Idea for Magisk modul - Magisk

Hi guys,
these days I got an idea for a Magisk modul and I want you to ask if this can be done.
Over the period of a year I change several times my cellphone, or I use two devices parallel.
Problem is, my apps can not be picked up together with my SIM card and put into the second/new device. Now my idea, there should be a module, that links a userdata partition to external SD-card. All user apps will be installed at the SD-card. Switch devices should be possible, including all user apps with all personal and latest data.
Would this be possible? THX

Unable to backup via CWM to external SD

Hi,
I have the latest FeaMod Recovery installed and a backup to the internal SD is always working.
But if I want a backup to external SD, I always get an error - mostly the samsung freezes when starting the backup (since I use SkyHigh Kernel), when I used the feamod kernel, it always said something like "Unable to backup /data"...
Does anybody know what causes this?
Thanks

Nobody an idea?

really not sure what causes this, but just backup to the internal and then connect your phone to your computer and copy the backup onto your computer so you always have a spare copy safe?
I already do that but it's annoying... do a backup 3-4 times a week...

Impossible to install apps

It's more or less one month that I have the SlimICS ROM installed on my phone and I never had any problem, but this morning suddently every time I try to install a new app, appear a message telling me that it's impossible to install the apk, and I have to free some space, but I have 600mb free.
How can I fix this issue?
thnx
Go to Settings --> Apps
Sort apps by size and move every (excluding widgets and root apps) app/game to sdcard.
Then restart phone to recovery, wipe cache, dalvik-cache, fix permissions and reboot to Android and check after few minutes if this helped.
I think your app-partition is full. Moving some apps to sd will fix your problem

Internal storage getting full by updates

It seems that whenever I install application updates for my installed applications the ram, or internal storage is consumed, until the point that all is used and doesn't allow me to download more updates, nor install more applications. Moving some applications to SD just leads to the same result: the ram is eventually saturated again.
And it seems to happen either with stock rom and Cyanogenmod. I'm with CM right now.
What a friend did was uninstalling all apps, leave those really useful and avoiding updates at all, but I don't think that as a solution.
What can I do? Thanks.
Try using scripts like Cronmod to increase your internal memory by creating an ext partition in your SD card. That should solve it. Here is the link
[SCRIPTS]CronMod-INT2EXT
What I tried to mean is, why are updates consuming always additional amounts of ram? Aren't they supposed to work by replacing old files with new ones?
First of all what your are talking about is storage, not RAM.
And in most of the cases it doesnt need more storage. The reason why it's consuming more is because it downloads the whole application and then replace the old apk. After a reboot you'll have your old amount of storage.

In most cases it doesn't need more storage...
I tried what you suggested, and I seem to have my free storage again, or almost. After updating my apps and rebooting I have about 2 extra Mb consumed. Is it common?

Quick root question?

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm new here.
I've been thinking about rooting my device for a while now, but the one thing putting me off is the fact that I have to unlock the bootloader. Not a massive issue, it's just the fact my phone will be completely wiped. Which brings me to my question. Is it possible to move what I can to the SD card, unlock the bootloader, root and then transfer my apps and files back? If not, is some sort of backup feasible?
Cheers.
No problem with the files on the external SD but you can't save the apps, you need "Titanium Backup" for that which needs root permissions ?
You will need a bit of free time but in my opinion it's worth it ?
Backup everything you can: launcher settings, widgets, check all the options on the Google account...

Twrp no access to download folder

Hi,
I am on cyanogenmod 13 (3.12 release). I downloaded Supersu and an update of the Rom to flash both. But my twrp (latest release) does only show root directory and empty sdcard folders. I do not find the folder where my downloads are located.
I did a clean install of cm13 and was asked if I like my sdcard formated as internal storage. I clicked yes. Don't know if this info is important.
Anybody can help me out of here? Thank you.

That's the problem, when you set it as internal u can't access it's files via twrp(check if sd card was unmounted) or set it as a download folder for uc browser etc, the sd card will be formatted, this option was actually meant for devices having 4gb internal storage, I would recommend to format it as portable storage which is The only solution if you want to download files from the internet to ur sd card and access it via twrp... It's basically like swapping internal and external storage, or u need to use ur internal storage for downloading files, music etc. If i N don't flash supersu, gives you bootloop, enable root via developer options.Hope this helps.
Thank you very much! That helps a lot. As I am always running out of internal memory I like the option to have the sd as internal extra storage. I also did not know that I can easily enable root in the developer options.
So I just copied the new zip to data/media and flashed it.
Thx again!
