Oneplus 3T over G5 - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello guys
I'v got the Lg g5 for 3 months and been good so far
But so disappointed with the locked bootloader and no root for the device and the battery is not that good . hardly last for 8 hours .
I'v been considering replacing it with Htc 10 Oneplus 3 or 3T since i'v only heard good things about this phone .
Would be happy if you guys tell what u think about your phone and does it better than G5 ? Any one had compared this 2 phones ?
Anything would help
Thanks for share your opinion ☺

Go with the 3T, but you'll miss the camera on your G5.

I actually have a very close friend who has a G5. He was happy with it at first, but then the screen started getting TERRIBLE burn-in. That phone has gone down-hill from there. He said that whenever he gets the money for it, he's going to get a phone "like mine." The 3T. Ha!

Is that because 3T camera is bad or the G5 has an amazing one

Little bit of both.
Go with 3T, unless you are a heavy photographer. G5 is a trash.

I'd go with the OP3T too. My gf has the G5, I just don't find it as good. Wish she'd got a 3T as well, much easier for me to keep everything in check.

I find it a little funny that someone said S7 is better. I guess when it comes down to it, as others have already mentioned; the S7 DOES have a better camera, higher res display, and a little smaller in size so it's easier to hold.
Outside of that, when it comes to performance, the OP3T will run laps around the S7 and S7E.
I have an S7, and had to send it for service twice already. I just purchased the OP3T last night and can't wait to get it!
Oh 1 more thing... OOS > Touchwiz

OP3T is "flying" ..Go for it......

Go with the 3T! The G5 is a "good" phone overall with a killer camera. But the 3T with its good camera is the better phone.

Thanks guys
I will work on it. Swap the G5 with 3T
Appreciated

What are you going to take after the 4X HD ?

Hi people
We are at the end of 2014, the LG 4X HD have more than 2 years of life.
I liked it, but now the phone is laggy, autonomy sucks (need a 4800mah and finish at 40% my days on CM11), my screen have strange little white points..ect
It was a good companion, but it's time...TO CHANGE !
And i suppose i'm not the only one here who will do this (or have done this).
So, what are you going to buy (or already bought) for replace your 4X HD ?
I think i gonna buy the LG G3, because i like big screen, good perf, LG functionalities. He haves a "good" autonomi, nice camera, cool screen and cost less than 380€ (good deal :good: )
Or maybe a Huawei Honor 6, cheaper, smaller but good too.
And you ?
I'll wait for q1 2015 to change device probably, if the phone survives till then since I cracked the screen few weeks ago. Gonna pick up snapdragon 810 device, possibly z4
Probably One PlusOne or LG G3. But very likely OPO.
On Saturday I switched to the HTC One M8, after I have softbricked my 4X HD with a Lollipop Test build I have compiled. [emoji43] Anyways, the 4X HD was laggy with every rom after a while and battery life and GPS were horrible and sooner or later I wanted to buy a new smartphone anyways. My big thanks to the great devs here! Hope you'll get Android Lollipop working!
Greetings,

Well, every now and then i click through new phones, i very much like the honor 6, i love the Z3 compact for its water resistance (who wouldnt want to take a shower while keep listening to his favorite audio book?), but i always end up thinking "why would i need a new phone? the lg 4x hd is still good, it has 720p, it has a quad core with 1,5GHz, and i dont really need more atm. phones like that still cost 200+ €, and i dont want to spend 300€ or more for a marginal performance boost."
after all, its still only a phone. its not my friend, its not a PC, its no house, and it will never be.
99% of the time i use it for communication, email and whatsapp that is, and it can do this as good as every hi-end phone.
at work i have a full fledged PC, at home i watch TV on a smart TV with amazon prime / maxxdome, i play on my PC, not on the phone, so theres really little useful space left for a 500€ high end phone.
its a toy, you want to have it, because you are used to wanting it, but thats because you got drilled to feel this way your whole life. :silly:
i will wait until this phone design gets more useful.
i can imagine a phone with an included beamer for displaying, with a laser keyboard for typing, i want REAL mobile flatrates, but until then i just dont need a "new" device with about the same specs for another some-hundred Euros. I bought a new Battery for 7€ at amazon for the p880, and that was enough for me.
So: I will wait until my phone breaks or some of the ideas i mentioned above will find their way into new products, but for now im fine with our good old p880.
Wow it's funny nobody look for the same phone, some Z4 (good luck for waiting ), Z3C, M8...
But take a Nexus 5 now, when some flagship of 2014 fall under 350€ ? mmmh
And yes the OnePlus One looks cool too, but bugs and SAV don't reassure me, so nope
But the most stranger here is...that nobody want to retake a LG Device ?

