Recently tried using a oneplus 3t, but when I inputted the codes in the dial-pad for factory testing things such as the lcd display, proximity sensor, etc. the phone simply returned me to a blank dial-pad. Any ideas on why that is?
Note: oneplus doesn't sell their products directly in our country so the 3t I tried was from a somewhat respected reseller.
So you typed *#800# and nothing happened?
Restart it

Hi, I recently purchased a Nexus 6 (64gb) through Motorola and I have a sneaking suspicion that I was sold a refurbished model instead of a new one. Given the high demand and low inventory I wouldn't be surprised if I was.
First off, the packaging was questionable. The plastic that normally covers the screen was not perfectly clear. It had scuffs on it. Secondly, there were particulates(not sure what it was) all over the box interior and phone. Now, the 2 weeks into owning the phone it is having issues that could not be resolved by a factory reset our flashing the factory images. Flickering screen, phone randomly shutting off, stuck pixels, etc. I've spoken to Motorola support and they offered to replace it, but only for a refurbished unit and refused to send a new unit which kind of seems unreasonable since I haven't even had the phone a month.
I did some research online and learned about the RTN menu which displays the Reconditioned Status which is supposed to be accessed by typing ##786# (aka ##RTN#) into the dialer. When I type it in I get an error stating the following: Connection problem or invalid MMI. Is there act way to access the RTN menu? Does it even exist on this phone. Want to make sure all my ducks are in a row before I call them out on it.
That's actually normal. to get dust and scuffs. Great quality control isn't it?
It sounds like it does have a hardware issue though I'd call them up to RMA it. As far as I know they are only RMAing with new units. I have not seen anyone get a refurb and the one I got was new in the box still.
My M9 won't auto rotate the screen any more. Tried reboot. Toggling the setting, tried calibrating the g-sensor in display settings. When calibrating, the vertical level moves, but the horizontal does not budge. If I open G maps, right away it asks me if I meant to shake my device, and therefore initiate "feedback". I didn't even move the phone at ALL.
I am stock and havent had the phone past 30 days. Any ideas before I head back to T-Mobile?
Pretty much same thing happening to me, I work as a tech for Sprint and I noticed none of my motion launch gestures working. Co worker told me to run the hardware diagnostics, G-sensor failed. No motion gestures work, screen orientation doesn't change, nada. About to order a replacement device, but facing the dilemma of having a brand new phone <30 days owned, and having to order a refurb device. Kinda bummed.
Same issue, Have had my VZ M9 for 6 weeks. While i was using it, no less, G sensor failed, no rotate. Tried everything i can find to fix including resets of G-Sensor, recalibrate on board diagnostics, Boot to bootloader and reset to factory( complete wipe). etc...
Called HTS tech support. they took my info and said a supervisor would call back, never did. called back and online tech "could not contact supervisor" said my only warranty options were replace with refurb in 10-20 days after they receive my bad one, or have $500 hold on credit card for advanced replacement MINUS CHARGES FOR REPAIR or REPLACE, AT THEIR DISCRETION, WITH NO CHALLENGE BY ME.
So basically tough luck too bad so sad..Refurb with 90 day warranty or nothing.
UH OH policy only counts for "damaged" phone, not warranty issues...
caveat emptor..
I got my Mi Mix from China/HK (not sure which) from NIS-store in November. The phone has been glorious with the exception of the fingerprint reader.
I enter my fingerprint, one finger, whether once or multiple times, the result is the same. Immediately afterwards it reads well, a couple of hours later it's hit and miss. Half a day later it will not read my fingerprint at all. I've flashed every ROM, BL unlocked, installed TWRP, rooted and installed EU ROM. Cleared cache, davik and user data. I used water and a soft cloth to wipe the fingerprint reader and washed my hands until they're raw.
To compare, I recently bought the US version of the Huawei Mate 9. This phone has lots of problems and is going back, but the fingerprint reader is 99% accurate.
1) Anyone else have this issue and how have you addressed? (I contacted the seller who supposedly, by default, offer a one year warrantly. I am dubious.
2) Anyone know of a repair shop, US or China/HK that might be able to repair this?
Any input is appreciated.

