URGENT!
Found a man on the xda ready to help porting CyanogenMod 12 on our apparatus (g800h);
(he ported it to s3 Neo (this appart has exactly the same characteristics as our: Snapdragon 400, Adreno 305, 1.5Gb RAM, 16Gb built, the resolution is the same);
He is already trying to collect firmware, but he needs someone who knows English and can communicate with him, as well as understand what firmware, android and rom
Here is his gmail for communication (for example through the hangouts): [email protected]
(do not forget to say about the CM12 port on s5 mini (g800h));
This issue should be solved as soon as possible.

it is necessary to help people , without it he will not do anything
I have sent an email to the address provided above. Not sure if somebody else already has but I am willing to help out if they still need it...
Edit: Had a response back, I cannot help because I have the SM-G800F, not SM-G800H
Response back was
"Problem is that i dont have phone. If i had phone i would do it easily , but without phone i cant do anything. Also i can only help with qualcomm variant, i guess it is g800h, and you with g800f variant cant help me with that :/ sorry"

sent msg. lets see. i'll keep you posted.
I got CyanogenMod 12 "working" now for the G800F. WiFi and Radio are not yet working but it should hopefully not be that difficult to do this.
It seems due to the Exynos 3470 the G800F is rather similar to the Galaxy Light which has already been ported to CM11/12 by TeamRegular (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/dev-cyanogenmod-porting-t2918432). The repository for CM12 is here: https://github.com/cm-gardalte/
In the next steps I will compare my current state with that of the Galaxy Light repo and try to get WiFi and Radio to work. When I have a usable state I will post the ROM in the development section.
If other developers want to join, please tell me.
Edit:
As the G800F and G800H are too different (Exynos vs. Snapdragon) my CM12 port only works for the G800F and it is unlikely that it will work for the G800H with minor modifications. So please don't ask me about porting this to the G800H.
i am not a developer, but can support with testing.
g800f already rooted and twrp installed.
Point me out which image to test if you need support.

Gruna

just a point. did you fastboot flash the radio.img extracted from the stock g800f after you flashed the cm12 rom.
Somtimes you have to do that.

Thanks for the offer. At the moment not that much works. At least Wifi, BT, Radio and Audio are not working. I don't know how much time I will have this week to fix this. Let's see. At least I will try to get the repos to github so that others can built CM12 it too.

No, not yet. I am just at the beginning. The ril config is not yet complete, so maybe it works without flashin radio.img. But thanks for the hint.

I looked devices with similar hardware and found the Moto G XT1068 (DUAL), which also has the Snapdragon 400, but is the MSM8226 while ours is the MSM8228. In your opinion, would this ROM to adapt to the S5 Mini DUOS?
Thanks.

At the first look MSM8226 and MSM8228 are very similar, Samsung even names its kernel config base file msm8226-....
The bigger problem might be camera, radio and other stuff that might be different between Samsung and Motorola. Better stick with a Samsung device - and use the Moto G 2nd Gen as a reference to see what the difference between the MSM8226 devices are. The Moto G port does not seem to be that complex so most code for MSM8226 seems to be already unified, or it is all as binary blobs in the vendor folder and might be Motorola specific.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo seems to be very similar: both use an MSM8228 and Adreno305 graphics. Lollipop has already been ported to the S3 Neo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-s3-neo-t2983109
The kernel configs of the S3 Neo and S5mini also have the same base (msm8226-sec_defconfig), only the variants are different (msm8226-sec_s3ve3g_defconfig vs. msm8228-sec_atlantic3geur_defconfig). You can compare these files to see the differences between the two devices (maybe not that big). Also make sure that the base config has really the same contents (msm8226-sec_defconfig). At least this might give you an impression how similar/different both devices are and where you have to make changes.
If you want to compile the kernel, you can find the sources in this repo:
https://github.com/tobigun/samsung-kernel-smg800h
As Samsung enforces SELinux in the stock kernel, it might be better for the beginning to compile your own with SELinux disabled. Otherwise it will be too difficult to get it booting the first time. But you can also try the stock kernel if you want.
I put my changes for the G800F on github for those who want to try CM-12 on the G800F and are able to build it:
https://github.com/tobigun/android_device_samsung_kminilte.git
https://github.com/tobigun/android_vendor_samsung_kminilte.git
https://github.com/tobigun/samsung-kernel-smg800f.git
There is also a little patch to setup the repository:
https://github.com/tobigun/kminilte-patcher.git
No binary images so far as the radio still does not work.
The progress so far:
(Partially) working features:
Audio (basic support)
Wifi
HW accelerated gui
Bluetooth
Camera
MTP storage
USB-OTG (Keyboard, Mouse, USB-Audio but no mass storage so far)
Not working features:
Receiving and making calls
NFC
Fingerprint scanner
Untested:
Hardware sensors (Light, Orientation, Compass, Proximity, Acceleration)
Legacy sensors / Virtual sensors (Gravity, Linear acceleration, Rotation vector)
GPS

