Question about latest rooting and custom roms on note 4

Hi guys,
I just replaced my note 3 after 14 days and switched to the note 4. I was liking the note 3 and already rooted it and had a great custom rom on it. But something was calling me to get the note 4, so here I am. This is probably answered somewhere, and I tried searching the threads, but I'm getting old and I think I just can't find anything anymore. So quick question, I'll probably run stock for a couple of days just to get a feel for it as I usually do but I wanted to know is there any concerns I should have for rooting the note 4? besides the Knox issue, which is not really a concern for me. I'm currently on stock android 4.4.4, with ANJ7 firmware. I'm seeing a 128.37 MB software update from tmobile, anyone know what this update is? and if I should not download it , because of rooting concerns? Not sure if its just a security update or something...
Thanks for any help given from a long time xda member since before android on my ancient mogul windows mobile pda .
Ok I think I might have answered my own question, I couldn't wait no longer so just did the update and its just updated the firmware to K4, which I see is already supported on the latest custom roms.

The Note 4 and Note 3 are basically exactly the same as far as ROOTING
is concerned and both are rooted in the same manner exactly.
Here is a direct download link for the latest cf-autoroot which has everything
you need to root the N9010 Note 4, it has the windows odin and cf-autoroot
which is specifically designed to work with the Note 4 N910T:
http://tinyurl.com/jwoxrma
The 128.37 MB software update will upgrade your phone to the latest NK4
baseband and I would highly recommend to go ahead and make the upgrade.
Good luck and have a great evening.

I'm on 5.0.1 Lollipop only because I downloaded the update from XDA and installed using ODIN. It is was a very easy process and does NOT void your warrany as you are not rooting the phone.
Bought my phone from Three last week and it came with 4.4.4.
To many problems with lollipop at the moment I am rolling back to 4.44.

I might try that,I haven't heard of it before though so I'll have to look into it a little bit more. Another question, let's say the official lollipop update comes out. How would I get around downloadin that after I uninstall the unofficial update?
I'm in UK and i recently update to 5.0.1 with odin ... yes, the warranty was NOT void but battery life it's quite poor ... i will wait for official UK 5.0.1 for EE. Untill then i will downgrade to 4.4.4 ...
I'm on BOC3 and find the battery to be excellent. Definately a better build than DBT.

make sure you use the 910F version else you'll risk bricking it. Theres plenty of instructions on here. Very easy.

I think this is the netherlands but works fine on my f unlocked UK.
Has to be said I was disappointed with the initial german release, the contacts app crashing constantly was a real PITA, I rolled back since then and found KK is far more stable.
Think what has been disappointing from Samsung is they are being pretty poor in software roll out planning, it is bad now however I am wondering how it will be after the S6 is launched globally.

It won't be "formatted", you'll have to do the factory reset yourself and since it is an official ROM from Samsung you phone will be eligible for later OTA's

Your internal/external SD cards will not be formatted, and you should still be able to receive OTAs after flashing. There is more information and tutorials on XDA/elsewhere on the internet ☺
I'm on 5.0.1 on BOC3. BOB4 wasn't anything fantastic after the initial hype of it being Lollipop died, but BOC3 was a noticeable upgrade to even BOB4. In my experience anyway. I have an unbranded 910F and flashed the BOC3 via ODIN. I'd highly recommend it!

I'm on O2, so still 4.4.4 at the minute but I've read that 5.0.1 should be out next week according to a veteran member of the O2 forums.

Disappoints me that its taking this long, having swapped from a Nexus 5. Feels like we're jumping through hoops just to get an update that's already outdated.

You recommend BOC3? So how does this fash work? Is it just necessarily an ota update you would get? And is it completely reversible?

Upgrade to 6.0 or Stay on 5.1.1?

Hi, so finally the N9208 has received the marshmallow 6.0 update. However, should I upgrade from 5.1.1 to 6.0 or stay on 5.1.1? suggestions welcome
Can't say for others, but battery life has been sh*t for me in MM. Lost around 20% overnight. The phone has not been rooted whatsoever so probably not the efuse thingy being broken.

Found out my NEW Note 4 I brought is on Android 5.1.1 (DOK2) - Should I return it?

