[HELP] i8190XX softbrick after flash recovery with flashify... - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys... I gonna try to resume this simple.. in a hurry way i rooted the device using iroot app, just because was 4.1.2 and in the first try the odin method dint work for put in the recovery image.. so i try for the first time in samsung device flash the recovery using flashify app.. I installed TWRP twrp2.8_golden... and it flashed ok, then I restart directly to recovery (adb reboot recovery) and TWRP was there like normal. I flash cm11 and it flash ok.. but after I restarted the phone.. I get a bootloop but not a common bootloop restarting and so... this one is different (for me) samsung texts appears after that the screen goes black and the keys lights blink 3 times and the phone shutdown and the same at entering to recovery.. that's the story
now what I already done..
flash almost six firmwares, normal HOME/PDA and PDA, CSC for repair and including the first one 4.1.1 with userdata.img inside..
flash WIPE_I8190, PARAM, I8190-3-button-combo, I8190_stock-recovery, KERNEL-GT-I8190-, and more than seven types of custom recovery..
everything flashes OK, I can access to download mode, but not to recovery, when i enter to recovery the key light blink again and the screen goes black.. so I cant boot or enter to recovery, I already flashed all files in different ways like stock recovery with cm11.tar, twrp with repair firmware, stock repair firmware alone etc...
the only thing always fail is using the -pit for repartition.. just said "set pit file.." then FAIL..
what I'm thinking about this is some inflating recovery Kernel2 partition because i used flashify and I think flashify is using dd? don't know... the curious part is that twrp worked the first time.. and also repairing firmware flash OK...
well.. hope someone give me some advise.. I'm really now with no more free MB in my memory ram for think about more options

Stuck in boot screen with no recovery

I had a russian stock 4.1.3 firmware on my i9070 with standard samsung recovery and it was kinda buggy(Google Play wouldn't work) and I decided to flash TWRP (yes, I now realize it couldn't have worked since it is for gingerbread) and I got stuck in boot screen with no recovery. The only solution I could think of is to flash stock JB again, so I downloaded stock Romania(Cosmote) Firmware and tried to flash it with both Odin v1.87(with and without pit file) and v3.07 and Odin gave me a PASS each time, but I am still stuck in boot screen with no recovery.
Clearly I am doing something wrong, and it probably is something I should have read somewhere, but there are so many details that I don't know where to start looking...
Later Edit:
It finally booted! Sorry for the new thread.
I don't know why it wasn't working with the Romanian firmware but I used the Greece one and it works fine.
Hi, my friend is facing same problem. Its showing PASS always.
But, its not booting to custom recovery.
It goes to samsung recovey and says "Downloading"
How you got it cleared? Do u need to wait at that previous screen?

If you are flashing custom recovery, but you still have stock Samsung recovery, you are clearly doing something wrong.
When I flashed custom recovery, I had JellyBean Android installed and the recovery was made to work with Gingerbread, so it wouldn't boot recovery at all.
Since you are still getting the standard Samsung recovery, you haven't flashed the custom recovery correctly.
I suggest you retrace your steps and find some tutorial that could help you with your problem HERE.
When I couldn't access recovery, I just flashed stock JellyBean again with Odin.

[Q] Black screen after Logo, situation different from other threads here, pls Help!

So the phone tunred black screen when 1 day i was trying to turn off the wifi( if i remember correctly),
and then i started it again using power button, after showing the logo and boot animation, sunddenly it(sometimes during the boot animation) turned black screen and dead.
I got to recovery successfully and installed again the last custom rom(paranoid rom 3.x) and gapps i installed couple of days ago, and then reboot , same thing happened, couldnt get past the boot animation,, done factory rest, wipe everything and installed the last rom and gapps, same thing. (it's the only rom i had on my internal /sdcard which in the recovery i can browse through with no problem)
i tried to push another rom to /sdcard/ using adb, i can see my device under "adb devices" fine but it gave me "unauthorized devices" error.
then i downloaded the latest stock rom(4.1.2) and flashed using odin, flash completed successfully but still again same thing happens, cant get past the samsung boot animation.
----
after flashing the stock rom, now i cant even get into recovery,... and it seems there's no flashable recovery tar file for n7000.,...
any ideas?
thanks in advance

thanks for the reply!
i flashed the recovery using odin, but still cant get into it
then i accidently found that i can get into recovery mode when usb plugged in,,, but if i try to flash in that recovery mode, it will fail and end in black screen..
guess im completely fked and maybe it's due to some weird, hard-to-replace, unexpected, hardware problem,,,
In the Philz CWM recovery, are you able to format data and cache partitions?

Just looping on splash screen? Help!

Hi, today after my phone suddenly died without reason, and then my phone just looping on splash screen ( SAMSUNG GALAXY S-III Mini GT-I8190 ). Before I start this thread, I already google it, and I found this and this maybe so many out there with almost same case and zero solution.
Yeah, Stock Recovery and Download Mode still accessable and I already tried:
Wipe Data/Cache on recovery
Flash Stock Firmware using odin, With/without PIT.
Flash Param
Try different odin version.
Flash bunch of different version custom recovery, TWRP and CWM.
Flash CM11 Maclaw using odin.
But my phone still same, nothing changes, even I already flash custom rom, and my Stock Recovery still there.
Flashing with no error, but I have error log in Download Mode, movi_write_card status:2 with red font.
I can't flash anything with that. This is hardware problem? eMMC? If anyone have suggestion would be appreciate, thanks.
Sorry for my english.

