This is a very simple issue that I'm having that I can't seem to find a solution for (i.e. can't find an option in any menu anywhere) Hoping someone can help.
I have CM7 installed on my Captivate, and I'm not sure if this is a CM7 feature or Gingerbread, but Id like my phone to wake up (I don't care if it stays locked) when I receive a text message (I think there may have been other instances when the screen didn't come on when I expected it to, but SMS is the big one). It currently does whatever I have it set to do in terms of vibrating/ringing but I'd like it to bring the screen on as well.
Anybody know how/if I can enable this?

Hello xda,
After a few weeks with my rooted nook touch, I have come to realize how annoying the DRAG TO UNLOCK screen is. Is there any way to skip this and go straight from screensaver to homescreen/book/whatever-you-were-doing? Already scoured the google and this forum and can't find anything.
Thanks in advanced!
yeah, that would be nice if the lockscreen/screensaver could be completely disabled!
I use No Lock by BoD http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock It has a widget for toggling the lockscreen too. I use it on all my android devices that don't have a rom with it built in. I wasn't sure if it would work with the nook touch but it works like a charm. I'd be nice to have a custom rom for the touch that has it built in. Maybe if cm7 gets running on it.

Thank you!
The problem of this utility is that it's always running as service and take some resources.
If I kill it from services keylock starting to work.
Think must be another ways - smth like disable lock in sys settings via adb.
If you're rooted with nook manager just use the nook touch mod manager and under the configure mod option you can disable the drag to unlock and also have a customized banner with your name and number below.

I know this is an old thread, and the Nook Touch Mod Manager fix DOES work if you have it installed, but as someone who just recently re-enabled the two part unlock, let me just mention that it is actually a useful feature. I don't know how many times I have pulled my Nook out to a random page, or random menu selection because the button got bumped whole it was in my pocket. Luckily, no random changes happened that were irreversible. It would really have sucked if I had managed to out it in black text on a black background, for example, and knowing my luck, it's amazing that I didn't.
So that's my two cents' worth. You can disable it, but it is actually quite useful, and speaking from experience, I recommend against doing it.
Has anyone tried subj with sideloaded app keeping screen on all the time. (Like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbondarchuk.android.keepscn ) ?
Would be interesting also to compare mostly black and mostly white watchfaces.
This is something that I really would like so I will try to get this to work on my Gear. I'll report back in a few days.
Thank you for sharing.

I have tried three different versions of these types of apps and none of them worked.
They either wouldn't install at all, or if they did they would immediately close saying "XYZ app has closed unfortunately.
If anybody gets one working correctly, please post the results

Did you make sure to move them over to /system/app?
Its a wishful thinking but Id love to see a MotoX style face for the watch. (Dynamic Notifications App mimics this).
The clockface would always be on and the notifications would only light up those portions of the screen and youd just touch and see what you have waiting.
Hi guys, I really hope I can get some help here, can't find anything about the problems I am encountering.
I am using this phone for about 4 weeks now, and it's working fine, except for some problems with widgets. I have problems with 3 apps/widgets now; they all worked fine on my old phone, a HTC Sensation XE (rooted, with different ROM's and Android versions). They all have strange behaviour. At first I thought I had some settings set wrong in the apps themselves, but I tried everything I could think of and now I have to conclude that the problems start with the phone itself.
I am encountering problems with the following apps:
aCalendar+: widget, but also opened app get in some kind of update loop; sync icon starts spinning, stops and immediately starts again, and on and on. It does sync properly though in the meantime.
Plume: Most of the time the widget does not respond to manually syncing. Only after I open the app and sync manually (which works fine), and go back to the widget, I can finally sync using the widget.
Transparent clock & weather: Most of the time, the clock does not keep track of the time, it just hangs. Only when I tap the widget, or refresh the weather, it syncs with the internal clock, like it should. Sometimes though, the clock does keep track for a short time, but in the end it will hang again.
I tried out a lot of different things with the P7 energy- and network apps settings. Also I upgraded to firmware version 126, but it all doesn't make any difference. It's all really annoying, especially because I never had those issues on my old phone.
Anybody got a clue?

Can you provide the play store links of this apps?
I would try and test it.
This apps are enabled in protected apps?

I have test this app.
I think you mean this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droid27.transparentclockweather
I was able to reproduce your problem and solve it.
Please set this app as "protected app". You didn't have set it, so the app would be closed then the screen get off.
You can set this: Settings -> Protected Apps -> Check the checkbox of this app.
Then your widget is working.
Then an app don't set up as protected, the app would be closed on screen off.

Thanks for your help, I already tried that out before. It do not think it made a difference though. Anyway, the time freezing issue also happened when using the phone for some time, I mean without screen off time, so it should not make any difference. But in the meantime I updated the app, and that seems to work.
The links for the other apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.withouthat.acalendarplus&hl=nl
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelup.touiteur&hl=nl
I contacted the developer of Acalendar+, and as far as I understood there should be an update coming in the near future that should resolve the problem. I installed another calendar app in the meantime, which just works flawlessly, so maybe I just stick to that one...
I hope Plume gets a working update too, so I can enjoy me phone without being annoyed
Thanks again for your effort!

Oops, I just found out you were right about the protected apps thing. I have not had the issue with the screen active since the last update, but indeed, after screen-off time, the issue is back again. So I guess I should indeed use the protected apps setting.
I don't understand why this is necessary though. I mean, the internal system clock just carries on ticking in standby mode, so why wouldn't the app just sync with that automatically when I activate the screen? Or would it be so that the app has always been active in standby mode on my old phone, and is it only because I now have this protected apps mode on this new phone that I am getting aware of this? If you understand what I mean, this is quite hard for me in English...

I've experienced similar issues. Like you I use aCalendar+ which is very good. However I don't use any of the widgets that come with this app. I prefer Smooth Calendar instead. So far, no problems at all. And as for the clocks, it seems a bit hit and miss. I was using DIGI Clock Plus but had no end of trouble with it. It just won't update on wake up. Protected or otherwise. I've given up on it. The clock widgets from HD Widgets work just fine. There's an amazing array to choose from. Maybe it's an Android issue, maybe Huawei. Who knows? I think the best solution is to find apps and widgets that work and discard those that don't.
im trying to to find a fix to these couple of simple but annoying issues. first one is if im using a few apps, it will block out my notification bar as you can see in the two screenshots i posted. where would i go to change the color or setting where this own t happen
and second is when im using the google messages app, the search function wont work for me to find a person to text. i have to manually find them in contacts in order to text them. i know its a third party app but it worked fine in lineageos so im not sure why its broken on stock
