For the "S4 Active" ... can I also use the ROMs that are made for the "S4" ? I don't want to get stuck with a handset which is not widely supported, but I like the thought of owning a rugged phone.
There is a ROM "Galaxy S4 (Intl)" which is a CM13
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltexx
but the newest "Galaxy S4 Active (Intl)" is still on CM12
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jactivelte
As I have a good offer to buy a "Galaxy S4 Active" tomorrow lunchtime, please answer quickly if you have any information about this question.
Thanks a lot

The answer depends.
First thing first, it MUST NOT be the AT&T version (i537), which has basically no support. The most supported S4 Active is the LTE-A (powered by a SD800 and with alot more [ported] ROMs, but not here on XDA). But usually when you talk about S4 Active is the GT-I9525 version (jactivelte).
The S4 Active hasn't got a great development, and currently the latest working patchrom works for TW 5.0.x based ROMs. There are some CM13 Unofficial builds, which works great, and recently a dev posted even an almost completely working CM14 (Bluetooth doens't work, WiFi is a bit bugged). BTW, he also posted a patch for CM13 and CM14 both, but they must be implemented in the source code itself, and not in the final ROM, and that mean you cannot flash this patch over any S4 ROM.
I successfully finished my Ubuntu setup today, and I'm currently downloading the compressed repos of CM13 and CM14. In 2 days I should be able to sync them and compile them, this time publishing the source code. In poor words, I would be able to start to compile CM14 builds, and MAYBE finally publishing a working PatchROM for CM13/CM14, but that's not easy, and I have to deal with time because of the school. So, if you could spend something more for an S4, I advice you to buy an S4, but if the price is really well, you can think on it.

I don't have anything to add, I just want to say thanks for taking the time to continue development for the S4 Active. I'm sure there will be many others who appreciate your efforts.
I think if you are able, creating a patch for S4 ROMs would provide the most benefit for the community.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer. I have bought the phone now, it is a "GT-i9295" (jactiveltexx, ARMv7, MSM8960, Adreno 320, 2GB).
I see in your signature: "Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, GT-I9295 : 16/2Gb, SD600, ..." Looks like that is exactly my device?
"6.0.1, Resurrection Remix 5.7.4, TWRP 3.0.2, Rooted"
Which folder on http://www.resurrectionremix.com/ is it?
I still have the original 5.0.1 ROM on it.
Is there anything I should do NOW (e.g. backup the original OS) before I start going through the whole liberation process now?
And then - where do I start?
LuckyNuke1310 - please keep up the good work! Much appreciated!
P.S.: I am happy to donate some Bitcoin when I actually start using one of your solutions.

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU, to you Ivan LuckyNuke1310 - your post helped me a lot.
I have now run a 5.1.1 Android (CM12.1 of August 2016) for quite a while, and it seems to be working well (apart from this new problem).
Actually, I was quite proud when I rooted and CM-flashed my first ever Android phone what a liberation!
So ... Happy New Year to you, and all the best. Keep us updated about your progress, please.

Sorry if I didn't answer you before, but I didn't read the message.
However, the ROM is old now. You can however install any CM13. If you search in the tread you'll find a drive folder with some builds. Download and flash the latest one. Or download mine, I suppose it's a daily driver except for some issues.

This was not a magical event where the device is now fully supported on AOSP. Many devs worked very hard for quite some time to get this device working as it stands today (most of it done by the CM dev team). Each dev has done more than just what I'm listing below, but these are the highlights.
@noobnl / Utkanos both worked on the device bring up, config settings, ramdisk and debugging
Cyanogen did most of the kernel work bringing in the needed commits to bring the device up to CAF KK compliance
Arcee helped with some RIL and kernel issues
Slayher helped with debugging and testing
I worked on audio issues and am doing in-progress work on the new NFC chip in VZW/TMO variants
And several others (whom I'm forgetting) helped in other ways

Again thank you.

It happened to me once yesterday on Sprint cm11. So far, nothing today on this ROM.
Edit: no sooner did I type this than I got a SOD.

I haven't had one yet. I enabled developer options, then went into performance and my min processor speed was set to 1728 so I dropped it down to 300 and set to conservative. So far so good!

