OP3T and CarBluetooth - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello Everyone,
I just got a brand new honda accord and for the life of me the bluetooth just doesn't work properly. I have looked online and haven't been able to track if it is a problem with nougat / opt3t. When I switch to bluetooth and open up any music app it will either take like 15 min before the music transmit to the speak of my car or it simply does not. I haven't tried with any marshmallow device.
Though?

I have a 3 second delay from my phone to the car headunit, but it works consistently and is likely the honda civic (2013) software/hardware as I had this issue with my OPO as well as my OP3T. No other bluetooth issues here to speak of.

I am pairing with a Volkswagen bluetooth system and it works fine and quick every time.

On my 2014 Honda Accord Coupe, it works immediately; maybe 3 seconds to start, if that. On my 2013 Kia Optmia Hybrid it takes about 30 to 45 seconds. Don't know why but by the time I get my seatbelt on and am ready to go, the music is playing so I can live with it.

I've been having the same issue with my BMW 328i, I have searched all over XDA and Reddit. The only replies are people saying it works perfectly, yet so many people keep opening threads about this. I'm having the same issue where it won't connect, only the phone will connect, or it connects with no audio. I submitted an RMA Request because this is really ridiculous.

Glad to see I am not the only one...I mean don't get me wrong. The phone calls work..Text comes through fine but Pandora and I heartradio just won't work as fluid. It is the same problem with my Benz...I figure was just a software thing with that car but my 2017 touring ain't any better

Gotta watch out with the built in volume control and equalizer. This DAC can and will destroy your precious speakers. I know I'm not risking getting one of my infinity audio speakers blown because one plus 3T sucks in audio! I use my s7 edge because I used it for the longest time until I got OPO 3T music started to sound bad and even makes my head uncomfortable at times when listening to loud music for 30 my minutes on my 3T treble is too high . You guys actually ALL have it. You just don't notice it unless you have two phones. Check out this video https://youtu.be/0KHDZU7gkzA

A Mercedes vehicle?! I would definitely not risk getting those speakers blown buddy! How can your ride even sound good? I test my 3T then my s7 edge and wow sound is much more fuller and natural unlike my 3T that tries to manipulate the audio. Completely destroying some songs lol ears like mine can definitely tell

I drive a Toyota Corolla Altis (2013) and the bluetooth sometimes connects. But it does not show the music data on the display. I have used the car bluetooth with my Xperia Z5 Compact without a hitch this issue puzzles me. Also sometimes when I connect the bluetooth for the first time, it will ask show a notification saying that peer has advanced bluetooth features and that I should re pair with the car audio. But when I do it does not make any difference. I wish I knew what is going on... :/

Logitech Boombox Speaker review

Here's a review I just finished for Logitech's Boombox Speakers for anyone looking for a set of bluetooth speakers for their Nexus 7
http://www.nexus7uk.com/logitech-wireless-boombox-review/
ooh i can use this as a stereo system in the bedroom and use N7 as a "remote".
wonder how much it costs in Canada...
my 2¢
Just to add on here
In the posted review he says the boom box has 8 drivers... it only has 4... two woofers and two tweeters mounted front facing
The remaining 4 are unpowered passive radiators that aid the woofers in achieving a bigger box sound.
Three very distinct volume levels:
Plugged in (max power... very loud)
Charged battery (less power... very noticeable difference)
Low battery (bummer unless your in a quiet room)
I've had this boom box for about a year now and it is the bomb... if you position it right ... on a bookshelf or boxed in area in a corner etc... the bass response is completely unbelievable for a device this size... I find I absolutely have to use an eq app to get the decent tweeter sound that I like or it sounds dull with the nexus 7 stock audio... the Volume+ app is the best for making the Logitech sound incredible.
We go to the park and there's a pavilion with a cooking area so I stick it up on the boxed in shelf area and I have a motorcycle sized sealed battery with an adapter to plug into the boom box for full 20 watts of volume... I CONSTANTLY have to prove to people that that little box is the only thing producing the sound... no hidden subwoofer... no secret speakers... it really is amazing in the right situations
Good review.
I lso have this speaker for months now which I use with my desire hd for music and my computer at times. One thing worth mentioning is when you use it to watch videos, there is a lag between the video and the sound. So thos is only good for listening to music umless if there is an app that can delay the video or sync the audio and video, but I havemt dound one yet.
edit:
the above scenario is when I'm using bluetooth, but when connected via 3.5mm jack, it's ok...

