So, now that the Nexus One is sold out of the Google store, do you think prices for very lightly used Nexus Ones on eBay will go up or down soon? Today I saw a new one sell for $560, while I see online retailers and Buy-it-nows for like $650. I just now saw a used Nexus One sell for $376 in the auction, and used ones I have seen are in the high-300s and 400s (although sometimes not all the original accessories are included). So I was thinking, the prices could go up because there is a higher demand for a limited supply of great phones, while also there may be a decrease in demand for a phone that could have a loss of support in the future. But I am basically wondering, how much different do you think the prices in the near future (maybe 1 month or so) on eBay will be than they are now?

It depend on what other choice people have, There's quite a few android phone coming out, in the mean time I guess some people who have the $$ will pay high price to get what they want
my advice is to not buy a Nexus One.
The nexus one is a great phone, totally worth the price and options and if you have your mind set on one, dont let anyone tell you different. However, its being a little outdone by recent phones. It doesn't make sense to buy a phone that is already being surpassed. Currently newer android phones like the Droid X or the Galaxy S line cost the same as the Nexus but have higher hardware.
My predictions for the price of the Nexus One are: Initially the price will go up, as with all technology, if something is hard to acquire the price will jump as it is valuable and you can milk the buyer. After some time the price will stabilize and begin to be less then the $530 initial price.
Yeah to tell you the truth I would rather have something like an Evo 4G or a Droid X, but those phones are locked to their respective carriers in the USA right? I live in Germany right now and will for about another year, and I would rather have a very unlocked phone like the Nexus One which I can buy from American eBay (or Google store before it closed) and ship it here to avoid paying in Euros.
The galaxy S is a very good phone from what I hear, there is also a International version of the phone.
I bought mine €427 all-in
my screen is now cracked on my nexus after a bad drop and I have been debating if i wanted to spend 530 on a new nexus for a couple weeks now.
ultimatly i couldn't convice myself to spend that much on a phone already outdated hardware wise even though the software support is first rate.
The samsung galaxy s is an awesome phone but the fact its shipping without froyo for now is a deal killer. After using froyo I can not go back to 2.1. Some people might say just buy it and wait for it to be released this fall, but there are some eye poping rumors about the HTC vision coming out.
Overall, the nexus was a GREAT phone, and without the crack I wouldnt be in the market for a new phone but spending 600+ for one doesnt make much sense now
The big bonus everyone forgets about the N1 is that its basically a dev phone.
Google pretty much wants us to tinker with it, stuff it full of roms and abuse it.
We also get alot more access to do to our phone what other carriers and makers are trying to block and stop.
Yes the hardware isnt the "newest" of the new but I would hardly call the phone outdated. Is my 2010 Fusion outdated because the 2011s are coming out? hardly. It isnt the newest on the block anymore but its still relevant and supported.
Also, I think that unless a phone comes to market with Gingerbread later this year the Nexus will probably be the first device to run this for a few months at least.
Lastly, look at the iPhone 4. I can show you a handful of reviews where even mac fans say the Nexus one closely matches that phone in performance and features and they only release one a yr. The nexus one wont be irrelevant until next summer.
I think that, until Google proves it can push an Android update to all phones simultaneously, there will always be a market for the Nexus 1.
Well You Kinda Knew It Was Going To Happen..
When Google announced their " Silver Line " of products.. and these new products were going to go main stream retail and now it seems with the Big Four carrier's as well.. that, the price of entry was going to go up.
But an 83% increase in price over the 16 Gb entry model and roughly 62% over the 32 Gb version of the previous Nexus 5 to a whopping $650.00+ Tax.
And.. I'm sure the carrier's will offer the N6 @ $199.99 down with a commitment.. ( T-Mobile of course will go $0.00 down and 24 equal payments ) but you know the carrier versions will come with bloatware.. and will AT&T , Verizon and Sprint lock them down like they did their versions of the LG-G3 which all but halted development for that device on those carrier's?
If you can still get a *bloat free* version of the N6 directly from Google.. are you willing to pony up $650.00+ Tax & Shipping cost for the Nexus 6?

