Wifi stuck trying to turn on. - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? I tried restarting the tablet and powering off completely. Nothing has worked. The last time it happened i deleted some random 3rd party apps and it magically switched on. But i havent downloaded anything new and my tablet is very close to original. It is the 9.7 inch us cellular version. I want to check for an update but without wifi, i cant do much. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Had this problem with the 8 inch version. Shutting off the Samsung power saving app resolved ot for me. Look at my post history, it should be a recent thread that I started where I documented what to turn off. YMMV.

Thanks for the suggestion. The wifi magically was on again today. The only thing i had done was took the sim card out, rebooted and left it sit. Wifi did not come on initially so i dont know how long it took but hopefully it keeps working

Well it quit working again after rooting and flashing a custom rom. Ive read the wifi chip could have a bad solder. Anyone else have any input?

I would flash back to complete stock before making any assumptions.
WiFi is highly dependent on the device firmware.

X1 won't boot at all

I've got an X1 here that's not booting at all anymore. No matter what I try, it won't boot. When I connect it to the computer it's being detected as Microsoft USB Sync and that's all I'm getting from the phone. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Remove the battery cover and take out the pen. You will find a hole on the right side at the bottom that would be covered by the pen if were inside. This is the location of the reset button. Keep pressing that button with the pen for about 5 to 10 seconds. Helped me boot my phone two times already when it didn't do anything anymore.
Apparently the problem is the battery, it appears to not be able to charge whatsoever. Going to try a different one later on. Appreciate the help though

I agree...........
Hmm, I think the problem might be the ROM. It started acting up after I installed Energy ROM on the device. Any thoughts?

you did a hard reset after flashing?
in case the answer is yes and you really think it's rom related best address the respective rom thread
if other users encounter(ed) the same issue the best chance of finding the solution will be there
if everything else fails you might have to flash again...
I'm just going to re-flash it then, if it doesn't solve the problem I can always flash it back. Will report back.
It's been charging all day now, it's charging quite slow though. However, it appears to work just fine now, it's just that the battery is acting quite weird. Going to test it tomorrow to see if it acts up again.
Thanks for the help

[Q] automatic random reboot

hey all,
i got my galaxy note now 3 weeks ands it's rebooting random all the time. at a service point i let them do a factory reset but that did not work. does anybody know a solution for this problem? because i dont like to send my note cause i will not have a few days sow if anyone got a solution i like to try it.
Gr Sven
Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

Come to think of it, mine also reboots when disconnecting from USB storage mode. I thought maybe this was buy design? Maybe not!

Do you use antiviral software? Start by removing that. Kaspersky have messed up almost all my Android devices.

why would you need to pay anything if the phone is under warranty ?
I also have this issue, I found out that its the power button..

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...

[Q] Wi-Fi keeps turning itself on after latest update.

I received the latest update to 4.4.4 this past Wednesday. This is the update that included the HTC Eye Experience. The update went smooth and everything was all good until I was driving home from work. The phone randomly rebooted itself and ever since, I cannot get Wi-Fi to turn off. It stays off for approximately one minute and then turns right back on. I have searched this forum and others all day with no solution seeming to help. I also hard reset the phone earlier today but the problem persists. Anyone had this issue or have any solutions? Thank you in advance!

Do you Sprint Connection Optimizer running? That'll keep Wi-Fi on. See this http://support.sprint.com/support/t..._Optimizer_on_or_off_HTC_Onereg_M8/51761-1469

Thanks for responding! Its not Connections Optimizer. It has been turned off from day 1 but I did recheck and it is still off. My M8 is not rooted and completely stock. It worked great up until this update. I tried soft reset and hard reset to no avail. There is a message that pops up in the notification bar sometimes (Wi-Fi notification with a red triangle) that says setup has not been complete but nothing happens when I click on it and it goes away. Sprint is, of coarse, no help at all. They want to send me a new phone but I really don't think this is a hardware issue. Maybe a bad download?

Some issues I've had (2 days in)

Love the device, but this one is going in for an exchange. Not sure if it will resolve the issues I had, but my phone was behaving badly. I unlocked and rooted it about 10 minutes after I got it, using the Chainfire method here..
1) WiFi reception is awesome, except it drops the connection constantly! I have an entry level commercial AP (Unifi) and the thing is awesome. All kinds of devices connected to it, but this Moto can't stay connected. From the logs on the controller, it appears to be switching channels constantly. Wifi goes from all bars to bars with x to off.
2) Reboot results in bootloop. On more than one occasion, I had to reset the device multiple times to get it to boot. This morning, I could not get it to complete a boot at all. I've since reflashed the Tmo stock ROM.
3) Lookout randomly comes back! Froze it with TiBu, stop and disable in app manager... nothing kills it! Reason 1 for root!
The WiFi issue is a killer. Again, I am going to take this one in and exchange it for another and hopefully the WiFi issue is gone. I think I'll need to restrain myself from rooting until I pass the exchange date.
I had similar issues what i did was flash the stock boot img then do a factory reset and reroot and everything is good now

Thanks! I will give that a shot before I take it in.
I've been back on stock with unlocked bootloader for a day and change, and I still get WiFi drops. It seems to happen more with BT on, but they certainly haven't gone away. I've changed a bunch of things on my AP to try and eliminate them too, but it hasn't helped much. I may try disabling the A/C radio (which fixes it for some), but that's hardly an answer. I am starting to think that this is a Nougat or a Qualcomm issue.
Seems like a hardware issue. If it was a software issue then it would affect more than just you. So far you are the only person on various forms I go to having issues.

Well, it seems I'm not the only one.

I actually have this issue with another device too , so I think it's either an Android, AP or a Qualcomm thing. Some have said turning off the A/C/N radio helps, but that's not a "solution."

SM-N950F soft bricked?

Hey all! New here. I just soft bricked my phone, i woke up to it not booting. I tried various fw in Odin, but no success. This is my day to day use phone, I don't have anything else, so I'd like to make it work again ASAP, hopefully without factory reset.
Hi
what manipulation did you do to get there before flashing a lot of stuff in odin?
I've been just pressing the buttons all around, then I read about Odin, so I tried it. Now my battery died, let's see if I can get to wipe the cache...
Update: no success. Is there a way to get it into recovery? the old volume up+bixby doesn't seem to work.
Sometimes its because the recovery itself is error so that button combination is not working..
Charge your battery until full, then factory reset it with odin, let see if that works
But before you do that make sure you download correct fw that match your phone model. dont try all fw available there, make sure you download fw for SM N950F..
Well it worked and it broke again... Back to square one.
Your infos are kinda vague.
Did you modify your phone and it got triggered by user-action, or did it hit the fan by itself?
I think it was a suicide attempt, I never flashed before, only major thing was just a battery change in a samsung service last summer. It's weird, because since last time it turned on again, but seems like the wifi didn't want to communicate, plus as I look back, sometimes it restarted when I touched the wifi or some random setting. Somewhere else I read that it could be a motherboard failure.

This was happening to me too before my phone just started bootlooping to recovery
Well it's been a few months, so a little update: it still reboots sometimes all out of nowhere, but now I have a different problem: tried to log into a mcdonalds app and it says it detects a security issue. Not that i'll cry over it, but definitely interesting. Anyway, I really think this is some sort of hardware issue related to wifi, because every time it started rebooting, about one out of two times i was turning the wifi on or off. Also sometimes the wifi just wasn't available or working, strengthening my thought. As I read on other threads, this is probably some manufacturing/serial issue, that just happens to come forth after all these years. Probably the last time I bought a Samsung...