[solved] Just another Bootloop - but this time with other complications

Dear all,
after rooting a cyanogen my Samsung SIII mini (GT-I8190N) went into a bootloop. Unfortunately, my home button is defect so I cant access the custom recovery (at least I have no idea how).
I can access download mode using an USB jig and I tried to flash multiple combinations of firmwares - but nothing helps.
The furtherst I got was with slimKat, with showed me for half a second a dialog which launcher I want to use, before it rebooted. CM 12 always "optimizes apps" and reboots after it finishes the last. Stock does only show the boot animation in a constant loop.
I tried repartitioning in ODIN and even NAND Erase all... but with no success.
My flash counter is already at 32
Does anyone have still some ideas? Can I factory reset the phone from ODIN? Can I somehow boot into recovery from ODIN?
Best,
Jan

I suspect that your device is boot-looping on custom ROMs because there is incompatible stuff on your /data partition. The data partition needs to be wiped and you can't really do that with ODIN. You need to find a custom recovery that allows you to flash using ODIN and that is compatible with the custom ROM you are trying to flash. You also need to wipe /data (format it) before your first boot. You will loose all your info, even the stuff that was in your internal sd but the device should boot.
BUT:
I note that you said your HOME button is not working and that is required to manually boot into recovery. Additionally, with out a booting ROM you can not issue the "adb reboot recovery" command which would do it for you. There is a trick that I have learned but I only know how to do it with "heimdall" in the Ubuntu Terminal.
Basically it's like this: If you flash a recovery directly into the kernel partition, then when you try to boot normally, you will boot recovery instead. Then flashing a ROM normally (in recovery) will restore a normal kernel into the kernel partition.
The partitions for the kernel and recovery on this device are typically kernel and kernel2 respectively.
kernel -> kernel
recovery -> kernel2
So:
recovery -> kernel ( Will boot recovery on a normal boot ).
I hope I have explained this well enough. You are going to have to do some learning if you want to get this working. Good luck.
P.S. If you are thinking of asking follow questions, don't, Google it instead.

Dear Meticulus,
thanks a lot for your help. I was away for the week-end; thus the late reply.
With your help it took me only an hour to get my smartphone working again. The main tipps, which helped me was the Heimdal tool, which I wasn't aware off and the possibility to flash the recovery directly into the kernel...
It worked like a treat. The smartphone booted into TWRP directly, which finally gave my access to wipe the data partition.
It took a couple of trials before I was able to flash an android image back to the kernel/system but this also worked nicely.
So thanks again and this brick is solved :good:

the galaxy tab 8.9 is quite aged so i thought that i could pump some newer juice in it. bad luck, it got bricked. stuck at the samsung logo, bootlooping over n over
it started when i tried to install twrp, my current recovery is cwm. currently, i can only boot into download mode. so, i tried flashing back cwm, twrp and even stock recovery but all of it failed. i also tried flashing another stock rom but it also failed. odin didnt even tried, it stucked at "SetupConnection"

I have a similar problem. I am waiting for tablet to die (battery dead) then plug into wall charger and it should bring up download mode.
Do you have the LTE model?

im afraid i dont
Going to necro this because I've had the same problem as the OP (but not 2nd message).
I had CWM 5, tried to flash TWRP (so I could get Nougat), ended up with no recovery bootable. Can anyone help me get back with a recovery?
Tried to flash TWRP 3 but stuck at "failed". The tab was stuck in like 2% status, and wouldn't respond to Odin commands to flash again, so I had to reboot it.
Then there was no recovery I could boot into (icon would just flash when I tried to enter recovery from bootloader menu).
If I don't try to boot into bootloader menu, it sometimes would show the message "Software update failed", but would still accept Odin flashing.
I tried flashing via odin TWRP 2.6, 2.7, 3.0, CWM 5.5, Stock recovery and all did not work. TWRP <=2.7 and CWM would flash OK but still could not enter it, icon would just flash the icon but not change screen.
It doesn't display "Software update failed" screen anymore, but when I try to boot it normally with power button, it will always go into bootloader mode. If I restart with power + vol -, it would go into bootloader menu for you to choose between recovery and bootloader mode.
What should I do next to get a recovery back?
I haven't tried from Odin flashing a full stock image since I can't find a working download link anymore since hotfiles and devhost are down. Does anyone have a .tar or .tar.md5 for Odin flashing they could link me?
Never mind. I managed to find a stock image flashable by odin, flashed that and recovered stock recovery (and a stock ROM). I used the stock recovery to flash TWRP and then used TWRP to flash a new ROM, and all seems to be well now!

It is not possible with Stock recovery to flash the TWRP Recovery.
I think your Stock image has an CWM Recovery ( its a modified Stock Recovery ) and it is possible to flash TWRP.

Hi, that's great news! Would you be able to share where you got the ROM from and what version of Odin you used (and where you got it) please?
I am stuck on the boot screen with my GT-P7300. The stock images I have found so far don't flash through Odin and also fail in the recovery.
Many thanks in advance
