Hi there,
I've just got back my first tablet ever; it has been used from my mum the past two years.
Now, it looks really old and I would like to give him a new life.
What do you think ? can it be still used ? With a different ROM can be a bit faster ? Which ROM do you suggest me to install ???
THANKS a lot in advance
Cheers
Steve

Hello to everyone, I've recently started searching to buy a new phone and I saw Galaxy S and Galaxy S Plus. I saw that GS+ is 40% faster than the original one but I also heard that the GS consumes less RAM and that the GS+ lags a lot more.
Also, I saw that 9000 has a wider community and support and that it even has more payable games from gameloft than the 9001!
And so, I'm a bit confused, that's why I'm asking for advice. Thanks a lot in advance!
hi,
it really depends on whether we get ics ported for sgs+ or not.
if you just compare the hardware of both sgs+ will easily win, but the community is much bigger for sgs (we neither have any finished cm7 port nor ics, but both are maybe coming).
Thanks for your answer! I also happened to see people say that GS+ lags more than the original GS (both on GB) and people saying that it looks like samsung doesn't give much support to it, unlike the GS. That's what has been making me wonder.
If you are not planning to upgrade from stock rom(wich I dont advise) you should go with the SGS+.
Like annqx said there is a much better communitx for SGS, there are a lot more roms for it.
Sorry for my late reply, I had internet issues the whole week, anyway, I see, maybe then I'm going for the SGS+, since it's newer, I believe it will get more popular in the future. Thanks a lot for your answers!
Not sure it will get that much more popular. Remember galaxy s was top end phone at one point. Now replaced by s2, and soon s3. Just my opinion but could be wrong.

Well having used both phones and still using S version i would personaly say S as you already know about modding obviously being part of this community .
S+ is better on paper and thats what it only is , unless some drastic change in modding com and suddenly many devs appear for S+...
S with CM7/9 is just to good of phone ...
I'm satisfied with my S Plus. In my opinion it is a good fast phone
And not to forget, GPS is better in the S Plus, many people had problems on that with the SGS.
I9000 is better than I9001 because it have better dev support, better gpu and cpu .

My POV:
Even though one might think there's not much going on, the device is performing rather well and these few greatly elaborated roms are what is push it a step further.
What else?
If in need of much more dedi features, then buy newest EUR 700 models and enjoy those instead. This is a high mid range device with great bucks for bangs ratio and that's it. Everything else is a Sci-Fi IMO.
Edit: @ OP - just to mention that search is your friend...
Cheers,
Fevv
Hi guys
I wanted to flash one of these two cfw on my girlfriends phone.
The thing is that I have limited time to try out both firmwares and I want to know which one you guys prefer.
Tried out both, but honestly I dont know which one to take
Both run pretty smooth in my opinion, but the rom wont be updated on her phone anymore.
Another side question if you dont mind: Is there a good way to have a better network connection for interneting or even improved battery usage??
Dont know if I should flash the Goldenkernel, since im afraid that its unstable or even unefficient.
Let me know about your experience!
Thanks in advice
Dmod V5
dmod v5 is definetly better than benz. and i tried both of them. benz is laggy.
dmod has cool features from s4. internet works great on it(if you have a good wireless router, or data plan).
battery life is very good. i got 4 days and 12 hours on it and still got 24% battery left. and i didn't use power saving.
tryed all roms for s3 mini. even cyanogenmod 10 (which is beta).
this is the best custom rom for sure.

Theres no which is better or which is not, its based on personal preference, do you want the S4 feel or just stock samsung with Benz status bar which i dont like that much so i went back to enox instead
Dont flash the golden kernel, its kinda buggy and still in early development, i recommend flashing CrossBreeder which i dont really know if it helps with lags

Possible with only phone calls, messaging and low usage of wifi/3G
Thank you for your answers!
Flashing dmod5 then,
love you guys :victory:
These topics are pointless. Ask in the ROM thread, don't create a new one just to ask a question...
Just give them both a try :good:
Hi All,
My mom (age 66) wants to give smartphones a go. Instead of buying her a new one, I want her to try out the SIII Mini my wife has retired last week (she's the happy new owner of a Mlais MX Base).
Back when she first got the SIII Mini, I installed a near stock rom, which had most of the Samsung apps removed. Now that the phone might get a new lease of life, a new rom is in order.
What would you guys recommend for a 66-year old smartphone noob(mainly calls/sms/whatsapp, taking pictures, maybe check email and a little surfing)?
It doesn't have to be the latest our greatest. Something close to stock android and as bug free as possible.
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was looking for more of a stock android experience, something without a heavy our cluttered skin.
I went ahead and gave Omnirom 4.4.4 a go. looks like it might do the trick.
Hi everyone!
I'm posting in regards to whether or not there is a ROM out there which is better than what the Nokia 2 already comes with? My Dad has recently bought this phone (his model is a TA-1007) and I am amazed at how much space the OS takes up and how sluggish it feels. There must be something else out there which can do a better job?
Thanks in advance!
Sadly there is not even a custom recovery for this phone right now. :/