Have you been facing this issue since November or have you just noticed this recently?
Before you send it out for repair, have u tried registering multiple fingers other than just your index fingers?
Can you also ask a friend or someone close, to try the fingerprint sensor. This is very unlikely, but I've heard that some fingerprint sensors aren't capable of scanning every type of fingerprint. While some people have very clear pattern\ridges on their fingerprints, it may be faint for others.
This is why I am suggesting that you ask a friend to test the sensor. This way you can make sure that it is the sensor itself which is defective.
I appreciate your response.
This has been ongoing since I received the device. I've never been able to, reliably, use the fingerprint scanner and count on activating my phone without the real possibility of having to use my pin.
The Mate 9 is the only fingerprint reader that has consistently worked. My note (4 or 5?) just wouldn't do the job and my V20 is just flaky (I guess I'm the flaky one, with so many phones).
I'll start out, renewed, with other fingers, then, if nt successful, get my wife to try the fingerprint reader.
Anyone else have additional suggestions, or email of a repair shop?

From what you say, it looks like the pattern of your fingerprint may be faint or hard to read compared to others. Because the other phones you mentioned like the Note 5 and V20 have really good fingerprint sensors. The Note 4 had a slow swipe-type sensor, so that has been a pain for me as well.
And the Mate 9 may have an excellent sensor or maybe its just the material on the surface of the Mate 9's sensor. Some glass sensors tend to attract even the slightest of moisture or sweat. I've noticed that the sensor of the Mix does this.
See if your partner's fingerprints work fine with the device. In that case, you can rule out that its a defective sensor.
And regarding repairs, I haven't seen any actual spares for the Mix due to the limited production of the device. So I doubt you'll find any repair shops that has parts to service the Mix.
Your best bet would be to send it to the seller for warranty.
Just so anyone interested will know, it's my faulty right index finger. After nearly 8 hrs using my left index finger and not a singe missed scan. I don't know what to think, except thanks to satishp for the insight and supportive words.
I had a problem in which my sensor crashed. I thought it was a hardware problem but a factory reset completely fixed the problem for me. If your device has ongoing issues across multiple ROMs, it is most likely a hardware caused issue.

Glad that I could be of help. Its good to know that the sensor isn't defective and you don't have to send it for warranty anymore. It would have been a hassle to ship your phone to China and not knowing when\if the seller would send it back.
Cheers!
The mod for this function did not disable it for me
Recently I replaced* my oneplus 3t screen as it was broken.
When asked in official service centres, the price was not affordable tbh as I could buy a new phone in it.
That is approx. 170+ USD.
So I went for a duplicate copy display.
The thing is I bricked my smartphone before, so I used the unbricking guide and installed everything from the MSM tool.
I am not sure whether the flickering is due to the display used, some problem in the digitizer or I have made some mistake in installing and its due to a software fault.
Please help me to find out whats the problem, if its the screen issue, I'll have to be accustomed with it and if not and there's some software fix, it would be great.
P.S: A noob here, sorry if this thread seems too lame but I required assistance.
If factory reset doesn't help, then it's a fault either in the new replacement screen or on the logic board of the phone. You didn't buy the cheapest replacement screen did you? These are usually second or third hand sorting with some quality flaws.

Hey, I'm running into the same problem. I had my screen replaced and the screen would flicker as it turned on. The repair guy tried a bunch of different panels but no luck, the issue persisted. Did you figure out what's causing the screen to flicker? Is it a software issue or a hardware one?
same here, i don think that it's software because it's flickering (in my op3t) even in TWRP when screen have more to refresh like it's changing the background. now i'll backup phone then Factory reset, can someone tell me how to check what type of screen is mounted? aida64 doesnt tell me anything or i just cant find
Edit:
As expected nothing changed but it's on my Op3t YOURS can be different
Hi guys, yeah its an old phone but i have a new issue which is greatly ignored by Huawei.
The fingerprint identification gone from phone.
I tried to restart, open-close oem lock, reinstall phone, factory reset so on. Some of that is done multiple times. Still cannot get it back.
If anyone fixed that issue please enlighten me.
Thanks
John
Hi John, did you change hardware in the phone? On my P30 Pro screen was changed and after that fingerprint sensor is gone and not working anymore. I don't have it in settings options, nowhere in the phone menu, like was never there. I also tried to reset, downgrade firmware and upgrade again i also bought new fingerprint sensor (it's actually camera module, not a sensor) but new one is not working as well. I found some info on net, which is not reliable, of course, but some people say that fingerprint sensor is matched (registered) with the motherboard and if you want to change it you must do it in official Huawei service, they need to pair new hardware, one with other. I didn't do it but would like to have my fingerprint sensor again, so if you found the solution please let me know, thank you.
