In the changelog of openbeta 10 improvements in wifi performace were mentioned, can someone vouch for that? please mention wifi band (2.4GHz or 5GHz), distance from router (and number of antennas), and mention speed(speedtest), consistency, stability of connection if possible.
Thanks

Hello guys ,
I've been using my P10 for nearly 4 months , and I noticed a serious issue here , that the wifi speed on my other devices is way faster than the P10
Bare in mind that the router is almost 5 meters away from me , and I've received an update B180 , after installing it , the wifi speed was perfect .. but now it's not
Does any one encountered this issue ? , If so ! .. how did u solve it ?
mine is perfect... no issues at all
Depends on what wifi you are using. 5Ghz connections are not the best on huaweidevices. Try using the old 2,4Ghz.
2,4 Ghz has better range cause of the frequency and 5Ghz more bandwidth butter lesser range.
You can also use install a newer firmware using firmwarefinder on playstore, just make sure it matches your version and is approved.
My Nokia 7 Plus connects to my Netgear D7000 router on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
When the phone is near to the router it will max the connection speed out using speedtest at about 75mbps (max internet speed for me) however as the distance from the router increases the speeds drop off dramatically to either 1 or 2 mbps or they drop completely and it keeps trying to jump between networks presumably because the signal is low.
The drop in speeds seems to affect the download speed more than the upload speed.
I have an old Galaxy S5 and in the same positions it holds the connection easily and will still max the connection. I can go much, much further from the router before the connection drops.
If I use wifi analyser then I see that on the S5 the signal looks to be about 10db better, it simply looks like a case of the S5 having better reception.
How do others find the performance compared to other phones, is the wifi poor or do I have a duff one?
I'm currently using Oreo 8.1 with the July security update., has anyone noticed wifi being better using Android P?
Android p is far better

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm just reading through the thread on Android P at the moment and will probably give it a try providing I can make sure I can roll back to Oreo easily so the device can be returned if it is actually faulty.
I regularly share my internet over wifi on the Mi 8 and it's terrible, the connections keep dropping, and the speed is generally slow. I had a worse phone before that had a super fast stable connection with a custom rom. Do you have any experience with this? Any idea on how can I improve the stability and overall quality of the wifi? If I connect via USB and share the connection that way it's stable and fast enough, so it's not a network issue.
I only get 25 mbps on either 2.4 or 5 GHz. On my laptop or Galaxy S10 I get my full 150 mbps. I've done a hard rest ( always do after a major update) without improvement.
I've toggled WiFi scanning and automatic turn on..... still slow.
Might a downgrade to Oreo remedy this? Is that even possible.....or would the global firmware work better?
On any router 5ghz. Seems so unstable. On 2.4ghz it works fine. On other phones and laptops no problem

mine works fine ...if you are using android 10 ( Q) ...roll back wifi driver with custom kernel ..
new driver ..5ghz = 15Mbps max
old driver ..5ghz=450Mbps max
use wifi bonding module and cloudflare dns modules in magisk
*wifi bonding took my 2.4ghz speed on old pie driver from 40 Mbps max to 80 Mbps
**on new driver max speed between 10-20Mbps
the other problem is some errors and disconnects on the new driver in android 10 ...so much for "updating" your OS to "downgrade" your experience and device performance

well unless you want wifi that can't go faster than 20Mbps don't root your A2
on the other hand if you want 450Mbps speed back without getting disconnected ....
to me this is a no brainer . ...maybe you need a moment to figure it out.

Well the a2 is not modded because it is not mine. I only sold it to him. Would it be better to downgrade to android pie?

if it can't be rooted then it's best to downgrade to the last or most up to date pie official stock rom using miflash ...
