Wipe everything
Install global developer zip file
When reboot, twrp says no OS installed
Help pls
if the recovery method of flashing the full rom fails, then you have no other recourse except to flash via fastboot method.
take note of this "Please wipe all data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack. If you upgrade from MIUI Stable ROM based on Android M to MIUI Developer ROM based on Android N, please flash it via Fastboot update. Recovery update might cause upgrade failure."

Did you just tried rebooting to system after flashing? I also got that error "no OS installed" in TWRP so many times, but rebooting to system with no problems at all.

Unmounted system before flashing ROM .
in my opinion why just not use rom from xioami.eu because you have custom recovery .

The reason is, that you can't flash OFFICIAL Chinese (Developer/Stadle) Rom with cusom recovery (TWRP). But you can flash anything esle. Like Lineage OS. If you want to use MIUI Rom, you have to flast a Xiaomi.eu ( developer or stable) rom. NOT OFFICIIAL CHINESE !!! If you prefer Official Chinese Global rom, you must download a FASTBOOT rom (not recovery) , and flash it in fastboot mode, with MiFlash.
instead of beating around the bush, why not follow the official procedure of flashing an official miui rom
if you are coming from a custom rom, as specified herein?:
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
When can we expect official RR for mi max 2?
It was already available for redmi note 4 which is having the same processor.
You have to wait for custom Rom until miui release the kernel source which is must have to develop a custom one. please be patience...
If you flash rom with out error, Even no os installed warning, you can boot into system without problem.
While trying to go from a custom ROM to the official global stable, I'm having issues. I used Mi Flash to install the rom with no issue, but when I boot into TWRP with fastboot, it tells me the data is encrypted. I have no lock screen on and I can't decrypt it because default_password didn't work. I'm going to try to explain to the best of my ability exactly what I was trying and what I did to get here.
Starting point: Epic Rom
I used mi flash tool to install official Nougat Global Stable ROM.
I accidentally lock my bootloader doing this, but no big deal, I unlock it again with the tool xiaomi provides.
I guess the official ROM has it's own recovery, since it overwrote TWRP.
I reflash TWRP, and use fastboot to boot into it.
I wanted to install magisk, so I boot the phone, download it, and boot back into TWRP from the command line.
Here's where I notice the data is encrypted and I can't access internal storage to install magisk.
I start over and reflash the global rom and twrp, this time not setting a lock screen at all.
Still encrypted.
Wipe userdata and repeat.
Still encrypted.
I'm lost at this point. I can't even flash a custom ROM because I again can't get into my internal storage in TWRP to install it. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm a bit desperate at this point
After a little bit more searching, it seems it automatically encrypts if supersu isn't installed. Is there a way around this for magisk?
I recently had the same issue with the global stable rom, twrp wouldn't show anything in my internal storage. How I fixed it was miflashing the latest global stable developer rom instead an then twrp , an that did it..... I was able to see internal storage. For some reason the global stable doesn't allow you to see the storage. Hope that helps

Brilliant, this worked! My issue now is that, as far as I can tell, developer ROM isn't on MIUI9? That seems strange, but I guess I may go back to a custom ROM in this case.

I know I'm on the latest an it is miui8, which I'm fine with... The device runs great an has everything I need. Just a heads up I didn't shut the updater off an left my phone on wifi. When I woke up in the morning it auto updated to the newest rom an I lost twrp, SU, xposed.... Had to re-do all that. Everything worked but just a pain. You don't get that auto update running a custom rom.
Hi everyone,
I'm right now facing the issue that none of the flashed custom ROMs can boot.
I'm right now on MIUI 10.0.2.0, the bootloader is unlocked and TWRP was installed, but since I returned to the original global ROMs via XiaomiMiFlash Tool I think it's not on the decide anymore.
I tried to install Havoc and Pixel Experience.
What is the correct procedure to flashed the roms ?
I followed the instructions on the Havoc OS Thread for "Coming from MIUI 10.0.2.0". After installing the device kept boot looping and basically "flashing" the MI Logo with the "Unlocked" Label at the bottom.
Thank you for your time and help.
This could be a problem with your data partition and encryption. You need to full wipe your data (you loose all your sdcard data, so backup as much as possible) with twrp.
I used "Format Data" under "Wipe" in TWRP.
And I tried to run the decryption zip.
Same thing.

