have a Nexus one running Cyanogen and the UV UC Kernel from persian.
I do not have setcpu to run it overclocked but have setcpu to run at normal speed, and with prolonged use the temp can reach 94-98 degrees. Standby etc it runs upper 70's.
Problem I am having is that when I run it in my car using a car charger and with GPS running it quickly hits 99 degrees. Mind you that setcpu is under-clocked it to 763 while it is charging. I have my failsafe set to 98 degrees and it goes to ~650 but the temp still rises albeit slowly.
What is a dangerous temp for the phone? I have not had any adverse effects, but I believe with my 98 degree failsafe setting I am being very conservative.
Has anybody watched their temps while charging and using to see what temp you phone stabilized at? modded or un-modded?
Nearly 106. But now I've got an Air Vent holder for the phone and it stays pretty cool. Don't remember exactly what temp it was, but I believe that it stayed in the low 80s (with music playing on top of GPS & plugged in). Haven't used GPS lately.
+1 I did notice my battery was abnormally hot when I run GPS. My failsafe is 40C or about 100-102F... Usually over that FC's the Phone or makes it hang. At least my experience.
Thanks, I did notice this evening that my phone hung up after exciting Copilot a couple times. I could open up any icon on the home screen but it would not scroll, however the temp was only about 96 so I am wondering if it was more of a problem with co-pilot. I also ran pandora and copilot at home for over an hour hooked up to the computer and the temp only hit 91. The phone still gained positive charge but not very much. I might try getting a USB charger and slow charge in the car instead of the 1a car charger I am using now.
hi
What is the normal device temperature that you see.. I m not talking abt the battery temperature.. I am talking about the device temperature ...
I am checking the device temperature using the cpu temp app
The normal temperature that I noticed when I got up in the morning was 32c
It is with wifi ON and brightness set to auto and normal 2g
after some minor use the temp now is 40-45c
If I do a 4k recording for 2 minutes.. It becomes really hot and temp goes to 70c
If I play a game the temp goes to 55-60c
While running antutu benchmark it restartEd once... He temp was around 65 for some time
while charging the temp is around 50c?
The device screen really feels hot , even more then the leather back
So are these things normal?
Or is this some hardware problems
I have already checked the battery stats and don't see anything unusual hogging the battery
I have not installed any apps.. Just the ones for speedtest, antutu, cup temp etc
Awaiting replies
Anyone... Any replies... At least the average device temperature
So many views...but no replies...
Ran antuntu and it capped at about 62C. Chill and uninstall the temp apps and use your phone normally.
thanks for the reply.. also can you check the temp while shooting at 4K for couple of minutes?
There is no such normal device temp. The device temp depends on the battery temp. If its between 10-15° c above the battery temp. Then its pretty normal in running conditions ... If the battery temperature rises then automatically the device temp will rise ... In most of the devices its between 40-45°c .. The normal device temp. And 1 more thing the device temp also depends on the type of ui u r using
Sent from my LG-D410 using XDA Free mobile app
You just said there is no normal, but the normal is 40-45°. It also depends on the temperature of your surroundings. I love in southern California and have to mount my phone in front of my air conditioning because our summers were up to 44c this year. I once had my Nexus 5 shut off from heat when it wasn't in front of the air.
Anyways. You're fine buddy, processors throttle at a certain temp and also shut down automatically around 75-80C.
Hey everyone,
I got a problem with my phone heating up fast for no reason. Just using chrome or YouTube and is starts to get warm after like 2-5mins. Gaming usually I expect the phone to heat up but overall doesn't make sense.
This what I have done: bootlocker unlock, twrp, magisk(cts profile error tho), kernal adiutor(when back normal setting), on b381 version
Thx
Heats up fast and adiutor shows like 50 to 60 Celsius
I can't be the only but has anybody noticed the phone overheating quickly with moderate gaming or even an antutu benchmark. This is without X mode. When I do the same with my K20 Pro, it doesn't overheat like the Rog Phone 2.
How are you defining overheating? The device throttling? Do you receive overheat warnings?
Just because a phone gets hot doesn't mean it's performing worse. If anything it could mean it has better heat dissipation due to better contact between cooling and cpu. I play dual screen 2 games at once for 3 hours straight and the cpu remained cool around 40C. I kept my cpu speed down because it was overkill anyway

