Full Return to Original Guide - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hello guys. I have a will to root my phone or maybe try one or two ROMs. However I am a guy that always wants to turn back the phone to it's original state. Can anyone of you provide me something like guide to returning to Original state?

You need to remember the firmware version you want to go back to (like EVA-L09CxxxBxxx) and install the OTA by copying it on the dload folder on your SD card and powering on with Vol+ and Vol- pressed. You can find the files in this forum. This method works even if you have a custom rom installed or your device does not boot at all.
Some OTAs even lock your bootloader again.

[SOLVED] HELP PLZ! xperia TL in eternal bootloop

Can s/o please point me in the right direction? I have a brand new Xperia TL. I followed the directions on the All-In-One Readme thread to root the phone, which came with locked bootloaders. Then I tried flashing the rom- [AOKP][JB] Xperia T - KangXperiaProject - [milestone 1].
Then the phone turned off, and when I turned it on all that happened was the Sony boot logo came up, then a fuzzy/staticky screen with random colors, then the phone shuts off, and then turns on again, and then the same thing. The battery isn't removable so I can't do a battery pull.
I managed to get the phone into Flash mode for Flashtool, tried flashing a kernel, but nothing happened. I tried all the different key combos to get into recovery, but no dice. I was actually lucky that once it remained stable long enough to flash a kernel, but usually when it's connected to the comp it won't stay on long enough to do much of anything. I also tried accessing the phone with an ADB shell, but that won't read the phone.
I also searched and searched and searched for possible solutions, but can't seem to find any posts (on XDA or otherwise) that deal with this specific set of issues.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated!!
You cannot flash custom rooms that are not stock based with a locked bootloader.
That is because you cannot flash custom kennels with a locked bootloader.
Flash a stock ftf with flashtool to fix your phone.
To do a virtual battery pull then press and hold the power button and volume up button until the phone vibrates
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
Thanks for the info. I tried flashing a stock ftf (I think the LT30_7.0.A.3.195_kernel.ftf you provide in the readme thread), but then it just want back to bootlooping.
Is there a different one I should flash? Or is there something else I could do? Meanwhile, I'll try flashing again when I get home today.

I flashed the ftf again- the phone still bootloops, but sometimes it show an image of a phone and the triangle with the ! in the middle- which I know is Download Mode on my old phone (Samsung Captivate). Is this what's supposed to happen? If yes, what's the next step? If not, what else can I do?
Thanks so much gregbradley!

TL version

Thank you gregbradley and hkjr.
I was having trouble flashing an ftf b/c the phone kept shutting off in the middle of a flash. What I did was flash (the T version) piece-meal; I checked "Exclude" for all the components except the 1st, flashed, then checked "Exclude" for all except the 2nd, flashed, etc., and IT WORKED!!
Then I flashed the TL version ftf, rooted it, and all was good. Now it was time to flash a custom rom. I flashed recoba23's Xperia Curiosity V1.2 Rom (for locked bootloaders). That worked. Then I wanted to take a look at TiMiN8R's XperimenT rom. The phone told me that the file finished downloading. I thought it was a little smaller than indicated on the download page, but the phone said the download was complete. Flashed it. Then BRICK. Dunno if it's because the full file didn't download, but now ALL I get is the Sony splash screen (no bootloop, just stays like that). I can't get into recovery and I can't get the phone into flash mode, although the computer does recognize it when I plug it in and I can access the files on the phone.
Any ideas what's going on??
same problem please help =(
I too have the same problem, stuck at "SONY" screen can't go to recovery mode, can't connect to pc, i did the power+up volume button, turns off but if i turn it on same result stuck at sony... I followed this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020796 for locked bootloader, i have the att xperia TL.
I flashed the generic 7.0.A.1.303 ftf
Rooted using Bin4ry's method
Install CMW for locked bootloaders
Enter recovery, factory reset and flash the ROM(STOCK ROOTED 7.0.A.3.195)
and when im going to flash the flashable CMW, i cant find it in my ext sd.. i put it with stock rooted 7.0.A.3.195.zip and superuser.zip, it says "file not found" on recovery after i flashed the stock 7.0.A.3.195.zip so i decided to reboot.. and this happened. Is there a fix to this please help us :crying:
OK, I got my phone back up and running! For me, it just seemed to be a matter of playing around with the buttons and the plugging/unplugging the phone from the computer and/or charging it, and eventually it went into flash mode. I was able to flash stock kernel, root and apply CWM, then made sure that I downloaded the whole file for whichever ROM I wanted, flashed it, and all was good!
fatedcircle9, just try playing around with it. If you can't flash the new CWM from recovery right after you install the ROM, just reboot the phone, attach it to the computer, and install CWM like you did before. At least that's what worked for me....

[Q] Rooted my LG p880, and now it won't start

Hi!
I just rooted my brand new LG optimus 4x HD, and when I was going to install cyanogenmod on it, the phone stopped working. I pressed to restart in recovery and installing the rom, but when it was about to restart, it only says something like: unrecoverable boot loader, and something with kernel. I don't know what this means, but I hope there is a way to fix this, because the phone is brand new, and now I can't even start it.
Some suggestions?