Try this:
1. Flash MIUI PIE 8.12.20 global Rom DON'T REBOOT
2. Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt Here DON'T REBOOT
3. Wipe Data,System,Cache Your Data will be lost
4. Flash HavocRom + Gapps
5. Reboot and Enjoy
the link to the post is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/prepare-t3841106
I followed that instructions and now I'm at least seeing the boot logo, but its stuck at the animation.
I left it for 1 hour and it's not booting...
What can I do ?
Since in my last post I made a complete mess out of my first time trying to root my K20 and install lineage I wanted to my make a separate post so that I can list all the steps I need to take to correctly setup my phone how I want it.
What I actually want
A rooted device
Lineage OS
Minimal excess files (A clean Install)
Current Steps
Unlock and flash recovery
Backup
Format Data! (It's important if you come from Miui)
Install Q Firmware + vendor
Install LineageOS followed by gapps
Reboot into system and setup device.
Reboot into recovery and flash magisk
Profit???
Feel free to tell me how stupid I am and what I need to add to the list or steps I should take to make this process better.
I also dont know if its possible to get recovery and rom on android 10 versions.
Thanks
Did these steps not work?

They may work as it but I was just wondering if anyone could go into more detail or if there was a better approach and from what Kollachi said there clearly is a better way that what I said.
Since I'm in stock ROM and haven't ever flashed AOSP ROM in this phone I'll just back off lol

I like the details steps but I have a few questions.
(Unlock and flash recovery) From what I can tell there are two recovery's Orange fox and TWRP
(Format data) Just format data or are there other sections I should format/wipe
(Install Q Firmware + Vendor) I have no idea what Q firmware is or what vendor you are referring to
(Install Lineage + gapps) Is there a specific version from the Mi 9T pro since the official site doesn't list it
Any of the two recoveries will work. Q firmware means Android Q. Wile data/cache dalvik that's it. Regarding firmware, there's a clear topic of Lineage OS in K20 Pro forum which is still in unofficially state

1. You can take what you want. Orangefox is based on TWRP.
2. Format data is needed if you come from miui. If you did it you are good to go. But it wouldn't be false to wipe system, dalvic, cache
3.https://downloads.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/raphael/ --> Take 10.4.6.0 or 10.4.8.0 (Android 10 = Q)
4. No there is no specific version.

I would recommend the latest TWRP from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...icial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363/post79823568
The dev is an official TWRP dev, so this version, or something very close to this, is likely to become official in the future.
OrangeFox is a heavily modified TWRP and has a lot of added functionality specific to MIUI. If you wanted to stay on stock MIUI, but debloat and have root, etc. then OF would be the better choice, as it has functionality that lets it play nicely with MIUI (it can remain installed when OTA updates are installed)
As someone new to flashing on Android, I would suggest downloading a 10.4.x fastboot ROM from the site I pointed to in your other post, then follow the same procedure to flash the ROM.
Make your choice based on Kollachi's info and what's important to you (HD Netflix - choose Indian, or a working NFC - choose Chinese)
However you MUST change the flash option to 'clean all'.
At this point you've got a nice squeaky clean starting point.
Boot into the ROM at least once, though it's not necessary to go through all the setup.
After that follow Kollachi's steps but you can now ignore the step to flash vendor and firmware as it's all part of the fastboot ROM already flashed.
Wipe cache and dalvik, format data.
There is no official LOS for this phone yet. Hopefully it will go official in the future.
For now just get the current Android 10 based LOS from here.