I am pretty sure they will do the same like Motorola and keep the price relatively low
Sent from my SM-T230NU using XDA Free mobile app
$650.00 is the price..
I'm in Canada, and it's 750$. It's a little too steep for me. I'll hold off for as long as my Nexus 4 is still relevant.
Price of the phones here are pretty much all the same anyway (mostly $600+) so I'm used to that [emoji19]
But the N6 looks like a direct competitor to the Note4… Hmm hard decision.

Nope I'm not paying
Nope. Was hoping to buy the 64gb one, but $700 is too much for me on a phone. I might have paid $600. Some day maybe, when the resale price drops. Hopefully there's no supply/production issues, and new resales don't get inflated like they did with the OnePlus One.
Bought a used Note 3 off Swappa for $350 instead. T-Mobile one too, so at least I can root it easily and if I get flash-happy and feel like setting the KNOX counter to 0x1, at least I can try some ROMs and kernels.
I've seen it live, it's an amazing phone! It feels great in hands and it's moving like the wind on the web and apps!
I'm still hoping the new and/or "cheaper" companies will push into the western market and stop this inflational pricing, like the Moto G or OnePlusOne
definitely won't pay 500 bucks or more for a phone
If I had the money I would have not paid $650 even for a Nexus phone plus this is too much considering I could get a phone with almost the same specs half of the price. I'll just get a Nexus 5 or Nexus 9(depending on the price)
650USD...That's about 500 Euro.
Do you lot realize that's what the Nexus 5 cost when they finally managed to import it to the Netherlands, several bloody months after the release?...
Ths Nexus 6 doesn't even have a price here yet, but if you think 640 is bad, the average price for a high-end smartphone here is 800 euro, 1025USD.
So yes, I would happily pay 500 euro for it. If it had a MicroSD slot, anyway.

It's hard decision to make, I have a Nexus 4 and skipped N5 for N6, but completely in splits right now. There is no official info on price here in India, but 650 USD translates to Rs. 39,750 and 699 USD means Rs. 42,750, I guess there will be local taxes, if I consider other flagships, S5 Exynos is down at Rs. 37,000, G3 at Rs. 40,000, Z3 is at Rs. 49,999, so taking these into consideration the asking price for N6 is okayish, but when I consider the reported OPO launch in India at the end of the year at Rs. 22,000 and the Moto X (2014) at Rs. 31,999.. I am not able to make my mind up.. both of these are great devices and they will eventually get Lollipop.
PS: I almost forgot the monstrous Lenovo Vibe Z2 here with 801, 3GB, 16MP OIS Cam, a 6" QHD Screen and a healthy 400 mAh battery available at Rs. 32,999/- Its hard decision to make!
Short answer: Hell no.
Long answer: Considering how expensive new smartphones are, its no surprise how expensive the N6 is. Some rather rich people or Nexus fans will get it, but I have never bought a smartphone over €300.-
My current phone, the Z Ultra, fulfills everything I want and I bought it for only €250.- 3 months ago. The difference between Snapdragon 800 and 805 are not that big, at least in everyday use.
Well, at least I hope this nexus will have a better quality and purchase availability.
Considering that the new nexus is 6 coll, well...
My Z ultra isnt that out of standard anymore.

