Hi dear all
I am your friend from Lenovo p2 forums I was having p2 phone bit unfortunately it was stolen and I have to buy a new phone Inow samsung a6+ and nokia 7 plus is Avilable at my region with approximately similar price but I am really biased to nokia 7 plus is it really a good phone what about battery life and screen what about Android one is it good enough or have any bugs is there any advise to follow on purchase
Thanks in advance for your help
I'm owning Nokia 7 plus for more than a month now.
So, I didn't expect this phone to lag in multitasking, but it does. My Xiaomi Mi A1 did not lag at all in such simple tasks. That's a major letdown for me. It's not a huge problem, but it's a fact. Maybe future updates will improve that.
Another most important thing for me, the camera. It's not bad, it's even good. It just lacks the dynamic range of flagship phones.
Considering all that I think I wouldn't buy Nokia 7 plus again and go for OP6 or HTC U11 (it costs like 25 euro more than N7P here in Poland).
Still if u want Android One then probably Nokia is your best bet.

Spot on "complaints". Other than that it's an excellent phone. However where I live the OP6 is €200 more so the Nokia is excellent for the price.

Pay extra for the OnePlus 6 if you can.I had the Nokia 7 plus and returned it.The op6 is worth the extra few quid.€400 for n7+ in europe €520 for op6,
The Nokia certainly has some bugs, check out the Nokia forums
dears nokia7 plus is the best mid ranger more than 2 months searching and i reach to a verdict that all mid rangers has problems whether lags or software problems for example a6+ has very lagy face recognition and lagy software even ones that have no software problem is made of very bad materials that is not durable
.
i know op6 or op5 is good but they are not mid rangers they are flagships for me i can't accept phone without sd card
.
i hope that in the next few days all software problems will be solved
I don't really experience these multitask issues some people seem to have. Multitasking is swift and fluent, apps are being kept in memory, ... Really no complaints at all.
As for my general impression: I came from a Lenovo P2 of which the screen broke, and while I waited on another screen to arrive I bought a Galaxy A5 2017. Sold the P2 when it was fixed, but got unhappy with the A5 (disappointing battery life, overall smoothness & speed of the UI) and bought the Nokia 7 Plus. I really couldn't be happier. Battery life is not what it was with the P2, but close enough for me to be fully satisfied and not make me want to return to my P2 anymore.
Other than that... It feels very snappy and fast overall, decent enough camera (much better than the P2), screen is absolutely fine and Android One is a big plus for me (clean Android is how I like it, even more so after my short trip to Samsung). If you come from the P2 I can only see you being absolutely satisfied.
Will it be a wise move to switch from Nokia 7 plus to Poco F1 (8GB+128GB version)??
I am quite confused as I have always been a big fan of Nokia (my first device was Nokia 1100 apart from which I have been Nokia Lumia 1320 for last four years & now 7 plus).
I also used Xiaomi Mi A1 and I like the kind of package Xiaomi offers at a very aggressive price.
I know the build quality of Poco F1 cant match the sturdy build quality of Nokia 7 plus, but it outruns 7 plus at all other aspects like the processor, RAM, clock speed, GPU etc.
I know Poco Fi doesn't have NFC. But I do not need it anyway.
Can someone please tell me if there is actually a quality difference in between Nokia and Xiaomi/OnePlus? Or if the new HMD owned Nokia is as good as Xiaomi or OnePlus (as both Nokia and Xiaomi devices are made by Foxconn)?
I would say no. Poco F1 has no NFC and no Android One.
Their service sucks.

Not only is not an Android One device, but comes with MIUI on top of Android.
Xiaomi had trouble to update to Android 8.1 their Android One phones also, so its mainly software and security updates vs power.
Same story with OnePlus.
More about it here - https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_pocophone_f1-review-1808p6.php
Why would you go from 7 plus to poco f1?
Sure, poco have much better cpu and gpu, but still its not enough not to even consider to upgrade especially when you will not see that much difference.
I would consider poco only if you want to play with the custom roms.

