Whatapp not getting notification until I wake from deep sleep/ doze ? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Posted this on the Sprint section, but there seems to be more traffic here.
I just got this phone.
I wake up my phone in the morning and then I get tons of notification message from Whatapp.
The message was sent at like 8 am, but I only get the notification when I wake up the phone.
I tired putting Whatapp NOT to be "Optimize battery usage" and is still occurs.
I believe this is cause by the deep sleep/ doze feature?
I came from LG G3. It had MM with the same feature. But It doesnt have this bug at all.
I copy the same setting on my G3, and is still occurs.

How do I manually adjust the Doze option on my phone? My unrooted phone doesn't seem to be entering doze at all (even with power saving mode enabled)

[Q]moto x screen won't shutoff after notification

So I have active display on and no other options checked to keep my screen on for any reason yet whenever I receive a notification (only while on charge does this occur) my lock screen shows up instead of active display and it doesn't shut itself off. This doesn't seem like that big of an issue until I wake up and my phone is 125°F. Any remedies for this?

Sounds like maybe you should consider a factory reset, and if that doesn't fix the issue, a full SBF back to stock.
I cannot think of any setting that would cause this, unless you want to provide more details on what if any modifications you have made. Let us know what you do/decide...
Is it possible you have "Stay awake while charging" enabled in Developer settings?
I'm on 4.4.2 rooted with jcases pie exploit only thing I have done is gravity box. I double checked to make sure and I didn't have the screen always on activated.

5.1.1 ambient display inconsistency

Anyone else having the ambient display being inconsistent on 5.1.1 with T-Mobile. I find that most times when the phone goes into a deep sleep, the ambient display stops working. I'm stock rooted, with stock kernel and using the double tap to wake app. I'm going to disable the app temporarily to see if it makes a difference.
Its no more or less "consistent" than its always been.
Problem that you are seeing is that when its been bumped, it triggers the ambient display, then goes into a timeout for a while where the ambient display is disabled (for both notifications, as well as bump). Hence it appears inconsistent when in reality, it is just sitting in timeout.
OK, I understand. So is there a set amount of time that the ambient display stays in a 'time out' before working again. I've had the phone sit undisturbed for a few hours then pick it up and nothing happens, either double tap or ambient display. It seemed to work better when I was on Franco's kernel but thats not an option as of now unless I downgrade. Thanks for the help.

i have a broken Hardware that interrupt ( While Screen-off features )

Since I had a replacement for my bootlooped LG G4 H811. After recieving my refurb device I had this problem with double Tap to Wake and the view Glance feature. What really frustrate me is now it will or will not wake with double taping many times, view glance wont work but what is worst. Since probably the sensor is broken it will wake up randomly just laying on the table and any random touch or swipe on the screen would wake it. So battery usually drain while it will just turn on in my pocket.
I'm soooo sad and gave up after testing I can only just confirm it is a faulty Hardware.
My warranty is out. I really don't want to go through it again.( I might get a more faulty device ).
What i really need help with now is : How to disable all features that has any connection to waking the device or any other action that interacts with the screen while off?
I already have turned off the double tap feature using the quickshortcutmaker but still glance view feature is still on which is probably the reason for it to still wake up on the same conditions mentioned up.
I had tried CM ROMs while it only support double tap to wake disabling it from settings will save it from waking up.
But what I need is to fix the problem while on the stock software. For many reasons like having the LG stock Camera App. and a stable OS.
I have limited knowledge, but ithink i need to change settings in the firmware or maybe the kernel . Maybe using Xposed. but I really have no idea how to use any.
Please someone help me. I will really appreciate it.

Do not disturb

Hey guys. Loving my note 8. I do have an issue. When watching videos, I lose sound. I discovered that the do not disturb button is enabled. I disable it and hours later it activates itself, without any input. If anyone has had the same issue, let's talk.

You don't by chance have the Do not disturb option "Turn on as scheduled" activated in your settings do you?
This is happening to me as well, in the afternoons the 'DO NOT DISTURB' 'Enable now' setting is automatically turned on
My 'Enable as schedule' setting is turned off.
I have also noticed my DND randomly turns on, and then it takes me several times of attempting to turn it off before it will finally stay off. This sometimes happens several times a day. I do have a schedule in place, but my settings within that also fall out - such as allowing alarms or my favorites. The alarm option will stay stuck in the off position until I end up having to restart the phone. Once the phone restarts then I can make the changes I want, but not sure why I have to keep doing this. My fear is that this setting will switch while I'm sleeping causing an alarm to not go off or I'll miss an emergency call. I could just not use this feature, but I really like it and wish it would work correctly. I never had this issue on my S7
I am having the same problem after the most recent update. DND turns on all by itself every afternoon.
I tried using the schedule figuring it might force it to do what I WANT it to do, to no avail. It still automatically turns on every afternoon?
This issue even happens in Safe Mode

Notification screen wake

Hey guys,
Just got my phone in the mail today. One thing I have noticed is that notifications don't wake the screen up at all, no matter the app. I can't seem to find a way to turn it on either. I've used the app Glimpse Notifications on my G6 but it was a bit buggy and drained the battery.
I don't use the AOD because I'm not a fan, but does anyone know a way to ensure notifications wake the screen?
As far as I know without AOD on the only notification you'll receive is the LED indicator at the top of the screen. The screen won't light up when something new comes in.
Also, does anyone else notice that you can't double tap notifications to unlock the phone? You have to tap then swipe - can this be changed? It's super annoying.

Android Oreo introduced new Notification Channels. From Settings -> Notifications, you can specify the priority for each app. Anything below URGENT will not wake the screen when it comes in.
I spoke to samsung support, even if urgent - only native apps will wake up the screen, Like Samsung SMS.
Gmail or Whatsapp will not or any other app you install, only the once that came with the samsung rom installed
I use the app Glimpse Notification. It works very well.

The last 4 years Samsung has stop the faction to wake screen on with notifications...Instead you have AOD to notify you....
So the only solution is to use 3rd party app like ''Glimpse notifications'' that Works excellent with all samsung devices with no battery drain....
this is ridiculous.
I'm on 8.1 oreo latest build for unlocked Note9.
I turn off AOD, I have all apps notifications set to urgent.
Edge lighting works great with the screen on. With the screen off it's worthless. Nothing works with edge lighting and the screen off. And AOD off except the alarm app.
If its sms wake you want there are 3rd party sms apps that will wake the phone. but agree there should be a way. not even sure rooting the phone would do it.