Here are a few builds I've found to work well on multiple Note 3 models, I am happy to build this list if you all post in some.
W03 SlimKat
Resurrection ROM
Not personally tested but claim to be universal
AOSB Project
I'm sure there are a number more. I personally own a Sprint N900P and feel like it does not get the attention the other variants do, so I was pleased to see some of these unified builds coming out and would love to see more!!
I'm not a dev, more an advanced fan boy. Keep up the kickin' work devs, we love you for it! :good:

I don't think there is any need for this list, ALL the AOSP roms use CM build trees and since CM unified the branches in turn ALL THE AOSP roms have unified the branches.
Also these unified builds haven't just been "coming out", they have been out for months now.. This sub forum was made recently..

LOL you need to edit your post, you are in the international forum, most of the AOSP roms were released for international variant first. There are 2 international variants, 1 is exynos and 1 is snapdragon.
What you meant to say is this won't work on the exynos international variant. If you say they won't work international variant that's wrong cuz the n9005 is the snapdragon international variant.

^Well this is kind of silly...I clicked on the unified development link from the VZW Note III forum and it brought me here. So I was assuming that I was in the
unified development for domestic carriers. My mistake.
The snap varients work together, look on the zip file or the thread name if it says "hlte" that means it's a universal note 3 build. That can be used on Sprint variant or tmo, Verizon etc...
Enjoy

AOSP ROMs on N900P
I can say for sure that Carbon, AOSB and C-ROM ( using C-ROM 4.4.4 currently) will flash on the Sprint N3. I have had various issues with each, but if you read the threads you will see most issues are solved by flashing a custom kernel. Most, not all. Some issues are just AOSP related and haven't been solved yet. The threads usually clearly state that they are unified builds. When DL the ROMs I look for "HLTE" to use with my N900P. Be very careful to choose the correct kernel though. Make sure you DL and flash the correct TW or AOSP kernel accordingly.

That should be fairly easy since there are only like 3 to choose from. 4 counting stock. That I'm aware of anyway. Beast, lean kernel, and temasec. I briefly toyed with the idea to port one but couldn't find a good guide and from what I did find couldn't make any sense of it. Tad more involved than I had hoped. Learning to use github is apparently step number 1.

URGENT!
Found a man on the xda ready to help porting CyanogenMod 12 on our apparatus (g800h);
(he ported it to s3 Neo (this appart has exactly the same characteristics as our: Snapdragon 400, Adreno 305, 1.5Gb RAM, 16Gb built, the resolution is the same);
He is already trying to collect firmware, but he needs someone who knows English and can communicate with him, as well as understand what firmware, android and rom
Here is his gmail for communication (for example through the hangouts): [email protected]
(do not forget to say about the CM12 port on s5 mini (g800h));

sent msg. lets see. i'll keep you posted.
I got CyanogenMod 12 "working" now for the G800F. WiFi and Radio are not yet working but it should hopefully not be that difficult to do this.
It seems due to the Exynos 3470 the G800F is rather similar to the Galaxy Light which has already been ported to CM11/12 by TeamRegular (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/dev-cyanogenmod-porting-t2918432). The repository for CM12 is here: https://github.com/cm-gardalte/
In the next steps I will compare my current state with that of the Galaxy Light repo and try to get WiFi and Radio to work. When I have a usable state I will post the ROM in the development section.
If other developers want to join, please tell me.
Edit:
As the G800F and G800H are too different (Exynos vs. Snapdragon) my CM12 port only works for the G800F and it is unlikely that it will work for the G800H with minor modifications. So please don't ask me about porting this to the G800H.

Thanks for the offer. At the moment not that much works. At least Wifi, BT, Radio and Audio are not working. I don't know how much time I will have this week to fix this. Let's see. At least I will try to get the repos to github so that others can built CM12 it too.

I looked devices with similar hardware and found the Moto G XT1068 (DUAL), which also has the Snapdragon 400, but is the MSM8226 while ours is the MSM8228. In your opinion, would this ROM to adapt to the S5 Mini DUOS?

