The issue in particular is that the Play Store on this ROM seems to think that I'm somewhere I am not. I am in NYC, USA yet when I attempt to find certain apps in the Play Store they won't show up. The two apps in particular are AMEX and Amazon Shopping.
Yes, I know I can probably find the APKs for them somewhere but that isn't the point. I want the Play Store to work the way it's supposed to. Here is what I've tried to remedy the problem:
- stuck a US sim card in the phone
-put location settings on
- signed in and out of Google account
- cleared data and cache in Play Store
- used spoof location app
- added another credit card to Google Wallet
- made sure my Google account is linked to US address
None of these things have worked for me. I have no idea what the problem is. Is the version of GAPPS that comes with the EU Rom not capable of showing US specific apps? Is there such a thing as a US Play Store APK? What exactly tells the Play Store where a user is located? I'm at my wit's end with this crap. It's the small things like this that infuriates me and makes me want to get rid of this phone.

This seems to be an isolated issue as others aren't facing it.
Since you already have TWRP on your phone now, just boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. To boot into recovery, open the Updater App> Click the three dots on the top right corner> Boot into Recovery
After you have wiped cache and dalvik, reboot and see if play store works fine.
If it doesn't resolve the issue, try re-flashing the ROM.
First perform a full-wipe in TWRP. For this, choose the Wipe option in TWRP and simply use the slider at the bottom. You don't need to select anything in the boxes above. It performs a full wipe by default.
Now, assuming you already have the ROM file on your phone storage, locate it and flash it. Make sure to Wipe cache\Dalvik cache after flashing is complete.
Don't forget to flash SuperSU after flashing the ROM for root.

I found a game that I really like and am willing to buy the full version. But I'm usually re-flashing my phone, so my stuff is almost always being deleted in the process. Are purchased Apps/Games recorded to one's google account, or am I out of luck if I re-flash?
edit: Crap, shoulda put this in Q & A...
Every app I have purchased shows up in the market, even after a wipe. All you have to do is sign in with the same google account.
Flash it and reinstall it. Google Market tracks your purchases. Just make sure you always use the same email account if you wipe so it can verify and allow you to do so without paying for it again.
Cool. That means I can even flash a different ROM and still keep my swag. Neat!
You can get an entirely different Android phone, sign in with the same account and still get all your purchased apps back.
To be more specific, your purchased apps will show up in 'My Downloads' whether you have installed them or not.
Hey all.
i recnetly flashed @hashcode's unofficial CM10 found here. I didn't like it enough to keep it, so i switched back to stock ICS using Safestrap v3.05. I go into the Play store today from my desktop to download something, and the item never pushes to my device. after checking my Play Store settings, i see that instead of "Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic" (or whatever), my device is listed as "Unnamed Device" instead of "Phil's Bionic" and the device type is "Verizon Motorola XT875."
Additionally, i check the play store on my phone, and i had several updates. i click to update them, but they just sit in the "downloading" section, but not actually downloading. I'm not sure where to go from here. i hope i haven't borked too much and have to restore from a backup, or if i have to "unlink" my account with google. i'm not even sure how i would go about doing that. Any advice?
Go into mange apps, find Google services framework and clear data, then find play store and clear data, reboot and try again. That has fixed my downloading issue in the past.
#unseen
do you know if this will fix the issue with pushing downloads from the desktop?
I know there have been a lot of topics on this, but nothing I've tried has worked. I contacted Google, but all they could come up with is that it's my ROM.
A few months ago during the $.25 sale I had purchased three apps with a $10. Google Play gift card that I had bought for that reason. I've upgraded my ROM a few times since then, and when I went to buy an app the other day, the transaction won't go through. It won't go through on my Touchpad or on play.google.com. I've since Googled it and tried the below:
Cleared Play Store cache, data
Cleared cache and data for any app that even had Google in the name ( for good measure ) and then rebooted
Uninstalled the Play Store entirely, installed version 3.5.15 and let it upgrade on its own
Flashed four different ROM's ( including the one that I was on when I originally purchased the apps ) and three different versions of gapps
It gives me a technical error when I try to purchase online, and gives me an "order could not be processed" error when I try to purchase on my tablet.
Is there anything that anyone's tried to make this work? I'll do a factory reset if I absolutely must, but I'd prefer not to.

