Does anyoe else's tab do this
When I scroll in a webpage or app, and I stop scrolling but still have my finger pressed on the screen, the screen starts to shake a little until I move my finger again, is it just my tab or is it a common thing?

the only thing i can suggest is that you are slightly moving your finger, its sensitive so might look like its shaking?

Mine does that too. I wouldn't be too worried about it since it only happens in the web browser for me.
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy Tab using XDA App
its not defective, its cause your holding your finger on it, especially in a web browser if your zoomed in a page and scroll it might happen.
its just your finger moving a tad bit that the tab senses. Also it might be catching two touch responses from your finger, not the tabs fault. Its the way you use it really.
Dont worry. The tabs touch response is pretty sensitive, which is VERY good thing trust me. Its better to be responsive then crappy on a touch tablet.
Sorry, but yes, it is a problem
I'll respectfully disagree. I have the same issue in my galaxy tab, and I've tried several others, this behavior is found in just a few.
I've made a video and a drawing test to illustrate it. I've put them in a page in a domain that I own.
(XDA still doesn't allo me to paste a link, but the address is fgfaria.com )
I've tried an app called touchscreen booster, which appeared to be appropriate from its description, but didn't notice any difference.
But there is a very intriguing point. It doesn't look like it's a hardware problem. I have installed touch test app, and with that the touch is perfect, no shaking. Also, specifically in youtube app, when scrolling the list of videos, it doesn't happen.
I need to find out why it happens pretty much everywhere, but not on youtube app and touch test apps.
Just to make it even more complex: as you'll see in the picture in the url above, towards to the right edge of the screen the problem is much lighter or doesn't happen.
If someone can help, that would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks,
Fabio
I'm getting this problem too. I get TERRIBLE shakiness when i hold finger input especially in google maps.
I highly doubt it's a hardware issue because this only started happening to me ever since i installed the italian gingerbread rom.
This this GB rom giving anyone else the same issue?
Same problem here
I am also having the same problem, installed an application called "Touchscreen Booster" but no avail.
Strange thing is that the problem seems to not happen on Youtube application.
I also have GB 2.3.3, in my case, the overcome room 2.0.0
One possible solution
Did you guys check the url I've sent? (fgfaria.com)?
Is your problem just like mine? In my case, I had the problem since Froyo 2.2, and still have it (the same way, no change) after an update to 2.2.1.
My GT is not rooted, and I'm waiting for gingerbread to be made available through Kies in Brazil to proceed with the update.
Another interesting thing is that most touch test apps behave normally (no shakiness).
Possible good news: I've found an app in the Market called "ILITEK Touch Utility".
Unfortunately I couldn't use it in my GT as it appears to require the device to be rooted. But it has several features from calibration to screen software reset. Hopefully this may help, specially as it seems to be a software issue.
Let me know if this works for you.
Regards,
Fabio
mine does EXACTLY the same thing as per your website.
the app does not seem to fix anything...
sigh...
at least good to know someone else is experiencing the same problem.
The problem is app specific
Hi all,
In addition to touch test apps and youtube app, there are some other apps that don't present the problem. One specific interesting case is the one of the HelloListView tutorial presented in Android Developers website.
I've followed the tutorial, and created this illustrative app that just creates a list and allows you to scroll up and down. This specific app doesn't present the problem we've been discussing. I've made it available for download as apk file in the end of that same testing page (fgfaria.com)
That application being so simple and not presenting the problem, and the other apps that also don't present it, makes me think that the problem may appear when some specific library gets included in an app. Possibly something related to hardware acceleration, for example (just guessing, no specific reasons to believe that).
If only we could isolate the cause of the problem, we could notify Google and/or Samsung and influence a new patch release.
This is as far as I have gone so far. Ideas, reactions?
Regards,
Fabio
Or the libraries being used in this tutorial include some kind of filter not used in problematic apps...
I posted about the same problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096698
I've included pics from my tests. Notice how before I installed the custom rom, the lines were perfectly smooth. This definitely has something to do with the software. We need to have one of the rom devs look at this and find out what might be the cause.