^ this. I still own a GNexus, skipped n4/n5 for a n6 (to be honest, 6 was not meant as "6 inch display" but as n5 successor)
I think I will get a One Plus Two (?) or something like that
Willing? Yes
Able? HAH!
not really
Paying that much for a device, which decreases in price pretty quickly is like buying a new car: if you really like it and you won't get buyers remorse, feel free. Not for me, though.
The price is a bit high.
What I really don't like about the Nexus 6 is the long hole below, it looks too much like a Moto and it just doesn't look good with it.
Price in Norway is $865 for the 32GB version.
Hopefully the price will go down a bit when it's available in the Play store and other stores here.

hi all,
I want to purchase Note 8, but it seems to much expensive for my budget. Even though with free gifts (which you can resell) if you add up taxes, it will come up the same.
What you guy think, lets say if i wait 2-3 months the price will really drop ( I am wiling to wait until the end of year if it make sense )?
One possible scenario is they may drop the price a little bit, but also discontinue gift option, which no make sense for me.
Does anyone aware of recent dynamics, based on previous Galaxy models, lets say S8 or so?
Or , does price really drops on Black friday?
Thanks in advance.
I got my note 5 at Sam's on a preblack Friday for a $1 a few years ago

I suggest this will depend on where you live and how you make your purchase and what you are prepared to gamble.
In my country there are zero 'contract' sales. we all have to buy our mobiles at top price. There is also a sales price that all outlets maintain meaning regardless where one buys, it will be the same price, don't ask it makes zero business sense to me either. Having said that the law, in theory, protects consumers. If we don't like the purchase we have 20 days to return for a full refund. Warranty problems are generally taken care off. In other words its a relatively 'safe' place to buy a mobile.
I am paying 1,020.00€ for the Note 8. My SGS8+ cost 920.00€ , 100.00€ difference but if I take into account the free DEX offer, worth 150.00€ here, my Note 8 is cheaper than the S8+!
Now we go to the 'open market'. This can be a gamble and a nightmare. Sure you may get what you consider a bargain as many did with their Note 7 purchase from Dubai BUT when the woopsie hit the fan while I got a full refund on the spot TWICE for both iterations, those who bought from some other countries got stuffed. Not all but too many for comfort.
My point is you will get what you pay for. With an expensive purchase like this I use a reputable international outlet, FNAC, and am relatively well looked after. If I choose to do so I could also buy from, say Dubai and save tax etc but....
Amazon CAN BE a good purchase outlet BUT Amazon are using more and more third party sellers and many of those are not based in Europe meaning they are sent from China or where ever and that causes massive import problems here. IF one can purchase an Amazon sourced product that is sold by a vendor within Europe one can, after a small time frame, find the price of such items reduced. Again such reductions can mean grey imports etc. Check the sellers Amazon profile.
For me I pay top price in this country in the city I live near from a reputable outlet and sleep well at night. Not everyone is the same though, thank heavens.
Take care with such purchases its not the initial purchase than can be the problem, the problem is IF the mobile is a brick are you safe in getting a replacement under warranty etc blah blah. You pay your money you accept your choice.
Last point being how long are you willing to wait? Most of us here are techno nuts who want this device yesterday! No way would the majority of my peers here be willing to wait even an extra day to save a euro!

hi Ryland,
thanks for taking your time and replying me back.
The main point of this question is, if I wait 3-4 months will price drop ? I know it is hard to tell, but based on other models dynamics what you think?
Or lets say, if it drop just 150$ and no more free stuff , it means no make sense to wait...
I completely share your opinion that it is worth to buy from local authorized resellers...
I am located in USA..
3 to 4 months is a good time.. With s8 plus the prices fell a decent amount in 3 months..
I am on the same boat.. I want to buy a career device may be even used one. I m in Canada

yes, thats what I was thinking. Same here, I dont mind to buy a used one. Crossing fingers for battery not to go bad
Lets say how much S8 droped its initial price. I believe when it released, they were giving some extra stuff too, right? If the price just drop about same amount as gift and now dropped price option is withouit gift, it means there is no real drop, in that case no make sense to wait 12+ (3-4) months
In a couple of months you'll be able to get Note 8's off ebay at discounted prices as people will sell who've received free upgrades etc. Also set up Pricespy alerts online. Sometimes sellers offer 10% off deals for instance so you should find something in a few weeks. And of course it depends how successful it is!

exactly. I don't think the DEX thing is a good promotion either and obviously no one is buying it and they've a huge stock to dispose of (otherwise why not reduce the price of the phone and make it more attractive). Companies generally won't allow USB devices to connect to laptops and I don't have a screen or keyboard at home as got 2 tablets and a smart tv. There will be loads of DEX for sale for £40 soon as people realise its not getting used.