Just flash original stock KDZ file with kdz flasher.
If you want to install CM, you do not need a rooted phone, but an unlocked bootloader.
Check the respective threads for details on how to unlock the phone and then flash CM.

ok, i'll try that in a couple of hours when I get home, Thanks everyone! I'll be back if there is another problem
in the lg pc suite that comes with the phone there is an option in "Device" for "emergency firmware recovery" this should be a relatively easy way to restore your phone if it allows you to do it without booting up otherwise use the method posted earlier. to get into the correct mode on the phone turn phone off, then whilst holding vol- plug in the usb (don't press power button) this should enter software upgrade mode.
after this you will lose root and if you unlocked your bootloader will relock it.
i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256392 all in one tool to root and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40918727&postcount=108 to unlock bootloader, you can use the all in one tool (from rooting) to install cwm after you have unlocked bootloader.
I hope this helps

to get into S/W upgrade mode, remove battery, insert battery, hold the vol-, and plug in a usb attached to a computer (keep holding vol-).
hope this helps. also try a different pc usb port or a different cable (just to eliminate any variables)

I don't know why didn't you understand my words but glad that you are running well now. For CWM or a custom rom, you need unlocked the bootloader not root.

Is there anyway i can dowbload lg+ tag and quick memo? It isnt included in the rom :/
No, but I did a factory reset and flashed the rom, and then the stock apps werent included

Hi astr_x,
Do you have any example links for the respective threads you mention? I have tried adb and fastboot. I hold Volume down + plug into my computer and I get the Unrecoverable bootloader error that was mentioned above. In fact, I get this error even when I plug my phone to a normal plug (and not PC). Anyway, I connect my phone to my laptop (I always get the error mentioned) and when I type the relative adb+fastboot command in cmd (after installing all the relative drivers), I get "Error: Unknown device".
Any thoughts?

Cannot upgrade P7-L07 with EMUI 2.0

Hi,
a friend of mine has got in China a P7 with a strange EMUI 2.0 firmware (I always knew that P7 came with 2.3 since the first version). I wanted to upgrade it to the EMUI 3.0, then I downloaded the package from emui.com, I extracted the dload directory and copied to the internal memory (the same procedure I succesfully did with mine) but when I booted it holding Vol-, Vol + and Start button I just went into the stock recovery interface.
I though was a problem of the recovery, then I restarted with adb into bootloeader mode but the screen was all empty except for "fastboot mode" wrote at the bottom. When I tried to flash another recovery I got an error saying that flashing the recovery was not allowed.
Anyone knows what the problem is?
Thanks in advance

And also is resisting to any attempt to unlock: do not give Product ID so I cannot produce the unlocking code, neither are working all methods I found on the web. I may have to give up
maybe there is a firmware for your p7-L07 like there is for the p6-u06 where you can flash a so called unicom version and first downgrade and then upgrade/update..
and hopefully this downgrade unlocks the bootloader..
just my thoughts..

Thanks blueIBI, the problem is how to flash it, since the normal way do not work. After copying the dload directory on the phone memory, if I use the system menu to perform local upate or I reboot by pressing Vol+ Vol- Start I always end up in the recovery menu, the firmware gets never installed.
Will try harder.

The phone belongs to a friend of mine. I own another P7 and they look exactly the same. It came in the original box with everything, so I have no doubt that it is original.
The fact that it has EMUI2.0 make me think that it was one of the first released to the market. The phone is working fine, just it is not upgrading on-line and I cannot find a way to upgrade it manually. I will try contacting Huawei support.

Please help me im desperate (p9 unrooting)

Hey all.
I am trying to unroot and re lock my bootloader so my phone is back to its normal state
I have wiped all data on twrp and re flashed with 136.
That isn't the issue,
Whenever I go to change the theme it doesnt let me, the stock icons are big and ugly and werent the stock ones I had before.
Does anybody have a guide on how I can remove all traces of this root because its not letting me get rid of these ugly icons.

I think that what he said is this:
- Create a dload folder on sd card root
- Copy update.app (from 136) to dload folder on sd card
- Force an reflash: power off, then vol up+vol down+power
- After flashing, go to huawei updater and update to the last official version for your phone
This is what I've done with mine. And ended with bootloader locked and everything as factory again.
Hope it helps, but if you search the forum you will find a lot of info about this procedure.

If u wipe data and flash u need to include the hw folder to with the firmware in dload folder when u flash to get rid of the ugly icons and get Themes to work.

You have to flash stock recovery via fastboot before this method of complete reflashing firmware. Otherwise flashing process may fail and end up on eRecovery screen.

Stuck in bootloop

I got a free P9 from a family friend so i decided to tinker around with it.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader flashed twrp and installed SU on it but then I wanted to try the unofficial CM rom on it. But I wasn't getting any signal with it so then i tried to go back into stock firmware which was posted on xda (at the time i didn't know i had the wrong model). After that Playstore wasn't working so tried using another stock firmware that was on xda but then i found the right model that i had (VIE-AL10C00176) but now it's stuck in a boot loop. It would boot up (doesn't show that i have an unlocked bootloader anymore) and then it would restart. Occasionally it boots up into erecovery. I've tried downloading "latest firmware and recovery" from this but it's still stuck in a boot loop. Any idea how I might fix this? (lack of hindsight cause i've done this a lot on other phones but i didn't prep a back up). I'm pretty sure I left USB debugging on before all of this I have yet to test if i can reflash twrp and try flashing another rom to see if this fixes anything (any thoughts?). Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Hello. I would try this way:
1. download a complete dload version from http://www.huaweifirm.com/firmware/p9-plus-vie-l09/
2. unzip it, inside there is a dload folder..
3. format a micro SD card and copy the dload folder on it
4. shutdown the phone. If it does not shut down don't worry.. go to next step
5. insert the micro SD card
6. keep pressed all three buttons (volume+, volume- and power) until it starts flashing
Let me know if it works..
