I thank you for the work you guys do EPIC TEAM, but this mod screw up my phone, I installed the mod to disable the reader so that I didn't wake up my phone but now it has also mess up my power bottom by stopping my music from playing when I click the power botton to tun off the screen furthermore it wont uninstall even after flashing and reflashing the back to normal file. I need you guy to tell me how to completely erase this MOD file and to go back to before I flashed this files, I know this is a trial an error but for every problem there is a solution right, thanks for your work.

Please help everyone, I messed up with my phone..
I installed SGStools yesterday and just click on TouchwizUI GTG and it went all ok....
About the installation of GTG Touchwiz, I think there is an phrase saying "first, install ..... e.g. launcherpro" which I didn't do. But after that it went ok.
THen this morning, I started to notice that evrything i press the middle button once, it will vibrate and an error will popup, and I need to click it again to relaunch the homescreen..
After that, I went to SGStools again and tried to restore my backup, but the backup wasnt there, so I try to reinstall the Touchwiz GTG then afterwards restart the phone, after which, the homescreen is gone but I can still use the notifications and answer calls and text.
Please help me, I'm on stock ROMs and all things that I installed in my SGS is OCLF and Root and this one. Please help me!!
Anyone PLS?
Download root explorer. Go to android development and download and read instructions in the touchwiz launcher thread.

Okay. You still can go to download mode right? (volume down + home + power)
If yes, try flashing back to a stock firmware usign Odin.
I've got CM7 running and everything is perfect...But I decided to remove the lockscreen that I had enabled earlier and now the screen is locked and there is seemingly no way to unlock it.
Under the lockscreen settings, I know that I enabled the first and third options thinking that all I would have to do is press the "N" button on the bottom to unlock but nope!
Can anyone help or am I forced to completely reset this.
lol i did the same thing as you to try and see if i could be of any help but i also got stuck at the lockscreen.
the menu button is the two rectangles (to the right of the home softkey) and not the 'n' button. well anyways i tried both the 'n' and the menu soft key and nothing happens. i guess this could be a good excuse to update to the stable cm7 as i dont think this can be undone otherwise
LOL I'm sorry to hear that...I wasn't expecting someone to try the same.
Well, if I have to install a new build, do I simply install over the existing in CWM or do I have to format a section only...I'm happy with the kernel. Do I have to reinstall Gapps?
you can simply reinstall over the existing cm7 build without formatting anything and you dont have to reinstall gapps.
however two things to note:
1. if gapps force close after flashing a newer cm7 build, you will have to reflash the gapps. this has happened very rarely while updating versions of other roms but it has happened.
2. if the lockscreen still stays the same after flashing the new cm7 build, that means that the cm7 settings were not reset. if this is the case, we both will have to do a full system, data and cache format using cwm and then flash cm7. hope it doesnt come to that.
Well you're right...it doesn't reset the system. I'll do the full reinstall tomorrow...thanks though for you help!

Thanks for the adb suggestion but I'm far too impatient to actually wait for help so I reinstalled everything.

Set up ADB and use ADB to reboot into download / recovery mode.
If you can figure out a way to get into settings, you can open up market and download "Go Launcher Ex" or another launcher

hell, better yet, use adb to install a new launcher
just download the apk from somewhere.
you said your phone can still turn on and load up right? just no launcher?
adb should work in that state.
install drivers on your PC, set up adb, put the attached file in the same folder as adb...
from command prompt type "adb install com.fede.launcher-2.apk"
restart phone and you should have a working launcher.
Why this bad attitude from some of you guys? He needs help!

If you're on a PC, download Samsung Kies and launch it. Hit "ALT-F4", which should get you to a secret menu for launcher replacement that *should* resolve water damage issues.
If you're on a Mac, download Samsung Kies (currently a beta) and launch it. Hit "Command-Q", which should launch the MacOS compatible secret menu for launcher replacement that is supposed to resolve water damage issues.

No need to open a new thread each day with the same problem.
In your other thread from yesterday you wrote that odin stopped at factoryfs.img.
And as a member wrote you bricked your device.
So two options:
a) replace motherboard for complete repair
b) use the workaround with repartition (and excluding damaged sectors) - use the search here for the detailed explanations how to do this.
If you repartition, be warned you'll lose up to 3gb of space and it's likely you won't be able to run stock roms anymore, only cm based or aokp as they're smaller.

Didnt know they would change under certain conditions. Thought they would stay the same. Funny it workes that way. Never read it before. Pretty easy mistake to make on my behalve, I read his combos and really thought he was doing it wrong. Sorry, I then had it wrong. My bad.
Hey there,
I just bought some SmartTags for my new Xperia Z, and they work very effectively, but there is one big thing that compromises the whole idea of automation. Obviously, you cannot use them when the screen is off or locked. So I have to hit the power button, enter my unlock pattern, approach the tag, hit the power button again. I guess this is for security measures, but is there any way to make them work like that?

This would be great if someone can modify the NFC.apk file (If I am correct) to run even when the screen is off. This was done for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 previously. Much more convenient to tap without having to press the power on button.

Rooting does not void warranties. User damage to electrical devices voids warranty. I have rooted and installed custom Roms on phones for years and even sent back phones i've bricked for warranty replacement and they've always been repared/replaced on warranty.
If you cause damage to your own device through user error, rooted or otherwise, THAT will void your warranty.
As for NFC smart tags, if you can't program them to work with only your phone, so that you don't have to turn on the screen, then they're not very smart are they. I am glad I read this thread before purchasing any.

The developer of ROMAUR once posted the .apk file that enables off screen nfc. This worked for the 434 firmware. He removed the mods from his main thread, I am not sure why. Perhaps someone could approach him and request for the nfc mod.

yeah i just asked him if its still in the rom and it is. According to some of the posts in his thread, there are still issues with it such as the icon not showing up. I had a look at the smali files for the nfc.apk to see if I could understand the changes he has done and compared it to my own but its significantly different. The nfc mods on other phones only change the code in one of the files (nfcservice.smali), whereas the romaur one changes many of them.
Im not a developer by any means (decompiling was an achievement for me!) so I'm too scared to try and mod this. Hopefully someone can pick this up for the xperia z...

I either need a link to the ROMs you are using (especially @dopee who pulled me here) or the Nfc.apk and all framework*.apk of them.
Then I would give it a try.

Because I need deodexed apk I took this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325471
Give it a try:
Edit: moved to thread
Wow that was quick!
I tried to install this 3 ways (sorry I'm sorta new at this so may not have done it correctly).
1. ADB but I got a permission denied when trying to remount / push. Do I need to have an unlocked bootloader and install a custom (unsecure) kernel?
2. I created a flashable zip. It went in ok, but when I rebooted, my NFC options disappeared. I restored to get it back.
3. I tried to just use root explorer and copied it to /system/app and ensured it had correct permissions. I deleted the nfc.odex file as well. After reboot, my phone tried to repair itself (triangle with tools icon) and then when it booted my NFC options disappeared.
Since you got it from a leaked 4.2.2 rom do you think that is why it is not working (I am on 4.1.2)? Or am I doing something wrong?
I was just using the lockscreen apk version.
