I got my note 5 from the Philippines a couple of weeks ago, I brought it back here in Vancouver Canada and I'm using Wind Mobile/Freedom Mobile for my carrier. It's not compatible with the phone but I really dont plan on changing my carrier. Will rooting my phone be able to fix this problem? My carrier calls for UMTS B4 frequency. My phone is Note 5 SM-N9208 6.0.1
Thanks!

I got a Galaxy Note (LTE with Snapdragon ) sold by SK Telecom in Korea. Back in States, voice is working fine but ONLY 44kbps internet speed on my ATT account with a new sim card.
I tried many APN setting suggested to use 3Gbut no luck. SK tech support insists that the Note carry no carrier lock. In engineering mode it won't allow to change band selection set by the original carrier.
Other Notes imported from other countries don't seem to have this problem. I wonder if my problem comes from hardware limitation (radio) or lock set by SKT.
Pease help.
You might want to ask around in the Vivid forum. Iirc there were differences in their Holiday and the Att Vivid. Maybe its just the radio though.

Someone else here had an issue with the same thing. The Korean Note doesn't have the 3G bands enabled. There was a link to a blog posting about the Korean Note where a lot of Korean purchasers were unhappy because Samsung and the carriers in Korea were using it to launch LTE there and the users were unable to unlock and use it on 3G.
I pre-ordered the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 from Negri Electronics around October 4 and I just received an email from them saying that they still don't have the T-Mobile Galaxy Note unlocked version yet. I want to get the T-Mobile Note 3 because the bootloader is not locked like the AT&T version. Anyway, Negri offered me the Samsung N900W8 Galaxy Note 3 instead of the unlocked T-Mobile version.
Would the Samsung N900W8 Galaxy Note 3 work with AT&T ?
http://negrielectronics.com/samsung...lte-32gb-nam-unlocked-black.html#.Un3Co8zTmpp
It has this band:
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 1700 / 2100 / 2600
I need LTE to work with AT&T since I currently have AT&T as a provider.
Should I accept Negri offer and get the N900W8 instead of the unlocked T-Mobile version ? ...or should I just wait for the T-Mobile version?
Also, this N900W8 version looks to be more expensive than the T-Mobile version that I orderd but they say that they would honor my T-Mobile price that I pre-ordered on October 4.

SM-N900W8 on ATT?
I really want to know if I buy a SM-N900W8 Note 3 from Ebay, can it somehow work with US AT&T network and hopefully get LTE too? Many thanks.

Well...did you get it? Did it work on AT&T?
I recently bought an AT&T Note 3, and I am wondering which LTE bands/frequencies the phone is compatible with...
I am looking to use the phone in Singapore (Bands 3 (1800mhz) and 7 (2600mhz)). The AT&T website states that phone covers band 7, while a phone rep stated that it covers band 3. A google search brings up conflicting info. If I can't use my Note 3 in Singapore, I will have to exchange phones. Any help?
Thanks
I went to Singapore in April using my AT&T note 3 unlocked and I used singtel n got lte on it too

Hi guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been following several threads on the Note 4. IT will be my first android coming from iphone, and i've got a couple of questions:
1) I'm in Brazil, carrier Vivo, Band 7, 2600 MHZ. Can I get the SM-N910U instead of the SM-N910C which will be sold here next month? Will SM-N910U work just fine with my LTE network?
2) What online store has a good price for the phone and will send it fast? I'm also looking at a 60% import tax on my crappy country, so it has to be a store that I know will send the correct model.
Thanks!
SM N910U still can use both 4G and 3G so you can use 910U
I think most of note 4 with exynos chipset can use 4G
About store i dont know because i live in asia and those phone in most of country here at the sameprice.
That what i can tell you
1-Yes the N910U has LTE on band 2600MHz.
2- You can buy it in Ebay and in 28mobile.com ask them for the N910U version.
Hi All,
I am on Vodafone who don't use the Band 20 frequency for 4g.
I have the Note 920i version, I have now found out it doesn't work on vodafone 4g as the phone doesn't support that frequency.
I assume there is no way around it?
Thanks
Someone mentioned chamging in service menu but also that could not work

main networks that use B20 in the UK are o2 and vodafone I think, EE and Three also have a little spectrum at 800Mhz not sure how much its deployed, I think I read that EE was using 800Mhz in rural areas because they could not support alot of handsets on it at the same time due to the limited spectrum/bandwidth that they have. A pity since the 800Mhz frequency is the one which travels through buildings better.
So is the US t-mobile variant SM-N920T the only one with B20 ? What chance is there in unlocking a phone bought off ebay? From what I gather T-Mobile handsets can only be unlocked by T-mobile and not other online services. On the Note 4 it was known that you could flash another carriers firmware on it and then unlock using one of the web services.

But did it connect to Band 20? maybe your older phone just used different band that your network supports
