So I successfully rooted my Fire 7 Gen 5 5.3.1 and flashed the nexus rom with flashfire. However, the instructions I got were bullocks and the gapps I installed, well, didn't install. Through some finagling I managed to get a browser, amazon store, and ez explorer installed, but for the life of me I can't get the play store to work. More specifically, the google play services crash whenever I've installed them. This also has the side effect that every time I try to start flashfire, it also crashes just as it checks for pro...
I've tried a dozen different trouble shooting temps, reinstalls, and cache wiping. They say I need to reflash gapps, but the flashfire doesn't work and I was told the twrp won't work? So how do I get google internet services back up running? Can I use twrps now that it's no longer fire 5.3.2.1? I wasn't very clear on that and I don't want to have an accident brick.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

If you can't get FlashFire launch/run your only recourse is to reinstall FireOS 5.3.1 via the stock recovery menu (adb sideload) and redo all previous steps (root, flashfire, etc). Be aware GAaps and SuperSU are integrated with Fire Nexus. No need to flash anything but the ROM zip itself.

Try wiping the data for Google play services.
Sent from my Amazon Fire using XDA Labs
You most likely have used an older release of the nexus rom with the play store incompatibility. Use lastest nexus rom dated feb 8th 2017 from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/orig-development/rom-fire-nexus-rom-lmy49f-t3300714 . No need to flash gapps as its in the package. The flashfire error I've seen on version 0.53 which is included in supertools. Use the latest version of flashfire version 5.5 to solve that problem. Place nexus ROM in the tablets internal storage and reflash. I advise no SD card in the tablet or USB cable connected to it. Do a clean flash
Fresh installation from FireOS via FlashFire >= 0.55.1
- Click the Red + and choose 'Wipe'
- Ensure System data, 3rd party apps and Dalvik cache are CHECKED
- Click the Red + button and choose 'Flash ZIP/OTA'
- Navigate to and choose the latest Fire Nexus ROM Zip
- Accept defaults
- Move "Wipe" to the Top of the order
- Press the big FLASH button.
- Ignore any warnings that appear

I have searched and tried everything that has been posted. I cannot seem to get google play to work. I accidentally uninstalled it using Titanium Backup (was trying to uninstall the update) I did not have a TB of it to restore. what i have done so far.
1. Rooted
2. factory reset(Market was not installed after reset)
3. downloaded google play apk and intstalled
4. open play and it will FC with process com.android.vending has stopped.
i am on stock ROM and FRYO 2.2 T-Mobile version
I have tried to install a stock ROM and see if a fresh install of a new ROM would bring back GP but i cannot get past step one to get CWM to install. So all i need right now is to get Google Play to work so i can get this back to norma.

I did not find a solution to fixing the non-working play store but I did finally get the flash to upgrade to GB and all is working again.
have you try installing gapps??
try flashing gapps from cwm, you can grab gapps for froyo here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-mdpi-20110501-signed.zip
you must first unistalling any google app apk that you have manually install before, then go to cwm then update your gapps
goodluck.

I tried that but it wouldn't I tall either. I believe it said problem phrasing the app during install. I finally got GB installed and it works now.
I ROM'ed my phone with CynogenMod 10.1.0 RC3. When I did that I got a "failure" message when I attempted to install GApps (I think it was a partial download). I continued with the ROM anyway. But now I have essentially a Factory fresh phone but I don't have Clockwork Mod or Google Play installed.
So how can I now install the correctly downloaded GApps? I also don't see how to go back to my previous ROM.
I ROM'ed my phone because I was getting the ("unfortunately, .... has stopped") for many programs again.
The problem is also that if I go to Google Play (in the browser on my phone or on my desktop PC) I can't install any of the Apps I had because they are "already installed" and anyway I don't have the Google Play downloader on my phone.
Help.
I sideloaded ClockworkMod ROM Manager.
(System Settings / check "Unkown Sources" to allow them; dowloaded the .apk and opened it with FileManager)
Used that to get ClockworkMod Recovery
Booted into Recovery and ROM'ed CyanogenMod and the correctly downloaded GAapps.
I now have a happy phone.
The real question is why these "unfortunately, .... has stopped" error messages keep coming back even after I ROM and do
- Factory Reset
- Clear Cache
- Clear Dalvik cache

Try do a flash just without gapps, see if everything works then. If everything's fine, then flash in gapps. See if that causes any problems.
If that does cause problems, then I'm not quite sure, a fresh install fixes most problems...

I just flashed the newest daily build of cyanogenmod on my nook HD+, via a wipe/flash from clockworkmod. That works fine. However when I attempt to flash the Gapps, the procedure goes through as if they are installed, but they do not show up as apps on the system. I have tried wiping data and flashing again, wiping the dalvik cache and flashing, but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?

What do you mean as apps on the system? Which apps are you expecting to show up?
Sent from my Nook HD+ running CM10.1 on emmc.
I just put the latest CM 10.1 on my Nook HD+ a week or so ago and I think (and I may be wrong) but it only installed Google Play in order for me to get the rest of the apps (gmail. youtube, etc.)
None of the google apps appear. Not Playstore, not gmail, I don't even have the ability to add a google account. I tried the 8-12 nightly build, so now I'm going to try the 8-13 build to see if maybe it will work....if not any ideas?

