Jun-3 2017 got OTA update a few weeks ago. T813 doesn't have problem connecting to 5Ghz wifi but on 5Ghz the connection is slow. Appears to be capped at about 10MB. Whenever I run speedtest while connected to my 5Ghz network I get 10MB uploads. Disconnect from 5Ghz, rerun speedtest and I get 80MB uploads. Go back to 5Ghz rerun speedtest, back to 10MB. Can reproduce this every time.
I guess I am stuck not using 5Ghz.

Found this in a different thread. Changed to channel 40 and speedtest shows upload speeds of 80MB. Netgear recommends using channels above 149 but I will stick to 40. Anyone know why using the lower band 5Ghz channels gives higher speeds than the higher band channels?
do you happen to be using a euro model in north america? what is your CSC and which country are you using the device?
On router (if possible) change channel width to 20 any frequency should fix wifi. Atleast for me this worked
Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
After changing the routers channel bandwith, this thing goes from 10 mbps to 80mbps. They need to fix this. All my other devices max out at 235mbps on 5ghz. This tab is too advanced to be doing this.
Had the exact same issue on my new T713 and the channel width change from Auto to 20 worked for me on Asus router. Left the Control Channel on Auto. Thanks!
I had this same issue too. I had to turn off Power Save Support then I didn't have anymore 5 GHz slowdowns

Mine had the slowdown with Power Save off - the channel bandwidth was what fixed mine.
hey guys, my download speed is very slow on 5ghz wifi, but few time ago was working well, I dont know what happened. My macbook reach 120MB download and 10MB upload, but my galaxy s8 shows 10MB dowload speed. I tried change my channel width on router, but didn't work.

I'm finding 5GHz to be a real mixed bag across all of my devices - Tab S2 T713, 2 iPad Air 2's, Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop, a Lenovo desktop, 2 Dell desktops, and a Galaxy S7 Edge phone. Performance seems to be inconsistent and I see complete dropouts where the band isn't even visible on some devices. This is irrespective of distance from the router, an Asus RT-AC66U_B1, number of connected devices, etc. When it's good, I see 120MB/sec but other times it will drop off by 50% or more or will disconnect. I've pretty much reverted to 2.4GHz except when I get the urge to test 5GHz out again.
Today, received my phone and first thing I noticed was poor WiFi speed and upon further looking I saw poor link speed on 2.4Ghz connection and my other devices including redmi note 4(mido) and redmi 4(santoni) all had link speeds of 150Mb/s up and down while mi A2 was at 65Mb/s up and down even if I kept the phone next to router. None of my devices suffer the issue. Is the issue specific to my device or anyone else facing same? Should I return phone cause I still can. Also if anyone facing same issue can you try to see if issue exist in GSI roms as well? P.S. I am on September security patch.
Did you tried 5 ghz band?
That's what I get with the 5GHz networks. With 2.4GHz I get around 2-3 Mbps up and down. Just aweful.
The speeds are ok with me its just the range that sucks even with a case on. i had to take off the case to get that bit of extra range. They have to patch this or fix somehow cause my Moto G5Plus has waaay better range than this.

Yes, I have this issue. On 2.4GHZ network the fastest Link speed on Mi A2 is locked at 72mpbs and this was the case with Mi A1 also. But on the 5GHZ network it get higher Link speed but the stability is so bad.
I am sending a feedback via the feedback app after every update so they unlock the link speed but still nothing happened.
Just checked my 2.4GHz connection. I got the highest speed since I've bought the phone at a whopping 15Mbps on a 200Mbps network. That said, I can barely connect to the 2.4 GHz network since it just keeps dropping it. On the other hand, the 5GHz one went down to 50Mbps max... It's not exactly a deal breaker for me since I can still do everything I need on the 5 GHz network, but I'm curious what can be done about it.
Hello and sorry for my bad english. I always have Wi-Fi issues with my mi a2. ROM stock, gsi....
I heve already converted it to mi 6x and always same issues ( gsi, miui 10)....
It seems my wifi got better with that new kernel no more Disconnects.
Looks like the same issue with the A1.