I just brought a NEW T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and upon powering up the phone for the first time I found out the phone was on Android 5.1.1 (N910TUVU2DOK2).
Should I return this phone?
The reason I am considering returning this phone is because it is my understanding that the SM-N910T on Android 5.1.1 CANNOT do the following:
1. Cannot be rooted (partially or completely).
2. Cannot be downgraded to Android 4.4.4.
3. Cannot have any apps installed that would unlock the mobile hotspot feature without having to go through your carrier to pay extra.
Can anyone confirm if the above restrictions are correct?
I did the same thing in january..I was so damn excited about getting a N910T that I thought I could do whatever I wanted with and I didn't read up (well enough) on developement and ended up with DOK2. It is true you can't downgrade....as of right now....but I have never had any issue at all with root or apps that require root. As far as the the hotsppt mod is concerned, I can't help too much with that info because b I use straight talk...but i think it's a hit or miss situation...I think the two most popular roms for our phones (Tekhds and Overdrives) have the mod built in but I'm not 100% sure.. but I think the only way you could get one without DOK2 would be used

You cannot downgrade, but as far as rooted there should be no problem doing that.

Yea, you can be rooted on Android: 4.4.4 -- 5.0.1 (see this thread from the first couple of threads stickied: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55989825 ). It would seem root on 5.1.1 is not possible.
On the offchance I am incorrect, please feel free to link the thread showing that 5.1.1. can be rooted on SM-N910T as I have already gone through all the sticky threads looking,....

YES! 5.1.1 CAN be rooted. Just download the newest version of CF-Auto-Root. Do NOT use the one in the thread above/ below. It's outdated. Search that thread however to find others who HAVE rooted their 5.1.1, like me.

I just got my phone and I am on the same version as the op. I just want to make sure that I do not brick my phone when flashinng. I am planning on using the latest version of twrp and cf autoroot.
So for twrp I'm going to flash
twrp-3.0.2-0-trltetmo.img.tar
And for cf autoroot I am going to flash
CF-Auto-Root-trltetmo-trltetmo-smn910t.zip
Which is the newest version. Just want to double check that I am not making a brick

I don't even think I need 6GB, 4GB is plenty and I'm sure the 6GB issue will be fixed and knowing that Oxygen OS is opened and the device has unlocked Bootloader it beats waiting for Note 4 to get custom MM rom.

downgrade to original Note 5 andriod software

My Note 5 is not happy with the software version Android 7 how can I put it back to the original version of software supplied with the phone?
What exactly version do you want? Are you on stock or custom? What is your device?
I was not pleased with how my phone was acting on 7.0 so I downgraded to 6.0.1 XSA using Odin but it wasn't long before I let it take the OTA back to 7.0 because I felt the pros outweighed the cons.

Can you please explain the problems? I prefer to get back too. The ugliest thing is, that the Samsung keyboard always crashes while rotating...

When entering text into the stock messaging app it would auto space and not capitalize the first word of my text. If I would shift for a capital letter for a word it would not capitalize that word until I backed up and swiped it again. The Samsung browser which I like a whole lot will freeze at times. I have the "I" version and downloaded the XSA 6.0.1 from the app Updato.
Well, it would be a pleasure, if someone give me a hint, what's the latest 6. x Stock for the N920C.
When I'm again on 6, 7 will again come via OTA,or not?

1)You should mention coutry and csc too while asking for latest official 6.0.1 build for your device
2)And yes after downgrading to official Marshmallow 6.0.1 from Nougat 7.0, You will get OTA updates by samsung but you can prevent your device from auto updating by turning off auto-download using wifi/data from setting
I'm using Vodafone in Germany. What do you recommend?
Thanks
Back to v6

I got fed up with V7 - My battery kept running out - I kept answering calls that I wanted to reject - I lost my favourites in text messaging. - The bottom line is the battery running out all the time.
So this is what I did
My phone is a Note 5 SM-N920C and I use it in England.
I downloaded this zip file containg V6 XSG-N920CXXU2BPBA-20160309213520.zip (marked for the United Arab Emirates)
I got it from this site http://www.galaxynote5update.com/ga...are/n920cxxu2bpba-note5-sm-n920c-marshmallow/
It worked perfectly in English (not Arabic)
My battery now does the whole day again - I can reject calls again and my message favourites have come back.
The only problem i to remember to ignore the phones attempt to upgrade again to v7.
I am very happy with my phone now
