Nexus 6 still relevant? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently, I have the iphone 6s +. I'm not a fan. I've used androids for years and I loved the phones-even had the nexus 6. The phone was huge and thats what I loved about it. I went to the N6P and I hated everything about it to a point where I mistakenly switched to iphone for a few months.
I'm going back to android and want to know, is the N6 still a good phone? I plan rooting the **** out of it and using PureNexus. I know I would love the phone, but is it still a viable option? Should I look elsewhere? I need a big phone, I want plain vanilla android and only have 450.00 to play with.
If not, some choices would be very helpful.

Yes it is still relevant. I plan on running the phone a lot longer as long as it doesn't crap out on me. You've got:
-Great 6 inch 1440p screen with minimal bezel
-Dual front facing speakers (wait til you hear how they sound if you use A.R.I.S.E audio)
-Snapdragon 805 (with 3gb of RAM to boot) still holds it's own and doesn't overheat (at least for me) like many of the Snapdragon 810 phones. Performance is further improved with custom kernels and if you want to you can tweak all kinds of stuff like screen color profiles, wake gestures, governor, CPU min/max frequencies, screen off frequencies, hotplugs, governors, I/O schedulers, etc...
-Because it's a Nexus device it has one of the best development communities around. The current selection of ROMs, kernels, themes, mods, tweaks, etc... is great. While it's not a guarantee, I would expect to see developers release builds of future Android versions even though Nougat is the last official update. Take a look at the Nexus 4 XDA subforum for example. The last official Android version was Lollipop, but the development community has kept on with providing both Marshmallow and Nougat based builds.
-Camera is okay but not great by any means (although it looks cool when you use it as a flashlight because of the dual flash!)

Hi there,
Yes it's a legendary device and only the Mi Mix in my opinion comes close to the wow factor of the Nexus 6. I will hold on to it until it eventually dies on me, I have an iPhone 6S and a Samsung S7 but personally love to flaunt the Nexus 6 when I'm out with friends and family. It definitely is a head-turner and one word that describes the Nexus 6 best is 'unique'.
Love,
Syed

It is an excellent device, I just got some barely used original batteries for it.
Its price has taken quite a slide and I doubt it can be beaten at all at this price/performance range.

I noticed something disturbing on the other threads

O2X Folks,
I noticed something disturbing and more than a little annoying.
It seems that because of the timing of the release of these devices, quite a number of forum posters are comparing the O2X to the SE Arc. Yes, the same SE Arc that runs on a later generation single-core snapdragon and runs 2.3.
Other than the relative timing of their releases to market, is there even an comparison between the two? It's apples-and-oranges all over.
I have BOTH devices and I can tell you now that the Arc is inferior to the O2X in many respects:
1. Dual core really means more. Whereas the stock O2X handily gets about 2,450 on Quadrant, the stock Arc barely gets to 1,300 under the same benchmark. Once you've got Paul O'Brien's ROM on the O2X, you can clock 3,100 -- even the SGSII couldn't clock that score.
2. Reality Display??!The so-called Reality Display on the Arc produces washed-out colors in daily use -- and this is true not just for my unit but the others I've seen. I never realized that reality could look that washed-out
3. Disk Space This never gets enough press and I'm starting to think SE bribed the so-called "professional" reviewers to ignore this: 512MB of disk space is never going to cut it these days. Two years ago, that would have been a monster deal. Today, it's just **meh**. The fact is, market app files are getting bigger and bigger and even with Apps to SD, it's just too limiting when you're really just playing with the 270MB that the Arc has out of the box.
4. Design and Build Quality Sure, the Arc features an attractive and unique design but it's just too... SHINY. After a while, it starts to look tacky with the chrome bezel, whereas the O2X has a statelier, more refined and restrained design with its matte accents and Wenger-toned back. What's more, the materials used on the O2X are obviously of a higher quality -- the Arc's bezel is obviously some cheap plastic that will wear away after a while -- I've had SE Phones dating back to the P900 days and their bezels/sides wore out after a while. I am willing to bet the Arc will be no different. SE is just not very good when it comes to these things -- or it does this on purpose to get you to buy a new one form them. It's also occurred to me that the decision to implement the arc design probably contributed to the lack of storage; a "fatter" chassis would have allowed for more storage modules to be compressed into the body.
Now, the main complaints against the O2X are lags and the quality control that led to some units having bleeding back-lighting. Legitimate ones, to be sure but luckily, I didn't experience the latter and Paul's ROM fixed the former for the most part.
I bring up the custom ROMs because it's annoying that people are posting on XDA complaining about STOCK ROMs when everyone bloody well knows that XDA is the go-to place for custom ROMs. The level of inanity is just seriously grating. Why even bother to come here if you're just going to rant about Stock ROM issues? Do it on the Android forums!
If any Arc/SE Fanboys are reading this: please just stop comparing the two devices. It doesn't work. As a fellow Arc owner, I know you want to justify your purchase but just because it got released right around the same time as the O2X does not mean that they're meant to be compared. I use my Arc mainly as a spare.
If you want to rightly compare the O2X to some phones, this is a much better template: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/15/htc-sensation-versus-the-rest-of-the-dual-core-world-smartphone/
Hey, I am not trying to start a flame war, especially since where I live the Arc isn't even an option. I am just curious as to the difference the dual core appears to make for daily use rather than quadrant scores. My next phone is going to be a dual core phone so I am not trying to start a bickering about single vs dual core. Thanks