Return the phone and buy other, maybe poco
The reception is bad, the speed are ok. My 5 old year Galaxy S4 have better range.
I have poor speed in 2,4 and 5gh.
And serious disconnecting problems in 5gh. I finished by don't use it as all...
Perfect with redmi note 7 and redmi note 8t.
Which custom rom have best and most stable wifi?
So I bought note 9 two days ago and it was on Samsung experience 9.5, oreo 8.1. I have a dual band D link router which has both 5.0Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi. But after pie update the phone is not picking the 5ghz band at all. I have reset the phone clear cache and also changed router settings.
I think its a software problem of one ui. Is any one facing this issue? Anying I can do to get back 5.0Ghz?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Not sure what is causing your problem, don't think it's anything to do with Pie update.
I have been using Pie for months and use 5Ghz wi fi without issues.
Also haven't read of others having similar issues on this forum .
Have you tried wi fi analyser app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer
Tried with app and still nothing. I have reset the phone, cleared cache and still nothing. Mine is a exynos model and it's update handled by Malaysian samsung team.
After One ui pie I don't even see 4k 60 fps recording in rear camera option. It's an awful update. So many things are missing. They need to work on one ui.

Not sure what to tell you. 5.0Ghz works just fine on mine. And I've been on the beta since it was released and now on the official Pie. Never had an issues with it.
Try to change the channel and check.

I have had a similar problem before and since the Pie update. I use 5 ghz band in the same room as my router. 2 Apple devices and my LGV20 are connected to the same 5ghz band. I used wifi analyzer to choose the best channel which for me is channel 40. The other devices hold signal even after sleeping. My Note 9 (unlocked American version) sometimes just loses internet. There is an exclamation point next to the wifi icon. When I check wifi analyzer the signal strength is fine (lower absolute value than 60 or higher value than -60 dbm). The worst thing is once the exclamation point appears (meaning no internet despite retained connection to router) it will never reconnect to internet unless I turn phone wifi off and on. Resetting router has no effect. I reserved an ip for the Note 9 and put the phone on fixed ip so it won't get booted by another device. I'm at my witts end.

If you search the internet you will. Lots of us have wifi icon suddenly show an exclamation point next to it
This means good connection but NO INTERNET! This despite other devices on same 5 ghz network have no problem. Wifi analyzer shows good signal and no competing networks.
The temp fix is wifi off wifi on now it reconnects and everything is fine for 20 minutes or several hours but eventually the exclamation point is back. If it would reconnect or at least try to reconnect it would work but it just sits there waiting for me to do manually.
If we had Bixby routines like the GS10 I would write a routine to toggle wifi when there is no internet but the problem is the wifi IS connected to the router so there is probably no way to write that as a routine... and we don't get routines anyway.
I agree it isn't due to Pie in fact mine is slightly more stable since pie but still that damn exclamation point!

Every time I turn off my snapdragon U.S. version note 9, I have to stand very close to the router for like ten minutes before going upstairs to my room. I have to be standing close to it before it gets picked up by the 5gz wifi. If I do not stand next to it for 10 mins after turning my phone off then on, it will not pick up the 5ghz. I know that sounds simple, but it worked for me.
(I tried first: changing wifi channels, restarting the router, turning off the 2ghz and not the 5ghz, changed passwords for each, I mean everything.)
Hope that helps!

That might help the op who posted months ago and likely solved his problem or returned his phone.
No, as I explained mine always connects and may remain connected for hours or for minutes. It never disconnects. It remains connected to router but stops receiving internet randomly at any time (connected wifi icon with ! next to it
I only use wifi in the same room as the router. It is my mancave and I spend all leisure time at home in that room. I shut off the wifi and the phone before bed. I have unlimited lte data but 5 ghz wifi is way faster. 2.4 ghz is perfectly stable but no faster than LTE+

Was trying to help the op who posted just last month.
Since the Redmi 8 don't have 5ghz Wifi capability we are stuck with 2.4ghz wifi and on my 2 Redmi 8 devices with Bluetooth enabled that kills the speeds to about 5mb. Apperently Bluetooth and 2.4ghz wifi run off same hardware or software and don't appear to play nice together..
I use multiple different wifi connections a day and was a problem for me. Anyway so this was the workaround that fixed the problem for me and my device. Pretty simple and straight forward and suppose it could work on other devices with same issue..
Always only try this at your own risk.. *As Root is Required*
First off: I'm located in Canada, could be different in another region.
I have a unlocked bootloader
latest stable Xiaomi.eu rom for the Redmi 8 installed
Official TWRP installed..
2: *Root Required*
Download and Install latest version of Magisk and flash via TWRP
3: Download and install Service Disabler from Playstore and Grant su permission after opening the app .
4: Search for Google Play Services and click on that .
5: Scroll down the list till you find NearbyMessagesService and click it to disable it permanently.
6: Now Make sure you have Google's "Nearby" functionality disabled
Go-to your Google account - Device connections - Devices - Show Notifications off.
Now back to settings - Passwords and security - Location - Scanning - turn all off
And reboot.
Now my other device is on stock MIUI and I haven't tried this on stock rom as of yet. It's my wife's device so if she lets me I will test this on her device as same issue is present.
In time I will try to see if this "fix" will retain if I unroot the device after..
*Update* this will continue to work if you unroot device.
*Update* when I installed latest Xiaomi.eu rom 11.0.10 sometimes it don't work till I reboot. Not sure why yet.
thanks for sharing
but for me I just changed the Channel used in my router and everything works fine