You are right Adam77Root, but the LG G2 will have 5.0 like the G3, so it's better now (it can't be worst yep ^^)
Got an invite to the Oneplus One. Fairly cheap and fast hardware is what I like .
Before I switch to it though I'm (hopefully) gonna test Android 5.0 on the P880 first.
Loved this phone, got it for around 130 US $. Gets pretty hot sometimes but it still runs everything just fine with Zaiben RC17 rom.
I've bought an Redmi 1s.
No regret, for it's price, it's verry nice .
iam already on Sony Z3, x4 was a bad experience in every way
I have a "very bad" temptation : I might buy a Blackberry Passport which gives me the opportunity to be different and at the same time not to leave the Android World completely...
But the cost is very very high at the moment and Sony Z3 compact could be a better reasonnable choice
Welp, I buckled down and ordered Oneplus One with my friend from Germany, and it was delivered to him today. I'll be switching to Oneplus One once he's back in Bosnia, in a week or two.
I'll keep monitoring our phone subforum untill I recieve it, and hopefully even after that. @Demetris , @laufersteppenwolf, @Adam77Root - Thanks a bunch for everything you've done for our device. @iodak , hvala i tebi brate.

Who's actually happy?

I see a lot of negativity towards OnePlus on here. I'm a first time OnePlus owner and I just want to say I'm really happy with my OP3, I paid £330 for it I think from o2 in the UK.
I'm happy with the premium feeling phone for the price I nearly waited for the Pixel then saw the price...
I'm not bothered at all about the OP3T as when I get the OP4 in 5 months time all the 3T fans will be crying too.
I'm happy with the speed we got a 7.0 CB. I've not spotted any bugs that affect my use yet just wondering if anyone else has? It's quick and smooth for me so far!
So come on who else is happy!?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Most people are probably happy with this phone, but happy people don't go around on online forums talking about how happy they are. Unhappy people are usually a vocal minority
Me too exact same story of yours but coming from 6p lol i really like this device

I was also tempted by a 2nd hand 6P. It was between that. The Pixel and the OP3!

^this. the OP3 is an excellent phone. And i'm more than happy with it, i used to have an LG G3, and an LG G4, it was good phones, but not as good as the OP3.
Quite happy with OP3. I'm coming from a 5 year old Galaxy S3. I hope the OP3 will last as long (as I don't upgrade often), but only time will tell.
I absolutely love this phone and totally agree with your post. Nice to see some positivity!
same here ! happy totally ! it's a lovely phone for the price and plus no issues as such. people do expect a lot and as the saying goes "expectations hurt". people want more for less and the wanting never stops ! humans after all
OP3 is a great device. no matter 3T has come around and devices will keep coming . Staying content with what we have is the best mentality .
Cheers to this device manufacturers and the people who own it and are happy. ?
Totally happy Awesome device. Just updated to official Nougat. Everything runs great.
Just wanted to add some positivity here too. Love this phone. Got it when it first came out and still enjoying the hell out of it. Great to see so many devs on board and we are spoiled with the amount of roms to choose from.
I like this thread. Gratitude and appreciation not found too often online, or anywhere for that matter, these days.
Apart from the average front camera quality and not that good battery life (i am a heavy gamer, 2-3 hours MC5 in a day), i am totally happy with the device. Did not feel any upgrade over OnePlus One apart from an extra sim slot, lol.
Satisfied, yes. But
Satisfied, yes. But since I bought OP3 in late October when I saw OP3T I said, because they lied to me. It was enough to say fine from the beginning: we will put 2 Smartphon different in six months, you should know this
I love the Op3, I want the T though, so need to sell my OP3 first. \o>