for now im still having se arc in my mind. the software is just so good, also love the skin of SE. a great camera too, its a fast and fluid phone. i like high scores in quadrant (btw 1,3- 1,5k is still a stock rom, so dont be comparing stock to non stock your self), but who gives a crap about them if you can run anything lag-free. of it just looks so plasticky, and too light for me too.
my only gripes on the O2x would be the battery screen bleed and shutdowns that every1 is crying about but probably still gonna try my luck and get it

I don't own an arc or a 2x but looking into buying a new phone.
Why shouldn't they be compared?
They are both the latest android phones on the market and both are similarly priced with similar dimensions. People looking into buying a new android phone will be comparing these two and other phones to see what works best for them. I say keep the comparisons coming.

though they almost have the same pricing,
we can safely say that O2x is more future proof( having a dual core ).
I like SE arc's design but that's about it. overall the O2x is a lot better device. even the camera on the SE arc is not that impressive.
i never thought about LG or SE as one of my future phones but both companies are high on the list now since they offer phones with higher end specs and the liberty to flash new roms without much hassle.
I haven't touched an arc yet but the optimus 2x feels very nice and is a joy to play with, custom (read cm) software will only boost my enjoyment of this phone more and more.
Have been an HTC fan since the hero and i do like their buildquality but every time i try a different brand i'm smacked in the face with some of the details HTC always forgets (screen, speaker, batterylife).
Ofc (at least for now imo) LG has some major issues software wise but hopefully they will be fixed; I'd love to read this message back in a few months and just lauch at it while my LG is purring with CM goodness; this same CM goodness is brightly for SE, less for HTC and (unknown?) for Samsung. The lack of an easy way to root and flash custom roms is why I sweared never to buy a motorola phone ever again after the milestone.
Ofc this will be different for other people, but people are different

The new Nexus4 is out

AWESOME! Gf is getting me the Nexus 10 for Xmas, and I'll buy myself a Nexus 4 around the same time! 2560x1600 10" display, here I come! :highfive:
Never thought that the price would be so unbeatable! Maaan, why did I buy a Galaxy Nexus?
Oh for the love of god! What is with the lack of expandable storage in Nexus devices? I mean, this looks like the perfect device for me, but that lack of an SD Card is a real killer. 16 gig maximum storage, and no option to upgrade? What is this, an iPhone?

Yeah, I know. My 32GB SD card has only 10GB free.
I only ever use around 6gb I clean up my stuff a lot.

