What is this for? A Google search found http://pastebin.com/61BjzWwu, but this still doesn't make the purpose clear. Git blame found me where @topjohnwu added it, but the commit message didn't explain it either.
I want know also, but looks like just a specific hack for Exynos Note 7, like LG's bump.

You're correct
What's the hack fixing, though? And is it still necessary given that the Note 7 is unsafe to use and recalled?

Is there any way to get the 4ExtRecovery as an alternative to CWM on our phone?
I just read some threads and already used the search function, but nothing really useful came out, so I ask this here.
Or is it just possible if the bootloader is unlocked?
Thanks for the answers and sorry for my bad english!
Maybe after LG give us unlocked bootloader.

Okay thanks for your answer first!
So I conclude that we need the unlocked bootloader for it...
But why is CWM working with a locked bootloader then? Is it so much different?
I just saw it on the HTC Sensation of a friend and asked what this is, so he said its 4ExtRecovery and I researched it on myself...
...sent with my LG Optimus 4X HD...
Because that was one guy who was able to do it. We have few devs here, after jb update and unlocking bl this device will be more attractive so maybe u will get the recovery sometime
Okay, thanks! I hope so, too...
I would like to develop on my 4X too and I have still some experiences with java, but I think it won't help me on Android System
...sent with my LG Optimus 4X HD...
In fact it may be usefull somehow. I spent my last days free time reading and downloading basic stuff to work on porting and developing ROMs. So if this is your first attempt like to me in android and you'd like to share exp., just pm me and lets begin with it

Honestly I don't think 4EXT will ever be availible, as it is closed source. So nobody can make an unofficial port (as with CWM or TWRP), and the dev doesn't plan to support our device.

Okay, didn't know that is closed source. Thanks for the information...
I will research it and will write on the dev why he doesn't plan to support our device (didn't read it anywhere, where are these information from?), I mean he even says that
The new 4EXT Recovery generation is necessary to properly support newer devices.

Okay, I think you will have a PM soon :good:
It's just the information I got from the website 4ext.net. The source isn't published anywhere there and also not in any forum here. And on the website he states that besides the newer HTC devices only the N4 would be supported.
If you can encourage him to let you work on a 4X por1 that would be nice. But as said, I doubt there will be one.

As title says, I would like to see at the moment if there is any interest in this amazing ROM to be ported on our devices (N910F)
I think everyone heard / seen the Glamour ROM for N910C/H/U ported by this amazing developer @henrylife
>>>HERE<<< is the link to see his amazing work and also you can see his work all over the internet / YouTube.
I was talking to @henrylife and he would be more than pleased to start working on this ROM and future development for N910F, but he doesn't own this device, so I think would be nice if we could donate a bit and reach the amount he needs to buy the N910F and start working on it.
If there is any interest in this to happen for us, please vote if you would like to donate and if the results are positive, will get in touch with @henrylife to setup a PayPal donation account and put it in this thread.

Do you have a link to those threads ? I'd like to see what they exactly did.
That glamourguy took the S6 framework + apps and put them onto the 910C. It's impossible to do that for an Exynos compiled framework and have that run on Snapdragon.

*EDIT* Hmmm actually ... the framework itself is JAVA, so platform independent. if the JNI part that interfaces with the native binaries works correctly with the 910F binaries, then I guess it might work ... So maybe it's not so impossible after all to port the *framework* In fact, I take back my words, it might be possible to get it going on 910F too

've tried the echoerom during 1 week, the last version obviously. Annnnnnd go back to stock, cuz of the very important over heating permanently. Battery life wasn't so good too.. but it could be worse. Well There were a lot of lags, and bugs ! it's an awesome work but, not for daily use

I have a faulty CPU, which overheats over almost everything and our rom was the only thing, I could flash without rebooting every time. I flashed it in the freezer (Really) and my overheating issues are almost gone now.

Since you joined in april 2014 and only have 23 posts it should be a very good reference point for every user here in XDA
and if you have issues with the rom as such why don't you speak up at the EchoeForum if it's funded we are more then happy to find a solution for you.
For the OP if your friend can create such good roms for the N910F he should continue and let people test the rom for him.
and in the mean time save some money to buy the device himself.
that's just my 2 cents
The thing is. It is easier to speak up where you can make on big pants and the other person cant defend. As said in previous post. There is enough support available you just have to ask. I suggest you better stay on stock then you can complain to Samsung direct.

You speak negative of others work and post a link to there website which I thought was against xda rules is disrespectful. I have the N910T and run the port with an average of 5-6 hrs screen time and 1+ day battery life. All devices react differently you have to take time to set up the device to work best for your use, which obviously wasn't done by the user who reported the rom not a usable as a daily rom. I have been running it since v1 and currently running v3 and can tell you it's my dd.

hey slowly ! he asked a question, i ansewered him that's all, and it's not cuz i'm a 24 post memeber, that my opinion is useless ? right ?
i've tested many other roms and it's the only one wich makes my phone overheating. I've just told what must be told.
And I said respect to all the devs, i know it's a lot of work ! i'm not negative kay !! ?

Guys one question I wanted to flash the s6 edge port but it is based on bod3 so I thought I had to flash the bl bod3 but in the instruction it says I have to flash the non-hlos.bin what is that ? Do I have to flash the bl or non-hlos? I know it's not the right section to ask this but as I know it is the only thread in note 4 right now which talks about this rom

No, it doesn't work like that.
Probably a stupid question, but... Is it possible to change the partition table of Mi 5X into a Mi A1 partition table, in order to achieve A/B partition, and OTA update on Mi 5X?
I know there must be a reason that instead of doing this, the development of using A1 ROM on 5X went with the other route of porting the ROM, but... Is there something I should read to understand the issue better?

The biggest problem is that there is no way to debrick the 5X for now, so every screw up means having to RMA the phone. That means that while it's possible to repartition in some way or another, we still need to find a way.
I want too, plz stay tune for the post of @Aex12 update.
please also, please....
Hi I open this discussion to deepen the theme of cooked ROM.
In particular, I wanted to know why a phone so equipped at the hardware level is not yet supported by developers As regards the software sector.
I really miss the lineage.
How come nothing still moves I can put to charge the phone

It seems harder to find someone to do this lately. However I do remember someone within the last 2 or 3 weeks suggesting anyone who needs edl flashing to PM them. Have a search back over the posts from March (don't think it was longer ago than that) about hard bricks and edl flashing, hopefully you'll come across the xda member who posted they can help.
Alright thanks will try to take a look at this

I was able to edl flash with my account, unbricked one device long time ago, after that i offer free edl flash in forum, so one guy contact me for edl and i find out that my acc is no longer authorized. Don't know is xiaomi removed my authorization or i have only one flash with edl. So maybe reason for finding edl authorized acc is harder bcs xiaomi removing those accounts. Even s-unlock site removed options for edl flash services don't know why.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'd say in the majority of cases Xiaomi is at fault and should therefore fix bricks; not be trying to prevent users from repairing them. Granted the user has taken actions to cause it but Xiaomi has made it notoriously easy to brick their handsets. There's zero region mismatch checks; their software defaults to lock (ergo, brick) - which makes no sense (why is a standard flash-all not default?). You could argue they've really set a lot of users up to brick their phones in this way. There's plenty of warnings when you unlock the bootloader and "are you sure?" but zero warnings for re-locking the bootloader; no checks, no warning messages; just a hasty lock. They've made sure EDL is locked down amid security concerns but it was created for this very purpose by Qualcomm so that phones would never become "brickable" - meanwhile Xiaomi has provided no alternative.
I think they know exactly what they're doing and it's kinda sickening.