Well from where i see it, they saw a chance to upgrade because their inventory was already depleted and they had to order new S820 chips anyways, so they might opted for S821 instead. If you are not fond of unlocking bootloader, rooting, flashing roms/kernels, i would recommend to switch to 3T. But the OP3 has good and a dedicated dev community already, By the time 3T gets it, we may already see OP4 news. So not much of a difference imho. The only tempting thing is the 128GB storage option which i have made my peace with now, lol.
Im happy with the op3 but the move of oneplus for the 3t is horrible i have to pay 449 euro beacause im in switzerland and have to wait 4 months to have the possibility of buying it

Have you thought about 3rd party apps may cause the drain? I'm actully testing the standby drain while using wi-fi and its a bit more than 1% per hour. Pretty awesome
I love the phone, probably my favourite and I'm coming from a 6P. The company however is a bit unconventional to say the least, and they are extremely poor at communicating i.e. flagship out of stock for weeks, MIA without explanation then, boom out of the blue comes the +£70 updated version.

returned my 3t...

Ok so after I got my op3t I had horrible battery drain issues, after that my vibration got very loud buzzy and wierd... And I couldn't handle with the phone like that... So I returned it and got my money back...
Now I need a new phone... And I consider if to wait till mid + 2017 until I decide what phone to get or just buy an HTC 10 (or v20 but everyone say that it has stuttering problems)
now... what do you suggest? Should I get the HTC 10? wait? Or get a new 3t...?
(I'm not considering the S7 because no USB-C)
I need a very very good battery and camera
A very good performance
A nice vibrant screen and good build quality...
What phone do you suggest?
Or.. what do you suggest I'll do?
(Meanwhile I have a broken HTC M8)
Thank you!!!

HTC 10, V20 and S7 are the same price as him in Israel... You sure?
Unlocked pixel, or another 3T or wait for the S8
If I were you, I will try my luck to get another brand new 3T since you already said that the S7 were not an option anymore.
The lousy vibration might be the hardware or manufacturing defect, however as for the battery drain, for sure, I'm not experienced it. Currently, my 3T running on the latest OOS 4.1.0 with latest ElementalX kernel and the battery life is just fine for me.

man I suggest you to go for another 3T or HTC 10. I own both phones And I love them so much. HTC 10 will not give you the best of everything but the overall experience is perfect. and balance. the build, the screen, the feel in hand, the speakers, the camera and the nougat is so stable I can say its stable than most smartphones these day (oh wait pixel is the number 1 in term of software). you can head up to htc 10 forum and there is no complain thread. I can afford any phone but I still cant find the perfect 10/10 phone this year. I would say no even someone offered me S7 or v20 or ultra U for free.
Both phones I rate 8/10. good luck

I dont know based on your rate its samsung s7 edge. I dont think you should wait. you buy a phone when you feel to. you wait for another 3months to buy a new phone then you will have to wait for another 3-5 months waiting for the price drop and in the next few months there will always new phones come again. you will keep waiting forever.

I still have my M8. Going from M8 to HTC 10 is not a day and night different but its an upgrade tho because M8 still runs good in any day.
What I dont like on 3T is the amoled yellowiest screen and the camera. the rest im very satisfied if oneplus fix those in op5, sure 2017 is the year.

The plus 3 screen is beautiful and white. The whites are the whitest whites I have ever seen on a smartphone. What are you talking about? Maybe the one you saw had night mode on... The camera is actually pretty good and the 60fps video is amazing!
But sure... The 10 really does seem better and the camera rated only one point less than the pixel

3T or S8?

Hey guys, i'm currently looking into getting a 3t or s8 because i'm tired of having an iphone 6 for 2 years. Before the Iphone 6 I had the HTC One X, and then the HTC One m7. They were good phones but both spazzed out on me so I got rid of them. I'm looking into going back to android but I don't know if I should go with the s8 or 3t.. any suggestions? I know for the price the 3t is hard to beat, but i'm also a little worried about going ahead and getting one because the Oneplus 5 may be right around the corner...
thanks guys!
I went for the oneplus 3t and I'm keeping this handset at least for the next year or two. Plenty of development and just a quick snappy phone with massive ram.

