Is there a best? - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, after going through countless options for new phone now thinking about a s5 mini. Is there a best version to get? Something with best processor and unlocked bootloader? I'd like to load CM on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will have most development on the exynos (European) variant called: SM-G800F.
CM14.1 (Android 7) is only available for this one.

Would the 800h also have the same level of dev support? I see more h versions available for sale than the f version.

[Q] Official 5.1.1

Hello!
I currently saw two variants of official 5.1.1 (1 for T-Mobile and 1 for Sprint/USC).
I'm wondering if I can install this to my Nexus 6. I'm using the international variant.
Thanks
And why the rush? What do you think you are going to gain from 5.1.1?
also waiting for 5.1.1 they fixed a battery a bit there so device will work a bit longer)

Use the Sprint build.
I'm resetting up my unit from scratch every update so I was thinking that after I setup my Nexus 6 on 5.1.0 for hours the 5.1.1 will come out. So it'll be a waste of time.

Is that the official build for the international variant or just a workaround? Thanks

Only difference for you then is one is newer than the other. So use the newest (48i).
Further info: ALL Nexus 6 can use the same ROMs. The only difference is that some US carriers have specific ROMs to add functions or just so they can approve the builds themselves. So you just need to avoid the Builds that are specifically for T-Mobile or Verizon IF you want OTA to work in the future. Otherwise, you could use any.

nexus 6 versions?

Hi, I was hoping to update to 6.0 but there are three versions of 6.0 to choose from. Can someone describe their differences? I bought the phone unlocked and i am using it on Verizon. I would like to keep it unlocked for all carriers and for use globally though, if that makes a difference in version number.

why do you want to install an older version(that's not international)? the latest version is MMB29S, and all nexus run it, its not just international. again, all nexus are running the same build. the difference between american and international versions are only the radio bands being used by the phone itself.

Android 7.0 ROM For Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (T-715)

Hi
I have recently purchased Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (T-715) and rooted it. Few days back android 7.0 has released and I want to upgrade my tablet to android 7.0. It is not possible to upgrade from "About Device" menu as it gives error:
The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software update using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.

Last year same thing happened with my Nexus 7 and then I downloaded the rom and manually upgraded it. Now I want to do the same thing for my Samsung tablet but I am unable to find the rom.
Kindly guide me that from where I can download android 7.0 rom for my tablet?
Regards
Lol, you will probably never see android 7 on your device...
It's only available for nexus and the Pixel c for the moment.
And samsung will release it just for a few models.
Galaxy tab s2 may not be one of these

Its a bad news
Is there any general version of which can be downloaded and installed? like in linux kernels we have a "vanila" version which is originally released without any patches etc.
That's not true. As SamMobile published some times ago, our sm t-715 it's likely to be updated to the latest android version 7.0. Same as the other variants. There are no official informations though, but we will see in the future what happens. Personally by one side i think that our tab has the right specs to be updated, on the other side i'm afraid about two things:
1) Samsung could be lazy and forget a relatively new and high spec device to be updated
2) Developement community isn't very populated and every version of Android Nougat that will be out unofficially (if one there will ever be) will broken fingerprint support and Mobile network on LTE variants.
P.s i'm very sorry, i wish to link you to the article i saw on internet but i cannot fin it, very sorry.

Realistically, I think we will all be waiting somewhere between 6 months to 1 year, IF this tablet gets Android 7 at all.
If not, its a case of waiting for a custom rom.
If you wanted instant updates, you should have bought the Pixel C, (as the Nexus 9 is rubbish.)
tab s1 has just got android 6 so maybe there is hope for s2 and 7
I have two questions:
1. Are custom roms safe?
2. If you find any custom rom, will you post link here?
Thanks

No, never use a custom rom. All veterans here on XDA know only the North Koreans publish custom roms in hopes of tricking a newbie to download it so they can hack your computer.
If you have a friend that is using a custom rom on their phone please block there phone number if it is not too late, as a phone call from them will affect your phone as well.
