How to build rom on Mac for MI5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I would like to know if someone can explain how to build a rom for MI5 on MAC, if it's not possible, i have a windows VPS, thanks.

You can use VirtualBox(VB) to install Ubuntu. VirtualBox is a VM software and what it does is to emulate a computer inside your computer. This allows you to run your MacOS while having VB on to run Ubuntu. From there on, you can use the guide given in Cyanogen mod wiki to build the ROM for Mi 5!

[Q] How can I run CM ROM in a virtual machine?

I found there is some kind of method make Android running on VM in PC: http://www.android-x86.org/
However it seems not a CM ROM, i wish i can test run the nightly CM ROM below I really flash it into my N1, can I do this?
Perhaps you can load it in the SDK emulator.
Didn't try it myself, though.
The Android-x86 project is for running Android natively on your computer, not emulated.
If you want to run CM in the SDK emulator you have to set up a build environment, download the source and compile it for the emulator using the 'lunch' command.

Anyone can answer me:X1 boot Andriod usb connect to PC no driver???

Anyone can answer me:X1 boot Andriod usb connect to PC no driver??? I use Andriod PC display need install XDA dirvers? Anyone can share me this driver.tks.
As far as I know the drivers will still be in git tree for the kernel, and they were turned off in builds for some reason around May 2010.
Even if they were removed you can recover them by going to the correct time in git and checking out that branch.
http://gitorious.org/+kovsky-linux-msm/linux-on-qualcomm-s-msm/linux-msm-xdadev or a number of other branches.
I assume you want a USB TCP/IP network, this was working under Linux to Linux. I did not succeed in Linux to Android, but that does not say it cannot be done.
use Linux/Ubuntu OS - No Problems with USB ))) or u can run VMWare and run port of linux and usb will work too
You must use the SDK-Windows Drivers..
You can install from the Android SDK (you must select-> USB DRIVER).

ubuntu 12.10 android tools (ADB and fastboot)

Hello, first post ever so sorry if Ihave posted this in the wrong section.
I just thought I would share this info with fellow Ubuntu users who may be interested in unlocking and rooting their devices.
You can download and install ADB and Fastboot in ubuntu 12.10 through the synaptic package manager (which itself can be installed from the software center).
The package is known as Android-tools. This will ensure you have the tools to carry out ADB and fastboot requests. I think the android SDK will still be required though so still download that.
This should work on linux mint and other ubuntu based distros.
Also, you can download these repos on other versions of ubuntu too using the terminal.
Just follow http://www.webupd8.org/2012/08/install-adb-and-fastboot-android-tools.html guide.
No offense to "Web Upd8", but adding some random blog's PPA to your system to do something that Google has made completely trivial on Ubuntu is pretty dumb to say the least

s-off? on windows 7

A wanna do s-off but i went to see how but the thing is that theres only for linux and i dont have linux just windows 7 any link ofbthe toolkit for windows 7???????
If you follow the s off thread he tells you how to do it without installing the Linux distribution. Just download it and boot to it. It will give you the option to test. Run all of the tools and yo are done. Windows won't be touched at all
I still have the Win 64-bit files from '12 stored on my PC. I can email them to you if needed. PM me your email addy :good:

1) Install SDK and setup adb
simple script to setup sdk and adb on linux, tested on old version linux mint as im using Ubuntu 14.04 now http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459945
just in case the udev rules is not available on above link. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/258-udev-rules-for-any-device-no-more-starting-adb-with-sudo/
2) Add below code inside android 99rules
#Xiaomi
SUBSYSTEM==usb, SYSFS{idVendor}==2717, MODE=0368
3) Voila, u can now use mtp into linux
4) other than that, u can use ftp. It is built inside the mi file explorer and connect it using Filezilla or simply type the ftp host into web broser.