When ever I think I have the process memories and I follow the steps on my screen I still somehow **** this up and I cant understand how.
My current steps include
Flash the fastboot with the ROM that you linked me in my first post
Flash the recovery with TWRP (Every time I have then tried going back into TWRP is failed to work and prompted the original MIUI recovery)
Install the TWRP zip from custom recovery to try and fix the issue above (Only had this work once on orangefox and then never had success again)
So now I try to just flash the recovery and boot to it using CMD and it works fine
Move the lineageOS files from my PC to the phone SDCard
If I wipe data and the caches as suggested then the lineageOS zip is now go and I am back to flashing the fastboot ROM to restart the process
I know this might seem like im either stupid or just not getting it but could you or anyone else please make a bullet pointed list with links to what I have to download in order to actually achieve this since I cant do anything correctly even when trying to follow the steps.
(Im going to sleep since I have been trying to do this for hours now and I will check reply's in the morning.
Thanks for the help so far EVERYONE

I just told you what I have done and I'm running it so far without issues.
Robbo just said you should flash the whole Chinese or indian rom but I don't like his steps because:
1. File is much bigger
2. MiFlash is just meh
3. If you forgot to change the flash process you are bricked if you don't take the correct firmware for your phone.
Default option in Miflash is set to "Clean all and lock". Every time you use it, you will need to change it into "clean all" or something other.

Yes flashing the whole fastboot ROM does add the risk, if you forget to change the flash option, but you are guaranteed a clean slate and so less likely to have any niggling issues that nobody else has. I would bet large sums of money that many of the issues you see on here, where only one person has some problem and everyone else is fine, would be solved by fastboot flashing MIUI before installing the ROM of choice.
If you know what you're doing and know when you'll be OK with what you've got and know when it's best to start clean, then going with the vendor and firmware is easier.
But if your unsure and new to flashing on Android phones, I will always suggest go with the overkill and know you've got the clean slate to start with.

It's sounds like the main issue is stock recovery is being restored. This is something that MIUI will do when it boots up.
When you first install TWRP you cannot boot into MIUI before booting to TWRP as you instantly lose TWRP. So you need to boot into TWRP first in order to do something to prevent it being overwritten.
Options are
1
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP.img
2 Use the button combo whilst still in fastboot - power and vol+, hold both until the phone vibrates and the initial logo appears.
Now to keep TWRP you need to either flash a custom ROM, flash Magisk or flash the dm-verity script.
In your case you want to flash LOS, so now you've booted into TWRP go ahead and continue with the steps given.
Also, wait until after you've formatted data before copying everything over. You can access the phone as an MTP device when in TWRP, so you'll be able to connect it to a PC and drag everything across, or you can stick everything on a USB OTG pen, if you have one, TWRP can read data from them too.

The exact problem I have is that I cant transfer any files to the device after formatting the data. I follow the steps correctly and I get into TWRP successfully and then everyone has told me to format the data then install lineage but I cant install the OS if formatting the data removes it.
Get device into fastboot
Flash revocery with TWRP
power the device off
hold volume up and power
boot into custom recovery
format data
move lineageOS onto my device
install lineageOS
reboot
done.
This is the list of exact actions I am doing with no results is there something I am missing or something that is in the wrong order.

After format data, reboot your device into recovery again and transfer LOS, gapps and all files you need.
Format data kills the storage.
I always used to reboot from TWRP back in to TWRP after formatting data, but I've recently seen someone saying that they just unmount data then remount it again. I haven't tried it myself but it certainly makes sense and would be quicker too.

