Hello everyone.
I have unlocked D3 on stock .906 rom, rooted, and I am on gsm network. My previous phone (and first experience with android was an HTC desire). Like with the old one, also with d3, I really felt abandoned and forgotten from Motorola when they truncated the upgrade path to ICS . Well enough with old stuff, now the question. What I really liked of desire was the possibility to turn on/off data connectivity at will, no apn mods were required, just tap that widget from htc, and woila data connection is on or off, how many times you want, regardless of the time between each tap. With d3, at first there is no moto widget to perform this action, easy fix though. I am using widgetsoid to turn on/off data. My experience with this is as follows:
Data turn off is immediate (understandable) - correct behavior.
Data turn on behaves differently - if it tap the widget shortly after turning data off, then it'll work as it should - data comes back on. If some time has passed, data won't re-enable, and I need to enter in the *#*#info#*#* menu and then it'll start to try to reconnect, resulting in data on after a few moments.
I also use the battery and data manager and chose one of the three moto/vzw predefined settings and I noticed that, while data connection automatically goes off at 10pm, it will not automatically come up at 8am (as per settings predefined in the rule). So, I need to go into info menu, at which point it'll start to reconnect. Also, I need to mention that if I wake the phone say at 10:30pm generally it'll reconnect automatically, which is fine.
Also, I tried to make a screenshot using drocap2, because while not connected, in info menu it displays "disconnected at 12:59 am", which isn't the case at all because I turned off data maybe at 8pm or at some other time, but unfortunately it started to connect and the message is not there anymore.
Has anyone experienced such behavior in the past? Did you manage to fix it? If yes how?
Many thanks,

I would suggest using the Airplane mode. That should turn off all radio and when you turn it back in it restarts the radio or data

Disable that battery mode thingy. Just use performance mode. It seems to be causing your problems.
@Jason Roach
Enabling/disabling airplane mode does not seem very practical.
@Mr.Obvious
I'll try the suggestion and post back.
Seriously though, why did Motorola not implement something resembling htc's data on/off widget?
Thanks to both of you

Hi there,
I tried your suggestion Mr. Obvious, but to have data back on i still need to go in info menu (wait there a couple of seconds).
Well, i guess there is no way to make it better using stock rom. Based on your experience, how are other roms in regard to this?
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, Before i explaing the issue, I'll give you a little background. I was one of the first buyers of OP. Loved it. Then came OP2, hated it. Jumped the Ship to try out Lumia 950XL and now came back to OP3 couple of days back. Thus, I'm kinda confused between how quick toggles are supposed to work in Android as I got used to Windows.
Whenever i tap on Data toggle to turn on or Turn off data, it takes me to data usage screen and what is even more confusing is that it shows the data of other sim i have installed (which i have not set for data). If i disable the second sim, even then pressing the data toggle takes me to data usage screen but shows only wifi usage. Only way i can enable or diable the data is by going manually into settings>cellular networks.
I'm curious if this is normal for OxygenOS? I dont think this is how it is supposed to work as this defeats the purpose of having a quick toggle. Is this normal or i have some bug in my device. If it is some bug, then please lemme know how to fix it without completely wiping the phone as i really dont wanna do that as my phone is set up perfectly and I'm loving it.
Cheers! and Thanks!
P.S: Sorry for jumping ship , Lumia's camera was too tempting.
Hmmm that's strange, I only use one SIM, but my data toggle works flawlessly, but when you have the data toggle on one of the upper 2 quick toggles you have a drop down menue with the arrow below, if you tap that it gives you a quick view for data usage. On the top right when that drop down menue is open you can toggle data on/off.
Data toggle works fine here also. Takes a few seconds for the icon to change though.
No problems here as well but same boat as others with only having 1 sim installed.
Me too having the exact same issue
And even hard reset doesn't fix it
What about when you long-press the data toggle?
aftr hrd reset i got this prblm only once...and its totally working fine now...bt there are still some bugs in oxygen os
I started having the same issue too.... It started today! The toggle was working totally fine.... But yesterday, I dropped my phone and it started acting weirder than normal (it started acting weird a long time back but now, this happened!!!) I thought it was because I dropped it but I guess that's not the case! If someone has a solution, please do share....
Several months ago out of nowhere the radio stopped working on my XT1921-3. When the phone initially booted up, I could see it get a 4g signal and then switch to no signal. I checked the sim and did some other troubleshooting but in the end I had to wipe the phone and flash the stock firmware to get service back.
This has happened several times since then so I've been trying different things to fix it. Last time it happened, I restored a backup of my data partition and that fixed the problem. So I have limited the issue to something data related and not system or firmware.
I don't know if it's a rogue app causing the issue or what. I guess that will be my next set of tests.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I have a XT1921-3 and i have experienced my data cut out (for 5-10 minutes) (or slow to some ungodly low speed that isn't good for anything..) several times over the last two months however my bar and in settings it says im still connected to LTE and in a few signal apps it says im online but there's clearly no data or if so it's dang sure not anything close to LTE. Sorry if this lil paragraph is worded a little different. Been working that OT.
Edit
Added: I just toggle airplane mode and reboot but sometimes that doesn't even work. It's like when it's out it's out and signal isn't reading true.

