hello every body
more than year searching on how to get 3G on HTC M8 sprint a the band not compitable with my country
i tried many ways and got the easiest one by luck
simple steps
just download application named hidden android setting below link
https: // play .google .com/store/apps/details?id=com. kasitskyi. hiddensettings
then choose BandMode
from the check list choose Automatic
thats all
waiting your feed back
It won't allow you to modify the APN list so I cannot set up 3g usage.
the device should be rooted
note** i used cyanogenmods rom maybe this effect

After doing this, you were able to see "3G" or "H" when you activate data? I think even in 3G, sprint htc m8 shows G only... There's an app called "4G switch" on playstore I use to switch modes. It's red icon with switch symbol. And it doesn't require root. Works on stock rom.

Use anyone of your choice man. Wcdma is 3g, GSM is 2g.
Just upgrade to Marshmallow, you'll get HSPDA - no more EDGE... Drawback is you'll lose native Hotspot functionality; I don't know why but the feature disappears once you upgrade...

Hi folks,
Recently flashed my Omnia 7 to the generic retail UK rom to get rid of the T-Mobile splash screen and search.
Trouble is, I have lost the 3G toggle option.
I have the option to toggle 3G data, but not the cell.
Any ideas? Is the T-Mo UK rom the only one that can switch between 2G and 3G?

That's for 3G data, not cell. Like I said in my thread post. *Facepalm*
If you are homebrew enabled the Samsung Tools app can add this for you (regardless of the rom that you are using)

I don't think it's possible without homebrew unfortunately. It's controlled by a registry setting, which there is no way to modify without a homebrew program of some sort.
Edit - If you don't mind having to use an ugly GUI then you could try this to toggle 2g/3g (doesn't require DEV unlock):
Go into diagnosis (##634#)
Enter code *#2263#
I'm using the ICS leak 213, and the CDMA-only option has disappeared. Any ideas how to disable 4g? I've got access to the programming menu, but there I'm lost.

LTE OnOff in the market, dials into the support menu (or whatever it's called) where you can change the radio. A bit of a pain, but better then having a dead battery 6 hours into your day.
This doesn't work on the Droid 4, the only option is to turn off the radio entirely.

Works for me just fine. It's not a widget, just a short cut. Select the drop down arrow about half the way down to see the different bands.

I'm not real up on the ICS leaks, I am still running GB, but I dl'd "4g toggle" from the market and it works awesome.
Thanks, I didn't see there was a menu there.

no problem, glad to help.
Thx for this thread I've been trying to figure out how to disable 4g. I downloaded the 4g toggle but it just links me back to my original choices of global gsm or lte/cdma. Any further ideas?

You need lte onoff as I stated earlier. Motorola has seen fit to remove the option in settngs to run on cdma only. the app I listed takes you into a support menu allowing you to select the bands through a drop down.
Widgets will most likely not work as the setting is in the framework and is not easily changed.

Works perfectly! Many thanks:good:
So I have been playing around with the LTEOnOff and was wondering if there was any information on the different types of radio's we can choose from.
EDIT:Since I poster this I found a neat webpage with a lot of information about the different radio signals.

Hello
The data Icon only shows GSM. Independent of the received network like "H", "3G" or "GPRS". Is there a way to get that changed?

Have you tried using super CID? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315549 It works for the AT&T version to change the data icons to stock.
FYI

Thanks for the link - The CID Download link doesn't work & I doubt if it will support the Sprint variant as well.
I have US Cellular N920R4 (NOTE 5) and trying to get it to work on Cricket -
Step 1- The phone was factory reset before putting in Cricket sim, after booting under setting >> Mobile Networks>> Network mode - I set it to LTE/GSM/UMTS
Step - 2 Under Network Operators - I selected the manual option and searched for providers - the search showed AT&T, Verizon and US cellular - I selected AT&T
Step -3 Under APN - I manually added Cricket APN -
Now I do get AT&T for a short time, I'm able to make and receive calls and SMS - Also get 4G in my menu - but after a few minutes I loose AT&T and the phone reverts to Verizon -
Can someone suggest what could be the issue ?
Also can someone share how to get to hidden menu band option (On other versions it is possible to get to it using *#2263#) and is there an option to change "System Select" under mobile networks to be changed from "CDMA roaming mode" ?

There's an app in the playstore called Samsung Phone Info and it has a function that will launch the full service mode root menu allowing you to get to all the available service screens, I'd just search that and download the free version by vndnguyen....

Yes : download activity launcher
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Then stretch for "hidden", and open the app that go to a phone icon named hidden something.
Then, in the hamburger menu choose the band selection mode, pick the bands you want to lock to, then activate it
go back to "Network mode" from the hamburger menu and pick "band selection mode".
That's all

Mate, thanks but i am on android 9 with note 9 rooted with the last updates and samsung removed that hidden network app with the last updates. I installed it manually as a system app yet it didn't work .I mean the root permissions in the file system not the typical permissions apps ask for camera, contacts etc when installing or launching. Also I heard something called "hns" removed with the updates and that's why it doesn't work if i even install that app manually.
You can also read what i've comment about this issue in this topic, just look at the last messages.

No problem friend thanks a lot for your try.
Will this work for unrooted stock oreo to lock data from switching towers constantly?
I have a N9600 (TGY) device and I tried to manually select bands using instructions from this video:
youtube.com/watch?v=K-DN0q64lRw
I have the latest version of Android 10 available for this device.
I decided I'd rather NOT fiddle with these settings further and reverted everything... Now after a reboot, my device refuses to connect to the network. For example, I cannot make a phone call... Only after going to "Call Settings & Selecting "Automatic", I'm able to make phone calls again.
Any idea how to set everything back to default settings? I don't like the fact that the phone cannot make calls after a reboot as of now ... I'm using this device on AT&T, so what should the default selection be?
Thanks

This app lets you lock 5G/LTE/4G/3G/2G bands on most Samsung phones running the latest One UI updates: https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/g49ocr/app_samsung_band_selection_app/
After much headache with this issue, I found a method that works where the "Band Selection" menu doesn't work (this method is confirmed working on my Galaxy Note 8). Thanks @fasho:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-lock-lte-band.3681480/#post-74325453
TL;DR: Get org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo (from an apk mirror as it is no longer available on the play store), and then run ServiceMode as root. Follow the linked instructions further to disable unwanted LTE bands.
