There are several Wifi hot spots at home that my phone can connect to, and I want to use a specific SSIDx. I installed Wifi Connect for tasker. I created a profile to run "Configuration 'SSIDx'" through Wifi Connect when I'm near SSIDx. My phone can detect the SSID but doesn't connect to it automatically. What's the right way to do so in Wifi Connect?

Does anybody know why mi tilt doesn't connect to any wifi connection ?
What happens after you try to connect?
it connects to the wifi network, but non of the programs connect to the internet, for example IE says that "the page cannot be found, check the name an try again" and that's with any page.
Wifi no-connect with USB activesync turned on
With activesync via USB running, I see my WiFi is connected but cannot connect to IE pages. I think activesync creates its own network connection to the HTC. When I dosconnect the USB, everything is OK again...
it dosen't work without the activesync either
Do you get this error when connecting to ANY WiFi point, or just the one in your house/work/whatever?
I get the error when I try to connect to whatever with the wifi connection
Yeah I am having the same problem.
did you try setting your wifi power mode to best performance?
It's set to the best performance
and still noting
i have the same problem, but i discovered that works sometimes.... i dont know if its a Wireless N interference or something like that... i have a Wireless N at home, and i cant connect to any hotspot detected at home (more than 5), but when i go to a coffee store, there i connect smoothly.... its strange.... at home doesn't ask for a password when the router is set to WPA2 or WPA....
does anyone know why this happens ?
change radios
Install another radio. My stock tilt would not connect to any wifi. I tried another rom and then it worked without any issues whatsoever. Make sure you use full power setting.

Is your Wireless N running a mix of B/G/N? Or is it running N mode only?
If its the latter, the Kaiser can only connect to B/G mode.
Hi all.
When i'm activate the portable wi-fi spot and try's to connect through it on my home pc it dosen't work.
on the phone is says that it working and every thing is good but my pc writes ''Without Internet Access''
do i need to install something on my pc?
i really need this.
Thx.
Do you have internet access on your phone?
Did you try restarting the PC?
You don't need anything installed.
I'm connecting to Wi-Fi network my phone finds and turns on the portable hotspot,
i'm not connecting to my operator network.
this can be the problem?
You can't share WiFi over WiFi. It should have been pretty clear... You didn't put attention that when you turn on the hotspot, your WiFi doesn't show "ON" anymore?
Well, in any case, that's why you see no internet connection.
You can use USB hotspot instead.
Ohh yeee.. now it works
Thx a lot for the help and the new information
Due to the fact that our router is in the basement and we're located on the 2nd floor Wifi wasn't strong enough and we had to install a repeater on the 1st floor.
I have multiple Wifi devices and none had any issues with the repeater and the fact that I disabled to SSID broadcast.
Then I bought the Galaxy Tab... after some hours of trying different options I came to the conclusion that it's not a problem of the Galaxy Tab to connect to SSID off networks (at least when the name is like that xxxxx xxxxx), but it won't connect to the network if a repeater is repating the ssid off network.
Is there any known solution to this issue without turning ssid broadcast on?
All I can tell you is that. Repeaters cause alot of issues especially with SSID broadcast turned off. All I can suggest to you is that if you are using a custom ROM and you can connect to adhoc networks. You can always connect via adhoc to any device that is connected to the signal. There is a computer application that can turn you w7 computer to an AP. Connectify
I also have the problem of not being able to connect to my router with the SSID off, but very good with SSID on. Also cannot see adhoc networks at all.
I am currently on Overcome 1.4.6 which is otherwise giving me no problems what so ever.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hello,
I am using gueste rom with spica kernel, but I think it is independent of rom/kernel.
When I have internet on 3G on my o2x, I connect it to my laptop and use usbtethering. It works.
When I have internet on wifi on my o2x, I do the same thing but I don't have internet on my laptop.
Wireshark shows that my laptop send packet through my phone and I can ping my phone. But I can't ping website. However dns works (I can see dns packet). On my phone, internet works well.
I don't really know how does tethering work. Maybe it uses iptables/nat ? How can I have working tethering? Thank you.
What WiFi device is your phone connected to and why can't your laptop just connect direct to that? (I'm assuming the laptop has wifi). It's also possible to set your phone up as a WiFi Access Point, that would allow you to connect your laptop wirelessly. As I understand, however, if you use your phone as an Access Point, it won't be able to connect to the internet via WiFi - eg, you could be in field with good 3G, connect your laptop via WiFi to the phone and then surf via WiFi and out via the phone's 3G signal.
The author of Gueste does warn about using spica's "performance packs" for stability issues.

It is a public wifi emitted by a router. It is possible that the router blocks tethering?

I could, the reason is that my wifi signal is weak but at my door. It is just more convenient that my phone is near my door and connected to my laptop. Moreover, I'm studying networks and this issue arouses my curiosity

I know, the wifi hotspot works.
I have flashed V28G a few days ago and I found a small bug about wifi.
My home wifi has disabled the broadcast of SSID and I use the wifi provided in my university using 802.1x method.
When I turn on wifi on phone in school, although the SSID has been stored, the phone cannot automatically connect to that SSID.
I need to remove all my SSID stored and rescan the wifi network. After that, everything is normal.
Is there any workaround for this problem/bug?

Download and Install from Market WiFix manager using 3G, then change country code to where you live, then reboot .

Real fix for the problem with V28E&V28G is deleting every saved SSID from your wlan list and make them again.
That is caused by buggy google "recovery" about access points with V28E&V28G

Does anybode was another solution for that?
Is very anoying make this everytime we want to conect to a wlan with a special protection...
It should work normally after you once remove & reinstall all SSID:s from the list.
I just discovered that if I remove the SSID of WPA2 encryption, it can connect to SSID using 802.1x automatically!
So now I don't need to remove ALL SSID and them again.