No offence but having a Nexus 7 now, I think it would be a bit boring to have two AOSP devices. Especially coming from sense I used to have AOSP before my N7, but now I only use sense on my IncS

Same here, I used an 8GB for about half a year before upgrading to 16GB. Never had a problem with space, I just delete apps I don't use and clean out junk folders. I also backup important stuff on my SD card, and then format it every couple of months to keep it clean.

While you do have a good point, I've never liked Sense or other skins anyways. Given the choice, I'd always choose an AOSP ROM over a Sense ROM. Pretty much the only reason I'm using a Sense ROM is because it's stable. Sense ROM's are fun to play around with for something new, but I quickly get bored of the limited options available in Rosie and uninstall it and replace it with Apex Launcher. Even tweaked Sense bores me, plus Sense is pretty heavy and I always feel like AOSP is noticeably smoother.
Plus, with a Nexus, I wouldn't have to put up with half-assed, hacked together AOSP ROM's. No offense to any devs! It's just stupid that some things related to a device (drivers, company proprietary libs etc) are never available and have to be hacked to work. I hate that, it's very annoying. With a Nexus, I don't have to worry about that. (I think?...)

I have a 16gb N7 and 16gb card in my phone, they get filled with backups of roms lol
I use dropbox and I have a USB OTG cable for all the haevy stuff like movies
I completely agree with your statement on AOSP roms and their stability. While some roms are quite good and fast, none can match a proper AOSP device, like a nexus. None. My N7 is super fast and I underclock it to 1.15GHz to save battery
This is the reason I might be going Sony next: their roms are quite AOSP-like and their source is similar to AOSP, no big changes like Samsung and HTC
Most AOSP and other JB roms for other devices (I mean custom roms) do not have proper project butter working, eg. CM10 on the exynos devices because there is no proper source for drivers and stuff. Although this might change with the Nexus 10

I used to have a crapload of backups as well, but I realized it would be more efficient to simply keep one backup of my favorite ROM at the time. I try to keep that one backup as current as possible. I gotta get an external HDD to store my music and movies as well
Yes we did have some great devs working on AOSP for our device, and they did a damn great job IMO. It's just the company that limits how good AOSP ROM's are due to not releasing sources for certain components, forcing the community to resort to hacks and other trickery to get it working properly. Damn it must be nice to be able to actually underclock without creating a laggy device. I feel like it's absolutely necessary to OC the Inc S to 1.3 GHz on AOSP, and 1.4-5GHz on Sense, in order to get a decent experience. Not that big of a deal, seeing as there were quite a few phones released with the same SoC as ours, but ran at 1.4GHz stock so the SoC can obviously handle the OC, luckily.
I'm strongly considering Sony as well, if they release a device by Xmas that has at least an S4 Pro SoC, preferably a true Cortex A-15 based SoC. They seem to be one of few companies that really do open up their phones completely for the community, and that's pretty much the #1 most important decision that will decide what phone I get.

Wow I keep mine at 1024MHz all the time. I overclock it to 1.4 sometimes when I play heavy games but that is it. I don't think my N7 has ever seen past 1.4GHz, when I was testing one of faux123's kernels
I think Sony might wait until MWC next year in Jan or whenever it is, because they just released new phones. But I don't need top performance on my phone anymore, I use it for calling, texting, xda-ing and a bit of internet. I play games and do more processor-intensive things on my Nexus 7

Ihad considered this but in England LG does not have the best reputation so I tend to stay away. Also, the HOX+ is meant to have one of the better cameras around and I don't know how is feel if the N4 cam isn't as good. I've also became a fan of sense .....
However, I am deffo getting the N10 device. I'll probs get it after Xmas when the initial rush has gone. Then I can read my magazines, books and general browsing easyier than on a phone.