Hi all,
I've heard of the SiyahKernel for the I9300 which has dual boot functionality.
Does anybody know if this works on the I9305? Or is there a dual boot kernel available which is made for the I9305 in special?
Reason why I want to have dual boot:
I'm a huge Ubuntu fan. And what I've understood from what I've read is that it's CM(10?) based. So I'd like to use that as second rom. (I know, there isn't a version for the I9305 available right now, but I'll give it a try to port it from I9300 to the I9305.)
Thanks in advance.
As far as I was aware there is no dual boot yet for our device

If their is then its in Development .

Does it take much time to make a kernel which supports dual boot ?
Does anybody know how to port a kernel from I9300 to the I9305 ? Is it hard work to do that ?
And why does the 1GB extra and LTE support make such a difference for ROMS on the device ?
Thanks in advance.
Its not so much the difference as developers actually wanting to work on the phone . Nobody pays them its their choice what to develop . jje

1. Thats not REALLY hard, however you have to know what to do. Looking and comparing sources is good point to start. Take a look at gokhan or googy commits about dual boot for example.. Personally, I havent been interested in it, but I might look into it, why not
2. Apart from these, we have other radio, and that causes so much trouble with ROM differences..

It's cool that we have radio, but.... why do we need it ? seriously... we all have a mobile network subscription these days
Couldn't we just drop that in the beta/alpha versions, and add it in later then ? ;s

I mean, another radio, like baseband, ril etc. I wasn't talking about normal FM radio (we haven't even got one in i9305).
However, taking only these proper files (like ril + modem) from our ROMs and take them to i9300 ROMs might work, I tried some time ago doing same thing with temasek's cm10.1 and it worked.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compile fully stable and well working kernel (based on temasek's sources) therefore I do not use it now ;p

Edit: this all relates to the i957 and P7320 variants, and not the P7300/P7310
The p5att device (i957) was removed from the msm8660 kernel when CM10.1 was created. I've been trying to get some simple things like the display working using some source from CM10 without much success :-\ So I'm thinking if there isn't the next version of JB working, KitKat is looking unlikely for the time being, unless we can get some more devs to help.

Most of the issues seem to be around the display driver and the Qualcomm msm8660 implementation in jb4.2. that combined with nothing else which seems to use the same display panel means no graphics or even worse an MSM core dump. I'm not sure how to debug those either... I did manage to get log output from the kmesg but it didn't help me much, others may have better luck. Half the fun is getting it to compile in the first place...
Well, we all hope that someone will make a port of CM11

What is ION .?
Noob way :- It makes things awsome -by lauppenstepperwolf
there is awsome explaination on LX git Wiki
LX said:
#### What is Shared Memory?
Memory is usually private; an app takes a chunk and nothing else can access it.
Sometimes, it makes sense to share memory between processes; for example, an app writes to the screen buffer, while the gfx driver reads that same buffer to put it on the screen. You need a special memory system for that.
####PMEM vs. ION
Back with Gingerbread, every ARM chip maker (Qualcomm, TI, nVidia, Samsung, more?) had their own way of doing shared memory. The Qualcomm way was a system called **PMEM**.
Problem: when a vendor sells a chip to Sony and Samsung, he needs to write two drivers, one for each shared memory system.
To reduce maintenance efforts, Google introduced **ION**, a unified shared memory system, that all vendors use since ICS
Problem: from ICS forward, Qualcomm only provides graphics drivers for ION. PMEM is obsolete.
For a while, stuff still worked, but it is getting worse for us - see the Google Maps app for example.
####Move to ION
An option is to rework the kernel, replace the PMEM system with ION, and replace the old PMEM drivers with newer ION drivers. A common problem on several old devices is, that the camera chip is non-standard, and Sony (Samsung, HTC) never wrote ION drivers for the old cameras. Moving to ION then means you lose the camera completely.
A new solution is to move the kernel to ION, but have a PMEM system on top of ION so that the old camera libs can connect to it. As far as I know, this was pioneered by the Dev_Connection team that maintains the Samsung S+ i9001 (great team, hats off to Christopher83 especially).
Another implementation of an ION/PMEM hybrid was made by galaxyfreak for the HTC Explorer (Pico).
The i9001 and the Pico have similar hardware to our 2011 Xperias (2011, MSM, 512MB RAM, similar specs).
Feedback for the ION builds is very positive. Performance is good and it solves some graphics problems like the Google Maps flickering, and it solves the slow browser.
####ION on LegacyXperia
It would be the next big step after the 3.x kernel, but, it's a lot of work.
On the i9001, 8 devs work on 1 device, while on our side, 1 dev works on 8 devices.
The i9001 approach was to migrate 10.1 to ION, then 10.2, then 11; instead of directly doing 11-ION.