I use a different bluetooth speaker but I also saw the sound out of sync with the standard video player. When I swapped to MX Player pro the problem went away. You may want to try a couple of different video players to see if any solve the problem.

That's true on the 3.5mm jack... but it kills the whole advantage of having that cool Bluetooth factor...
Nice to have the options on there to work it the way that satisfies the user... great product

Yes, the big criticism of BT music streaming is the sound quality, I understand these things aren't for audiophiles! What are your thoughts on the quality? Do you notice any artefacts / distortion that you wouldn't expect (I guess it depends on the quality of your digital source)?
I hooked my N7 up to my iPod dock which also allows BT streaming and have to say it sounded OK to me - but the dock is hardly anything special, just a hundred quid bog standard sound system and CDs don't sound all that (when compared to the HiFi).
I have purchased a BT to HiFi adapted (also by logitech) for the living room system so look forward to hearing what it sounds like through a 'proper' amp / speakers. Given that I'll be playing MP3s over BT I'm pretty confident it won't be CD quality, but I'm not too fussy! Mostly I'm playing kids music in the hope it keeps my toddle amused for 2 seconds or I'm playing streamed radio which has already gone round the houses in terms of compression so one doesn't expect HiFi quality.
Will report back on my own experiences when my new box of tricks turns up.
Nxtab
I think depends how used to listening to high quality music,
For myself, no problems other than what already posted in my review.
Maybe you can report back with how good the bt adapter was with your hi fi as I'm interested to know

Bluetooth interrupt web radio
I have Logitech boombox for 2 days and it really is amazing, but on SGS3 they interrupt web radio
I have a Logitech "Mini Boombox" that works nice in the office. Hooks up via bluetooth to the Nexus 7.

I think I may be purchasing the boombox you reviewed as well. It sounds like a nice addition to my gadget collection.
The Logitech mini boom box is on offer at £40 from tesco direct in the UK.

Note 2-compatible earphones with controls

I just received my note 2 a couple of days ago. Loving it! - with a couple of small caveats:
1) Why must the stock email client suck so much? With such a great and big phone one of the main advantages for me would be to be able to email efficiently. But, first thing, you can't change the background color from black. Second, no search functionality. Third, the interface isn't beautiful. All of it: Just bad. (I come from iOS so I'm used to a very well-functioning email app). Some of the other email clients at google play seem marginally better, but none are perfect. Hope for updates and an imroved client from Samsung.
2) Then to my actual question in this thread. The earbuds/earphones that came with the phone sound great. But, they are in-ear. I know that most people prefer in-ear phones, but for me, not so much. It makes me feel shut off from the world, and if I'm listening to music on my bike for example I'm afraid I won't hear important sounds from the traffic, stuff like that. So I'd like to find some alternative earphones that are not in-ear. I tried the apple earphones from my old iPhone, and they work fine for listening to music and talking, but I can't control volume or move between songs and radio stations etc with them.
So I wonder: anybody know of earphones that work with the galaxy note 2 that are not in-ear, where the controls work and that have good sound?
headphone controls
For headphone controls, i am not sure because of the diversity of android phones that you ll find a compatible model which is a shame,
you can use this free software workaround solution : JAYS Headset Control in the playstore.
Regarding in-ear headphones and motorbiking: I did just that not too long ago and broke a time record unknowingly between two cities. It's cool what shutting off the outside world can do for your courage and concentration

Might be OT but both yes and no. You might take more risks but you also don't hesitate as much which makes it safer. Hesitating while driving/riding is really dangerous too! So its a double edged sword lol...
On topic, picking one of these bad boys up tomorrow. Hope the bundled earphones are decent enough to continue my stupidity on and off the road
Sony's Smart headset MH-1c has both volume controls as well as a call recieve button which works with Samsung Galaxy SIII and Note II.
While they are technically in ear, I would recommend using the LG Tone+ Bluetooth Headset - the model number is HBS-730. It has APT-X codec, which is for the most part indistinguishable from wired headphones, plus they have insane 12+ hour life. To get around being aware of sound around you like at work, I just wear one earbud in and the other one magnetically clips to the headset, which is super handy. I typically use them 10-14 hours a day and am a headset fanatic. They have volume control, play/pause, and track forward and back. Plus they have good sound quality for the money even though they are bluetooth.