Poco f1 is good for secondary phone, Its cheap.
Thank you, everyone. I eventually cancelled my order after giving it a lot of thought. You guys are right. First, their service centres suck (I know from my personal experience. Though I am not sure about HMD service centres as well). Second, I am not a gamer. I only have one game installed (Football Strike by MiniClip) but I hardly play that one as well. Third, the build and display quality of N7+ is just mind-blowing. Fourth, fast OTA updates. As being an AndroidOne device, we will get monthly security updates from Google and probably Android Pie by the end of September (and I saw the kind of improvement that Android Pie brings).
But here are few things that I don't like about Nokia 7 plus.
1. The resell value of Nokia devices are very less. I checked to see how is the resell value of Nokia 7 plus. And to my surprise, the response was pretty bad. I hardly got anyone who was interested. Even the one or two people who contacted me was not ready to pay more than INR.13,000 which is half of the price I spent on the device (INR.25,999). The worst part is, the device is not even a month old. Surprisingly, I got a very good price on my Xiaomi Mi A1 which I used for 10 months. My inbox was overflooded with buyer's messages. Even the shopkeeper from where I bought my Nokia 7 plus admitted that Nokia devices don't have resell value. If my device value comes down to half within just 1 month, I don't know how much will I get after a year or so.
2. Lack of custom ROMs/Kernels. I don't know why Nokia is still not allowing us to unlock the bootloader. Even though I had to pay for unlocking the bootloader, I still can't do anything with it except for rooting.
3. Lack of back cover and screen guard. I know there are a lot of screen guards and back covers available for Nokia 7 plus, but none of them are of good quality. I really want Spigen to make a back cover for N7+
4. With all due respect to the legacy of Nokia, I still feel Nokia devices are a bit overpriced (especially Nokia 7 plus). I understand the build quality is of top class. But still, I would say they are charging us quite a high price compared to what they are offering. They need to understand, even though the Nokia legacy is still alive, but people now want more VFM products. HMD Global needs to first concentrate on what are offering against the price they are charging. If the ratio is not proportional, people will eventually turn their head away from Nokia because now they have a lot of choices. It's not like 2000 where people used to purchase Nokia devices regardless of what amount they used to charge.
I would recommend to spend a little bit more and get the OnePlus 6. It checked all the boxes according to your needs.
although not have AndroidOne, BUT:
- support ProjectTrebble
- support officialy UNLOCKING bootloader
- officialy statement that unlocking NOT Void warranty
- officialy saying "try custom ROM, try GSI(GenericSystemImage)"
- with already released kernel sources
i too think about switch from N7+ right due to above... although N7+ isnicer and better manufactory, but HMD boycott community
The Poco has DRM issues so you can't watch netflix etc on HD. The so called stereo speakers are bad. You will have issues with call quality due to bad earpiece speaker. You could spend a bit more and get the Oneplus 6 for good hardware and that Oxygen OS <3.
All in all it's your decision.

The cons for this phone start at 11:00.
just wait , we have good dev support for n7+ and it will get bigger through time
I switched from Poco F1 to Nokia 7 Plus, Why?
-Multitouch issue - Poco F1 has a severe multitouch issue that the company is not telling if is a hardware problem or a software bug and the problem seems to be in most of Indian variants.
-Software Updates: Xiaomi is a well known name for not providing good updates and on time and if your phone runs on MIUI then it's total ****.
-Customer support: most laughable aspect of Xiaomi.
Reviewers are probably paid.
I won't buy cheap phones ever, after what Xiaomi did to me, wait for OnePlus instead and always buy phones after few months.
Buy a reliable and expensive product but cheap things like Poco.