Mmmm, A lot of what you write holds water however I think the DEX, worth 150€ here, is a very nice free offer. I have no interest in the DEX despite being addicted to gadgets and tech toys, I do understand though that the DEX certainly has appeal to a wide range of other users and is one very clever set up.
I would not have bought the DEX simply because I have zero use for it and even though tempted I just knew it would end up in a draw collecting dust. As one is coming free I will try it out then after let it collect dust in a draw.
Just as a foot note the DEX is selling very well here and its been difficult to even find one in stock in any outlet. I guess such hardware sales will vary from country to country though. :good:

so i have my internet through Xfinity it is kind of required as far as i know. but go to https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/
and you pick the device and the "pay by the gig plan" cause then they dont charge you for data unless you use it. and go from there the note is like 32 bucks they have a protection plan for 12 more also. and after all of it you pay the 1st month payment on the phone (32) and the taxes (mine came to 67 bucks) so a total of 102 bucks give or take for me to preorder the Note8.
Hard to beat Verizon + Best Buy offer! $12.75/mo for 24 months is outstanding for a phone of this quality. That's what, $300? Tough to beat!
Find someone who had the Note 7 and doesn't want to Note 8 and use their promo to get the $425 Trade in

"Device Payment Pricing & Other Info
Offers valid 8/25/17 through 9/13/17. Restrictions apply. $200 savings off regular retail price when activating a new XFINITY Mobile line of service. Valid on select devices. While supplies last. Limit 5 per account. © 2017 Comcast. All rights reserved.

so basically in order to get the phone, you have to activate a new mobile line.

It's now sub 1200 Euros in Germany, if you look around a bit. Nearing 1100 in a few places.
Price has cratered harder and faster than any phone in living memory.
Samsung must be pumping these out of the factory pretty quickly, and not intending for new models to take as long as Fold 1 to Fold 2.
I can see this going below 1000 around Black Friday, and definitely by the New Year. If it's not already replaced by the end of Q1 '21, I'd imagine the phone might see significant development and community involvement, below 1k.
You're insane.

Really, care to explain why? Lowest retail price has dropped over 700 Euros in less than 2 months.
Samsung are well known for front-loading pricing, and quickly tapering it to distributors and wholesalers, but it's never been quite like this. The device is clearly intended to sell in volume, and not be the flagship for anything like as long as the Fold 1.
Re: development, plenty of 800-1200 Euro devices see lots of development.

In the next two days I am going to buy a brand new in box Z Fold2 for €1.000 or less in Germany.
Not from a shop (several are offering them for €1.150 already) granted, but in Germany a lot of Z Fold2 have been included in a subscription renewal package where people just keep their current phone and monetize the Z Fold2.
I see the prices going down almost daily. It's a simple matter of supply and demand.
Check out https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/
The same thing happened with previous Samsung flagships.
LG devices also depreciate very quickly, but that is because noboby wants them and LG has to lower the RRP to sell them.

I know it's probably a foreign concept, but supply chains and retail channels are relatively competitive in Europe .. particularly Germany.
Probably seems unreal to you when informal price fixing in a hugely non-competitive market rules in the US ... and you just got a Verizon Fold 2 for $$$$$$$$$$, with no hope of waiting for discounts.
Why do you think anyone with a clue in the US buys from European retailers? Price including tax in Europe (which you don't pay) is usually much cheaper than price excluding tax at US retailers, save for Apple. That's what no competition does.
And now you're mad and refuse to believe anything.

