Roms? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Are some of the developers sitting/waiting on nougat to roll out before making any stockish, performance enhanced Roms with some themeing involved rather then every single ROM be based off of CyanogenMod? I'd jump on to cm but need wifi calling to work and would also like to keep the full potential of the camera.. just curious..

[Petition] CM 10/10.1 for Tilapia/Nakasig Nexus 7 3G

Hi everyone, this thread is a petition to make developers know our interest in having a working CM10/10.1 and custom kernels to our wonderful Nexus 7 3G tilapia/nakasig
At this time, we have only a few ROM modifications based on AOSP or on official Google ROM, no fully optimized CM-based ROM.
I've read somewhere that someone had created a CM10/10.1 ROM from scratch for tilapia, surely not well optimized, but a CM ROM however, with all the CM goodies that AOSP doesn't have.
Tilapia is ony a modified version of grouper, the WIFI-only Nexus 7, and it would be great if someone know how to port this build to tilapia without loosing the 3G feature, which is really useful for me.
So, if you are interested too in a tilapia/nakasig CM10/10.1 ROM for Nexus 7 3G, comment this thread!
Hoping this will increase the great developers efforts to this (apparently forgotten) device. :fingers-crossed:
...and sorry for my bad english..
I daresay, it is not forgotten - they are working on making 10.1 as a whole. Once they get it available I am sure that one of the enterprising developers who has the 3g model will make it happen. I don't really think a petition is necessary. Don't poke the bear.
Another option - you could try to work on it yourself.
grouper custom kernels should work on tilapia. i know that the trinity kernel works on all variants of the nexus 7, it has been confirmed.
I subscribe petition
This device just came out... Dont expect it to happen unless you know a dev that has interest in building it for us... This device came out on the heels of a wifi version that a ton of people bought and its going to either take a while or some donations to get a cm build.

Community development strength

You're a power user. Can the LG Nexus 5X keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the LG Nexus 5X. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Not that many ROMS or custom features yet. Nobody has bothered to see if the chipset can support USB 3 and can be hacked or fixed the low quality (at high volumes) speaker. Loving the mainstream CM and PureNexus ROMS though

Although I don't have a Nexus 5x I have seen that the community has grown somewhat. Kernels such as elemental x are available. The fact that cm13 nightlies are available show me that custome roms are beginning to grow. One cool feature (don't remember the site) was that someone made it possible so that the nexus 5x issues sound from the top speaker as well as the bottom speaker. These hints show towards a promising future which will only expand due to it being a popular nexus phone.
The community is smaller than other phones but its solid. We have beans. Enough said lol. Cataclysm is amazing, cm13 is dope, and a few kernels. Some new dev just showed up today with that xtreme rom
Like all communities, it takes a few months to kick into high gear. I felt the same way with my M9, which I got last spring, by mid summer, there were plenty of ROMs and a few different kernels to choose from. I figured development for this phone would have advanced at a quicker pace, but the community itself doesn't seem as big as I thought it would be yet. Just give it time. The ROMs and Kernels we have available now are kickass as it is. I'm waiting for a super optimized ROM like BoostPop was on the old N5.
nexus 5x community seems more mature than nexus 5 in my opinion. Popular roms / kernels are available. That's what the end user cares about( as primary phone).

I have almost every phone available and I love the nexus 5x. It's a snappy awesome light device! Highly recommend!
OK
Thanks
What I like about the community is that despite the Nexus having a smaller user base, it's still positive and willing to help those who are not as experienced with custom roms yet.
Thanks to the help of a few very helpful users in the PureNexus thread, I was able to learn about and successfully run a custom rom, custom kernel, systemless root, and still have adaway and android pay working.
Also worth noting, systemless root has been great for allowing apps with SafetyNet (like AP) to work, and it's great to see custom rom devs include details regarding how to implement it.

Franco kernel is on here. check the Original Android Development section
support is steadily growing. Good ROMs. Cataclysm, Pure Nexus, Omni, CM, Dirty Unicorns (in development) all available. ElementalX, Franco and Phasma kernels all working well.
I would love to see AOSiP on Nexus 5X
It´s an awesome phone, well made and really good looking. Some drawbacks are battery (could be a better one for the price), the side buttons that have a horrible click and loocks really cheap and a pitty it hasn´t got . But in general it´s a nice phone good hand feeling and a great screen.
not as great as the benchmark the nexus 5 had set but much much better than the other 2015 phones!