Yes WiFi and Bluetooth in same frequency range but that should not cause problem. My mi 8 lite manages to communicate with my mi band 3 and use WiFi ok. I had an ulefone and that worked ok. I had a blackview and that worked ok. The redmi note 8 pro did not. At first I thought it was maybe a bad chip that was leaking so tried another with same result. So its hardware related or software. But it's not the fact of both using same frequency band. As Bluetooth is not as strong a signal I would have expected that to drop not WiFi.
Xiaomi should have sorted this by now. Miui 12 still hasn't fixed this.

This is a big problem and Xiaomi should fix in the next update!
However if you mainly use Wifi at home, change the wifi frequency to 5ghz and the problem is gone.
In my modem/router you can do separate 2,4ghz and 5ghz networks (both work at same time), so my Laptop and Xiaomi phones are on 5ghz (a lot better speed in both) and old hardware are in the 2,4ghz network.
Didn't know this before, but now also my laptop wifi speed came from 30-40mb-> 120mb.

Install a custom rom like HavocOs
I have the solution ===>>> youtu . be / WMksEEKXlJY
The problem is interference with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning.
DISABLES THESE TWO CONFIGURATIONS
On MIUI 11:
SETTINGS >> Passwords & Security >> Location >>> Scanning >>>
Wi-Fi scanning> (OFF)
Bluetooth scanning> (OFF)
On MIUI 12
SETTINGS >>> LOCATION >>> Scanning >>>
Wi-Fi scanning> (OFF)
Bluetooth scanning> (OFF)
This will solve the problem of drops in the wifi.
It is NOT POSSIBLE to use Bluetooth in conjunction with wifi. But with these settings disabled, you can use wifi with better quality (as long as Bluetooth is disabled).

Thanks. I watched the video, but unfortunately it is not in English, so I didn't really understand what the actual solution is. For me it seems, that your main "trick" is to switch from 2.4GHz to 5GHz WIFI, is this right?
Would it be possible for you to write a short manual on your steps here in English, that would be great!

hello good evening colleagues
I have an issue that had already happened to me on my samsung S9 and now it happens to me on my s20 FE 5g
the problem occurs in samsung Dex HDMI
when using any app or game
the internet is slow and does not load or loads very slowly and disconnects me.
It had happened to me before, but I don't remember how I solved it.
this happens when i connect my HUB + HDMI adapter and start samsung Dex . Network speed drops drastically.
Hello partners
after an insatiable fight.
after buying another HUB + usb + HDMI. and HDMI 2.0 cable
the problem persisted.
until I remember that the problem lies in the internet modem.
hahaha
The problem is exactly in the channel where the modem is configured, you have to find which channel is less saturated
in automatic mode it showed me very slow.
I hope this information is useful.
since in automatic channel the speed of the s20 FE can drop very drastically (of course it also depends on the modem if it is modern or old)
Can this thread be closed?
the problem comes from android 13 update
apologies...

You can try getting closer to router , also on phone go to dev settings and limit background apps to none or 1 at bottom. That usually gives a little speed boost. You can prob find a 5g router at goodwill , and if it doesnt work out of box you can go look up dd wrt for it !

hello colleague
Thanks for your reply.
I already tried everything on my Router.
With Android 12 everything was running fine.
It is a 2.4ghz router.
Already modify any type of parameter. (scope, channels, etc)
but everything stays the same.
I clarify, the failure is in online games, there is a delay.
on facebook it may take a while to load between other apps.
in another house there is a dual band router.
In 5g there seems to be no delay, everything flows fine.
but i connect to 2.4 and it starts the delays.
something that did not happen to me in android 12.

Yes 5g is faster up close . The 2g is slower also bc everything ran off 2g . Think about 2g house phones everyone had. Theres more traffic on those . 5g has less traffic which helps increase your bandwidth.

replugging the usb-c adapter always immediately solves the issue but only for a brief time.
I hit this problem while traveling and using the hotel tv to watch movies that I stream via the phone over the hotel wifi (80mbits, but when the bug is on: <1 mbit) (changing the router is obviously not feasible in my case )
Could that be a general android / kernel bug?
Does anyone have a hypothesis for a technical explanation?
The bug is not occuring on 4G cellular network. Didn't test for 5ghz Wifi
