If you are here then it means that you've probably bricked your phone and you need some kind of help, which isn't available here in the forum. Its because of the fact that nobody uses this phone anymore. Hell, I changed from it more than 2.5 yrs ago. But, if you are still using it and need help then there is a very less chance that you are gonna find answer to your query here in this forum.
So, all you can do is, to Leave me a message here through PM and wait for my reply. I check XDA regularly (atleast once in two days) and will surely help you in case you need my help.

You mean how to boot into recovery?
I don't have this device from like 2 years now, so I don't exactly remember. But you should start with pressing Power + Vol. Up + Vol. Down, all together, to get into droidboot, which I suppose is Asus'es custom fastboot.

[Q] Few questions

Okay so, since I'm sort of new, I wanted to ask a few questions:
1. Is it possible to root xperia x8 with manufacturing date 11w48? At least at 95% chance. I'm a bit scared of the bricking part...
2. If it is possible, what kind of "ROM" (if I understood correctly) should I get?
3. If I get hard bricked/soft bricked what's the chance my phone will be still usable.
That's about it. Please don't rage at me for "OMG USE SEARCH BUTTON" type of thing.
I have tried doing it but no results found. Just threads and posts of people updating their.. ROMs I gues? Correct me if I typed anything wrong there.
But yeah, help would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. You can safely root your x8 regardless of when it is manufactured, you will not brick it
2. You have 11w48 so it is very risky to unlock your bootloader, i suggest you flash ROMS that is for stock
3. If you get soft bricked you can flash the stock firmware back using flashtool or SEUS, if it is a hard brick, you need to go to the nearest Service center or use a JTAG

Thanks a whole bunch. I thought I cannot root because of my manufacturer date. But what is a flash ROM tho?

you can root your phone. but you can't unlock bl.
when you root your phone, you cam install cwm recovery. simply dl a rom for stock kernel and go to recovery and install(flash) the rom. remember to check the instructions first.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
All what I found until today was that if I cannot unlock BL I cannot install CWM recovery.
Maybe it is related to model - mine is Sony Xperia J. Y2012.
There is no fastboot available.
Am I wrong, can I have CWM, nandroid backup etc on stock ROM as only such one I may flash ?

this is for x8. not sure how it works on J. but yeah we don't havt fastboot either. but we can install cwm even with a locked bl. again that's for se x8.
edit: my advice is go to your phone's subforum. you'll get your answers there.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Thank you. I understand that lot of things is device dependent but thought there are non-breakable rules, like gravity,
and what is possible to do under certain circumstances was one of them.
Need walk through XDA forum once more, maybe there is a hope.

there probably are a few unbreakable rules, but not being familiar with your device i can't guarantee that it's safe or it would work.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Despite lot of reading I still am missing knowledge.
Question is:
What is fastboot ?
I found more than one definition of it and compiled into my own.
1.
Of course fastboot.exe is Windows binary (part of flashtool pack) which does certain type of work.
This is not what we are interested in.
2.
I concluded that:
- fastboot is one of modes into what android device can wake up. Just like linux can boot in different ways or Windows into single mode.
- this feature is encoded into boot.img, it is not separate android application.
- boot.img will work only with related kernel.img. They are like love and marriage (which is like horse and carriage - Bundy's).
- Sony sometimes disables stock boot.img to boot into this mode then without replacing boot .img it is impossible.
More comments ?
Fastboot is protocol used to update the flash filesystem in Android devices from a host over USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Okay, I got one more last question. Is this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906195&nocache=1 okay to use for rooting? I'm still trying to find the LATEST safe ones =/ I wonder if this one is okay.
Um, I tried that one it didn't work. It said some stuff are missing, then it exited randomly etc.. Can someone give me a link or a short/long guide which I can use that's latest? I do have some X8 drivers in a .zip file but no idea how to install them. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Remove CWM for TWRP issues

Hi friends
I am currently running my HTC ONE with a Venom Rom and been told I need TWRP to update to v4.1
Cannnot get TWRP to go over CWM :/
I have removed ROM Manager but still boots into CWM
I have installed GooManager and it asks if I want to install the open recovery script, does the 10 second count down, and then goes back to main screen, does not do anything else - I have removed it and reinstalled, still same issue
If I use Goo to boot in to Recovery it just freezes on the YES/NO screen and then says script is taking too long wait or cancel :/ Left it for ages to no avail
When I looked in ROM Manager it did state Twrp was the recovery but stil booted in to CWM - now I have removed ROM Manager as I read on here that might be the issue :/
I have also just checked for CWM APP, and that is NOT installed
Can anyone help or am I going to have to flash a STOCK ROM then go back to Venom?
Cheers guys
So basically, you want to install TWRP recovery replacing your current CWM recovery right? but can't make it happen since everytime you do, you ended up still having CWM?
Try flashing this file using CWM.

