A.R.I.S.E not working on 4.0.1 - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi guys. does anybody of you forced rom to work with A.R.I.S.E? Everything is fine, viper4 android showing drivers are installed etc but there is no processing....

I believe in order for viper to run correctly you need permissive

Normally you need permissive but Google and you can get it working in enforced, which is the way you should do it.
More importantly, audio changes to android have changed the location of audio config files, rendering a lot of these mods inoperable. They may install, but they won't function.
The good news is you can get viper working with a bit of effort, but don't bother with Arise, it modifies files that just aren't used (and aren't even in the same format anymore)

I'm on 4.0.1 and using viper4arise perfectly....
Uninstall any viper apk ..And afterwords flash
Arise sounds systems Deuteronomy 2.3.3 on twrp...

You don't have to install Dolby atmos with it.. just the zip from arise...After you install the zip..Reboot to system..And you will have a viper4arise icon on your app drawer..

These zips do not modify the correct files on Nougat- so although they install, they can't work. Here's how you get Viper to start processing (although for me it still misses some apps)
Use root explorer. Browse to /system/etc/audio_policy_configuration.xml
Edit this file. Find the XML element named "deep buffer" and remove it.
Save, reboot.
Now Viper should start processing when an app that needs it runs. For me, this seems to be everything except Google Play Music, which is disappointing.
Without this modification, Viper just sits there, not processing.
One thing this zip IS great for, is that it installs the viper drivers, something which is difficult to do in Nougat (you get an I/O error even when rooted.)

Right. Here's the XML elements to delete. The deep buffer one gets it all working with YouTube. I'm trying deleting the one named Raw now to see if any other apps come to life.
Back up the file before you modify, and remember to restore it's permissions if you restore it. First time I made this modification, it completely broke as I deleted something I shouldn't.

Thanks I will test it very soon, it is weird behaviour with this mod. Im pretty sure everything was fine until I started playing with magisk and even now on supersu mod is not working.
I've tried few ways:
Dirty flash 4.0.1
FLash supersu
Flash v2.3.3
Flash atmos, everything was installed but didn't work.
Next way
Dirty flash 4.0.1
FLash supersu
Flash v2.4
boot up and it was working but sound was broken, I had to delete some files (guys from A.R.I.S.E thread pointed which one should be deleted)
Flash atmos,
boot up and find uot that viper don't have drivers... Installed them and got constant battery draining wakelock from mediaserver;/
Now I'm trying your method.
If it fail, I will restore 3.5.4 nandroid and wait for better V4 oos...
After deleting I have no sound at all :E Ok restoring nandroid and coming back to MM. Maybe there will be a day when oneplus release kernel sources and arise fix it...

Found another working method from miui forum which even works without magisk.
This Works without any flaws
Well, found a method which is working great
actually it was advised for rn3 pro. But proved working on all miui 8 versions.

These methods are good but they works by editing system partition. I'm on Global 7.1.12 and using magisk i can apply OTA updates without loosing ViperFX, root and all other modules installed!
I dont See any need to use magisk. Download Viper x version you Like, go to twrp and install zip. GG

Uninstall the viper apk..And flash viper4arise zip on twrp..
Thanks, but I am looking for a systemless install.
This has been working and others report it's working (on other devices though).
I wonder if anyone has tried it on a 3T with Nougat.
So is it possible to get it working systemless? Thanks!
You can use viper4rarise with magisk. Safetynet not triggered. But the problem is selinux status. Its always enforcing for some reason. But yi can change it from terminals using setenforce 0 command. Then it works. You need to do it every time after reboot. I tried to make selinux permissive. Bug it triggers safetynet. So im swt with running everytime post reboot

Systemless user here. If you're interested, I've created a Magisk module of ViPER4Android 2.3.4.0, which in my opinion is the best version as it had drivers of different quality you could choose. My Magisk module runs on Super High Quality.
And yes, I'm running it on Nougat/OOS 4.0.2. If you want it on Open Beta, send me the following files:

Not a problem. Let me know how it goes.
I installed your module. How do I know if it's working properly? I tried changing settings while using google play music but didn't hear any changes. Driver status is enabled but processing shows "no".
Edit: tried listening a podcast and viperfx seems to be working. I can hear changes in sound. How can I get google play music also working?

I forgot about that. At the moment I cannot get streaming via Play Music working with ViPER's FX Compatible Mode set as normal. Only locally stored music played in Play Music will make ViPER work with it.
However, setting ViPER's FX Compatible Mode to Compatible will make it work with both local and streaming music in Google Play Music, along with other audio apps.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Viper works here for everything but Google play music. The files you're modifying don't include the XML files, from experience in Nougat just modifying the conf files didn't make any difference, but I may be wrong (Certainly sounds so). What changes did you make may I ask? Removing deep buffer and raw only makes any difference for me if I modify the XML files in Nougat.