Do you have this problem with other apps? Can you download free /paid apps from the market now? Try installing gapps. Make sure you get the version you need. ie: ics or jb.
Try the gapp fixer utility :

It might help.
Good luck.

I haven't tried any other paid apps. I can download free apps, just not paid apps.
I'll try the gapps fixer, though, and get back to you, thanks for the info.
[edit] Unfortunately, the gapps fixer didn't fix the issue.
Can you purchase apps through the google play store on a computers web browser and then push them to your Touchpad? If you can do it there then you know it's not a problem with your Touchpad but with your account instead, you can troubleshoot from there. The play store uses Google Wallet, so go there and check to make sure all your information is correct or try purchasing with a credit card instead of the gift card balance. You can always purchase an app with a credit card and then request a refund within, I think, 15 minutes.
Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.
Yesterday I updated to Oreo as the ZTE Axon M update service showed a new update available. On update Google Play would no longer launch and Play Services was not functioning. The Google Application services were pre-installed on the phone when purchased and shipped from AliExpress.
I figured I would reset the phone and on reset all Google functionality was removed.
I figured I would simply install the GAPPS services again and followed this thread:
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...-store-without-gapps-google-services-0176241/
However once everything installs and I launch the Play Store I get a white blank screen.
I would have expected to be prompted for the Google Account login screen and if I check Accounts from settings I can see that there is a Google Account listed but not configured and if I click it I am told to add the account from the relevant app. There is no other shortcut installed though other than Google Play Store which hangs as described previously.
I have tried various other ways to get this sorted out but the end result is the same, inability to add a google account and no way to launch the play store.
I considered YalpStore but its really not fit for purpose because anything that requires the Google Play Services framework will not run.
My phone is not rooted but it appears it does not need to be for GAPPS install functionality. I can see many threads that say this works without the need for rooting (and in any event there are no guides for rooting an Axon M).
My question is simply how do I the Google Play Store and Google Play Services to work on the ZTE Axon M with the Oreo update ? It is driving me nuts and I would never have proceeded with the update if I had realised it would simply be removed.
Same
I'm. Having the same problem I tryed everything
Me too please we want solution
Did you try the same package used for the Xiaomi devices? I have to play on that (it's the rev 2).

I tried, same issue crashing
I tried multiple methods too, but to no avail.
I do suspect a possibility. The previous time when i managed to get my gapps working when i first got the Chinese set, i had to disable the "Mi-Assistant" App as that was the one preventing my Google Play Services from Auto-Running even though it was set to allow. This time, I can not even see Google Play Services in the Auto-Run Manager and while i tried to force stop and disable the "Mi-Assistant" App, it does not allow me to disable.
I hope this info can help provide some leads to an expert who would be able to help us get back our GApps running again.
Thanks.
I do agree... meanwhile take a look here: https://code.tutsplus.com/articles/10-alternative-android-app-stores--cms-20999
good morning I found the application with the google play store inside the play store zte. After several attempts I managed to install a heavy game (1.3 GB) as ADERA disabling all the Chinese apps, keeping the display always active, I only downloaded via wi-fi. So I managed to download it without problems (I do not know which of these changes worked). the application has a triangular design with central red, the word Google followed by two Chinese characters
Hi, are you on the Android Oreo Update?

yes oreo 8.1 axon m 6 / 128gb. If there is the possibility I can post images of the app. One thing the app inside contains the play store but the apps that you download do not appear on the home of the device but within the app itself
Sounds like an emulator to me.. Would be great if you could provide the images of the app. Any small information helps.
Btw, to all, i did manage to download a GApps installer which seemed promising, cause at least it went into the login page for Google Account. But then the error of requesting to update "Google Play Services" popped up again and again and everything went down the drain again. Will try further and hopefully will have good news.
I'm new on the forum you have to explain to me how to post the images. thank you
Dears... did you see that in the ZTE Store?
Search for Google Play...

There is an application in the ZTE Market that installs a pseudo Google Play but it is sandboxed somehow and you have to launch this app to get access to your installs - feels very insecure to me - I just want a clean Google Play on the device
unfortunately for now it is the only solution I found. Otherwise you must use third-party app stores such as amazon, aptoide, etc.

I posted a link with a few of alternative stores (the best is to get the apk stand-alone ihmo) but if it is to follow that sandbox ways, as suggest, create a new "junky" account just to have it registered.
Any Update??!!
