Hi, I live in a place where there's very poor network coverage and my SGS often looses signal. And here's the problem: when I check battery consumption in the settings I can see that the phone is often awake (for about 1,5 hour overnight) and looses battery like 3% an hour even when I don't use it and is supposed to be asleep. Is it possible that it is searching for available networks during that time and that is why it is awake and eats battery?
I do not have data on, nor wifi or gps. I'm running SLIM 3.3 with 0.67b Devil.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
about one week ago I noticed that battery in my N1 was empty in 5-6 hours after charging.
My first though was that 4 years battery is just old. I bought new one (1800 mAh). Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
Battery stats didn't show anything interesting. So to check what exactly drain my battery I had to disable one by one GPS, WiFi and finally 3G. I noticed that if phone uses 2G network then power consumption is normal. But regardless of GPS, WiFi, BT etc.. seems that only 3G is guilty.
My question is why after 4 years of using N1 suddenly 3G drains my battery? I have turned it on since the begining.
I already tried:
buy new battery
remove battery stats
full wipe
ROM: 2.3.7 GB by euroskank CM7.2-20131028.2353-N1 FuZZ_
PS. It shouldn't be connected, but at that time I started to use my N1 to deploy application which I develop. It uses localization (GPS/network) and Google Play Services.
It seems that something in 3G module is broken. It can takes 40% battery in 2 hours.
In the same time 2G takes 1%.
Strange... 4 years it worked very well till now
Hello,
I am currently ON Liquid Smooth Rom with AD optimization and iodak kernel v10
With The current ROM/Kernel and any other ROM I have tested I have about .5 % or less battery consumption per hour "3G Network Mode with data Off" and thats when the signal is good but when I am in a place where the mobile signal is bad I got over 4% of battery consumption.
Is this normal?
And is there any solution for that problem?

Yes it is since phone (if set to 2g/3g network mode) will alwayse try to find 3g network therefore in area with bad reception phone will suck up battery to reach 3g.If you dont use data connection or in area with bad signal switch to 2G it can save a lot of juce.A LOT.
I've been running marshmallow since the stock images were posted and I always got very nice battery life with doze. As in, I wouldn't have to charge the phone until the next morning. Since last week, however, cell standby is using significantly more battery. Yesterday, I took the device off the charger at 0900, and by 2100 I was already at 25% battery. Screen on time was only 2 hours, and cell standby had more usage than the screen. No matter my signal quality, it seems cell standby is eating my battery. Phone isn't even showing as awake! I also am always connected to WiFi and using T-Mobile WiFi calling.
I know a few users have reported a similar issue since marshmallow, does anyone have an idea of why cell standby is killing battery even though time without signal is 0? Time active is also always under 20 min. Since I'm using WiFi calling, I'd think the phone wouldn't even be searching for a voice signal anyway.
My signal has been worse than abysmal since switching to Marshmallow. I uninstalled Fit, Pay, and Google+ and it got better strangely enough but i still have issues from time to time...

The same happened to me, at the begining with marshmallow (chroma and francokernel) always more than 5h SOT and easy deep sleep... but now, the last night at 1:00AM battery was at 100%, at 5:00AM was 84%... and no wakeloks... i'll take some screenshots
Same here. I swear the battery is draining faster but no wakelock issues.
Plus I believe there is an issue with the signal reporting. Where I know that I get full signal the phone can report zero bars. Switch to airplane mode and back, then suddenly the signal displays correctly!
+1 My signal is terrible anymore, and I certainly was much better on the preview images
At my desk at work, same spot I sit my phone everyday would be in the mid 80s and right now it sits at -103....hit airplane mode and it resets....for a few

I'm having the same issues. Overall, pretty solid battery life but cell standby drainage was high. Been searching forums with no such luck. Sounds like it might just be and Android issue I have to hope gets fixed in an update? I'm using T-Mobile wi-fi calling. I'm in areas with strong LTE signal, but compared to my old phone, the amount of "bars" I'm seeing seem lower and sometimes non existent, although I spent no time without signal.

Hey, I noticed on my new GT2 poor standby time, somewhere I read that it might be caused by VoLTE is this possible?
Try using settings > battery > advanced settings > app quick freeze and select apps that you don't neet to run in background.
I did that but I continue having battery drain, only 3-4h of display time.
Well I have to check this tomorrow but it seems that VoLTE is a problem for me.
might not help you too much
but for me, with VOLTE turned on the SOT is pretty good
like 7+
In my case, with VOLTE off and all apps with quick freeze I have less than 4h of SoT, what I can do?
PD: screen at 120Hz, of course.
i mean its super hard to give any recommendation
it really depends on the apps you are using
if you are gaming with 4h SOT it drains much more than if you are just browsing
take a look at what drains your battery and try to optimize there
I have Wifi on and only use the phone for emails, web, whats and calls. Never playing or heavy tasks.
also if your signal strength is not optimal it burns a lot of battery
if you are having 5g enabled but no 5g contract or 5g in your area, disabling 5g is also saving something because the phone stops to constantly search for 5g
For me - on 4g network, with VoLTE off is better - screen 120 Hz. I also switched off those options to report customer experience.

I have signal off, only wifi and 5g off.
It is much better - for me without volte option ON (I read somewhere in review of different phone that snap 888 dont like volte sometimes maybe it is also firmware related problem ) - 4 h SOT and still 55% battery , mixed network 1/3 wifi + 2/3 4G . With gps off .

yes + auto brightness + AOD on (black theme)
Then I have battery drain problem, how I can fix it?
Please understand that SOT will never be the same between uses. And should never be compared between users, we all do things differently with our phones. And, also, if anyone mentions his SOT please mention the total usage time, like I have 2days usage, 3h SOT, 30%battery remaining, and this are generally good. You can't have 6h SOT and 2days usage, but you can have 6h sot with 10h total usage and 0% battery remaining! And post screenshots that sustain your affirmations.

Man, yesterday I got 1h 10min of SoT with 9h of phone use at 50% of battery, as I said, I only use the phone for emails, web, whats and one call of 4min, always with WiFi. Its evident I have a battery drain problem, indeed, in idle the consumes batery all the time, my old realme X2 had better battery administration 3 years after I buyed it.
I cheeked all the permisions and syncronitzations and is all ok, maybe the only solution is a hard reset...
My data from last day with VoLTE on my phone needed charger about 7pm without VoLTE about 11pm.
After few days I confirm on firmware A14 - VoLTE eats batter like crazy :/ - how to report that to Realme - their forum don't look good at all :/
Try emailing: [email protected] I've sent them emails about some issues, got some replies but didn't solve anything... Try your luck )