hi grukko, thanks for your comment!
To me, the most intriguing part is that the behavior happens in some apps, and not in other. I have done a very similar test, which I've published in the address http://fgfaria.com
As you see in the thread, the problem doesn't happen in youtube app, and screen touch test apps and in the list tutorial app I've created following instructions in Android Developers website.
Can you check if your problem is the same checking if youtube doesn't "shake"?
Thanks!
Fabio

Your test results look similar to mine. I just tried youtube and it does not shake.
New discovery:
It may be a hardware problem (at least in my case). A friend, in another forum noticed that the jittering only happens in screens with a light background, specially white.
This can be quickly tested, by opening a web page that has a white and a black part. Zooming in the white part (so that all background you see is white) and keeping the finger still, the screen starts shaking. If you move to the black part, zoom and keep you finger still, no shake at all.
Regards,
Fabio
Anyone? There is a solution for Galaxy S (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844216&page=3#). There must be a solution for Galaxy Tab 7 too...
Touch screen issues
Count me as another member of the shaky touch screen club! Anyone found a resolution yet?
No luck yet. Official upgrade to Gingerbread is not yet available in Brazil. I'm waiting for this upgrade to check if things get better, but I'm not so optmistic, as I've seen reports from many people to whom the problem actually started after the upgrade. Does anyone know if the problem has already been officially reported to Samsung?
Nope. Not mine, the tab working flawlessly

i have the same annoying issue on my GT P1000 with gingerbread 2.3.3 Kernel: 2.6.35.7
i also have the vibration on Youtube app and any black background slightly.
I have recently installed the AOKP GalaxianSoup Rom, and I was really happy with it because it is really smooth, however I found an issue which forces me to use Honeycomb rather than ICS. When I use the stock browser after a while it becomes unresponsive. It doesn't load pages and even if I force close it still I can't view any webpages. I tried to figure out what causes this and it might be related to Flash content. I also observed this problem with AOSP and CM9 Roms too. I am asking everyone: is this a common issue or it can be only found at me. What can be done to resolve this problem? Thanks for the answers in advance!

There is a common browser issue similar to what you described, but Force stopping the browser fixes this issue every time. To prevent it happening you can set Plugins to On demand. And yes, it is related to Flash.

Is it possible that there will be some kind of fix for this in the future?
I am adding a new thread because this is a very peculiar issue and i still feel something is really wrong in my N4 settings but i have seen some similar or even worse cases with some old gen nexus devices and i have tried some workarounds which don't seem to work so far.
Here is the problem description:
I cant play any videos in Facebook or Twitter official apps.
Facebook says "Error occurred while trying to play this video"
Twitter end up with a black screen and shows nothing( some 1 out of 10 times it acts as audio only with black screen again)
Strange thing is I cant play fb or twitter videos even in chrome browser in my mobile.
Youtube or other players work fine (Vimeo etc.)
Near about everything else works. Youtube app or browser playback is fine with no issues. Mx player runs fine too.
Some background about my device settings:
Android 5.1.1 stock, not rooted
Its using AwesomePlayer instead of NuPlayer in dev options.
There was one time when i was not able to play any video in my device because nuplayer was selected once by mistake and changing to AwesomePlayer helped.
But after that issue around 6 months back, i have done complete factory reset and everything was working fine for 3-4 months, i started getting this issue in last two months or so.
I read some similar issues in Nexus 7 2013 with Android Lollipop but not exactly this.
Is anyone else is facing or had ever faced anything like this?
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? Don't want to factory reset again.
I have tried all usual things like clearing cache, reinstalling those apps but i think this issue is something else as i cant even play those videos in browser too.
Again i enabled the dev options last week and thought changing to NuPlayer might help but that also didnt help. All others settings are default settings.
PS: Intentionally not posting as Q&A as i believe some other older gen nexus devices are facing similar issues with new updates so this might fit well as discussion thread.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note its solved: Reason was the older version of Android System Webview app. Updated it and this issue went away. Hope this helps others facing similar issue.
I think it's something about google webview apk...do you have this app??