Hi, I had the same problem and eventually have taken matters into my own hands by making my own using the 3 button remote bundled with the phone and some Klipsch S4i's I had left over from the iPhone days. The results were so good I have bought some more S4's to customise and have listed them on eBay for sale. Finally a solution to this problem. When are the manufacturers going to realise there are millions of Samsung devices out there and start making some decent earphones for us!!
Cheers

Try Skull Candy.

i only use it for music.
Play button once to play/pause, double tap to next track & three to previous!
hope this helps!
using earphones
Another alternative is try out the app Around Sound from the play store. It monitors external noise from the microphone and pauses your music to play that sounds to you.
I posted this in another thread, but the best retail option might be the new Samsung headphones that start coming out with the S4 - the HS330. Supposed to be better than the S3/Note 2 headphones and obviously volume and pause/answer buttons work.

Looking for a Stereo BT headset for Workout and Movies

I am looking for some help. Now that I have a tablet and I am trying to find a good BT stereo headset for it. I am going to mostly use the headset for listening to my tablet for movies and doing items on my tablet where I do not want to bug my wife and others.
I am also going to want to use it with my phone when I am working out or working on items where a tablet is just too big to have around. I went to Best Buy and they stated to use the Jaybird ones. They are going to take a large chunk out of my wallet. I am trying to find what else is out there and would have good sound quality and bass for movies but can take getting all sweating in a work out.
Thank you for any help or tips on this. Just kind of stuck right now.
You can also look at getting a receiver that has a headphone jack and use the headphone of choice.

Might have to look into that. Thanks
Motorola has some water resistant ones but they are trash. Go with the jaybirds. I have several friends with them and they work great, and don't short out.
I have a Sony mw600 receiver that works pretty well. And with a standard 3.5 mm jack you can use any headset you want.
It's not as "clean" as a pure bt headset, but it's a lot more flexible. It has fm radio as well, a nice addition.
The only downside I found is the touch/pressure/whatever sensitive volume slider is a bit fiddly.
There is supposedly a newer version out, mw600s, but no idea about the changes and/or improvements.

I've used the Motorola S9 and now the S10 bluetooth stereo headsets. The S9 I sent back at least 4 times because sweat gets into the buttons and when you press up or down on them it sticks the contact and acts as if you are holding it down. I finally got out of the warranty period and found that if I put them on the airconditioner return (on the floor) for a few days they work fine. I have to say that the S10 has not had that problem. In both cases, the "in ear" nature of the S9 and S10 do not fit me well. Of course fit is highly subjective so take it for what it's worth.
The S9 had better sound to me than the S10 and was easier to control (when there wasn't sweat behind the buttons). On the S10 I have to really press the buttons hard to activate them. The pads on the end of each side on the S10 came off in the first week. They were stuck on with what is essentially double sided tape. I tried to glue one back on with super glue which just hardened the semi-soft pad into a wrinkled mess. I used a dremel with an abrasive buffer tip to smooth it down.
Finally, the soft ear tips on the S10 come off almost every time I take the headset off. Of course the headset is useless if you loose the tips...well, it works, but is pretty uncomfortable in your ears. The one good experience was that I called Motorola and they sent me a bag of the tips for free. So now I have (I think) 6 pairs, two each of each size. No hassle from customer service. I was ready to pay something, but they just sent them for free.
I'm in the market for some new stereo headphones for the gym. They must be bluetooth, take calls, and have controls on them. The problem is that it's an expensive game of hit or miss on fit and function although I can return them to BestBuy if needed.
It might seem that I'm down on the S9 and S10. In general, I like the way they fit around my neck, I just wish they would nail it instead of staying at about 80%.
Just my 2 cents.
I have a Sennheiser pxc 310, it's a very good device, but the big problem with bluetooth, movie and nexus 7, is the latency between sound and pictures.
I have the galaxy note 2 and there is no such problem, maybe the apt-x codec solve the problem.
Give the LG HBS-700 a shot. I use them for everything from work, to tv, to working out at the gym.
They sound decent and have a decent battery life.
My only gripe with them is that they slip a little when on the bench.