Yeah I went ahead and got the 3t. I dont want to spend $300 more for the S8. Hopefully we get lots of updates in the future.
I went for the 3T no bloatware, rooting capabilities (flashing mods and kernels) best bang for your buck
I love my 3T. My only concern is Oneplus commitment to updates on phones that aren't current. Sure, the Oneplus 3 and 3T continue to get regular updates. The Oneplus 2 and X get nothing however.
So will this happen when the Oneplus 4/5 comes out? I don't care as I update to the new phone whenever Oneplus does. But for those who want to keep their handsets longer? Who knows.

Yep, i'm a bit worried about this too. It seems like we have a really good dev community though so I'm sure this phone will be popular for a while.
For the main question, I'm kind of debating this myself too - I actually have both on order and am going to compare them before I make my decision. However, I will say the only thing that's drawing me to the S8 is the wow factor of it - and newness of the display and whatnot. In terms of tried and true performance, I really don't think a Samsung phone will be able to beat the 3T. Samsung just has never optimized their OS that well.
As for the 3T getting regular updates, this is just a guess of mine, so take it with a grain of salt, but I feel like OnePlus will support the 3T longer than they did the OP2 and OPX partially because it came out later in their release cycle, and that they're continuing to release new variants of it. It'd be really surprising for them to pitch the matte black version of the phone in April, and then fail to provide any updates for it after the OP5 comes out in July or August or whenever. It could certainly happen, but it seems like bad business to me.
Even still, with the independent development community OnePlus phones have, even if there's no official updates, you should still have unofficial releases coming for quite some time. I know someone who didn't replace their OnePlus One until very recently purely because it was still a perfectly satisfactory experience for them.
S8 benchmarks about the same as the Oneplus 3T. Of course they also force touchwiz, a locked bootloader, and other bloatware on you. If you root or care about custom roms don't get a s8.
OP3T. If you're a member here , I guess you wouldn't like to deal with all that locked bootloaders and other stuff to customize your phone
Well, you live in the US, so 3T. Otherwise I'd go with the S8 INTL Exynos.
It is indeed much pricier, but you get a big screen, IP67, much better camera and some additional features. Software side, their GraceUX (7.0) update on the S7 was already great - but the OOS on the OP3Tis just faster and more AOSP feeling

It is indeed much pricier, but you get a big screen, IP67, much better camera and some additional features. Software side, their GraceUX (7.0) update on the S7 was already great - but the OOS on the OP3Tis just faster and more AOSP feeling

I have the 3t, decided to order the s8. The GraceUX look amazing. So much better than TouchWiz. Hated that. Also hated the bloatware on Samsung phones, so thats why I did not go for the s7. They have really pared back the bloat on the S8 and that screen, just draw dropping! The 3t is ok, but I hate the fingerprint scanner. Why did OP have to introduce their own method instead of using qualacoms. It takes several attempts some times to unlock the phone. Just dont like it at all!

If you like to change from one cage to another, take the S8 and pay a lot money for it... But if you like not to be a cagebird anymore, you have to choose the OP3T!!!
Don't make a mistake!
Cheers
Clark
Well there's really no contest here tbh. The S8 is obviously the superior phone. However, it also has the superior price... So it's really up to you how much you wanna spend. You won't be disappointed either way.
As long as you're in the us go with the the 3t. I love this phone, I'm going to stick with it til the 5/6 comes out then upgrade. Even if after his year they slow down with the updates to oos, I do believe with the 3 they will keep up with the security patches. I have flashed most if the roms in the forums and all of them are great as well. Allot of flexibility and the hardware/software combination is phenomenal in both performance and battery. I've had several htc's, lg's, and galaxy's and tbh I don't believe I will ever go back any of them as long as oneplus is in business. Even then I may try out a huawei or another chinese company as well. Bang for buck they seem to have it down very well in comparison to the bigger companies.
3T without a doubt
If I had those two devices in front of me so that I could go home with one of them, that would be 3T regardless of anything
Actually the only better feature of S8 is the display, but nothing more. OP beats the new Samsung in every aspect (not to mention software factor)

Better screen, better CPU, better GPU, wireless charging, better data/wifi speeds, way better camera, IP 6/8 (dust proof and water resistant), IRIS scanner, heart rate sensor.
Come on guys.. I love my 3T too but let's try to stay within the realms of reality here... The S8 crushes the 3T in everything except in charging speeds, software (with this one being subjective) and price. Where I'm from, an S8 plus will cost around the same as 2 Oneplus 3T's.
never go with samsung.
they fck up android so hard, everytime.
worst company when it comes to software. by far.