What Android System Webview APK do you have installed? (This is essentially the applet which allows 3rd Party apps to access the web). The latest version, 45.0.2454.37 came out yesterday. While I have had this same issue in the past with older Webview versions, yesterdays seems to be working just fine. Go to the Play Store and update to the latest version and see if that resolves.
Yes i have this, In my device it says the version is 44.0.2403.90 and it says its up to date. So maybe the update is not out yet for my region. It makes sense that this is responsible for it as i have auto update on and some new version might be causing this.
What do you guys suggest should i uninstall/reinstall this. Or maybe get an older version?
Thanks for your help.
Btw, Facebook video playback issue affects other device too, not only the Nexus 4. It happened on my aunt's phone.
Plus it's not a Lollipop issue, my aunt's phone is still on 4.2.2, and I had my Nexus 4 at 4.4.4.

Go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ebview-45-0-2454-37-arm-android-apk-download/ and you can download the latest Android System Webview module and not have to wait for it to become available to you in the Play Store.

Yes i have tweaked the subject and hashtags accordingly when i know the exact problem.
A solution for another possible N4 video playback issue
I came across this thread searching for a solution for for my video playback issue, with my N4 unable to play videos occasionally.
I eventually narrowed down the problem to firefox, and setting
Code:
media.android-media.codec.enabled=false
in about:config finally solved the issue I had for years.

Same here with my Poco X3 Pro running pixel experience rom android 12. My phone sometimes do things itself really fast really crazy when chat head is on. I though that this is chatheadenabler module problem but this is a problem also with a messenger bubbles.

S21, the same, no fix found. I think we'll have to write to FB about this. It's probably rare case, cause I can't find any similar problem on Google. This is the one of few topics only... :/
Same problem with my S21+ running Android 12.
I didn't have this problem when I was using Android 11.
The same problem i S20 Fe after updating to android 12 with oneui 4.
There is a workaround for Samsung devices (sort of), but it's not ideal. Turn off chat heads in Messenger, then go to phone Settings > Floating Notifications and turn on Smart Pop-up View. Under Included Apps, add Messenger. Now you'll get a floating app icon anytime somebody messages you that basically behaves like a chat head. The chat window that pops up is even resizeable, unlike the one in FB Messenger.
New workaround thanks to NoWayToLint from reddit:
In adb type:
Code:
adb shell settings put global block_untrusted_touches 0
Or in LADB:
Code:
settings put global block_untrusted_touches 0

I'm also having the same issue. It says that "messenger isn't optimized for the latest version of android" when I touch my screen after moving the chat bubble. I checked for an update for the app but it says it's up to date so it looks like there isn't much I can do. Btw this is on a Galaxy S20 Ultra.
mine fixed after june update. S21 ultra

Thank you, your fix worked immediately! Gestures are now way more responsive too for some reason.
I'd like to ask for your guys help.
I am on Global ROM, MIUI Global 13.0.9.
First issue: In Chrome, I open an input box, and I get this weird black screen flashing. It's like a rectangle in the middle of the screen sometimes, sometimes it's jumping around. It feels like a Chrome bug, because I am not experiencing any other visual glitch or issue in any other app. I tried Chrome and Chrome Beta, but it happens on both. I used Xiaomi EU before and I have not had this issue, but I'd prefer to remain on Global now. Is this something I can fix via settings? Or is it a known issue?
I also played 3D games on it before and I never had any kind of visual glitch whatsoever. And again, other apps, are totally fine. Only Chrome has this.
Second issue: There is an app called Repainter that's supposed to let you customize Google Material colors, even on MIUI. But. It asks for ADB permissions. I enable USB debugging, and I enabled USB debugging (security settings). Yet, the app keeps asking for it. I tried it on my other phone, and it worked just fine, I was able to give Repainter permissions, through the USB Wireless Debugging menu. But on MIUI/my phone, nothing.
Thanks!

I had exactly the same issue on MIUI 13. After updating to MIUI 14 it's gone. Looks like a driver issue or something else, but it's finally resolved in the latest update.