I worry that these Nexus devices may start a president with regards to lack of removable storage. I understand Google's thinking behind using the Cloud as a portable storage medium, but my 500mb a month contract means downloading/streaming anything over data is pretty much out of the question. And living in the sticks means my data connection is flaky most of the time anyway. Until the price of truly 'unlimited' data plans drops considerably, and until coverage becomes better for non-built up areas, cloud storage is pointless for me.
I also notice there's no support for LTE on this device, but given the price that's hardly an issue.
Think I'll be waiting for the 32gb model to.
For me 16GB is totally enough. I had 8GB for a year and it was a bit too less but now I have 16GB on my GNex and I never get it even close to full So no Cloud stuff for me

I hate it when there's noticeable lag, and I've always been picky about the performance of all my technological devices lol. I'm actually running my CPU at 1.5GHz right now on smartassv2. I still get good battery life despite the big OC, and I haven't noticed any instability at all. Also helps that I UV'ed 50mv I've always preferred performance over battery life. I'd rather have a snappy device that dies an hour quicker, than a slightly laggy device that lasts longer.
Yea, that's what I was thinking. Unfortunate. But I really want that Nexus 4, especially at that price! I'll be honest, I love google right now. They're pushing the boundaries(in a good way) on pricing for top end devices, and I f**king love it!

Mine can't handle any UV at 1.4GHz I noticed that while playing shadowgun, it kept freezing and not responding to anything but a battery pull
The only other thing that might keep me away is no 4G Hopefully the camera is a beast
Yeah the S4 quad looks really good. I can get the same performance with my N7 running at those speeds, but no way near the efficiency. I am also interested in the audio chip, because the S4 one is supposed to be really good, compared to the Tegra 3 one.

I still notice lag even at 1.5GHz sometimes. Annoying. Hmm that's strange, even at 1.5GHz I don't have any instabilities with UV. I really want to upgrade, to me the Inc S is showing its age internally. Especially in RAM, 2GB of RAM will be heaven. Still in love with the gorgeous color saturation in the screen though!
Meh, 4G isn't to big a deal for me. I have it available in Whitehorse, but HSPA+ is good enough for when I don't have wifi. I just can't resist the price, and I'm thinking about going on pay-as-you-go instead of the ass-rapingly expensive contracts. I practically never call anyone (who does these days?) so I only need data.
The S4 Pro's GPU especially looks very promising. Much better than the Mali 400 in the Exynos 4 series, according to early reports. Plus it's as close as I'll get to a Cortex A15 cpu That's great news, I was hoping the N4 would have a decent audio chip.
Hehe, let's all conspire to take over the N4 forums. All Inc S user's at once abandon this device, and move full force into the N4 forums! :silly::victory: Seriously though, the more people that come from this great community to the N4 forums, the better. :good:

That's not fair Oh well, you use 1.5 more than I do I think its processor is showing its age. Some things I am used to using my N7 for, and the IncS is THAT much slower at doing things. But on Venom, everything is super smooth Same with your rom actually, although I used the ultra smooth rosie (I am too on Venom)
I am thinking about getting off a contract too, and buying the phone outright. But, when you add both up it would probably be cheaper still to go on a plan here, for maybe $50 a month or whatever they will give the N4 away free on
Yes, the GPU is a monster, apparently it smashes the Tegra 3 which has a massive GPU, super powered. The Tegra 3 is soo powerful, even at the underclocked speeds I have it at now, I can't actually imagine what you could do with more power at this time.
Don't abandon this device because I am staying here until May next year!

Worthy Successor for sgs+?

Hey all
I'm looking for a replacement for my phone as I'm frustrated by it. I have done some research and the phones which I'm leaning towards are the Nexus 4, Optimus G & Droid DNA. (I don't live in the States but I'm going there on holiday now, so I think the DNA is out unless an international variant is coming out soon) I have a maximum budget of $500.
Thanks I really appreciate your advice.