Thanks for your post. I managed to update the E5 Factory Restoration thread with the latest firmware package for the E5 Play and I have not experienced the problem since. You might want to head over to that thread and download the latest. It might fix your issue as well.
So I had this before and eventually sorted it..... But now I'm back to delayed notifications a lot of the time if screen is off, usually until I open the app in the case of WhatsApp for example.
I have:
Gone through all notification settings, even enabling "priority notifications" app by app,
ensured data always on is enabled
Even used adb to disable power genie and yet I out my phone down for half hour, come back open WhatsApp bingbingbing messages come through.
I'm on 9.0.0.236
Anyone actually found a working solution to this.
Did read someone was told by Huawei to do "reset all settings" but that's seems a tad counterproductive aswell as a pain in the ass

So got it down to being a issue with closing apps in sleep as WiFi stays on, but after phone is left for 15 minutes or so got mate to WhatsApp me and only one tick until I opened app.
How can this be possible when I've gone through every conceivable power saving/battery/app control option I can find or mentioned online?
Must be a fix for this, can't just be every Huawei owner accepts no notifications lol

Reset all settings should bring the notifications back. Not factory reset just the settings! Worked for me!
Tried that, it continued, however at work today while in mobile data didn't seem to have any issues, may have been as I have a widget running for music all day that has a one hour timeout before it closes. Maybe keeps device from deep sleep?
As usual Huawei forums no help at all. Lots of people with a problem and Huawei dancing round the issue

Try to enable/disable Wi-Fi+, it works good for me, but I saw people complaining about it.
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi -> 3 dots at the top right corner -> Settings -> Wi-Fi+
System power saving settings:
Settings -> Battery -> App launch -> Disable "Automatic management" for apps you like.
Settings -> Battery -> More battery settings -> Enable "Stay connected when device sleeps".
Data saving settings:
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Data usage -> Data Saver -> Disable
Already done all those and more apart from wifi+ that's not an issue. It seems to be on both WiFi and mobile data. Possibly been a bit better now but hard to say if it's it's not just down to using a music app at work that's always awake, maybe preventing deep sleep.
Or just hauwei firmware takes a few days to learn regular apps to allow notifications in some super hidden menu as I have only recently forced a downgrade and rebrand of my device. Remember it did this first time I updated to pie but seemed to sort itself out

finally found someone that have same issues for 6 months!
access the *#*#426#*#* click the dots advance, click events
if there is Close err:28 things then we have same problem in wifi only,
and in advance there should be Heartbeat waiting ack alarm with minus number bug
Im on Mate 20 Pro, done anything only GCM Fix Notification on Google Play Store can fix this temporary, or switch mobile network
or just Buy another phone
This issue hasn't shown its face since 9.0.0.168 for me. Even then it was only for a few days after update. It was over zealous power and data management underneath emui

Is anyone having issues with their notifications not coming through, or coming in super late, or having the same notifications coming up over and over? I'm expecting all three problems, it seems to be happening with every app for me except for calls and text. I factory reset the phone but that didn't fix the issue. If I restart the phone, then all my notifications that haven't physically gone into the app to check start pouring in. No idea what could be causing the issue and it's really starting to piss me off. I have already sent my phone in for repair cause my LTE data stopped working for no reason. I don't think both issues are related as I do have LTE data after they replaced some part.
Would appreciate if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks.

I had notification delays with gmail app, fixed it by turning off battery optimization for this specific app.

Some people may have battery saver on and this may cause late notifications. Also check in settings "auto sync", under accounts. I did have some late notifications issue with Gmail app and do know battery optimization usually is the cause, but it went away in couple of days after I bought the phone.
Thank you for the suggestions. I ended up turning on high performance mode. Let's see if that helps.

How'd this work out for you? This phone is horrible for notifications for me. It constantly doesn't send them until I actually pick up my phone, then suddenly I'll get 5-10 notifications at once. I've turned off EVERY bit of power saving that I can find. I only run in high performance mode 24/7 with all adaptive battery, power optimization, auto app sleep, etc turned completely off. I've also tried disabling all power saving and sleep in the specific app pages as well. I need to be more observant, but I think this is mostly with push notifications (ex, my 2FA app for work) rather than apps with timers to check for updates occasionally. I also have an issue with my wifi disconnecting while the screen is off sometimes which is highly annoying since my home presence detection is based on my phone being on the wifi, though last time it started doing that a reboot fixed it.
Unfortunately, a search proves that this is a widespread issue. At this point I've pretty much given up on this phone and am looking to replace it as soon as I find a suitable alternative. I'm just curious if it's a Samsung issue or a Pie issue that will occur on other phones as well.

Seems to be a general issue with android. Mine have gotten better recently. In addition to turning off battery optimization for any apps I want notifications for, i have done the following:
1. Wiped cache (under settings/app/storage), then rebooted into recovery mode and wiped the cache partition.
2. Gone into the setting and made sure apps I want notifications for are allowed to run in the background (settings/apps/select app for notifications/battery).
3. Allowed to run in background when on mobile networks (settings/apps/select app/mobile data/Allow Background Data Usage.
4. Gone into messages/settings/more settings/push message/changed toggle from "Prompt" to "Always".
Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll give some of those a try. I also got a VZW update with the May security patch among other things right after I posted that, so we'll see if that helps at all also.

It's gotten better for me. I enabled high performance mode but I had to keep going in and checking it a couple days after still even though it was enabled. Been a couple weeks now and the notifications I was missing before all seems to be coming in fine now. Time will tell though I guess lol
Are you also having trouble with apps updating? That was another problem I was having where I'd see apps needing to update, I'd start "update all" one app would download and then get stuck at 99% and it would just stay like that for about 40mins and prevent the other apps from updating. Then finally when it would finish the next one would do the same. It would literally take hours upon hours for 12 apps to update when it should only take a couple mins. That issue seems to be fixed for me now too.
