Unable to convert to Dev Edition - T-Mobile HTC One (M9)

NEED HELP!
Get these errors while flashing from pc and from sd.
Flashed this RUU.
Prior to flashing I also flashed the no wipe firmware. 0PJAIMG_HIMA_UL_N70_SENSE80_ATT_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_4 .14.617.6.
Before flashing I had 3.35.401.32 and same after flashing
I had a OPJA120 (T-Mobile) and after flashing the RUU it had become himaulatt. I had changed to the cid and mid to dev cid and mid.
Long story short, I tried to flash dev RUU but failed sometimes due to error above and sometimes due to another error 21 ru unzip failed and sometimes failed on flashing system image 2. All I want is to convert the device into dev edition to get nougat update. Right now I have reflashed twrp and restored stock backup. Cant flash any other rom and sim doesnt work too. Any help would be appreciated. Any link to the required tested RUU would be great too.

Can't Flash most ROM's

OK so,
The phone is rooted. It has relatively new firmware/radios and it has su installed with TWRP
Its a HTC One, Colour = Black, 32GB
UK Vodafone.
Was one of the first black ones that Vodafone rolled out as I had it on pre-order.
Now I've NEVER had a problem flashing CM, however I'm one of those people that loves flashing various ROMS and trying this and that.
I've got a pining for MIUI
If I get the file from here - http://en.miui.com/download-111.html
Or the one that used to be on the forums I get the same error message
*******************
Installing - (path here)
Checking for MD5
Skipping MD5
assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") ==
E:Error executing updater binary in zip
Failed
*******************
Its infuriating because I really want to try other ROMs and I spent time downloading them, moving them onto my phone only to find that they don't work.
I thought I had the M7UL but I'm not even sure anymore. I download the m7ul file from Cyanogenmod and it works fine
Can anyone help me?

sometimes some recoveries doesn't work with some roms. Have you tried using clockwork mod or flashing the latest TWRP? Also if you phone is SOFF you can change your CID to all #1s. Once you do that you should be able to install any rom as long you follow the OP instructions.

Hi Vang.
Thanks for the update.
A while back I had issues with S-On / S - OFF.
I basically reverted the phone to stock, S-Off'd, changed the CIDS to all 1's and updated to the latest TWRP
That MIUI still wont work for me
Your best bet is to ask in the MIUI forums as they are not really supported here.
The error is saying that the rom file is not for your device. Also as it is a 4.2 rom it may not work well with the updates to the firmware in 4.4. To be honest I am not sure as I avoid MIUI like the plague.

[Q] Problem installing update

Hi today i got the 4.4.2 update and i tried to install it and it failed
My current situation is:
Tempered
Relocked
S-ON
Completely stock (I was rooted, xposed, sense 5 toolkit, htc hand font) by flashing firmware.zip and relocking the bootloader and i created (data/preload/apps) and put every app that comes with the same directory in the OTA and flashing htc stock font back and i've done a factory rest to make sure everything is stock :good:
every time i try to install the update i got ("/system/bin/app_process' has unexpected contents Installation aborted)
by the way my CID is HTC_044 and i'm on 707 region
Anybody have any idea to help please don't hesitate to share it

Looks like you're not stock after all.
You say you were using Xposed. Xposed replaces /system/bin/app_process with a patched version. By flashing firmware.zip you did not revert your system to stock, only your firmware, that is recovery, kernel, radio, hboot and other firmware partitions, but *not* /system. Which means you still have the Xposed version of app_process on your phone, as well as any other additional mods you installed.
To get to stock, you'll need to restore a backup of the stock system without any mods installed. Neither relocking the bootloader nor S-ON/S-OFF have any effect, you can apply official OTAs with both S-OFF and unlocked bootloader just fine. You don't need factory reset either, the contents of /data don't matter to the OTA at all. What you do need is a stock /system and stock recovery. Of those two requirements, you only fulfilled the second.
If you do not have a clean backup of the stock system, you can either hope that someone else has one and is willing to share it, or you can change your CID to either HTC_622 or a super CID and use the stock ROM I posted over here
All done

ok you need some apps missing during unlock boot loader process
Which was at data /preload so you have to restore them like sound hound & others
How get these apk
find another HTC One with same software version install es file explorer on that
Open es explorer go to apps manager backup all apps which are HTC made like calculator flash light htc ringtonetrimmer htc sound recorder sound hound use your logic these apps are long name & version then any other apps
copy these apps to your phone data/preload use root explorer now try ota again ( if any error still there note that error & try solving same way)
Or easy & long way S Off your phone
Then just install THIS & try ota for next version & again next version until you get your desired version
from HTC One
Does this require the phone to be rooted? Just so you know, my phone is not rooted.