Is problem with waiting, if many good developers ignoring/selling Nokia 7 Plus, because not possibly (officialy) unlock bootloader... this is really STUPID step from HMD that stop/slow growing of developers and powerusers community...
Is here two petition about unlocking bootloader:
https://www.change.org/p/hmd-global...to-unlock-the-bootloader-of-our-nokia-handset (actually 2422 sign)
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000024502 (actually 170 sign/like and 388 comments (+many (~50-100) comments deleted by Moderator)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/how-to/petition-possibility-to-unlock-t3788953 (xda thread)
and from MHD is ZERO, repeat... ZERO reaction... only 1 reaction in nokia forum thread is from Laura about "stop vulgarism"
Me lost patience and before some day buy unoficialy signature file for unlocking, but this is not global solution, many people don't want in principle pay for having root/admin account for device which buyed and/or send IMEI/SN of his phone to 3rd people... Only positive is that is really not need have Customs N7+ ROMs, because with Project Treble is here GSI (Generic System Image)...
Hey all! I am going to sign a new contract with my carrier and I consider to buy a new phone. I am currently using the Huawei P9. The Phone is still good but i think it will hold up good one more year maximum and then it most likely become pretty bad but I can sign a new contract with carrier only once every 2 years so now its my chance to get a new phone at kind of a good price. So I am wondering between the Nokia 7 Plus and the Honor 10. I need a bigger screen and I want it to be good cuz i consume a lot of media (youtube, movies) on the phone and I also text a lot. The camera has never been a priority for me but after I got the P9 I make more shots than before just cuz the camera is super nice and the Leica branded filters really makes the pictures look great. I dont know how is the Nokia 7 Plus camera. From the reviews I understand that it is not bad but for sure Honors camera is better. I like Honor 10 design more even that reviewers says that the Nokia looks a lot better on person but I am 100% sure that the build quality of the Nokia is far superior than Honors. I really like that the Nokia is AndroidOne device but still official support is kinda the same as others (2 years with 3 years security patches) but it will got them faster for sure. Battery life is mistery for me for both phones. I dont like the notch on Honor 10, I dont hate it, but definitely dont like it too. Overall from the reviews on YouTube that I have watched I prefer Nokia displey - its bigger, no notch and I think it have a little bit better colors. So my question is what will you guys reccomend to me ? I want to ask peoples that are using the phone now. I want to ask also how is the software experience and is pure android really better than the skins. Also want to ask is there any glitches and bugs that are more common among users cuz in some of the reviews they say the software was not perfect for sure but it was very early software and after the number of updates that you received how is the software experience and bugs and glitches ? Nokia 7 Plus is also e bit cheaper than Honor 10. Tell me also what was a good surprise and what was not using the phone for the period. I hope you can give me some opinions on the dilemma and which phone worth the price. Sorry for my bad English and Thanks in advance!
Hey, i was on the same boat last week. p9 lite and went to a nokia 7 plus very nice phone don't go for a huawei phone their updates are limited.. while nokia provides you 2 years of update and 3 years of security updates.

Yes, that is one of the main reasons I consider the Nokia. But I have a P9 which was a flagship 2 years ago and now I can only afford a premium mid-range phone since Huawei phones gone up in price too. The Honor on the other hand has the flagship Kirin 970 CPU but has a skin which I am not sure I like. So the question is Honor 10 for the design, specs and cameras or Nokia 7 Plus for the software experience, display and build quality ?

Do not mind about kirin 970.. it sucks ass.... camera on the nokia is amazing also the design sits so nice in your hand...battery ? i won't even comment on it 3a charge, i do charge from 70% > 100 in about 15mins
Deff Nokia 7 plus I had a honor 10 camera is lame
And now that they have stopped you unlocking bootloader the development for honor phones will be non existent now , no brainer better phone better up dates and android pie straight off [emoji16]

Honor play pretty much same as honor 10 same 970 Kirin 4GB ram bigger battery for £100 less but don't suppose camera up to much too

After the issues with Huawei breaking and killing my warranty (also my p9 lite), i wanted to buy Oneplus 5T. However , i've seen this Mate 10 pro with decent specs and good features and it was 50$ more than Oneplus 5T.
I only want a phone for battery camera and software. Should i risk my money (and sanity with the warranty) for this device or should i stick with Oneplus 5T?

If you are in the states don't buy the c567 model go for the international one. IS models are not receiving updates as frequently as European model

The ROMS for the Mate 10 pro aren't perfect. If you want to run AOSP or something closer to it like near stock android, the one plus 5T is the stable option. If you are okay with the EMUI then the Mate 10 pro has better hardware IMO. If you like to tinker with less than perfect ROMS, then I'd go with the Mate 10 Pro but I'm sure the one plus 5T has more ROM development.
That's my two cents.

Huawei killed bootloader unlock. I can go for oneplus5T but it has 64 gb while.mate 10 pro has 125gb. Again skeptical for Huawei because i don't want to get headaches in the long run about the warranty.

If you're lucky you get a device on low enough firmware to downgrade and use DC/HCU to get unlock code. If not you will have to pay $30 or $55 depending on what site you chose.
I would rather get the OnePlus if you want root/custom roms.
What warranty issues did you have with p9?

Unlock. Downgrade is free IF possible. For example:
On BLA-L29C432B142 you can use DC. On B145 it doesn't work but can be downgraded using service firmware. B146 or higher can not be downgraded past B146. Build is not the same on every cust, so if you are on C636 the build where DC works is different. But generally it's May patch firmware.
Paid expensive unlock is done by FH and ministryofsolutions. If you have rebranded using FH before you can not use their service (FH Rebrand changes your imei in fastboot).

