why lower dpi makes icon smaller? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello guys, this is maybe a noob question but..
for what I know dpi is dots per inch so more dpi means more space in the screen, when the dpi is lowered the icons and overall looks smaller, doesn't this is the opositte to what it means?
so less dpi means less "pixels" to draw something?

I'd love to have this too, but the status bar was designed with the very low density of 169.3333 in mind, so it unfortunately grows and gets cut off when the density is raised.
I don't use the Nook reader, but the same goes for it.
Until we get custom ROMs, the only way I can imagine changing the status bar is ripping open the framework-res.apk and resizing the icons. I haven't tried this though.
I'd love to hear others' ideas on this too.

Any way to increase font and icon size in ICS tablet mode?!

I like ics tablet displays...but am sight challenged and icons and fonts are just way too small. I used to have a font tab in 'display' but is now gone in ics.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
On AOSP, atleast, under the Display and Interface submenu there is an option of font size. I haven't seen any thing for icon size. There was this launcher I used which had an option for icon size as well. Sorry, I just can't remember what launcher it was

Galaxy Mini Icons

Hello there, I've been having this dislike for small icons (but can't afford a new phone now) and wondered if it's there a way to trick our minis to think they are mdpi devices. All I've found is adw's color border that creates an illusion of icons being bigger, but it's just an added border. Any suggestions?
just increase the density with the help of LCD density app

Nova launcher on note 8 help

Okay so as you can see I have a dock and then my homescreen columns are 12x12
How do I lower the gap between the vertical icons? My margin height is set to none, I've tried setting it to small and still the same
Any idea? Screen shot attached
I've also tried making the icons bigger and trying without a dock and there's still a large gap between icons
I use a 7 column x 10 rows, and the gap between rows is somewhat like yours, I think there is no way to modify it, I tried with the normalize icon switch, but made no diference, I tried changing dpi in developer section, same thing

Changing to Lineage N didn't helped.
I'm searching for this too! Changing the dpi and font size are not alternatives
I found a solution, the .eu dev version has this problem, but the stable ROMs has better sized icons.
And second, fiddle with the DPI in dev options, the DPI is not linear, like, changing from 381 to 382 has big difference!
I use 382