Those are great devices.
I would add SGS3 also to the list.
Galaxy Nexus is good too.
SGS2,for example, is still good choice if you want cheaper.
You need to ask yourself some questions like : What will the new phone allow me to do that I can't do now? Will I play graphic intense games that require quad core?
I asked myself these questions and more after every new phone that was released after the origonal SGSI. I didn't upgrade until the Note 2 came out. There was no need as far as I was concerned. My passion is photo and photo retouching!
What do you do most with your phone? It may be worth saving up for something you won't be disappointed with after two months.
Thanks for the replies
Well I manly use my phone for socializing, media and my main means of using the Internet. I occasionally play games and I'm very much a power user.
^^ I thought about the sgs3 and while it's not as powerful as the Optimus G it is significantly cheaper, but then it starts to fall in the Nexus' price range which gives more bang for the buck imho. As for the others I think the Nexus 4 also out performs them.

Why are u frustated, I love my SGS+, with SmoothieICS or SmoothieJB ROM it is fastest ever !!!
It just is so unreliable. It freezes everyday at least twice if not more and it so so laggy all the time Our phone also has extremely little dev support. I have run quite a few roms (Cranium back in the day, Moonrom, Ivendors and Acro's CM9.) and kernels (Cranium 2ghz, Vitality, Skyhigh and CastangaIT) on my phone heck I have even tried numerous scripts (Thunderbolt, Adrenaline, V6 and geeky engine (lol)) but still it always suffers from the above.
tl;dr I just want a working Android phone

So I bring this icrap with me home with my nexus 5 let's take a few seconds here to discuss pricing msrp
IPhone 5s MSRP : ~$500 baseline
Google nexus 5 MSRP: $350 baseline
What the baseline is its the lowest capacity of storage available.
Build quality I would say that though the iPhone 5c was more the pricy msrp the nexus 5 does stand out with its soft touch tone back and ceramic power and volume rocker buttons
OS iOS vs Android
Having both it seems iOS just doesn't seem right.. The 5c stuffers some lag doing basic tasks where ad nexus 5 is solid performance throughout the entire system.
IOS is simpler on some levels however have you tried putting your own custom ringtone on iOS its a mess check it out
http://m.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-make-ringtones-for-iphone/
The nexus 5 and android simply allows me to download a third party app to trim it then and there and set it or just go on google play long press the song and boom set as ringtone so android is easier on some levels than iOS fair enough give one take one.
Camera : I would say nexus 5 is better but its just preference on the HDR+ which I love.
Battery life; sorry but I give this to apple as the amp hours are smaller on the iPhone than the nexus 5 and it still somehow gets through the day better than the nexus 5 (this doesn't mean you can't improve it though) custom kernals under clocking etc.
Cellular radio performance; sorry giving this to apple hands down the iPhone 5c beats the nexus 5 by almost having no service in room on nexus 5 or 1 bar of LTE on iPhone. Granted the radio is optimized and then google has not yet have a chance to play around.
Overall I'm switching my Sims back and forward the T-Mobile chat reps hate me for switching so much times per day (micro Sim to nano Sim) but overall my head is leaning towards the nexus 5

I soon as I read that I guessed this would be biased towards the N5. If you're gonna compare at least put them both on a level playing ground.
I will say that IOS's supposed speed/smoothness advantage is really overblown. I've spent enough time using iOS 7 on the iPhone 5S to get a good feel for the OS and the phone, and honestly, it feels slow next to my N5. I also don't understand why so many people are content to use a phone with such a tiny screen. Different strokes, I guess.

Or they have never tried anything else and think android is laggy and buggy and reboots all the time. Its all in the iKoolaid
I'm no apple fan but there's no way the nexus 5s camera is better than the iPhone's although I noticed you did qualify what you said with reference to HDR+. I've found that over a period of time the iPhones camera will give consistently better results. It really annoys me but it seems to be the way it is.

They aren't equal though. It was compared to a 5c.

I love my iPad air, but I could never go to Apple for all my devices. I love Android too much. Otherwise, I personally feel that both have their pros and cons and it's up to the user to decide what's important to them.

