Dear All,
I realise this isn't really a priority issue but I was wondering which of the ROMs currently available are compatible with Pokemon Go.
I personally can confirm that the official ROMs available on en.miui.com are compatible, but I believe that may be because I didn't need to unlock the bootloader to install them
Which brings me to my follow up question: If I unlock the bootloader, can I then re-lock it? How would I go about doing that?
Thanks!
Hello,
I think it is possible to relock it, so I didn't try it but I saw in another forum (xiaomi official, you can find the link below) a way to relock the Mi5 and I hope it is the same with Mix. You just enter in fastboot mod and type this command on your computer through fastboot "fastboot oem lock" and everything will go one. I don't know what will be happen but I advice you to not lock your bootloader with another rom running that an official.
Thank you, I hope I helped you.

Thanks! Having read through that page, it seems the problem is to relock with a custom BOOTLOADER, not a custom ROM.
In any case, I would appreciate it if people who are using custom ROMs try Pokemon Go and let me know the results
Hi,
I think it will work If you rom isn't rooted. I didn't try yet with my mi mix (Im running epic rom),but with my other phone I can't play since the famous update against rooted devices (I have cyanogenmod rooted).

The game check for the locked bootloader, unlocked and it wont run ... doesn't like rooted devices - due to the rampant cheating that went on via having access to gps and other file data.

Hello, I've just recieved a Xiaomi Mi8 phone but in this occasion it comes with unlocked bootloader by seller.
Some users say that in this case there's no way to lock BL, and in case of brick you won't be able to flash in EDL mode.
I'd like to know if there's a way to lock it and later unlock it with my own Xiaomi account ID, and leave phone like a brand new one from factory.
Thanks in advance.

( miui 10 Global Rom )I've see an option to on developer setting/ bootloader unlock/lock option in there u can bound or link ur mi account whit device to proceed to unlock whit mi flasher which i press it and received an notification .....now i was running rooted magick maybe that trigger something..... neither have try to see if is linked
Ez, just flash the phone with China Stable or China Developer ROM via Miflash , choose Clean and Lock, done
Choose clean and lock with any China miui ROM. ONLY CHINA ROM. Upgrade to a higher version only (Don't go from miui 10 to miui 9). Beware of this and you will avoid bricking your mi 8

Did you actually tested that? Or just a theory (I know that it has sense but pretty risky to try)
Thanks !
Thanks but I'll try after someone else has done it with success. I hope it works, maybe that way my Xiaomi ID could be linked to the phone.

It is a fact. The bricking only arise due to Xiaomi's implementation of a new policy, whereby they prevent relocking of a China variant of their phone when the global rom is installed. Your Mi 8 will only brick if it is not the global version but you flash global miui and try to lock. With that said however, I am not liable if you bricked your phone and you should indeed proceed modifying your phone with caution. All the best and feel free to ask if you have any questions!
PS. Since android oreo, Google has also implemented another policy which prevents rollback to older android versions. However, due to Xiaomi's (lack of) implementation of this, you can brick your phone when you downgrade for Miui 10 to Miui 9 for example. So always keep this in mind as it is a thing to watch out for now.
Thanks for the explanation, maybe there's a new Xiaomi policy trying to avoid selling phones for China market to other countries, that should be with Global versions.

Has anyone tried the procedure?
I want to know too. I think installing a Chinese version, you can block the bootloader. Then you unlock with your normal My Account, to avoid possible problems.
Some say that if you lock bootloader even with china ROM you'll get a brick. I'm not sure of that but I prefer to try when someone has done the procces with success.
One more problem are the 720h Xiaomi makes you wait for unlocking, sometimes more than 1000h. Very bad policy for old Mi Fans after years with Xiaomi devices.

read this. this guy did what he was supposed to do and ended up with a brick. dont relock your phone just because someone says so.
i am still looking for some one to explain why official way is better. the only case i found this to be true so far was if you manage to screw up and lock your chinese phone on global rom (or the other way around, same story). in that case, you are way better off because you can go to fastboot and unlock your phone, and after that it should boot. please share any info you have on this topic, but please also explain how and why. thanks
Thanks, then I'll keep it opened using Xiaomi.eu weekly ROM.

You'd have to flash stock rom via miflash tool to re-lock the bootloader.

Hi Guys!
I already searched on this forum and couldn't reach a conclusion.
Never had a Xiaomi device berefore. I bought a Mi9 transparent edition from China, It will arrive next week, but I would like to know:
Can I flash global ROM? It has Chinese ROM.
Can I flash Mi9 standard AOSP based ROMs?
Thanks.

Yes you can, since it is Chinese version it already has bootloader unlocked, so it's even easier to install whatever you want

Don't lock bootloader with global ROM or you will hard brick your device.

Ok, so can I really flash xiaomi.eu/ROS/Globe without any risk? I am afraid of bricking it, I don't think I have warranty support on my country since it is a chinese version phone and I saw that the it is almost unbrickable.

What connection fastboot have to global or CN ROM versions?
Hi, I have Xiaomi Mi 11 12.5.5.0(RKBEUVF), I would like to flash V13.0.4.0.SKBEUXM because I am not receiving updates on that operator ROM. My question is: can I lock bootloader afetr that or not? Can someone answer for sure? Did someone did it? I've read so many posts with confusing answers. I wolud apriciate answer form someone who did that. Thank you in advance.
If you want to flash a different ROM than the installed one, you must not close the bootloader under any circumstances. This inevitably leads to the brick!

false ! His rom is EUVF and He want to flash a EUXM rom. He must to unlock his bootloader, and he can relock it because it's the same region : EU . Personnaly , i bought my mi 11 with a EUOR rom and flash with a EUXM rom and relock it with no problem.

I actually agree with you. However, I was informed that closing the BL after flashing a different ROM than the one pre-installed leads to a brick. I keep my fingers crossed for pYdzin.

It's true with people who had a chinese mi 11 and lock it with a EU rom and vice versa. The most important thing is the region. If you have a EU mi 11, you Can relock it with all variant EU. EUXM, EUOR, EUVF ....

1. I have flashed 13.0.4.0.SKBEUXM and locked bootloader without any issues, thanks for the advice.
2. I have a copule of questions, did you flash 13.0.1.0 or 13.0.4.0? did you get those new cristilized wallpapers and new widgets? I did not, it looks like I am missing some MIUI 13 new features, so I am wondering if I should flas 13.0.1.0 first and upgrade to 13.0.4.0 thrugh OTA or fastboot update for 13.0.4.0 should include previous updates?
@pYdzin If you are looking new wallpapers, you have to change region for Switzerland. After that, you can find them in themes app. 13.0.4.0 include features from previous update.