Those are pretty much all either used or branded / locked to a network.
Show me a link to a commercial seller who sells sim free new sealed box Fold2 including full 2 year official Samsung warranty ... if you can't then just delete this thread
Not true, as I have explained most of them are new in wrapped box with full Samsung European warranty.
And as far as I know no German provider sells these branded and/or SIMlocked.

Lol.
Are you really not able to use price comparison sites or enter search terms and use filters on Ebay?
Rhetorical question. Evidently not.

I don't think any contract phones have been branded / locked for 5-6 years in DE ... and he appears to be implying these are secondhand contract phones. I'm not even sure heavily subsidised pay as you go phones are branded anymore.
Lowest retail price for sealed NIB Fold 2 in DE is 1149.99 today. It has been lower. Trend is still downwards quickly though.
I bought one of these z fold 2 of Germany.
1215€ and came sealed... I activated Samsung care+
I dont know the reason of the low prize of those phones, but are real and legal.

I bought this Fold 2 for one month ago too in Germany ebay kleinanzeigen 1350 Euro) . some people buy buissness phone cards with a fold 2 and they sell the fold 2 and use the phone card.
Now it is sometimes a little bit cheaper but ok .... I use it for over a month now and I love this phone ! So great stuff Samsung did here ...
You can buy these used for around $1400 US off of Ebay (which is around 1250 Euro, which is what I see it for on the German eBay site). Hoping for a slight bit more of a price drop from Black Friday, but I noticed that Samsung is still selling it for its original price, and they've dropped the price of trade ins by around $200.
I don't know why anyone would have paid full price in the US as it was on sale the opening day at every possible outlet and you would have had to literally give them more money than they were asking for the device in order to pay MSRP; I paid 1600 directly from Samsung's site on pre-order for the unlocked variant and others did better. Day one the latest greatest is always going to be more expensive than it will be just a short time later; you all know that, I'm not telling you something you didn't know. You do need to put it on a level playing field though, you can't compare the MSRP here to the actual price somewhere else at a different time, you have to compare actual price at the same specific time in order to get a valid comparison.

I'm looking to buy it again, and I'm not seeing all these great deals. Samsung's site is $1999, unless you trade in a device. The deals on eBay are ok for a used device, but not great. Amazon has some refurbs for $300 off, which is ok, but again, it's a refurb, to which they only promise that you won't notice a problem "holding it at arm's length". I haven't seen any sign of a new unit coming down in price from $2k.

Be very wary of purchasing a phone tied to a network contract.
These phones may get blacklisted a few months down the line if the original owner doesn't pay the bill, or if they have insurance and claim a month or two later that it has been lost or stolen.
... I know this from experience ... you could end up with a 1000 euro "tablet" that cannot use a sim card anywhere in EU

It's good advice, and I am worried about it. I see a number of devices for sale that say they're on a contract. Kind of terrifying that someone decides to switch providers and suddenly my phone is blacklisted.
Starting to hope for a Black Friday sale!
Too early to believe, but Samsung Opera House(Bengaluru) has started taking blind prebooking for the Galaxy S21 series already as per THIS article.
Unsurprisingly India would get the Exynos 2100 SoC in this series and I just hope it performs on par with Snapdragon 888.
Why would they make the screen smaller for the s21 ultra than the existing one ? No one seems to have mentioned this.
yeah its only .100" smaller, too me that`s not a big thing for me, but the thing is it will have the LTPO display which I guess is supposed to give better contrast to black colors, also I`m not sure but i have heard talk of the fingerprint reader being 2x faster...... so well see, I`ll be ordering one in the unlocked in black the 512gb version
In the USA you can register for your S21 in the Samsung Shop app. Looks like you get an extra $70 store credit for registering. Can't wait to get the S21 ultra!

The thing I like about Samsung out here in India is that with perks of cashbacks & coupons(if prebooked) the pricing becomes eqivalent to the USA pricing(has been so far) ..
I'm finding the news [email protected] S21 series interesting too. Will get "Exynos" but highly it feels like it would be on par this time around, if not better, excluding the GPU.
I seriously hope the LTPO on the S21 series is far more superior to the one on Note 20U.
I had serious banding/green tint issues and a horrible battery drain problem due to it. The 60fps video recording also had hunting issues even with laser auto focus.
I'm back to S20U, the display feels a lot more stable and a long lasting battery.