Just flash the recovery through fastboot

@skpManiac (OP), stop using toolkits, goos, youtubes, etc. if you want to flash low-level stuff, then do it the "hard way"
1- download the file
2- VERIFY MD5
3- (ironically) use 3 (as in three) command lines:
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

How to root Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 Marshmallow 6.0.1?

Hello everyone, I just switched from iOs to Android and got a Z3 compact, so i want to root it but I am not familiar with the process so can someone please show me how.
Thank you very much and sorry for my English
Irrespective of some language skills there are a lot of threads in this forum and one even sticks to the start page of the Z3C subforum...
So how about just using brains and look for it?!
You would have found that one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/recovery-root-mm-575-lb-t3418714 in less time than it took to write that posting!

As I said, i am new to all of this, and to be honest i am mostly using google translate.
However, thank you for your help but it seems that my Z3c is on 23.5.A.1.291 which i think means the latest update so and i assume the root is not available yet.
Thanks again.

Rooting isn't really that hard to achieve on Marshmallow, here is the easiest way to achieve root.
1) First, back-up your DRM Keys and proceed to Unlock your Bootloader
2) Now that your Bootloader is Unlocked, you can now flash Custom Kernels to the device, such as this
3) The kernel above contains TWRP, flash it using Flashtool's fastboot mode
4) After flashing the kernel, boot the device and hold the vol + and vol - button until you see the "Team Win Recovery Project" screen.
5) Without turning off your device, download the latest SuperSu and copy it to your device ( preferably SD Card) using MTP
6) Flash SuperSU and congrats on your rooted device.
Here's a Video for better explanation
Disclaimer: Unlocking the Bootloader voids your warranty the instant you do it, so keep that in Mind.

Thank you for this how-to, it's worked perfectly.
Btw holding both + and - buttons do not get us to the TWRP. With the Elite kernel V3, rapid taping of vol + button gets us to the recovery.

Sounds like you've jumped into the deep end a bit too early... The best option for you is likely to go to your device's forum, here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus
There you can probably find information and guidance on how to root, flash and install stuff to your device. And you'll be able to ask for assistance from other users that have the same device as you (not every device works the same, and that is especially true for Samsung).
A couple of tips for you, going forward:
Do your homework. Read as much as you can about the modifications you're trying to do, and Android modification in general (but remember that things can change fast and a guide you find might be very outdated by the time you read it. The forums are usually the best place for up-to-date info).
Make backups! Always make sure that you have a backup of any important data, and don't store it on the device.
Know how to go back to a working state when you mess up, because mess up you will (everyone does at some point). This tip is of course tied to the first one...
Don't follow some guide or video blindly. Make sure you understand what every step of the process does. That way you won't get stuck like this next time.
Good luck.

Linux user unable to find the correct process to get a custom rom installed and very confused

Hey guys ive been perusing the web for days, i cant seem to find the method that should be used to get a new rom on my phone i have the SM-N950U1.
i am also a linux user and not sure exactly how i should go about flashing when i dont have a windows machine. does any one have a clear start to finish idea how to correctly do this and what i will need to complete the root, flash. im sorry if it covered some where i hae looked but evidently not found a method. any assistance would be very grateful i really dont like proprietry bloatware and i know this is an older phone. thank you all for any assistance!
1. Unlock bootloader.
This will factory reset your phone.
I forgot the exact process of this, was a long time ago when I did this.
2. Flash a Custom Recovery with "ODIN"
"TWRP" is the most common Custom Recovery.
I think ODIN is Windows-only Software, but you could use a VM.
3. Boot into Custom Recovery & flash the Custom_ROM.zip file.
You can try out Custom ROMs from XDA from the ROMs-Section.
I may have forgotten something, so take this with caution

First of all the SM-N950U1 (snapdragons soc models) has a permanent LOCKED bootloader so no TWRP recovery.
The post from dreamytom is for SM-N950F/F-DS/N exynos models.
You can only root the SM-N950U1 models, with nougat firmware with root only, depending on the bootloader you are on and if you can find the files needed for it. The thread for that "Extreme Syndicate root thread " has been disconnected and the files taken down, so might want to ask in that thread for someone to share the files for you.
Best of luck!
