is a bit confusing at first but there are a lot of guides and members willing to help and share some knowledge.
The very first thing for you to do is to figure out what version you are currently running on your phone. If the latest, which I forgot the version number right now, then you could face some challenges and obstacles in the process - if possible at all.

Help for the Helpless Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012

Folks be gentle,
I am very new to the Android community as I have used IOS for nearly every aspect of my day to day life. I have an older Kindle Fire HD 7" that I purchased back in 2012 to use on deployments overseas with the military.
I have not used it in probably 4 years or more and would love to get something out of it. My first instinct was to see if I could load a Linux based OS on it but I am running into issues since its such an old model It seems like most of the literature is out of date and links do not work. I was interested in Ubuntu touch (looks very promising)
I am certainly not lazy but I am just not finding the right info. I see that TWRP is necessary to do this as well as rooting the device.
I am an IT Professional and I am lost in this realm as there is so much ubiquitous information out there that often leads to dead ends and frustration.
I have read about using Apk's and using the ess file system, to load the root but that seems to never work (parsing error).
The point of the project is to get some use out of a nice piece of tech that is perfectly usable and not toss it on the trash heap or into a thrift store somewhere. If that is possible I would love to get some help here from some of the experts.
I am begging for some help. Anything you can offer up: links, leads, files, whatever is beneficial at this point. I feel like something that should be so easy is making me crazy lol.
This thread has everything you need to know about getting TWRP installed. It links to other threads, and within those threads some of the links are broken. Just go to the last couple pages of those threads and you might be able to find somebody who rehosted them. If you decide to install an Android ROM, crDroid is the latest/most up-to-date. Good luck.

Fire OS (5.3.6.4) to Android?

Reposting per recommendation from another thread on XDA. Sorry for posting in the wrong location!

Hey guys, I'm brand new to some of this stuff so please bear with me. I've tried hunting all over the internet for help and at this point XDA is my last hope.
I've got a Kindle Fire 7 (5th Gen) that I previously used for reading books and whatnot. It's gotten so slow to the point it's intolerable and even on factory reset it's lagging pretty bad. I've wanted to try to remove the Fire OS from it for some time but never really could figure it out and today when I did try to do so I ran across some problems. I'm at the point where I really don't know what I'm doing and I don't want to brick it.
My version, according to the tablet, is Fire OS 5.3.6.4. I'd really like to get this thing converted over but I'm seeing that in some cases this device cannot be rooted because it cannot be downgraded. I'd like to hear it directly from the professionals that do this stuff in their daily lives.
So, I suppose in summary, is it even remotely possible for me to get this thing over to some kind of standard Android? If so, how do I do it? You're really going to have to break it down for me because I don't know anything about Flash Fire and some of these mods I'm seeing. I do computers, not tablets. Lol.
Thank you so so much!

This is the procedure you'll need to follow. Not for the faint of heart; involves opening the device and running software you likely have no familiarity with. I suggest you consider a $64 USD Onn tablet from Walmart that runs the latest version of Android right out of box. Good luck, mate.