Facing a similar problem but with system/app/plusone.apk, the sense 5.5 OTA had come in without any issues, only this OTA is getting stuck. I am S-ON, bootloader locked with stock recovery. To use the Guru reset tool, is it necessary to be S-OFF? My s/w version is 4.19.1540.9, there is a 4.3 RUU available on Htc dev site? Can i download it and run the .exe on a computer with my phone being BL locked, stock recovery or we can not downgrade to 4.3 from 4.4.2? I was planning to run the 4.3 .exe ruu and then OTA twice to get sense 6.

you can't downgrade with S-ON using a ruu. This is not required to to be s-off to use guru reset rom but s-off is required for the guru bootloader reset tool. There is also a nandroid backup of 5.11.1540.9 and the signed firmware in the dev edition updates thread, where you have already posted about the same issue. look at page 94

Thanks a lot alray, i did see the tutorial and to use the Guru reset tool, i need to unlock my bootloader, flash TWRP, then flash Guru reset tool and read on screen instructions to flash a stock recovery and firmware. After that, i need to relock the bootloader and check for OTA updates. The guru reset available is 3.22.1540.1 and as you say it does not require S-OFF.
What would be a safer way? To use guru reset tool and then do OTA updates till the latest firmware or install the 5.11.1540.9 firmware, i have absolutely no clue on how to flash stock firmwares, if it is done through custom recoveries or stock recovery.
Thanks

don't lock bootloader until your work finished you don't need it unlocked bootloader will help you if you got some difficulty / error
Guru rest Rom not required s off but if ota over that version should be same with your current version if not ota will fail for example your current version is 5 you use guru reset rom with version 3 then you will update it with ota version 4 it will fail because S On will not let you flash firmware 4 over 5 so keep that in mind use guru reset with same version of your current version

Darn it, which means i cant use Guru reset as my current version is 4.19.1540.9 and there is no reset tool available for it. Dont want to play around with S-OFF etc as am planning to sell the phone and worried if something might go wrong during the process.
The last option available is to then use a 4.19.1540.9 but one user had said some where that4.xx RUU's are not working.
I tried but could not find a 4.19.1540.9 nandroid backup as well, will try the RUU and if it does not work then maybe wait for htc dev to release 4.4.2 RUU from their end.
Is there any way to do this without rooting?

Why would you want to find a 4.19.1540.9 nandroid backup when I said at post #11 that there is a nandroid backup of 5.11.1540.9 and the 5.11.1540.9 signed firmware in the dev edition updates thread at page 94 (posted by me, users reported both nandroid and firmware working good)
@yatindroid : sorry for hijacking this thread.
Sorry but i have no clue at all on how to use that nandroid backup to update the phone. Do i need to unlock bootloader again, flash twrp and then restore that backup?
What to do with the firmware file?
Thanks

unlock bootloader
flash twrp 2.6.3.3
boot phone in recovery
make a backup of ''Boot'' only (this is only to generate a backup path on your phone)
when completed, reboot phone in the OS, connected on your computer
browse your internal storage, go to TWRP/Backups/Your_Phone_serial/Some_date/
delete files in this folder (these are the file backed up previously to generate the backup path above)
extract the 5.11.1540.9 backup archive and copy all the files in the backup folder (previously generated) of your phone (TWRP/Backups/Your_Phone_serial/Some_date/) should have around 11 files (some .win .md5 files and a .log)
go back in twrp, select ''restore'' , select ''some_date'' folder, select all the partitions and swipe to restore
after the restore is completed, in twrp go to ''wipe'' then ''swipe to factory reset'' do not ''format data'' or ''advanced wipe''
reboot phone in the OS
if you want to update the firmware after restoring the backup:
relock bootloader
reboot bootloader
flash the firmware
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot oem flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot oem flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
flashing firmware can be dangerous so be sure you understand what you are doing first, there is a lot of threads here explaining how to flash firmware.