I'm using the LG HBS700 with So Slim Rom and the sound/video is very laggy and choppy over BT. Even when I play local files or ones over the network. I even tried watching a movie on Netflix. If I stop the video and plug in some headphones directly, it works fine. Anyone else have this problem? Might have to try a different Rom.

I have this problem on the stock ROM, if you do some searching apparently it's a common bug introduced recently.
It's pretty disappointing as I got a Jabra clip to make listening while on the treadmill easier and it's just skippy as hell.
I'm using Samsung HS-3000 stereo. It has 3.5mm audio jack which you can swap the earphone for better ones
cant go wrong with these

Audio quality bad after Nougat?

Hello my one plus was working fine with audio till Nougat update. Now because of the built in equalizer the sounds are All over the place. High lows, mids low bass high treble. Tried a different equalizer app and helps a little but then I put a different song and back to tuning the equalizer again. Shi sucks! What can I do? Factory reset as of now is not an option because that's the Only issue I am facing. Might just buy a cheap O Android phone Just for music because this is plain rediculous. My head hurts after hearing such terrible sounds. Definitely won't blow out my speakers due to OnePlus ass. Any suggestions? Or just go ahead buy a new phone and use it as an MP3 player.

Disable the built in equalizer and try using a music player with a equalizer built into the app. You could also try a more powerful system-level equalizer like viper.
I'm not sure how bad you audio quality is, but surely it can't justify carrying around a second phone just for music?
Compared to my other phone which is Zenfone 3 ZE520KL with ZenUI Marshmallow, I can confirm that the OP3 and OP3T produce a less good sound for music listening. It gives me a slight headache when I use it for long music listening session.
I regularly stream music from Spotify with Extreme quality settings using my Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphone for when I work in front of laptop and Audio Technica ATH-CKS550iS IEM when I want to listen to music when I outside office/home.
So, IMHO for sound reproduction, my Zenfone 3 with only half of my OP3T price still wins.
I hope OP could look on this issue in the next update and not just focusing on phone interface smoothness and benchmark apps performance.
Agree, if you listen to music with no or stock EQ, the sound isn't great. ViperFX completely fixes this though.
Thank you for your replies fellas!

I haven't noticed anything but I started to use this a long time ago and has a version for the one plus 3. I had to use the hotfix version. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/soundmod-ainur-audio-t3450516

Edit: I also have a Fiio A1 for giving me more juice to my AKG-550 and Y55. Always swear by fiio price to performance also got the K1 for USB audio I use for my laptop. It's worth getting if you listen to music alot.

Came here because my ZE520KL sounds like ultra lo-fi after the Nougat update. All my high quality music, at least when not playing the entire sound range at once, sounds like those badly encoded MP3s.

If I were you, I would buy the LG V20 or LG G6 with quad DAC if you're really into the Hi-Res music.
OnePlus phone is sucked big time in audio department, they even don't really care about this
I don't know about the Zen 3 Nougat update anymore since I already sold this phone a few months ago
Latest 7.1.1 seems to get a better sound drivers!

Not really a big matter, but I want at least up-to-par quality. Came from a Nexus 5, after a Zenfone 5, after an iPod 4, and I couldn't tell a difference between them - also couldn't with MM Zenfone 3. But the Nougat update released for Zenfone 3 killed it's audio completely... I'm not an audiophile, but it's a BIG difference, and it's really a buzzkill when you're expecting a song you know in quality, and suddenly it's crap with the only variable being the ROM version...