New to Nexus 6

Hi, I just got a Nexus 6. I want to move to an aosp based rom as soon as possible. I am on t-mobile and wifi calling is a must. My question is does P.A.C. rom support wifi calling and volte like cm 13 does?
If you can't find your answer in the Opening post features list, or by searching the thread on WiFi calling and volte, I suggest taking a nandroid backup and flashing it to find out. :good:

I am not using wifi calling because it is not available here in the Netherlands. .
T-MOBILE want's to earn money with the services they offer. It seems logical to me that this wifi service only works with T-Mobile branded devices.
When you flash an other rom you need to read about the new rom. In the description there must be stated that wifi calling is supported.

You are correct for all devices but the nexus 6. the stock international nexus 6 rom works with their wifi calling and cm 13 does too.

They actually released Lollipop builds but have been largely inactive since then. There are some releases (I believe unofficially) that are floating around on androidfilehost and some other places... But they are in their infancy of Marshmallow. It's based on CM13 with (last time I checked a few weeks ago) not too many features added on top and probably largely considered to be experimental or in the alpha stage of development.
For sure Pure Nexus Project and Dirty Unicorns support wifi calling and I think Chroma and AOSiP do too. Any ROM based on AOSP should really support it but ROMs based on CM13 may or may not. I've seen conflicting information. From a reddit thread, a user said WiFi calling works on CM13 for the Nexus 5X but not his Nexus 5. Nexus 6 I am unsure, but make a nandroid backup of your current setup and go wild on testing different ROMs :good: I can't tell you because I don't have Tmobile anymore (although I did for a short period with my N6)

Ah, you mean the pacman rom...I used it alot on lollipop, but yeah, not to be seen anywhere since most of us switched to MM..
BTW, almost all the current roms in the N6 dev section have wifi calling now, both the AOSP based ones, and the CM13 based ones...

Oh, thanks for the info. I wasn't aware CM13 had native wifi calling support. I'm glad it's baked into Google AOSP now for Nexus devices. I remember using a Galaxy Note 3 and so bad I wanted to put an AOSP/CM based ROM on it when I had Tmobile but the support for Wifi calling was only available on stock bloatwiz/lagwiz/whatever you want to call the garbage stock firmware. And where I live had zero Tmobile signal. Had to get by with root and wanam xposed. But now I'm back to the glorious nexus master race (and another carrier, so I don't need wifi calling).
Thanks. My last device did not support PAC rom. I was not aware that they are not really active any longer and there is no marshmellow version.
Thanks for all the info.

What is P.A.C rom?
I got the impression that it is a custom ROM and not the international stock rom.
Its this rom..

[Q]-anyone is going to port the MiUi rom since the new MM branch is released?

Hi Developers,
First of all, thanks for all your hard working to provide so many high valuable Roms to Nexus 6.
Now that Miui has released the new MM branch for patchrom project, I'm wondering if anyone is going to port this to Nexus 6 so that we can have more choices to make our life colorful?
Thanks in advance!
I am in
I hope not. Nougat is on the horizon so why work on porting Marshmallow ROMs over when we already have plenty of stable choices available? Also this is just an opinion, but I think the majority of Nexus users specifically will agree with me: AOSP/CM based ROMs are superior to MIUI.
Its in the works. We have a couple threads about this already and even a half ported miui 7 build that flashes but doesn't boot.

There maybe someone that does it but like with most nexus devices don't expect much. Miui is openly hated by the nexus developers.
Your best bet is if you want it then follow the guide and try to make it happen. I'll wish you luck as you will need it.

ROMs With Built-in OTA Update Feature

Does anyone know which 3rd party ROMs for Nexus 6 has built-in OTA update feature?
I remembered awhile ago CM had it, but it's no more.
CarbonROM. Not sure if implemented yet but they are planning on it.

Latest (7.1.1) AICP does for sure
LineageOS does (the new CM), aicp, octOS... LineageOS and octOS you schedule it to look for updates every so often... Aicp I think you manually have to check for updates but I could be wrong.
OctOS is switching to a LineageOS base from AOSP as of February 10th so if you want LineageOS with more features may want to wait to check that out.
So Lineage is probably the best choice for a hassle free, OTA capable ROM?
Is their stock kernel solid and how about the camera shutter speed?
I really want to switch to custom ROM because my N6 has become really sluggish and when I'm already wiping the thing I'd better switch to something that will get steady updates.

Ive been bouncing back and forth between OctOS and straight LineageOS for the most part and both have been rock solid for me. Camera speed and performance have been better than stock in my opinion as well.
To be honest all of the Roms I have tried have been great but personally for me the two mentioned above win out over the rest
There's also CarbonRom. It has a built in updater