Can feel the heat near the upper left of the back of the phone. Temps were in 40s.
40s is not overheating at all. ROG phone has higher surface temperature than some phones but it's because it's barely throttling even after 1 hour of gaming. No need to worry

Exactly, it's not overheating, it's doing its job. It's moving that heat away from the internal components and to the outside of the phone via the vapor chamber, external vent, and aluminum side body section near the vent. Throw a slim case on the phone if you don't like feeling it warm in your hands, or tweak the game mode profiles to underclock the CPU and GPU and/or lower the thermal limit during games that make it heat up too much in your hand.

Agreed. It makes perfect sense that the t6ip left is getting warm, that's where the vent is
Rog phone 2 tencent edition overheating and shutting down
My Phone overheats and shuts down when under heavy load, or while charging while im sleaping. it first happened while playing pubg mobile and streaming my game to youtube. I can feel it gets very hot and after a while it just switches off. i also tried the antutu stress test and when it reaches 5% it switches off, i opened the armory crate to check the temps while antutu was doing the stress test and saw that my cpu reaches 73°c and then again it switches off. this is with xmode off.

That's definitely abnormal. You should try to get a replacement or warranty repair.

any updates. i’m having the same issue.
Same here. When I play games like ML or any games my phone overheating fast then my screen will turn off ..and another issue when I charge my phone while overheat my phone will shutdown
does anyone knows how to fix this?:crying::
I'm having the same issue. Charging overnight - it gets really hot, and sometimes it'll randomly reset. Not gaming or running much in the background. It happened since the last update prior to the most recent
Keep in mind that Rog phone 2 has a SnapDragon 855+ and + means it's overclocked. While other normal phones out there runs on default speed settings. So that's probably why Rog phone 2 can get hot quickly due to it's overclocking.
Mine gets very hot along the edges. In fact it gets so hot along the edges that it burns my fingers. CPU temp doesn't ever go much above 45 but the sides become untouchable... Is this a feature designed to stop you playing and thus save the phone from melting in your hands? ??

I had this problem on Android 10, but the problem was reduced when downgrading back to Android 9.

Yep android is a dealbreaker. Extreme overheating cause of the software.
After long time and intensive research, I found the real problem which is cpu/gpu refusing to throttle while on load. Usually the system reduces the clock speed of the cpu to keep the temperature between acceptable working range (room temperature - max of 60°c)
If cpu doesn't throttle, the cpu temperature rises until it reaches the max (i.e 65°C which is critical temperature as per A10s updated thermal framework) and shuts down the device.
I found a workaround which involves reducing manually the clock speed as the temperature increases.
But it requires tasker app(paid) and root to work.
Hi everyone,
I recently bought an S23 Ultra, after installing various device info apps (devcheck - device info HW - aida64) I realized that the Cpu temperature reaches 95 degrees in a moment ...
I put in screen sharing an app info and geekbench6
Do you think it is normal or a defect of my phone?
I add some screens.
194°F at idle? That's way hot even under load.
What's display brightness at? What's the ambient temperature? Battery temp?
168F tops is all I would go for the CPU, maybe 186F but that's pushing it for a smartphone.
Find out what's using all the power and tone it down. Don't count on temperature throttling or auto shutdown to save it from a thermal runaway. It may shutdown and never wake back up...
If the device is hot to the touch, shut it down, power it off. 140F is the top limit for the battery and that's too hot. With a full charge on the cell it can degrade it permanently.
Room temperature : 24 degrees
Battery temperature does not exceed 42 degrees.
That is the CPU Temperature during geekbench6 with cpu running at 100%

I wouldn't bench it if it's running that hot!
Lol, if my battery gets above 105-6F I shut it down.