My phone has 3 issues with EMUI 5 updates (when it launched for the first time). I made a post about it on my account. I just want a long run phone. Do you think this is worth the money or 5T is better?
Well? Should i waste my time with Huawei again or move on with Oneplus/ google pixel 1?
Actually the Mate 10 pro is an excellent device.. But considering the possibilities of an one plus 5 or 6, I'd not go with Huawei anymore.
Same. Mate 10 pro has so many great features but it is not a long run device. I can see myself changing it in 2 years after Huawei will kill my phone like their attempt with my P9 lite. Oneplus 5T is a great deal for me but the camera is not as impressive like on Mate 10 pro and only has 64gb. The fast charging is pretty neat on 5T, but the long lasting battery on Mate 10 pro is very nice for me too.
Idk which to pick. I can go for 5T for the long run (which may keep me more than 4 years due to development), but we will see what will happen during christmas. Either way, i have the google pixel pinned on my shopping list. If Oneplus 5T 128gb gets cheaper, then i will go for 5T.
Also Mate 10 pro doesn't have the bootloader unlocked, thus the phone aging from outdated software.
Ok so looks like Oneplus isn't trustable anymore. I've seen many posts about security issues and that pushed me away from the company.
Ok Huawei, you won... Buying mate 10 pro

Oh that's an interesting take on the situation, I was going to recommend the mate 10 pro anyway but for different reasons.
I came from an OP3, battery life of the mate 10 pro is a different league, software, bar a few foibles, is ok. Although there's still issues with android auto compatibility and as has been mentioned custom ROM scene is impacted by lack of bootloader unlock. With hindsight I'm still happy I made the right choice, hopefully when I'm due an upgrade other OEMs will have decided to fit usable batteries.

I could had gone for oneplus 5T but i don't want to go change my rom just when i purchase it. Huawei killed my nerves with the warranty. So you got your mate 10 pro too?
I had the Essential PH-1 and the Mate 10 Pro. I sold the Essential PH-1 even though it already had full Pie on it. The screen of the Mate 10 Pro is a beauty and it's fast and snappy at anything I throw at it. However, as others have said, if you want to get to Pie quicker or you like to tinker with your phone and use a ROM, you are pretty much out of luck. If you are OK with the latest security updates on Oreo and the thought that you "maybe" getting Pie then it's an excellent phone. If I had the chance to buy the Mate Pro again I would go for the International version even without warranty. I do want the face-unlock and other features that the US version hasn't received and might not receive.
It's a tough decision. I might look at the latest One Plus 6 or the Mate 20 when it comes online. But the price difference is too large and I want a great phone now - so I am quite happy with the Mate 10 Pro.

The only phone i can buy is the international.
Again. Oneplus 5T is a great phone but the software has terrible security and privacy (by the looks of it.)
Mate 10 has solid and flagship features but support is as bad as the long term software updates.
Again, i can go for Oneplus 5T but i don't want huge headaches changing roms. Besides, Google implemented whatever "limitation" that will not make your phone trustable unless yadda yadda.
Google pixel was a good phone but it's a 2016 device and the pixel experience will pretty much be gone.
The only options are oneplus 5T and Mate 10 pro. Oneplus 5T with good specs and software but bad privacy. Again, i can buy it but i don't want to change the software just when it was fresh bought.
Mate 10 pro has many features and great design. Also the pc mode is very very cool and it does not need a dock. Also has always on display, which Oneplus 5T has only by rooting it (unless Oneplus implements it). But, as we know, Huawei has terrible software support and warranty as well (warranty being my case).
In my opinion, i think Mate 10 pro is a better value for the simple fact that has water resistance, pixel-like camera, 4k battery and other hidden features, but i have to send my cousin to buy it so HUAWEI won't add anything sketchy in it :laugh::laugh:.
Oneplus 5T is a mate 10 pro in a cheaper form. Great specs, great build, great battery and great charging. But the software raises your anxiety with these "privacy and security" issues. A custom ROM solves the issue (as i said earlier).
I want to hear your opinions about these 2 devices. I want to buy a phone for the long run. This is my opinion. Sorry that the post feels weird, but i am always skeptical of buying new phones, especially "flagships"

I really am surprised at the security concerns with OOS, I'm still active on the OnePlus community forums and haven't seen any recent security scares, the android patches are September and everything else seems OK.
The big advantage that led me to choose the Huawei is the battery. OnePlus are still fitting 3400mah batteries ,which too my mind are too small, clever software tweaks can compensate, but those same tweaks can make the mate 10 pro even better.