ION and PMEM should'nt be device specific, no ? Isn't the work done on i9001 reusable here ?
First it could be interesting to locate all patches applied on the kernel to implement the hybrid memory allocation.
Edit :
I suppose the kernel in question is this one :

To many 4.4 roms are coming out....in my opinion all kitkat devs should focus on just 2 roms and this really good kernel.
At least with 2 different 4.4 roms there is still competiton for improvement without scattering work to much.
A nicely developed kitkat will save out Arc from retirement.
Btw i was wondering, since HDMI sources for kitkat are not available, would it be possible to create-compile a MHL compatibility for our arc? so we can use MHL accessory instead of HDMI? Or a virtual machine on kitkat running the stock ICS HDMI feature?
I'm no dev so i have no idea how hard it could be.....just asking out of curiosity, many use hdmi on arc for movies or android desktop with OTG mouse and keyboard. Its really a pity we cannot make it work on 4.4 yet.

A better Kitkat .. lets summerize current kernel situation
1. nAa 3.4 full of hacks
2. using drivers and stuffs from 3.0.x
3. Stuck on Abandoned PMEM {with every increasing android version we are using patches more than before to maintain PMEM causing soo many graphic lags
4. msm_fb code /* lets not focus on it currently */
why this mess /* to bring 3.4 kernel faster */
i m trying on 3.0.x-nAa kernel cause it is Pure CAF and also mike is working on Pure CAF 3.4.x MHL enablin gis such a lot and lot of work we are not in fully stable stage to look at MHL and other workaround first..
our device is a 3 year old piece of hardware without camera and HDMI libs using outdated kernel and drivers what should be the main goal
1. To make kernel updated with current sources
2. then make things working
3. then wprkaround for all abandoned hardware(like HDMI)
hope u know why we are focus on kernels and roms know ... and to come at point of compeion in roms
there is no compeition we are not selling our products .. we are working cause we like it and more roms means more respect for developers who are working tirelessly on maintaining those roms @Marchinho6 please no these kinds of post ..!these will spam thread
For the "S4 Active" ... can I also use the ROMs that are made for the "S4" ? I don't want to get stuck with a handset which is not widely supported, but I like the thought of owning a rugged phone.

The answer depends.
First thing first, it MUST NOT be the AT&T version (i537), which has basically no support. The most supported S4 Active is the LTE-A (powered by a SD800 and with alot more [ported] ROMs, but not here on XDA). But usually when you talk about S4 Active is the GT-I9525 version (jactivelte).
The S4 Active hasn't got a great development, and currently the latest working patchrom works for TW 5.0.x based ROMs. There are some CM13 Unofficial builds, which works great, and recently a dev posted even an almost completely working CM14 (Bluetooth doens't work, WiFi is a bit bugged). BTW, he also posted a patch for CM13 and CM14 both, but they must be implemented in the source code itself, and not in the final ROM, and that mean you cannot flash this patch over any S4 ROM.
I successfully finished my Ubuntu setup today, and I'm currently downloading the compressed repos of CM13 and CM14. In 2 days I should be able to sync them and compile them, this time publishing the source code. In poor words, I would be able to start to compile CM14 builds, and MAYBE finally publishing a working PatchROM for CM13/CM14, but that's not easy, and I have to deal with time because of the school. So, if you could spend something more for an S4, I advice you to buy an S4, but if the price is really well, you can think on it.

I don't have anything to add, I just want to say thanks for taking the time to continue development for the S4 Active. I'm sure there will be many others who appreciate your efforts.
I think if you are able, creating a patch for S4 ROMs would provide the most benefit for the community.

