Software the doesn't need usb debugging - Galaxy Note 4 General

Hi all,
I'm having dramas with my phone as I have smashed the the digitizer. I have managed to connect a keyboard via otg to type in my password and I can now unlock my phone via the fingerprint reader.
Kies fails to work so I wondered if there was any software that I could download messages, pics, videos, music, WhatsApp etc without needing usb debugging enabled on my phone?
Cheers jim

[Q] how to enter mass storage mode with PC seamlessly?

Hey guys, been trying to figure out how to connect my phone to my pc without having to have kies installed on every computer I access using the usb cable. After struggling for a while I figured out the problem was because I had usb debugging mode activated, and once I unchecked it abracadabra! I was able to access my memory card just like any regular flash disk. The only problem am experiencing now is that, even though I have usb debugging unchecked, every time I connect the usb cable it automatically becomes checked again. meaning I have to go through the long process of going to settings> applications> development, to uncheck it again. Why is this happening?

Install these samsung drivers and you will be able to do so.

Dont quite get the problem.
When I plug in the USB cable to the phone and PC, the phone's task bar shows a small icon at the top. I pull down the task bar (or what ever it is called - it is pull down), touch the info about USB, and up comes a dialog box about enabling USB storage. I touch OK, and there is a warning about not being able to use apps on the USB. I touch OK again, and I am now connected to the PC.
First time or so, I was asked to turn off USB debugging, and never had to do it again.
Then maybe its an issue with my phone, originating from the factory, coz everytime I connect I am forced to go find the usb debugging option from way deep in settings coz nothing appears in the drop down task bar until I uncheck it. I am now getting paranoid considering the first time I bought it and took it home I found out that the standard micro sd card I was issued with did not work and had to go back to the store and get a replacement card. Maybe I should have opted for a different phone too. "cockroach theory"

Thanks for the drivers, but that was not the solution I was looking for exactly as that would mean I would have to install them on every computer I ever connect to, seeing as I prefer to double up my phone as a flash disk too coz its harder to loose and no pal would ever ask to use your phone to go borrow something (thats how flashdisks get lost) and I can also charge the phone when am copying new movies and songs, catch my drift.

If i recall correctly this also happened to me when i bought the phone. But after i installed samsung kies or the drivers it got ok. But as you say, if you use many computers its not pratical. I mainly use this one so no problem for me.

When you use your phone as a flash drive, you can expect to use it as a normal flash drive - simply plug it in, and the PC recognises a USB mass storage device. There ought to be no need for any drivers. Even on windows PCs.
But, you will have to unmount the SD card from within the phone.
If you need to disable USB debugging mode each time, try disabling USB debugging without the USB cables plugged in The phone ought to remember it. The menu option is, IIRC, settings > USB and media.
Things are slightly different in 2.2.2 froyo, 2.4.5, 2.4.6 and the current 7.1 CM custom kernel I am using. So, I cannot exactly remember the menu option. But, it is not a driver issue.
BTW, I installed the samsung USB drivers for Kies and ODIN from the phone on a newly installed OS, and was on stock 2.2.2 Froyo then so I am very sure that this is not a USB drivers issue.
My phone just updated to 2.3.6 and every time I plug the USB cable in, debugging mode automatically activates, even though I have unchecked it without USB cable plugged or after it was plugged. When I try to enter mass storage mode I get prompted that some apps might not work while in this mode. I tap OK and the phone tries to connect but after a while reverts back to debugging. That would not be a problem if I was at my home computer as running keys unlock the mass storage mode adn I can use Total commander to load what I want, but when at work, I do not have admin right so I can not install driver. Until yesterday I was on Froyo 2.2.1 and mass storage was no issue...

I knew this is an old post, but i had to reply this.
I had the same situation. i also lost the USB Storage function after upgraded to 2.3.6 DXKT5.
so , now i unable to use TV or SetTopBox to play the files inside the S5830. too sad.
I wish i could revert back to FROYO v2.2.1 , yet , i unable to find a valid/working download link for Froyo 2.2.1 DXKC1 , so i had to stick with it now or later.

to use the phone as a usb drive you need to enable usb debugging. go into menu, settings, application, development. when conneted to a computer your phone will beep then just use pull down menu screen touch the message for usb connection..... little guy will turn orange......then your phone will show up on computer like a usb pen drive. drap and drop files.

(Help) usb internet Connection

Hi folks, I have a query. They saw that this beautiful phone has the ability to connect to the internet via USB cable using pc internet.
Well, today I wanted to try in the office and I walked, I assumed it was because the work proxy blocking me, but when I try it here at home, still no go. He says he can not establish the connection, to check you have the latest version of htc sync, which I have.
Anyone know what can be?
PD, the firewall is disabled.
Greetings and thank you very much!!
Pretty sure the PC uses the phones connection not the other way.
I had to uninstall HTC sync to view the phone as USB and install windows media player and turning on/off USB debugging.

Did you select the option in usb setting when you connect the phone to the PC? Only after selecting the setting will the PC internet work on the phone.

Screen Cracked. Can't access phone.

Hello everyone,
Just had a cracked screen on Z3+ and I can't seem to access my phone to backup important files. I need to enable USB debugging so I can control the phone from PC or use the "Detect USB Device" to enable the OTG and use a Mouse to control the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hello,
Unfortunately, with the Z3+ your screen becomes unresponsive once its cracked. The same happened to mine. The good news is there's a way of getting into the phone to backup and/or delete personal information before sending it off for repairs. You need a "otg usb on the go adapter cable", you connect one end to the phone and connect a mouse to the other end and use it to navigate the screen of your phone. There should be one among the accessories that came with the phone or you can get one on amazon or similar websites.
All the best.

Recover photos with broken screen

Hi, I smashed my p20 pro screen and I'm trying to get the pictures out for backing them up in my pc, I can't get the phone in USB debugging or MTP so my pc or HiSuite doesn't recognize the device. Any solutions? I tried 3rd party software and they ask me to put the phone in usb debugging so I can't use them either. Screen and fingerprint sensors are not responsive.
There is no way to retrieve such photos from the internal storage if the recovery software can't access the internal storage.
If your device has an SD card, and such photos are stored there, you may be able to remove the card from your phone and try a computer based recovery program.
The answer above is not helpful at all...
However, all is not lost if you can still see through the cracks and stuff. If the phone works, but you just can't use fingerprint and touch, try using a USB mouse with a USB type C OTG adaptor (those can be cheaply found on amazon or other stores, if you don't already own one).
With the mouse, you can "touch" on your screen, and so upload the pictures, do a backup etc. You can even use a USB hub and connect a USB storage device as well as the mouse and do a complete backup to the storage device.