After a long post I have finally finished the process successfully. This was pretty educational for me since I didn't understand any of this at the start I would like to thank everyone who reply's and all the information that you have provided.
need help guys, i stuck in bootloop.
- fastboot rom global china V10.3.17.0 PFKCNXM

- wipe cache/dalvik

- flash gapps nano
- reboot
- stuck bootloop
Hello,
I am trying to install lineage OS on my 9t pro, but it fails every time.
I managed to unrbick my phone thanks to miflash, but now i'm totally stuck
So, i'm on miui Global 11 QFKEUXM, and i can install twrp-3.3.1-22-raphael-mauronofrio.
Then, if I try to flash a rom with it (i also tried RevengeOS), i'm going to be stuck in a bootloop, until it goes to twrp again.
When it appens, i can't access files from my computer anymore, all folders seems to have random names like "uzehfj405Cuh5635azP5IUHDPuZ".
So i have to use miflash to go back to miui. I don't know what's wrong i've spent hours trying, can someone help me ?
Thanks and have a nice day
EDIT :
Indeed i didn't format data in TWRP. I tried to, and i'm still in that boot loop unfortunatly.
But this time, file system seems to be ok because i can access internal storage from my computer
EDIT2 :
I think the problem come from GAPPS. If i format then flash lineage without GAPPS, I can boot it
But if then i try to flash them, it won't boot anymore.
I am using the "nano" package here https://sourceforge.net/projects/opengapps/files/arm64/beta/20191114/
Is this incorrect ?
hi,
have already format data in TWRP?

See bro When we buy the android the the storage is
Encrypted , when you unlock the bootloader and install TWRP it doesn't decrypt the internal storage that's why only the stick rom i.e. Miui can access the storage , here is what you need to do ..
Install TWRP then go to wipe then click on format data and type yes this will decrypt the internal storage and so that any custom rom you install can access the data ..
Make sure that you format data then reboot trwp and then connect the phone to of transfer the files and install the rom and gappa it will boot just fine
Although for some reason when i install the LOS my storage gets decrypt again I say you try the EvoX rom which doesn't require gappa just flash the rom and the firmware
Also there is some force decrypt zip file that lets you decrypt the internal storage because sometime install the firmware may encrypt your storage again so flash that DFE file you will find that in telegram grp ..
Basically you can't boot into rom and see files on computer cause your storage is encrypted and only Miui can decrypt it unless decrypted ...
Hope it help
Every time when you want to flash aosp or other custom rom you need to format data ( wiping isnt enough because of encryption) when coming from stock miui or miui eu rom.
Best way is to read instruction of rom you want to install.
My steps are when coming from stock miui:
Install twrp
Boot to twrp
Format data with yes
Reboot to twrp
Copy rom you want to install to internal storage, usually you need also rom+vendor file of latest stable miui.
Flash vendor+rom of stable miui
Wipe dalvick+ cache
Flash custom rom (los, evolutionx...)
Wipe dalvick+ cache
Flash gapps if needed
Wipe dalvick + cache
Reboot to system, set your system to your liking
Then reboot to twrp to flash magisk ( if you like to be rooted, otherwise continue to use rom as is)
Best is to read install instructions of rom you want to install

Maybe it's the vendor. What device do you have (china, global, etc.)?

I think it's a global one, but now i have doubts... Is there a way to be sure ?
In the MIUI i managed to flash with miflash, it's sayed MIUI GLOBAL

if it s a mi9t pro its probbably the global version, to make sure try downloading the firmware and vendor from here https://downloads.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/raphael/ . try downloading the global and indian version and try both since you dont know whihch model you have. also dont forget to format before trying anything. hope i helped

I'm a bit affraid to flash indian version, it's says to not cross flash ^^
I’d flash MIUI.eu before lineage, let it boot and then do the whole process to install lineage. Yo don’t have nothing to lose.

well i d rrecommen you put your device in fastboot, go to aXiaomiADBFastbootTools and it ll show you your model number or use TOOLSALLINONE. Search ythese on xda and youll find the links and that will definetly show you your model number

What fastboot commands should I use to get the model number ? I tried fastboot oem get-psid but it didnt work
When I boot MIUI, in the settings its "MIUI GLOBAL QFKEUXM". So it's correct isn't it ?

I think the problem come from GAPPS. If i format then flash lineage without GAPPS, I can boot it
But if then i try to flash them, it won't boot anymore.
I am using the "nano" package here https://sourceforge.net/projects/ope...beta/20191114/
Is this incorrect ?