Hello folks, I'm so happy of OOS Open Betas that I'd take the plunge and return back to full stock (now I have unlocked bootloader and TWRP).
So, after having made a full backup on USB OTG, I'd go through these steps:
1) boot into fastboot mode and flash stock recovery via adb flash recovery recovery_op3.img
2) flash Open Beta 18 with adb sideload OnePlus3Oxygen_16
3) lock bootloader with fastboot oem lock
Is it correct? Is it enough?
Thanks!
Edit: nevermind, found a nice step-by-step guide.

which files working for twrp and root?
Blu_Spark TWRP and Magisk beta v13.0 (96f8efc)
those are the files that gives you recovery and root.
Can not run normally ViperFX on beta 18
Worth Magisk Beta 13
On version ViperFX 2.5.0.5 everything is fine but does not handle the sound
Other versions of the same thing, or writes that the driver is not installed, or simply in the driver statistics writes problems
Advise how to get ViperFX to work, but at the same time that would work in the magic of SafetiNet
need OTA GUYS
When do you expect Android 7.1.2? Maybe next beta? Actually Idk if there's much difference between 7.1.1 and 7.1.2?
Is safety net passing for anyone with the latest magisk beta? It isn't for me. I've tried pretty much everything.
Twrp blu-spark 3.1.1.37 by eng syk.
Full wipe, clean flash. Everything works for me. Magisk v.12 works fine. I don't use safety net.
After flashing the rom, i reboot to recovery. Recovery, OK. After seting the rom, apps, i flash Magisk v.12 in recovery. OnePlus recovery shows up. I reflash 3.1.1.37 & it's ok.
Thank You.

Is it possible to install any app systemlessly - OmniSwitch in particular?

Hello,
I'm a regular Magisk user from some time and for me it's main advantage is that all modification survive system updates. As both my devices (SGS 5 and Nexus 7 2013) are running LineageOS 14.1 updates are very frequent (usually every week) so it saves me lot of headaches. Unfortunately there is one app I'm using on regular basis, but it have no Magisk module.
So here is my question - is it possible to install any app systemlessly? If it is then please help me with that. I'm sure many user could be interested in doing that. App in question is OmniSwitch - fantastic app switcher with many features. App support thread is here and I'm using 7.1.1+ version. I think that App Systemizer module might be helpful but not sure of that and don't want to brick my devices. And OmniSwitch is a system app already...
Thanks in advance for every support.

I'm kinda new to doing magisk modules, so message if this doesn't work. (My RR ROM already has OmniSwitch, so I can't test if it works or not)
This module should do what you're asking, it will install the OmniSwitch (7.1.1+ ) as System priv app.
But it's probably easier (and just as safe) if you use App Systemizer module.
Thanks. Will try it after work. Do you think that App Systemizer should work?

If the app needs only to be installed as System (either System app or System Priv-app), then it should work fine, I use App Systemizer for a few apps and never had any problems neither with the apps nor the module itself.
Just installed your zip and it seems to work perfectly fine. Will check if it'll survive OTA update in a cuple of days. Thank you very much for that.

If your ROM supports Addon.d it should survive, Magisk automatically handles this readding the modules after the OTA if the ROM has support for addon.d

AFAIK the only way to uninstall would be to dirty flash your Lineage OS ROM (reinstall Lineage without wiping your data. Just wipe your Cache and Dalvik Cache). This should keep all your apps and settings intact but remove V4A and ARISE and reinstall the stock drivers that come with Lineage. In my case I also had to reinstall Magisk.
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 PM ----------
This doesn't work for me on LineageOS for MicroG 16 (Google Pixel XL 'marlin'). ARISE crashes, and V4A tells me I need to reinstall the driver every time I open it. After reinstalling, it tells me I need to reboot. After I reboot, I tells me I need to install the driver again and this loop just continues forever.
Unluckily here doesn't work and crash all the time.
I guess no way to uninstall, right?
I am on latest havoc os for mido...
Thank you

Dirty flash of Rom should remove the mod. But don't you have any remnants of other mods left? Something like that caused crashes to me some time ago. Additionally, I had to remove Audio Modification Library from Magisk to get this work.

Nope, no any other mods installed didn't try anything else before. Probably havoc has dirac inside, but I don't use it because I don't like and I can't remove it I guess.
Tried with and without aml on magisk but it's almost the same. Dolby sometimes works sometimes crash, viper for arise doesn't work at all.
Thanks for replying

One more thing I had to do was setting SELinux permissive. As last resort, but it worked for me
I gave a try V4Android 2.7 also, but it is even more unstable for me, unfortunately...

Ah I see. Hmm I don't wanna set selinux to permissive... I prefer to stay without audio mod.
BTW thank you
thanks for sharing ?
I installed but dolby and viper not showing.
Working bad in pixel experience.
Flashed it on nitrogen os pie but didn't see any app in app drawer...
Do you have uninstaller file for this dolby atmos?
Hey guys,
Is there a way to install this mod on a pixel xl - marlin (any ROM crdroid, EvolutionX, stock)?
The installation in the TWRP is carried out without errors. The apps are available in the system. But viper app says "driver not installed".
