Hey guys, I don't know how much available storage I had prior, however it was easily a GB free at LEAST as I put most of my media on my external sd-card.
I went to make a cwm backup before I flashed the latest CM nightly but stupidly forgot to tell it to backup to external storage.
Lo and behold, the backup failed and when I rebooted the phone I got notifications telling me that my storage is very low.
http://imgur.com/zjMiyGc - this screenshot shows that despite there being around 1/4 memory free (or otherwise uncategorised), I only have 229MB available.
I've looked in the clockworkmod folder and there's nothing there, but I can't figure out where all this memory has been taken up from?!
Is there any way I can locate the files/folder taking up the most storage on my device or has anyone encountered this issue before and know a fix?
I can't even download any new apps atm as they won't be installed due to low memory
are you using 4.2?
clear unused backup data from recovery.
also, disk usage from Play
Hey guys,
So I flashed CM 12.1 finally and its AWESOME Really loving it! Big ups to Quarx and contributors.
I do however have an issue with my internal storage now. I keep checking and its freaking me out actually. I only see 3.9GB space usable all in all. I have the 8GB model and before it used to show me 8GB. But since doing Lollipop update I can only see 4GB.
I ran various tools like Disk Usage etc and it still only shows 3.9GB.
I connected via terminal and ran 'df' and I see all the normal partitions, but then /data and /mnt/shell/emulated are both the same stats showing 3.9G total size.
Can anyone confirm this is correct?
If not, what can I do to fix it? I found this howto for a Nexus, is it a similar procedure?
Even under Settings -> Storage I only see 3.87GB total space, is that right? After moving almost all my apps to the SD Card the internal storage is almost full already. WTF.
Thank you for the assistance
Yesterday I flashed Resurrection Remix and since the device wwas encrypted I decrypted using Op3t toolkit and wiped all my data and I installed the zip again and I noticed this now.
My system is using more than 29gb space and I have only 25gb left in my device. I have nothing in my internal memory except 2 screenshots and barely 20 apps installed I need a solution for this asap. Thanks
I never encrypted my device. That **** is not good

The toolkit probably uses fastboot to format the data and fastboot can't do it properly for some reason. Wipe data with stock recovery or twrp
I think you might have made a backup, check that as well, and as stated clear cache

i have the same issue what i did is after changing my file system from f2fs to ext 4 in recovery MTP i copied files of 10GB the backup i have taken previously after i flashed the rom and booted my that data was not visible to my but when i checked the storage it has taken 10GB of space under other in storage settings
Same issue
I encountered the same issue after decryption. Worse thing was that my original internal memory was reduced from 119 GB to 24 GB. Once I fixed the problem by flashing the full stock rom and it turns out that recovery was not replaced by the stock one and the storage is surprisingly decrypted as well. Currently, I tried the same method to get the missing storage back but it doesn't work any more since the cryption was forcingly done by the latest stock rom. I guess there's somewhere stuck in the mounting period or the format is recorgnized as system partion.

I'ts a summary of media filetypes
Other means, app configurations, game saves, dabatases, documents and other files that cannot be categorized as
apps (apk)
images (png, jpg, jpeg, tiff, bmp, raw, gif...)
videos (mkv, mp4, avi, mpeg, 3gp...)
audio (flac, ogg, mp3, wma...)
other contains, basically, things suck as .back .sql, pfc, doc, xml, and other unrecognized filetypes.
I recently installed linux deploy and while it was making an image linux deploy got closed. now i have nearly 4 gigs of space missing and have done a full twrp wipe to no avail. the space is just gone... please help as with 16g internal storage 4 gigs is all i had to spare.
update after wiping with twrp and it still showing space was wrong i restored my backup anyways and after booting the space returned as it should be. still unclear as to why twrp would reflect the wrong space available after a complete wipe.
Hey all
I've successfully installed Lineage OS but the only thing I can't get to work, or find information on, is my storage. As a full wipe was necessary, it is 90% empty but when I try to download eg F Droid APK, the browser closes and taking screenshots is impossible (some examples). Right now I am using an external sd card to install some basic apps (this does work).
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Solved: formatted internal storage through TWRP