At the first look MSM8226 and MSM8228 are very similar, Samsung even names its kernel config base file msm8226-....
The bigger problem might be camera, radio and other stuff that might be different between Samsung and Motorola. Better stick with a Samsung device - and use the Moto G 2nd Gen as a reference to see what the difference between the MSM8226 devices are. The Moto G port does not seem to be that complex so most code for MSM8226 seems to be already unified, or it is all as binary blobs in the vendor folder and might be Motorola specific.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo seems to be very similar: both use an MSM8228 and Adreno305 graphics. Lollipop has already been ported to the S3 Neo:

The kernel configs of the S3 Neo and S5mini also have the same base (msm8226-sec_defconfig), only the variants are different (msm8226-sec_s3ve3g_defconfig vs. msm8228-sec_atlantic3geur_defconfig). You can compare these files to see the differences between the two devices (maybe not that big). Also make sure that the base config has really the same contents (msm8226-sec_defconfig). At least this might give you an impression how similar/different both devices are and where you have to make changes.
If you want to compile the kernel, you can find the sources in this repo:
https://github.com/tobigun/samsung-kernel-smg800h
As Samsung enforces SELinux in the stock kernel, it might be better for the beginning to compile your own with SELinux disabled. Otherwise it will be too difficult to get it booting the first time. But you can also try the stock kernel if you want.
I put my changes for the G800F on github for those who want to try CM-12 on the G800F and are able to build it:
https://github.com/tobigun/android_device_samsung_kminilte.git
https://github.com/tobigun/android_vendor_samsung_kminilte.git
https://github.com/tobigun/samsung-kernel-smg800f.git
There is also a little patch to setup the repository:
https://github.com/tobigun/kminilte-patcher.git

First of all, every credit goes to Count([email protected]). He did everything to port CM11 and its Kernel source to Gear 1.
Second, I am just a mere messenger. I am not the developer! I don't have any knowledge about building android. I just wanted to contribute to this amazing forum. If you have any question regarding complex android internal things, send them to Count himself to the email above.(Count and I are Koreans, so our English will not be good
Third, this is a development section. No noob or meaningless questions. I won't answer them(I am a student, so I don't have much time, either.).
Forth, this kernel's state is WIP(Work in progress). ANY damage or loss due to using this source is your own risk!
Fifth, this is my first time writing a thread. If I have to write something more(I heard about GNU, but not sure how it works), please kindly tell me.
Screenshots of CM11 is in attachments
I hope development of Gear 1 will rise once again with this kernel source.
Here is the Github link :

Enjoy
P.S. Count is working on CM12.1, too, but don't get excited. Too much issues in this moment.

[ROM][ALPHA][WIP]'DayDream' CM11 based Rom for Gear 1
A rom to test CM11 in Gear 1.
Warning! This rom is in early Alpha stage and is really laggy and unstable. Flash this at your own risk!
This is real CM11 based rom. Made by Korean developers(including Count). Looks really good.
Battery life is great, but again, this is really laggy and unstable! ANY damage or loss due to using this Rom is your own risk!
Working
Boot
Touch
Button
Not Working
Camera
Bluetooth pairing
and many thing I didn't(and doesn't want to) try.
Please don't fill this thread with nooby questions. The rom is mainly for developers who wants to build stable and fast rom.
Users can use it, but no spamming in this thread(e.g. XX doesn't work! halp!). Every feedback will be ignored unless you have a logcat or a really specific detailed explanations.
If you want development conversation, please contact Count with email(in OP).
Installation :
do a factory reset in TWRP
flash this rom
reboot(initial boot takes 5~10 minutes)
enjoy

Great news, do you have the github source code for the cm11 and cm12?
@litan1106
Count ports CM from existing smdk4x12(exynos 4412) devices, so we don't have any sources for CM.
I flashed the cm11 apha1 for the gear, it's a bit slow but it's looking good.

