Yesterday I flashed Resurrection Remix and since the device wwas encrypted I decrypted using Op3t toolkit and wiped all my data and I installed the zip again and I noticed this now.
My system is using more than 29gb space and I have only 25gb left in my device. I have nothing in my internal memory except 2 screenshots and barely 20 apps installed I need a solution for this asap. Thanks
I never encrypted my device. That **** is not good

The toolkit probably uses fastboot to format the data and fastboot can't do it properly for some reason. Wipe data with stock recovery or twrp
I think you might have made a backup, check that as well, and as stated clear cache

i have the same issue what i did is after changing my file system from f2fs to ext 4 in recovery MTP i copied files of 10GB the backup i have taken previously after i flashed the rom and booted my that data was not visible to my but when i checked the storage it has taken 10GB of space under other in storage settings
Same issue
I encountered the same issue after decryption. Worse thing was that my original internal memory was reduced from 119 GB to 24 GB. Once I fixed the problem by flashing the full stock rom and it turns out that recovery was not replaced by the stock one and the storage is surprisingly decrypted as well. Currently, I tried the same method to get the missing storage back but it doesn't work any more since the cryption was forcingly done by the latest stock rom. I guess there's somewhere stuck in the mounting period or the format is recorgnized as system partion.

So I know when flashing roms sometimes it will erase the SD Card, Okay well I forgot about 5 pictures I had taken and was like oh well, so when I went to go load all my stuff back on it, My SD card is empty but it says 6GB is being used, which is about right what it was but there are NO files on it... Where are the files??? Using Root explorer and show hidden stuff on the computer still dont know where the files are at....
did you flash a 4.2 rom?
I wanted to try out cm mod. Then went back to stock 4.2.2 I don't care if I lost some stuff. But its Stikl there but I can't see it.

i know that your suppose to wipe before flashing a 4.2 rom.
the file system is in a different spot so it leaves the old system there.
I do not know how to get back the free space beside formating and reflashing the system.

Ive already formatted system and it still shows stuff stored there.
Not to sure then.
Only had the phone for a week so haven't gotten use to the file system yet.
I just know it's set up different from other phones.
I had the same experience also... what I did was I went to CWM recovery and format /sdcard and I did wipe user data/factory reset...
This was happened when I flashed 4.2.2 onto 4.1.2 without wiping anything....
transfer everything from your sdcard to your computer then format sdcard in cwm and transfer your files back and they should be in the right place
Ive got the same problem. Stock rom never rooted, "OTHER" in storage taking up 6.7GB.
I have looked at clearing junk files with CLEAN MASTER app but my cache files only takes up 33mb.
Did anyone look what "OTHER" in storage was when they got their brand new phone? Does Sense 5 really takes up over 6GB?
EDIT:
A few people confirmed that the phone have about 26GB of space out of 32GB brand new, so yeah Sense 5 DOES take about 6GB of space!

Hello, these days I ran into strange problem. Internal storage says there is only 2 GB available from 16(yes I know its not exactly 16gb), but I don't have that much files. I ran cleaner apps, used sdcard analyzer in Es explorer and nothing shows that can use this space. You can see on screenshot that only 26% is held by Android folder but lower you can see that 10gb is used. So what is taking this space? Also there is no hidden files or folders and my PC shows same. I'm on succulents CM 11 latest build.

A 16GB device has a little under 13GB left to share between /data and internal sdcard. The internal sdcard is actually emulated and is a part of /data (/data/media), that is why it is shared. And I'm not sure about succulent's CM11, but I know bokbokan's CM11 also mounts his ART cache in /data, taking more space.
You can see by your graphic there is just under 13GB there. Much of it is used by /data and probably the ART cache. Look in /data with your root file manager to see what is taking space.

Thank you for your answer! It seems in data folder there was files from internal SD when I was on stock! I wondered why cm installing wiped it, but it seems that it just saved it /data/media

A data wipe with CWM does not wipe media files in /data/media. You must go to mounts and storage and format 'data and datamedia' for that to happen.
And CM11 puts media files in /data/media/0 so your file manager would not see the old files.

I'm running Kitkat 4.4.2 from insertcoin. The Storage space is 25.4gb, and I'm using 16gb of it, but my phone says I'm out of free space. I tried Clearing out all my data from my SD, and it still said my SD had about 10gb in use. I'm thinking maybe its some system data, but what part of the OS could be taking up 10gb?
Also, I've got some sort of audio dump going on under /Data/Audio that I have to keep deleting through android commander. how can I turn off the auto audio dump?
You have any nandroid backups? Each of those, including data, will be around 2-3 gb. In TWRP they are in a folder in the TWRP directory. Don't know about CWM.

This happened to me once. The way I dealt with it was I transferred all of my important files (e.g. pics, vids, nands, etc) to my computer, then formatted the internal storage and installed a fresh ROM.
and its still okay? I tried that about a week ago, but I didn't flash a fresh rom, I just reformatted the storage partition and I gained about 6gb, which has now disappeared.
Try a few storage apps from Playstore.. I can't recommend something but there are a few which will get you a good idea.
reinstalling the ROM seems to have fixed my problem, but now I've got a new problem. I guess I should make a new thread for it though. thanks for the help!

try downloading diskusage from the playstore. it should give you a pretty accurate view of your completely usage and where its coming from and then you can go about clearing space up
Hello!
I recently got a Oneplus 3T and I installed resurrection remix (7.1.1) on it, I first formatted the system to get rid of the encryption and I didn't really pay attention to my storage. Today I went into twrp to take a backup of everything and I noticed that I only have 11gb free whilst I barely have anything installed...
After taking a closer look in windows explorer it shows that my device only has 25gb of storage space instead of 64gb...
How do I fix this?
EDIT: the OS shows that I have 54gb of total space but that I'm using 47.14gb and most of it is used by "System" @ 30gb... wtf?
Thanks!
Format your data via TWRP. Should fix your issue with 30GB of storage.
Having 47GB of free storage after first boot is perfectly normal.
had this issue on op3, format data (not wipe) in twrp fixed it

I have a question about other files in storage. I received this phone from my brother. It was formatted from the recovery (data wiped). I installed my account and all is right except for an equipped space of more than 1GB in other files. I remember when my brother was using the phone, other files was 0 Kb. I have no backup stored to the cloud or whatsoever. I did several factory reset with no luck. It pisses me off that 1 GB is being used without any reason keeping in mind it's only 25 GB out of the box storage for 32 GB rom.
Any ideas how to get rid of the other files.?

On my MIUI 9.5 "other files" consist of:
- dalvik cache (not the app cache)
- hidden twrp backup files
- archive files like zip, tgz, etc.
The definition of "other files" may depend on MIUI version and perhaps your brother was using a different one, hence 0kb for him and 1GB for you, while there was no real difference.
To find exact storage use you need an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
However it will reveal many more details if you root your phone.
Incidentally, my Dalvik cache is 0.9GB and one can not get rid of it as it is an essential part of Android OS.