Actually about the security and privacy of Oneplus's OOS is the fact that it can collect all your activity through an app that gets all your logs and sends them to Oneplus. Again, skeptical with both the devices. I am sorry for my "temper" between these 2 devices, but , again, i am concern about my purchase as i want a phone to last me more than 3 years (at least)

I think most modern phones will last more than 3 years on the hardware side, judging by the support I've received so far for the Mate 10 pro, I'm skeptical that software support will last 2 years let alone 3. OnePlus are much more supportive of the development community so custom support is much better.
A word of caution though, both devices are 2017 devices a full two years official support will take them to 2019 you are after support for 3 years, from now that takes you to 2021, that is well outside the official support window of even the best devices.

So what should i buy between those 2 devices?
Hello guys ,
So i was currently thinking of upgrading my oneplus 3
But i couldn't settle on a certain phone , the only 2 phones in my mind would be the oneplus 7 pro and Samsung galaxy s10 plus since both cost the same where i live , let me know what you think guys
I am going to wait for the Pixel 4 and then make a decision..
I would choose the 7 Pro over the S10 Plus for its VFM and screen!
The s10's price is diving so you may be able to pick up a bargain. Depends on your criteria.

Currently using the 3T and will be upgrading to the s10 plus. I'm just waiting for the price of the s10 plus to dip a bit further down. Personally I think the s10 plus is more equipped with features and well rounded.

Ordered the Oneplus 7 pro (Almond colour) 8/256, will arrive tomorrow. Very excited.
But will still keep my OP3 with me for as long as it lives.

The S10 plus is a really great phone but i keep getting pulled away due to the below points
1. Touch wiz and the history of updates
2. Developer community always better on one plus devices
3. The notchless screen on the oneplus 7 pro makes it look much appealing the s10 plus screen .

Congrats , let us know what you think when you receive it
I get your point. Samsung is refining oneui to bring it closer to stock android and is increasing update supports for it's flagships, according to latest reports and that's good enough for me.
Oneplus phones surely has more community support, but nowadays phones with stock roms has got so much better that the idea of installing custom roms is becoming less tempting.
The 7 Pro may look more appealing because of it's all screen design, but I still have some reservations about the pop up camera with regards to how long it will remain functional as a moving part.
I'm not trying to convince you as to why the s10 plus is a better phone then the 7 Pro because both phones are great in their own way, I'm just sharing my personal reason why I'm going to get the s10 plus as my next phone.

Personally I'm keeping my op3 as long as it's working and not struggling with doing anything. However of it were to die tomorrow I'd be looking at he op7 pro, the Xiaomi black shark 2, or the oppo Reno 10x zoom
Take a look at Xiaomi Mi 9
Zenfone 6 since it will officially receive lineage os. I don't like the size of the phone and just 18W charging but it has the greatest battery life.
If the s10e becomes cheaper and receives lineage os, I'll gladly opt for it.

The pixel devices are always highly priced
I'm looking for a mate 20 pro, I'm waiting for huawei/trump fight to end (I don't want to buy a phone that is not going to have android Q).
Also I'm a little bit annoyed to not be able to unlock bootloader.
But mate 20 pro is what I want, great camera and battery

You have the budget for the S10, so I don't see why you can't buy the Pixel
Right now in India, the smaller pixel 3 is priced lower than the s10. I don't know how much it is in your country.
Pretty sure the smaller pixel 4 variant will be around the same price range.
I sure as hell won't buy a device with a notch and no headphone jack. I am at minority here but those are my requirements for now.
Redmi K20 Pro and Zenfone 6Z are top contenders for my money (I don't want to go back to IPS LCD but might have to). OnePlus phones are naturally out because they decided to "follow trend" and removed headphone jack. OP3 is working fine for my usage and i don't need the best camera, an average camera will do for me so no appeal of Pixel 4 to me at all. So for now, yeah, not many options, K20 pro is choice 1, zenfone 6z being 2nd.
I'm thinking about OP6 as it's the last OP with headphone Jack and notification LED. I know the notch isn't great but for me, small notch + OLED > LCD.
OP7, not the pro version because I definitely do not want a phone with moving parts. No Samsung, I have nothing with the brand...
But as others said before, will keep using my OP3T as long as possible. Fast, two days of battery life, great camera and straight forward; still did not find a good reason for making a switch. ..
I'd buy an iPhone, currently using oneplus 3, lasted for 2years. Still snappy with good battery backup.