We're coming from S10+ getting the Ultra cause of the specs and my husband likes the camera features. It'll probably be to big for me but I am getting it. We won't upgrade for a while so I want the best of the bunch.
Do you think there will be any discounts with pricing if you don't trade in? I have a S9+ right now and am waffling back and forth between getting the S21 Ultra or getting a Note 20 Ultra ($800 thru work).
Have pre-reserved for S21 series because I thought we'd get the Buds Pro and Smart tag as preorder offers alongwith the free case. That is what the leakers had said a few days back but not it seems Buds Pro won't be part of the offer. Also coupled with missing charger and possible missing SD card and extra charges for SPen, will it be worth spending so much extra to sell my Note 20 U for the S21U?
P.S. The only reason I was willing to upgrade was because my Note 20 U is getting heated up a lot + because of the Exynos 2100 finally catching up to SD.

You got the VIP pass for the next Galaxy after you pre reserved it?
In India prebooking is of no use, last time for the Note 20U the cashback and freebies were offered even to customers who did not prebook and bought the phone well after the prebook purchase window. (craze for flagships in India are at an all time low, thanks to OnePlus and Samsung themselves).
Also the Note 20U was up in the corporate program with 5% discount in a matter of few days including the 9k cashback and freebies.
I will get the S21U only during the first week of Feb.
I'm expecting the price to be around 90k for S21U 256gig, anything more than that, I might as well wait for Z flip 2/3 later in April.

No I didn't get any VIP pass. Was I supposed to? If I don't like what I see tomorrow, I am going to just refund my ₹2000 and wait for Feb/March to buy it. The only thing keeping me from the flip/fold is that the camera is always a generation behind in these devices.
I for one, do no find these "pre-registering"(or any other name) hulabaloos fascinating at all given that it's a Samsung flagship.
Irrespective of card/cash or other payment methods, I've been getting Samsung flagships on the very 1st day of market release buying from small retailers for a much lower price than the price quoted by bigger retailers or the biggest retailers with a fixed price or buying directly from Samsung online or offline for quite sometime now. The cost everytime turns out to be the lowest this way in comparison to the cost combined with any other CC/DC cashbacks/corporate offers/exchange offers/finance schemes etc... you name it.
Samsung tends(or "pretends" to be precise) to be strict with such retailers but being consumers all we need is a genuinely sourced product and a proper invoice. It makes sense because once we want to sell it later, the resale value will not at all differ based on which store we bought it from.
+
In my case, prebooking offers are always applicable in the first place as one or the other re-seller does pre-booking taking the required credentials after me getting bombarded with calls soon after official announcement of the flagship.

Smaller retailer like non Samsung but authorized dealers like Sangeetha Mobiles, Chroma, Reliance Digital?
By how much you get a discount on the selling price, I have never tried this as I always get it from the Samsung Cafe.
I kinda feel awkward asking for a discount in Samsung Cafes

No not those big formats, they don't as they don't need to and they can't either. Smart cafés can but they will not.
Instead, approach a few small multibrand players if you have time for it. They need flagship buyers to stay alive in the eyes of big brands for their own promotion/survival and to do so, they let go of it for extremely thin margins.
I happened to purchase two N20U units costing 90k each from two diff. sellers(when it was 1st released) - that's one example.

AFAIK, Samsung smart cafe franchises actually get the highest profit margins for each product they sell compared to other resellers. And it's the marketing skills and subsequent illusions created by the staff that make one feel awkward to ask for a discount.... Nope? The one running the franchise CAN give big discounts, but doesn't want to. They actually ended up giving me discounts a few times in the past but then I stopped visiting them lately as altogether I don't find it worth it.
