Because i imagine google assistance is not only using unnecessary battery but seems to have a mind of her own and switches on without me saying jack. Thx in advance for help for this dummy.
Its ok ive found the settings..
plss share., how did u off it..
There's a toggle switch for Google Assistant in the Google Search app's settings.
You can also permanently remove Google Assistant by switching your Google app's language to anything other than English (US).

Is this issue now solved for you?
You do not have to disable google voice typing, just the google voice typing key from in the xperia keyboard settings

What the "other shawn" was referring to was that he unchecked the google voice typing key but it will somehow auto-check later on...
The same happened to me when I unchecked but it will somehow auto-check again, so what I did was to disable the Voice Search App.
haha thanks shawnwu & gregbradley, but shawnwu understand my problem. how u disable the voice apps? like how to want to uninstall the app way from there disable?
how to disable the google voice in the keyboard?

Google Now used to respond properly to the "OK Google" hotword. But now it frequently loses that mode (even though the hotword setting is still checked off); the search bar just says "search", and the spoken hotword has no effect.
I can get the hotword detection back by rebooting the phone, but that's the only reliable method I've found. It disappears again within a day.
There's no obvious app causing the problem. The problem occurs even if no other apps are running. I don't use any other apps that detect hotwords. Phone is stock/unrooted.
Any suggestions?
I read in another forum that your language needs to be English (US) for 'Ok Google' to work. Its under Language Settings > Voice Search > Language
you should also ensure that hot word detection is checked.

Thanks, but the language setting has been US English all along, and hotword detection has been checked all along. If those things hadn't been the case, hotword detection wouldn't have worked even after rebooting the phone.
Happily, though, it's now been several days since I've seen the problem occur. I have no idea what may have changed.
Disable all third party app that's in accessibility. Lightflow, smart launcher notification, etc etc.
You might have to update the offline language pack. Go into the voice settings - offline speech recognition and under installed it should show English (US) and uninstall underneath if it's up to date. If it needs updating just click on it. If that doesn't work, uninstall the language pack and install it again.

Thanks, but nothing of that sort was ever enabled. And as mentioned, the problem seems to have fixed itself (so far).

Speak 'OK Google' Working
Is you OK Google not waking up?
Go into settings
Language and input
Change language to English US (NOT English UK)
You should be good to go...
MJ-12
Also don't use wechat pebble, it interferes with the OK Google thing.
Took me three factory resets and several app restores to figure that out
Is there a mod or a trick to keep the "ok google" from the us voice setting, but still keep my native language voice search?
Not that I know of. I think that is something that google will need to something about.

Sorry but are you saying "OK Google" should wake the phone, as in if the screen is off?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
No it cant wake the phone unfortunately.
From the home screen, say 'ok google what time is it?' for example.
There are only a few google apps at the minute that enable this speech function.

You tried to update the Google app? I also spent that and that was the solution.
Same problem here
I am also facing the same problem.
I tried everything and it isn't working.
Updating app doesn't solve the problem.
It is only working when I downgrade Google app to factory version. If then again I update the app it's not working
I do have the same problem but not always. Sometimes it recognize my voice sometimes won't. I retained my voice for several time but no use.
Mine is also working but the chances are 1% only

Hey, I had the same problem. Its solved automatically now. Its working absolutely fine from yesterday.
Ok I was able disable the OK google and it only listen when I press the mic icon. Now no matter what I do in the google app settings it's always listening. My only current option is to disable microphone permissions which isn't what I want since I can't press the mic icon and speak.
I had it setup on the note8 with android 9 to only listen when the mic icon is pressed. Got the note 9 did the same settings and it still responds when I say OK or hey google.
Currently have the microphone permissions disabled since my phone does NOT need to listen all the time. Is there a setting I am missing?
I had to remove the Google search widget to stop it from always listening. It is stupid that they removed the option to simply turn it off.

Exactly. Disable the "Google" app improve the memory and battery usage, imo
Interesting, I disabled the Google app for about 30 minutes and could not use voice with chrome so turned it back on. The mic permissions are enabled but OK google is now disabled yet I can push the mic icon and use voice for searching again.
So its exactly how I want it but a very strange way to get there. I have no clue how this worked but it did.
Well after a restart and about 20 minutes it went back to listening.
That's odd - it's definitely off on mine, but I can't find where I deactivated it! I use Nova Launcher, and there is an option in the Settings under 'Gestures and Inputs' to disable 'OK Google hotword' - maybe that's how I did it? But 'OK Google' doesn't work anywhere on my Note 9 (did this to save battery and because I have a Google Home & Mini).
EDIT: And I do have the Google App installed.
Not sure what's going on. Google runs me around when I tired to ask them. I know exactly where the setting is and its disabled but still listens for the "OK google "
Personally I would love someone with influence to get attention to this but it seems a little hit or miss on setups so not sure. I have the mic disabled.
I did do a really stupid test if my device was listening and used let's say red flag words to see if anyone was listening. Ironically the words I used are related to an event happening in my city which was horrible timing on my part but semi proved to me no one heard it.

Yes that works. The only thing I don't want is it to disable voice in chrome app which this does.
The settings to disable OK Google are there but don't function and google themselves either don't understand what I am saying or don't want to admit the setting doesn't function as it should.

It's not easy to find the option to turn off the Google assistant, but it's there.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) default apps > device assistance app
You'll want to change "device assistance app" to "none" and then "voice input" to "Google". The you should be all set.
To go a step further, you can disable the Google assistant from running at all on your device.
Google app > "more" (lower right hand corner) > settings > Google assistant > assistant
Then, at the bottom you should see "assistant devices" with "phone" listed. Select phone and then toggle Google assistant off.
This should do the trick.

I was able to do the first part of device assistant app to none. The voice input option doesn't allow me to pick just google option.
Either way this has solved my issue and is now working they I want it to. Going to try a restart and see if it persists unlike my previous attempt.
Thanks again for finding this.
I like having the search widget and be able to type or voice input my search if I don't know how to spell something. With all the news of companies admitting they listen and record voice stuff having my device always listening is very unsettling. I guess it's a little paranoid but I live in a bad part of my city and I really don't want to be red flag because I walked by a drug deal which happens all to often.
That's strange, because that exactly what it should do when you disable Voice Match, since it is said that's it's actually the "anywhere OK Google listening".
Try deleting your voice imprint on the same setting page too maybe.
I wonder why is working fine on my phone and not on others.

I have no saved voice imprint saved. At least someone was able to find a work around that was a to do what I wanted.
