I m currently using indian variant of moto x (xt1052) which was initially launched with 4.4.2 onboard in india.
After a lot of research i found out that even jellybean firmware is available for it and so by using fastboot along with xt1053's firmware , i successfully downgraded from 5.1 to 4.2.2 but a foll. problem occured:-
I was able to get network but LTE data wasn't working even when turned on for a long period of time and so can you please suggest me some twrp flashable modems for xt1052 which can run data perfectly on my moto x on jellybean firmware?
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and time.
Why use old ROM? )
And what exact model are you using? See fastboot > Barcodes

What are those of you with a Rogers Moto X doing given they still haven't released KitKat?
I know their forum has a post indicating it's "coming soon", but attempts to get more information in the Moto X section just result in nonsense responses from someone who doesn't even own a Moto X.
My concern with flashing the developer edition ROM is the loss of warranty and lack of Band 7 LTE support. However, I'd be tempted if the latter is not an issue.
I'm not with Rogers but I am using Rogers Moto X's. I have unlocked the bootloaders on all of my phones and flashed the 4.4 dev edition/retail/tmobile firmware and then flashed the kitkat 4.4 Brazil modem file(this will give you the newest modem file and enable band 7 LTE). Performance is excellent, if you don't mind the warranty issue then I'd highly recommend it.

Hmm, interesting. Wouldn't flashing the Brazil modem affect future DE OTA updates?
[edit] Ugh, it seems that the Brazilian model doesn't support LTE Band 1 (which Rogers uses):

Rogers uses LTE bands 4 and 7 which will work prefect with the Brazil modem.
Looks like the wait will soon be over:

Well you may have to wait for the T-Mobile sbf firmware to be available, modem for German and uk firmware don't work on some carriers. Case of impatience as T-Mobile is firing out the ota now
All you can try is flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2638090
and hopefully it works

Why is every stock ROM for every variant but the gsm model? And to flash those do I need to be on a stock ROM first? Every time I try I get a status 7 error

Same question here buddy... I haven't been able to put my research on practice yet, but from the little research I did here, I was going to do this first (reported to also work on 1053 GSM T-Mobile variant:
[STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS] Unlocking and Rooting a Dev Ed Moto X Running Kit Kat
And then run this ROM that also works on 1053 GSM T-mobile, and doesn't remove its real Active Notifications like other roms do:
T-Mobile/GSM Moto X test build
Don't flash the Verizon or Retail variant that thread has (Don't know what they mean by retail version of this phone). The only downside is that the GSM build of that ROM doesn't seem to get updated as often.
Lastly, after doing the above, if I could just have a way to properly have tethering/hotspot hack, I would be so happy.
Is that the eclipse ROM? That's the one I can't get to install. Currently on cm nightlies but I'm tired of things now working

I was wondering if there was a way to change my moto x xt1058 (currently with 4.4.2 Movistar Argentina) to an international or carrier free firmware?
I looked up in the firmware link from motorola and there seems it doesnt exist a 4.4.4 update, yet for the moto G it doesnt either but my brother currently have his on 4.4.4
Thanks in advance guys
AFAIK there's no international or carrier-free firmware per-se. You may want an AOSP-based ROM like SlimROM, DirtyUnicorns, etc.
You can flash a bloatware free version, though, but it will still be based on some carrer's ROM.
As of today, only Verizon has released its official 4.4.4 and will be full of bloatware also.
fortunately my phone came bloatware-free.
So the only 4.4.4 update out there is Verizon's?
My idea was to flash a firmware from which i would be able to get the earliest OTAs

Not only is this very risky (flashing another carrier's ROM), but also it doesn't mean that you'll get updates quickly at all!
In the case of the Moto X, Motorola has staggered the updates across all carriers. The camera update came first for 1 carrier. Then the 4.4 update came first for a different carrier. The 4.4.2 update was first for yet another carrier. The 4.4.3 update came first for the XT1053, and the 4.4.4 update came first for Verizon. There is nothing you can do to make sure you receive updates "earliest" - unless you switch carrier ROMS each time a new update is released. Not only is this ill-advised, but it could leave you with an expensive paperweight.
My advise is be patient. Your carrier WILL get it soon.
Hello
I am wondering if anyone can point me to the stock 4.4.4 firmware for moto X for the XT1097 variant which runs on WIND in Canada.
system version is: 21.31.52.victara_retca.retca.en.CA
Baseband is: MSM8974BP_2147.127.04.57R,VICTARA_RETCA_CUST
also, if I flash any custom firmware such as cyanogen, will I lose the unlock?
Thank you