I always have to laugh when someone tries to make an argument about Android being laggy. Maybe in 2011. It's no longer a valid argument.

Agreed. I just updated my iPad mini to the retina one and was expecting to be blown away by its speed and fluidity. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed. It's fast, don't get me wrong, but the 2013 N7 feels more responsive to me even though it has only an S4 pro in it. Also, the iPad is quite laggy at times. Another big thing is stability- all the iOS fanboys argue about is how stable iOS is compared to Android, yet my experience has been the exact opposite. With my old 4s, my old 5, and my iPad I get constant app crashes and occasional UI freezes. Far more than on Android. The difference is that Android lets you know if something force closes whereas iOS tries to hide it. I still think iOS and iDevices in general are great products and have their merits, but Android has come a looooong way since its birth and there really is no comparison anymore. Android > iOS in pretty much all fronts.

Better yet, lets not compare at all. Various threads doing this and they are already too many in numbers

I love the iOS's vast library of apps and sleek phone/tablet designs, but that's about it. I can not use a 4-inch screen. It literally hurts my eyes. I honestly wish that they made a 6 inch Nexus phone, because I love big screens. And like others have said, Android has come a very long way in terms of stability, support, and smoothness. But most people still think of those crappy Droid phones when they hear Android. Droid was a good name, but ultimately too close to "Android", so now people get them mixed up.
The Apple tax is just too much. I won't pay close to 100% more just for a logo and some aluminum.

IOS runs better on bad hardware, but Android is pretty smooth if you have a mobile/pad with good hardware.
Yeah I'll agree with you on a few things but not all. Price (32gb 5s is $749, 32gb N5 is $399). Build quality on the 5S (only iPhone I had) is great...way better than the Nexus 5. Camera is much better on the N5 with HDR+. Battery life is better on the 5S, no idea why. Apple customer service is miles ahead of LG's CS.
The major reason why I returned the 5S (I've been using android since the beginning of time and wanted to try the dark side out ) is because it was SO SLOW. Everything lagged and stuttered and crashed about 3 times a day. I have now lost all respect for iOS users who say Android crashes and lags. What are they comparing it to, some Alcatel phone?

No, this used to be right. But with iOS 7 finally having the features that Android has (some), it lags a LOT on a CPU (A7) that supposedly beats the S800.

Some phone running Gingerbread most likely because that's all people know and it's cemented into their minds.

Even gingerbread didn't lag as much as ios7 on my Captivate. ios7 is truly hopeless.
That's one opinion I guess.
2 Points don't make sense. You can't just give a win away by saying the iPhone wins battery life with less amps and still makes it thru the day. The iPhone is also 4" vs 4.95" screen. <720P screen vs 1080P etc.
The key point is to compare if either phone can get thru the same day doing the same things. Unfortunately out of the box the Nexus 5 does more things. G+, Gmail, GDrive they're all set to stayed sync'd out of the box. The iPhone out of the box does less background data movement.
Radio reception... how can you compare via the bars? They don't mean anything, they're 'feel good' bars. Can you make a call? how fast is the LTE etc... would determine which one wins. From many reviews online and looking at dbi comparisons with devices in hands there's no clear winner.
The Camera, even tho I own an N5 I'd have to give to the iPhone. The color accuracy is better on the iphone, the software stabilization is good enough. Overall it's also easier for the novice to use.
I came from an iPhone to the N5 and was hoping Apple would do something more with iOS7 other than make it look different and work slower. Android for my use has surpassed Apple in functionality. Though I will say for the things iOS does it does it really well and Android can still learn from it. Eg. The calendar the stock one sucks compared to Apple's stock calendar.
That all said the iPhone isn't worth the premium over the $350-$400 for the N5.