It is a sort of a variant of CM11. Mainly made for design.
Count said he had increased the performance by editing the Mali drivers, so hopefully it will be faster when he releases the next version.
any chance for android wear ?
ddaggebi WOW good work
atleast there is someone who is still interested in developing for our beloved galaxy gear wish looks better than the gear s2
Time to get the dust from my good ol' Galaxy Gear. First it was about time to get rid of Tizen on it. That downgrade manual here worked very well. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776157)
Just needed Odin 3.09 (http://androidhost.org/PVAIv) and Samsung's USB drivers (http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117) for downgrading. After this was finished and it was able to boot on the old Samsung Linux AND WITH working touchscreen, I did a reset and flashed TWRP from here with Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537338 Last part was adb sideloading this test ROM here. Of course not working at first due to missing ADB drivers. I modded these here: https://dl-ssl.google.com//android/repository/latest_usb_driver_windows.zip with that android-winusb.inf http://pastie.org/10428849 Works really really nice. Not very useful yet, but it's SOO great to see work bein done on this old device
Wow, just wow. Almost 2 years after buying this I see that people are still developing for my watch !? and kitkat 4.4.4 (and soon lollipop it seems) means a possibility for android wear maybe ! That's cool ! Big up from France to the dev if he comes here ahah
Is there a way like with null_ rom thought to still be able to have notifications on it like with TW rom ?
This looks so sweet. Hopefully Bluetooth pairing works out soon. would really like to try this out, downloading Rom now.
Thanks for all the hard work on this to all involved
Any work still being done on this?
Wait, you can install CM11 on a gear 's? Wouldn't you lose all Bluetooth stuff?

Developers says he is still working on perfecting cm11 and making cm12.1. It will take some time 'cause he has many devices to develope for.

Yes, as the op says bluetooth pairing does not work at the moment.
I see.
I've begun building CM-14.1 (~AOSP 7.1 Nougat) for LG G4 H811 (T-mobile). I intend to upload new builds about weekly, or more frequently when I have time and cool things happen in the code. I will do this until cyanogenmod starts creating "nightlies" for the H811.
Find the ROM zips here.

That's what users post here. I try to note some of the major issues I find on the individual download pages, but I don't attempt to test everything on every build. After all, there's millions of lines of code! I push the build to my phone, fire it up, and if it doesn't smoke the phone I push the build to androidfilehost.
Users tend to use their phones for different things. Some are big into game playing. I don't play games on my phone. Some send hundreds of texts per day; I don't. Some take lots of selfies and movies. I don't. So, you see, it's up to the users to discover what works and what doesn't and share the knowledge. Here is a good place to do that.
As of today the build is good enough that I'm using it as my daily driver. The only major outstanding issue that I've so far discovered is that external SD access by MTP USB still isn't working. Must use ADB or use MTP from TWRP. The GPS and SIM recognition issues seem to have been resolved.

Anything new on this project? I'm on T-Mo H811, but can see from the T-Mo updates page that only the G5 and V10 and Stylo 2 + are being considered at the moment.

Cyanogenmod reached his end mate, new builds will be under Lineage OS not cyanogenmod's. There's another ROM's like RR, Cypher or DU for H811 on 7.0/7.1, just look into LG G4 forum not TMO LG G4 directly.

Cm and stock firmware isnt the same.. Stock or based stock roms are roms using tmobiles stock firmwares.. So far we got marshmallow no nougat yer.. When theres no more updates then you use cm or aosp rom. To update to latest say next version after nougat... Have in mind that using cm its faster and better battery but camera quality its not on par with stock.. Framework they use a feneric.
As of 01/22/2017 I'm running this ROM and it's been solid so far. I had a little issue with the initial install at first it kept asking me to transfer my info from another Android device but after restarting it, all went well. Everything works except the Bluetooth. If I'm not mistaken , CM has always had a Bluetooth problem. Anyone know any trick to make it work?? But overall thank you for bringing Android N to my G4!
Currently On the 1/28 nightly and it's still going strong. The Bluetooth is working correctly and the user icon in the notification draw works as well. Keep up the good work. It's been my daily driver for a week now.
so it's safe to use coming from stock rom? Is it reliable?
Is there xposed framework out yet by rovo89 supporting this rom?

I had no issues coming from stock. As far as Xposed , it isn't compatible with Android N yet. But this ROM has everything you need IMO.
Any updates planned beyond 3/16? It's been running on my G4 since the day of release and incredibly stable.