I followed the steps to the letter in this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317500 except I used the 8/1/13 build and it all worked flawlessly. Maybe wipe it and try starting over.
I have a HTC ONE m7, rooted, I have been running CM11, flashing the nightlies with great success. When CM12 came out, it 'soft bricked' my phone, continuous reboots, failing android functions. was able to reinstall Titanium backup, then restore the phone to a previous point. back running, but not without bugs. after trying this 3 times, I have given up. but I read where people say, "do a wipe" then flash the ROM....... What, specifically does this mean?
yes I have rooted my phone, but I am just knowledgable to be dangerous. if It means back to factory specs, then how do I flash the rom? I think that my phone should run CM12, and maybe I need to wipe? wipe what? dalvic cache? is that a wipe?
Anybody have some ideas or can point me to some postings that may help me. Many Thanks, very tired of operating on the last build of CM11
blairan
Do a wipe typically means wipe the data, system, cache, and dalvik cache partitions. If you are using TWRP as your recovery (I do for this phone), boot into it and then press Wipe, then Advanced Wipe. Select those four (not internal storage or USB OTG) and then Swipe to Wipe. Of course, your phone won't boot at this point, so you'll need a new ROM waiting on internal storage to be flashed.
thankyou Coal, I have been trying to install a CM12 and/or a CM12.1 ROM I can get them to boot up, but play store is not present. I can access play store via themes, and it comes up as a web page rather than an app. (is this norm for CM12?)
once I sign in to play store, I try to install titanium backup to restore all my apps. it says it is installed, I press it anyway, and it says it will be installed soon, which never happens. CM12 and CM12.1 seem to be running fine, but I can't restore any of my old phone. I can recover to a CM11, but it is a little unstable, so I would like to upgrade the system and be flashing nightlies again. what do you think?
and after watching a few videos on you tube, I figured out that I was missing the Gapps file, and the supers file. enjoying lollipop success.
thanks coal!

I was going to suggest GAPPS, but I wasn't sure if you needed it for CM. Glad you figured it out!

@cbolumar Awesome!!!
You are back with a vengeance. Wanna Thank You for sharing your awesome roms. Please continue in the future.
All my tablets can run TWRP. But I am guessing for those on newer FW this Rom should be fully flashable with FlashFire v32 like the RR Rom ?
Also, what are the Gapps you recommend for both your Roms. NANO ?
AICP doesn't advertise its features as well as RR but it sure looks like another Awesome AIO Rom....

I always use OpenGapps Arm 5.1 Nano without any problems. Are you doing the recommended wipes before installing the Rom, Gapps & SuperSU ?
Flashed over resurrection remix without wiping data.. Infinite boot
Edit: Re flashed now.. with a Data Wipe Rom is working: In my case Data wipe needed from resurrection remix
No play store
I have installed this and it seems to be running great. I have been running resurrection remix since January and love it.
I seem to be having the same problem as another user with this install and play store doesn't seem to work with the installation.
I am installing with flashfire since I had the fire 5.1.1 update installed and the sequence I installed it is:
wipe
ROM install
SuperSU
GAPPS pico ARM 5.1
I didn't have a problem with the RR install and did it exactly like that and it worked fine. I even tried installing play services and then play store manually and when I do this then play services keeps crashing.
Edit:
So I got this going and soft bricked it in the process, however, was able to recover. I tried flashing this multiple times and was having problems with Play Store not installing even though it was being flashed after the ROM and before SuperSU. I then was caught in a bootloop that would get as far as the boot logo and that was it. I tried to sideload official firmware and couldn't get into device while in recovery. I then on a whim while in recovery clicked on erase/restore device and it restored back to ResurrectionRemix.
From there I used FlashFire again to flash AICP and still no Play Store. So here is how I got Play Store in by flashing again with FlashFire. When I added in the ROM, GAPPS, and SuperSU, instead of click on "mount," I instead left the default "read/write mount," (or whatever it was) checked and it worked. I now have Play Store and was able to restore all my apps and settings with Titanium backup.
I now have a question about Trebucet launcher and changing something. In Resurrection Remix the all the Drawer could either be set to scroll horizontal or vertical. I prefer vertical and have never like horizontal scrolling for apps; just my personal choice. Is there a way in AICP to change this for vertical scrolling, I am not afraid to modify scripts if need be.

You could not flash if not previously rooted. But that's irrelevant with a custom rom installed which should already be rooted. You're probably just missing a root manager. Try installing SuperSU; suggest v2.65.
yea i tried both methods, rooting using the supertool and installing supersu but some error comes up saying "binaries cant be installed".. so i sideloaded back to stock rerooted reflashed reeverything but its cool.. i know better now
I love this ROM but was unsuccessful in getting gapps to work properly. So I wiped and flashed Fire Nexus ROM with play store. Installed flashfire and 'dirty flashed' just wiping system data, cache, dalvik cache and then flashing AICP ROM, gapps pico nano. It seemed to have worked... on the optimizing screen it listed the apps I had before the flash. It booted up and then I got stuck at the 'checking connection' screen after picking my wifi.
I'm guessing this has something to do with me not doing a full wipe before flashing but I'm not sure. Any thoughts, suggestions? I'm leaning toward just wiping and reflashing again...
Had the same problem to start

My guess is you need to do a full wipe from Nexus. In the OP he says you don't have to from ResurrectionRemix and I'm assuming this is because the two ROMs are similar. I ran into a problem going from RR to AICP and was stuck at the boot logo. I ended up going into recovery and clicking on wipe/restore. This put me back where I was in RR rom and then reflashed AICP.
I also had problems with play store installing at first. I ended up ADB pushing the updated FlashFire onto my fire and installing it. Then When I flashed AICP I left the default option checked for installing zip, mount read/write, is what I believe it was. After flashing it with those options play store finally worked.
I explained this same problem in my first post.

Yep - that usually does it. Be sure to use the latest version of FlashFire (currently 0.50), full wipe on top (system, user apps/data, dalvik) and don't futz with default flash (zip) options. Recommend flashing just rom first, boot/stabilize, sideload FF and then flash a modest GAaps package (eg: nano). Good luck.
Which version of CyanogenMod is this ROM based off of?
I have had problems with different themes crashing on reboot and having to restore system.