Better try to flash the full zip rather than wait for the OTA to come to your phone.
Pocket now did a review and where impressed by the audio quality apart from some auto equaliser "magic" which now can be turned off in audio settings.
Between my friends s7 and my aunt's G5 this device is capable of running my AKG Y55 (Amazing price, great for those bass head's) and my more flat 550 mk2 struggle but my trusty Fiio A1 pumps that extra needed juice. I use tidal as my music addiction costs a fortune buying CDs and flac albums :silly: and now on desktop they have some MQA albums that sound amazing.
http://www.whathifi.com/tidalmasters/review
Also with some digging i found that One plus takes advantage of Qualcomm's https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapdragon/2016/11/18/snapdragon-821-gives-oneplus-3t-power-push
And in apps i see Dirac http://www.dirac.com/mobile-audio/
So my final assessment to me is this phone pushes well above its weight in the sound department but like most mobile devices it is the output power that suffers. Either get a external DAC (Fiio A1 http://headfonics.com/2016/04/the-a1-by-fiio/) if you are into tunes but want to spend minimum £$ and want portability.
A Few posts back there is a great audio mod that isn't witchcraft that i swear by, Nero is my choice but kills the built-in equaliser as it bypasses CPU offloading and pushes it straight to the built-in DAC.
Sorry for all the links i like to be thorough
Same here, after android 7.0 my Asus zenfone 3 sounds very bad.
I was impressed by its music quality before 7.0 update. I hope there will be a fix.

Been Using Apple Airpods with my 5T and they work wonderfully.

I wanted to share my experience using Apple's airpod's with Android, specifically the Oneplus 5T. Its been a little over 2 weeks and I have to say, they are the best.
When you purchase the airpods, it usually works best with other apple products such as an iPhone, ipad, macbook, etc.
When you use the airpods with android devices, they still work but you usually dont get all the cool features such as in detection, music stops when you pull them out, fast pairing when you just open up the case and it displays the battery level. I also have an ipad so I did test these features and everything works beautifully.
Here's my experience on 5T:
- I am on Oxygen OS Beat 11. Because of the features such as audio stops when disconnect from bluetooth and resumes when it reconnects which is not found on the stable version of the rom, it works well with the airpods.
- once the airpods are paired with my 5T, I installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=friedrich.georg.airbattery This allows you to see the battery level when you connect and disconnect from the airpods.
-I also connected the airpods to my ipad so I could configure the double tap gestures. I made the right to skip the next song, the and left to pause/play.
-There is also another app that can allow you to do (2) double taps to open google assistant.
-When connecting to the 5T (after being paired) it is pretty fast. Its not like 1 sec with idevice fast but almost around there. Its no where near the 5-7 it takes when I connect to other bluetooth devices.
- Sound quality is good as long as you airpods fit your ears and do not fall out. There are accessories you can buy to help they stay in place such as wingtips but again, if you the fit is uncomfortable, then you may have to look elsewhere.
I've used other wireless headsets such as jaybirds x3 and beats x, but those still have the wires which bothered me still and outside there was static and disconnects.
I also tried other true wireless earphones but they are so bulky. Airpods looked funny at first and prob still do, but I see so many ppl wearing them these days that it looks normal now. They are so small and convenient, charges in the case where it can last you the whole week depending on your usage. Since I am still trying these out and do have my eye on the Ticpods and Iconx, I will report back on my experience but so far, I really like the airpods.

That's great! It's awesome to see cross-ecosystem linkups
Just a couple things:
- Stable OxygenOS 5.1.4 has the audio features that you're talking about from Beta 11
- Almost all BT devices connect to the Oneplus 5T in less than 2 seconds in my experience. I have a couple of BT speakers and headsets, connection has always been nearly instantaneous. Maybe the delay that you're talking about is only in the Beta channel.
Thanks a lot. I have been wondering how well the Airpods work with Android devices. Those headphones are praised so much that they must be brilliant!
As the rumors suggest, we will see V2 in the near future with noise cancelation and waterproof.
Would def. be a reason for me to pick one up!
Why not bullets wireless? They are the best headphones I have ever tried.

Excellent
The only reason why i bought the AirPods is for phone calls .. i'm from Egypt and our streets is very very noisy . i tried many bluetooth headsets but with all of them
the person i'm talking to was not hearing me and hearing all the noise around me ,
i tried my friend's AirPods for 4 mins phone call with my fiancee and it was an instant buy for me ....
man i can her clearly and i didn't tell her i'm using AirPods she just couldn'd notice any deffrence , she thought i was using the phone despite all the noise around me .
bought mine next day and using it with my OP3T
i still don't like the color and the shape of the AirPods i prefer the InEar silicon ear tips .