The problem is my Ubuntu setup just fu**d while repo syncing
Will try to fix the problem and continue to download tomorrow
Thanks a lot for your quick answer. I have bought the phone now, it is a "GT-i9295" (jactiveltexx, ARMv7, MSM8960, Adreno 320, 2GB).
I see in your signature: "Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, GT-I9295 : 16/2Gb, SD600, ..." Looks like that is exactly my device?
"6.0.1, Resurrection Remix 5.7.4, TWRP 3.0.2, Rooted"
Which folder on http://www.resurrectionremix.com/ is it?
I still have the original 5.0.1 ROM on it.
Is there anything I should do NOW (e.g. backup the original OS) before I start going through the whole liberation process now?
And then - where do I start?
LuckyNuke1310 - please keep up the good work! Much appreciated!
P.S.: I am happy to donate some Bitcoin when I actually start using one of your solutions.

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU, to you Ivan LuckyNuke1310 - your post helped me a lot.
I have now run a 5.1.1 Android (CM12.1 of August 2016) for quite a while, and it seems to be working well (apart from this new problem).
Actually, I was quite proud when I rooted and CM-flashed my first ever Android phone what a liberation!
So ... Happy New Year to you, and all the best. Keep us updated about your progress, please.

Sorry if I didn't answer you before, but I didn't read the message.
However, the ROM is old now. You can however install any CM13. If you search in the tread you'll find a drive folder with some builds. Download and flash the latest one. Or download mine, I suppose it's a daily driver except for some issues.

Thank YOU for being part of this community
It's so disgusting to see an older Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 device has just got a Marshmallow ROM from their hardworking XDA developers. I hope we will have ours, too.
Wgat do you mean?
I've Resurrection Remix (based on 7.1.2) installed in Grand Prime.
If you want a 6.0 Stock ROM/Firmware for Grand Prime... I think you should ask Samsung itself.
Otherwise, please, be clear with your comments/requests.

I think he is asking developers to port a stock TW 6.0 rom from another device over to ours like how the Grand 2 devs did for their device. Their device was stuck with kit Kat I think and they ported Lollipop and Marshmallow stock rom for their device
I think Kosett is working on a TW MM rom silently. Coz he is not active in xda now a days.
Its already ported
But it had a storage issue (internal storage not working)
And no one could fix it
And yeah I know
That's sucks
But our devs (Has.007.zim555)
Are working hard already
And they are uploading a lot of cool roms (talking about @has007 ???)
So all what we have now is AOSP ROMs ?

I used to be on the S6 Android Development, I have a G530F.
What we need is someone to compile the kernel for us to get it to boot. I have found a variant with the exact same specification as our Device The "J320V":
RAM: 1.5GB
CHIPSET: SNAPDRAGON 410
And all the processor specifications, though it has a couple of sensors in advance.
I think we could port this?(I can port, deodex, and all that but not kernel which implies the WiFi too). @abooooood I think storage issue is also linked with kernel. (Not sure though) But for the Kernel and WiFi part we need a dev whose good with it. I'll try contacting some, meanwhile you try too.
And also my first port being J3110; Its Stable (everything works fine). It's 5.1.1 though.
Regards.

From XDA developers, not from Samsung developers. It's already clear.

I don't know how to approach Carlos Arriaga, the owner of Explosion Kernel. I think he can help us with this. He's the best in modifying kernels for our device.
No, You can port without Huge bug.I changed my device to oppo a37. gp is broken . I have ported it . Camera, wifi,bt,storage, dual sim. All working. Nd Some user requested me from messenger.some bro sent male sex photos. So i waited silently. But Now I will give all as a present .

This question may sound stupid but is it possible to use AOSP MM Kernel along with Explosion Marshmallow to boot it up?
If so ill try it. @KoSett and @abooooood Is it possible? (Ive done that for snapdragon 615 MM)

Yeah i think so
Because Has.007 used AOSP kernel with J5 ROM 5.1.1
So I think it will work
But when has.007 used AOSP kernel with 6.0.1 Samsung ROM
Storage issue happened and he never could fix it
So I am saying he already booted it up with AOSP kernel
But with bugs
You need to port it from device with 8GB internal
So try it
Good luck

I can help.
I have some experiences in fixing generic kernels (with storage), though I haven't tested it, yet. I only work with kernel (and system)-specific issues, though. Not with compiling such ROMs.
I already have problems including new UIs to Prime, and those needs MM as minimum. This would help modders (like us and @KoSett) to have new features into each of our ROMs. And of course, now a "real" Android version change. :silly:
I'm excited. If you need help, just PM me.