But it's Samsung
Their flagship will be obsolete in a year or so while we will still be getting independent developers' support. The device is only as good as its software.
My experience with Samsung is just horrible and their devices are just hyped up (like Apple products). If you want a really decent Android experience then definitely don't go that way.
I confess, I quite exaggerated speaking about the technical side of this all but as I said my story with Samsung is terrible and I really do think that their products are just bad.

Having used both the oneplus 3t and S7 edge , considering the fact that you went from HTC to iPhone i figure you would not want to fool around your phone with root and all . i therefore suggest going with s8 if you can afford . Like others have said and my personal experience touchwiz is not really that blotted (at least on the international variant ) and camera on the s7/s8 will stomp op3t any day not to mention the water and dust resistance and biggest of all if available Samsung pay !

eh I don't really care about samsung pay. I'll probably root it but I don't think i'll mess with flashing ROMs anymore like I did on my HTC's, if i do it won't be any time soon. I went ahead and got the 3t because I'm not really trying to spend $700.

Should i get a oneplus 3t?

I love everything about this phone, but i heard the screen looks fuzzy due to the pentile technology. Do you people think this screen looks fuzzy and horrible and do you guys recommend i get this phone or the Pixel XL?
Hi i suggest you to go for oneplus 5 as it has snapdragon 835 in almost hakf price of the Samsung s8.
Yes there are issues with display (jelly effect ) but they will solve in software update and not every device has this issue you can return and ask for replacement if issue occurs in your phone.
Overall its upto you.

I'd advise you to wait for the Pixel 2 to released, and then to take the Pixel XL.. It has a better camera, and imo it looks way better. However you won't have customization options of the 3T. The screen is fine on the 3T though so don't worry about that if you choose it.
Really it's up to you, both of them are better than 95% of other smartphones.

I bought a 3t just yesterday, new for 350 EU and it's a fantastic peace of hardware, coming from a OnePlus2...
It's still worth a buy, community support is incredible hardware itself is pretty much future-proof - I'm really happy!

The screen on the 3T is excellent.
Very deep blacks.
You should go for the OP5...you can find it on some warehouses in a better price that oneplus offers.....

Text doesn't look fuzzy to me at all. Honestly, folks that complain about pentile (or this display in particular) must have much better eyes than I do. Everything looks sharp and vibrant to me.
The OP5 looks to be an incremental improvement, at best. And that jelly effect just looks annoying. If you can get the 3T for a significantly lower price (and I would think so) it's a much better deal.

A software update won't fix your UPSIDE down display ....MATE screen on 3T is perfect... Colors are absolutely spot on...rich deep Black's. After using QHD since the note 4 I can tell you the difference was almost not there !

Yeah i never had an issues with the screen at all. You can get 3t for less than $400 right now (used) or if you have bigger budget, go with the pixel 2. LG G6 has an awesome deal on ebay right now, $400 brand new.

Want to switch from Sony Xperia Z2
Is it worth buying OP3T now(in my country it costs about 400EUROS and Oneplus5 like 500)?
Other people recommend Huawei Honor 9.
Idk what should I do, my budget is about 350-400 (MAX 450euros) .
Opinions?

Don't go for the Honor 9 (unless it's priced significantly lower). If you are going for the Honor 9, just go for the 3T, it packs a greater punch (the storage is significantly faster inside the 3T)
The 3T is still worth it even at this times. It's blistering fast and the battery life is superb (for me). Honestly the performance difference between the 5 and 3T is not by a huge margin anyway.

but do you think it`s still worth it? Will 3T even support Android O?
Btw, what`s your setup: Kernel / ROM
Are there any problems you face on daily basis?
I want to switch so badly, but I dont want to waste my money.

He just said it's still worth it (those exact words) in the post you quoted. Why are you asking again?
Plus, the Honor 9 is not going to have anywhere near the development and community here as the 3T does. The 3T section is the most active forum on XDA, last I heard.

Yes.
https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3-3t-android-o/
https://www.xda-developers.com/the-oneplus-33t-will-have-android-o-by-the-end-of-2017/
Plus, the dev community here will almost certainly keep the 3T going long after "O", even if Oneplus doesn't.