Older versions of iOS run better on bad hardware. I don't think a lot of iPhone 4 owners were thrilled with their iOS 7 update.

on phones running gingerbread, gingerbread is often the best option... it depends on hardware, jb has more hardware acceleration, but gingerbread is lighter on ram. as smooth as jb can feel on the home screen i think the overall performance os better with gb on many single core phones which is why cm7 was supported while cm9 was already out. still everyone has to have the latest and greatest and often convince themselves the new stuff is better when it's sometimes not true..
as far as the feel, apple has animations that may be smooth but there is a noticeable wait. with ios7 its not only a wait but there is a choppyness that android phones might have shown 2-3 years ago. the "long press" on apple also seems a bit longer. i really don't find apple phones to feel fast as much as they look smooth. just my opinion. don't get me wrong..i don't like the company but the device isn't that bad and as much as i hate the elitism of things that exist elsewhere but apple makes them proprietary and brands them for use on apple products only, they do make new tech easy and unintimidating to people that would never discover these things on a pc or android.
i prefer android but the android "ecosystem" is all over the place, some devices get updates, others don't. feature sets vary, build varies. there are literally thousands of devices and many gave people bad experiences. there are too many choices with android while there are no real choices with apple. you chose a color, storage size and 2 performance levels... the screen size doesn't change. the interface stays much the same. i actually prefer the old androids from a feature set point of view. i can do without a keyboard, actually i hate them, but a track ball make text navigations more precise and the menu button was useful. unfortunately people found it confusing (which says volumes about the intelligence of the general population) but i don't know how i went without 300+ ppi for all those years... a 5" screen is kinda big but with a 16:9 aspect ration a 4.2-4.7" screen would be the butter zone. with 16:10 4"-4.2" is good. apple needs to make a wider phone. and android manufacturers need to stop making so many damn phablets..

I think that people always compare these and say android is laggy because they have the latest iPhone and some cheap $49.99 android phone and are wondering why it's so bad. Obviously if you get a budget android phone it's not gonna be that good.....

The phone is rubbish with stock Samsung OS and software! Slow often glitchy, long waits for simple stuff like switching between apps or even going back to the home screen.
BUT - with a custom ROM this phone is potentially AWESOME. Lag is gone, battery life much better. I make my girlfriend jealous and she has an iPhone 5S, lol.
Slightly bigger screen than iPhone, much lighter, more sturdy, expandable memory, FM tuner, and with a custom ROM loads more features and better interface.
Some ROMs are not available for this phone but a lot are: Many available from maclaw.pl, I've tried CM11 but found Carbon (latest unofficial KitKat) has a few more options and some nice optimisations to maximise battery life without sacrificing performance at all.

Hey, thank you, i think i will stay with it, and what can you tell me about games?, is good enough?, thanks bye
With stock, framerates go slow sometimes - since going custom no probs at all. Play a lot of Real Steel World Robot Boxing, a 3D effects-heavy game, runs without a hitch. Screen quality good, graphics good.
I just got one yesterday as a replacement for my work phone. I was using an iPhone 4 on iOS 7. thdevicee mini is a about the same size, but I have the benefits of android, root, larger screen, and the Google kit Kat keyboard. compared to the outdated iPhone 4 it's a decent upgrade.
my personal line is a galaxy s4. the s3 mini doesn't compare, but given that the s4 is my primary device and the s3 mini is for work calls and email only it's pretty dang good.
its a good phone but we have only a few developers for custom roms
---------- Post added at 12:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 AM ----------
also we still dont have miui rom for example, wich almost every other phone already have one stable :/
custom ROM support, or lack thereof, doesn't make a phone good or bad...
if flashing ROMs is a priority, get a nexus as AOSP based ROMs on pretty much anything else sucks. any device with a Google Play Edition version and an unlocked boot loader will be a very close second.
I think the S3 Mini is a very nice phone but there are many other phones which has better performance and battery but they are not so cheap like the S3 Mini The Moto G is okay but the Gaming Performance is bad.. sry for my bad english
It's typical mid-range, with a decent custom ROM every day tasks are quick and the phone is very responsive. It'll gobble up casual games easily and some old intensive games but unsurprisingly you're not going to playing brand new high end games!