Why not just seeling the phone ''as is'' ?
if you have any other question please pm me, open another thread or post in the dev update thread so it will be easier for @yatindroid and @viv_1980 to continue troubleshooting viv_1980's issue.
there is also another thread that discuss the exact same issue you are having ''unexpected content'' of /system/app/plusone.apk on 4.19.1540.9: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53381299
Maybe you could try what I said in that thread before messing with backups and firmware.
Problem solved
Thanks a ton to @alray, @yatindroid and @SaHiLzZ, i finally downloaded the 4.19.1540.9 RUU from Android ruu, connected to windows 7, used the .exe file and it smoothly flashed the stock firmware. After it, updated OTA to sense 6 and this time the update went smoothly and my M7 is now updated to sense 6. It is completely stock now, will easily get OTA updates in future and i wanted to set things right before selling it off so that the future owner does not face issues with the phone, not every one is a member of Xda .
Thanks guys

[Q] Stuck at Boot after OTA update

I have an unlocked and rooted HTC One M7, which I just updated to the latest version of android via an OTA update.
I used the process I always use for this, by reverting back to the stock recovery, then doing the update.
Even though the update completed, the initial boot after the update won't complete anymore. I am stuck at the HTC One Boot-logo.
I know that it usually takes longer to boot after an update, for the first time. However I have waited 60+ minutes now and it still did not move on.
Some more detailed information:
- Unlocked bootloader
- S-OFF
- H-Boot: 1.61.0000
- Radio: 4T.35.3218.16
- Version-Main before update: 7.18.161.2 (This is also the stock recovery I pulled and flashed before doing the OTA)
- Version-Main after update: 7.18.161.21
- CID: VODAP110
- Variant m7_ul unlocked / international
What I have tried:
1st As mentioned above, re-flashing stock recovery, update -> No boot
2nd Recovery from an older nandroid backup, made on the previous version, so 7.18.161.2. After recovering, my device worked fine again, like before the update. HOWEVER: The system version (inside the OS, aswell as adb and bootloader) still showed 7.18.161.21, which should be the version AFTER the update. It still tells me that I need to update my phone though.
3rd Since then I have tried to re-flash the stock recovery, this time the one for 7.18.161.21, since it showed me I was on this version. Again, the update completed without any hickup, but it is now stuck at boot again.

You are confusing software and firmware version. When installing an ota update, both the software and firmware are updated. Nandroid backups doenst include the firmware, flashing one will only restore the software. So you are restoring a .2 software on a . 21 firmware.
Anyway you have soff just flash the latest ruu available for your phone and then update it

I have tried finding the correct RUU, but I am getting a little confused with the available ones. When selecting the RUU, is only the variant of the phone important (so unlocked in my case) or do I have to match everything, as in CID, Carrier etc.? Because I cannot seem to find one that has matching information, except for the variant.

Wow, sorry I somehow didn't manage to find that
Thaks a lot!
Btw, since you said the firmware is not included in a Nandroid backup, if I create one now, do the whole procedure and if something fails, re-flash the nandroid, should everything still be working fine just as it is now? I'm guessing yes, right?
Also: If I now flash the ruu, deleting all data etc in the process, and then update, I won't have any option of re-aquiring all my data/settings either, right?
So in the end effect, this update will basically "flush" my phone
Same problem
Hi
I experienced the same problem while updating from 7.18.161.2 to 7.18.161.21. My bootloader was unlocked l, S-on and flashed stock recovery before I did the OTA. This procedure was working fine since a long time. Unfortunately this time I got stuck at the HTC boot logo, same as OP.
After flashing the RUU, locking the bootloader (this I guess was the important step) and do the OTA again, it finally worked. Too bad I lost all my precious data. Yeye backup I know
Im really aware of unlocking my bootloader again and have the same problem the next time they might release an update.
Now my question is, did HTC or my Carrier (Swisscom) changed anything in the update procedure?

They will probably not have anymore updates but to install one you need:
stock recovery of the same firmware version or from the ota update version
stock /system partition (any missing/modified/corrupted files on this partition will makes the ota install fail)
stock /data/preload (any missing/modified/corrupted files on this partition will makes the ota install fail, unlocking the bootloader wipes everything in this folder)

wierd bootloader. no wifi. wifi switch greyed out after turning it on.

hi every one
recently i'm gifted with m8 whl with s-off along kk os and super cid. i unlocked the bootloader. by mistake i tried updating developer version ruu instead of sprint lp ruu and it ended up with error 155 during flash. after failed flash, in bootloader os is highlighted in red color as OS-3.30.651.2 (4.16.1540.8). i tried flashing sprint stock ruu but it too ends in error 155. no luck in flashing firmeware.zip via fastboot mode. i hvnt took back up of the rom so i flashed custom rom through twrp. now everything is working fine except wifi. need help in fixing this or flashing stock rom. your help will be appreciated
thanks

solved.
solved the issue by flashing 4.25.651.18 Full Firmware from RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173. it changed os in bootloader. then i flashed the same stock sprint marshmellow ruu. now every thing working fine. no issues with wifi.
thanks
